Second Annual Booksgiving!

Hello and welcome to the second annual Booksgiving Day!  What is “Booksgiving Day?”  It’s day to celebrate the joy of reading and giving and llamas, but without any actual llamas unless you’ve brought your own.

Basically, last February I wanted to thank you guys for all of your support by giving out 30 copies of Furiously Happy, which I did, but then everyone else was like, “I WANT TO GIVE BOOKS TO PEOPLE TOO” so we set up a day where you could ask for one book from a stranger using an Amazon wishlist and if someone wanted to give it to you they would.  And they did.  Some people asked for a book for their child.  Some asked for a book to escape life for a bit.  Some asked just to have a reminder that they exist and matter, and then they went back in and bought a book for someone else.  And people found friends (and really good book recommendations) by looking at the particular book that each person really wanted.  And it was lovely.

So today we’re doing it again and if you want to ask for a book (or give a book) the details are all here.  I’m giving out 30 of my own books for those of you who are part of the community but haven’t been able to buy one, but you can pick any book at all and leave it in the comments and I’ll probably give out others once I hit my 30.  Furiously Happy is out in paperback today, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is still in print and YOU ARE HERE: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds comes out in a few weeks (tour info coming soon!) so those are the 30 books I’m giving out first.

bookplateforfuriouslyhappy

Here are the rules:

  1.  If you’re in a rough place and need a book to transport you somewhere else make A BRAND NEW wish list with nothing on it but the book you want.  (Exception: If you have a kid who needs a book you can add that too.)
  2. Here’s how you make a wish list:  Under “Accounts and Lists” on the right, top side of Amazon select “Create a list”.  Choose “Wish list” and name it something like “The book I really need right now” and choose “Public”.  Then click “Create list”.  Now add a book to your list by going to the book and clicking the “add to list” button on the bottom right of that page.  Make sure you assign it to the new wishlist.  Now here’s the most important thing that everyone forgets to do.  You have to assign a shipping address to that specific wish list or it won’t go to you.  EVERY new wishlist has to be assigned an address or you won’t get your stuff.  So click on your wish list and click on “public” and it’ll take you to “List settings”.  Click “view details” and where it says “shipping address” add yours.  (Your city will be shown to others, but not your full address.)  Then save changes.  Now leave a comment with a link to your wish list.  Click here for my sample wish list so you’ll know what one looks like.  I have about 20 books listed on it for inspiration if you don’t know exactly what you want.  In your comment say which book you want in case someone specifically wants to buy you that book.  Also, if you’re not in America put that in the comment so we can match people better by location and not have crazy shipping fees.   Feel happy.
  3. Here’s how you buy a book for a stranger.  Click on their link.  Choose a book.  Select their name so it goes to their address.  If it doesn’t give you the option of picking their name it means they didn’t add a shipping address so delete what’s in your cart and go to the next person.  Send a story to someone in need.  Feel happy.

The only rule is that this is just for books.  No gift cards or clothes or anything else because it gets out of hand really quickly.  Just a simple book to take you away from the world and help you find new ones.

And as always, thank you.  Thank you for supporting my words and listening and passing them on to others.  I’m in the middle of writing book 4 right now and you’re giving me strength to keep writing even when I doubt myself.  I owe you one.  Or 30.

UPDATED: Here are screen shots of what you should see while making a wishlist and add a shipping destination because it’s less complicated if you have pictures to walk you through:

Create a list under “Your lists”.

Make it a wish list, name it and make it public.

Screen Shot 2016-02-02 at 1.40.30 PM

After you click “create list” click on the “public” button below:

Screen Shot 2016-02-02 at 1.40.53 PM

Click “view details” to add your shipping address to this wish list:

Screen Shot 2016-02-02 at 1.41.27 PM

Choose a shipping address and save changes.

Screen Shot 2016-02-02 at 1.43.02 PM

Now you’re ready to add something to your list.  Pick a book and choose the “add to list” button on bottom right side:

screen-shot-2017-02-07-at-9-05-09-am

If you have another wish list set as your default (like I always do) then you’ll need to click “move to another list.”

Screen Shot 2016-02-02 at 1.44.57 PM

Just click the list you’re going to share here.

Screen Shot 2016-02-02 at 1.45.28 PM

Now go to the wish list and copy the link and then paste it into the comments.  Done!  There might be a better way of doing it but that’s how I do it.

PS.  If you click on a wish list that says it’s empty that’s because the book has already been bought for them.  🙂  That is a very good thing.

PPS.  I love you guys.  Now I’m off to buy books.

  1. So excited to read You are Here: An Owners manual for dangerous minds looks amazing and I can’t wait to read it! All of your books give me great insight (I’m a school counselor- so it helps me with my students) and lots of humor. Thank you for writing them! If you’re still giving out books, I would love a copy of your new book!

(Go into amazon and create a wishlist with it and post it here. That’s the way I’m filling them. 🙂 First posted, first served. ~ Jenny)

  2. I would love a copy of any of your books, Jenny! I lost my copy of Furiously Happy and Let’s Pretend this Never Happened in my last move and they mean a lot. Even if I’m not picked, I just want you to know that reading a chapter or two helps me when I feel my anxiety building or even when I just feel all alone. Thank you for being there for all of us.

(Go into amazon and create a wishlist with it and post it here. That’s the way I’m filling them. 🙂 First posted, first served. ~ Jenny)

  3. I would love to receive a copy of any of your books, Jenny! This is the first time I’ve ever seen the post early. 😀

(Make sure to go make a wishlist with the book you most want on it. That’s how I’m filling them. It’s a million times easier that way. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  4. Can’t wait to read You Are Here: An Owners Manual For Dangerous Minds! I have so enjoyed all that you write and this book looks amazing!!!

  5. Jenny…this is the only book of yours that I don’t have. i would love it!!! <3

  6. Hi Jenny! 😊 I would love to read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened but i’m in Canada.😱 Anyways, I just wanted to say that you have big fans here in Canada!🇨🇦 Thank you for making something like mental illness funny when it feels like there is nothing to laugh about. We are rooting for you!😊💜 Cheers

(You can make a wishlist on amazon canada but just put that you’re from Canada on the wishlist so that another Canadian can help you out. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  7. Um, I hope I did it right…… Books I’d love to get but probably won’t O well, a girl can dream right

  8. A worthy cause. Beautiful. I sent three boxes of books to the folks at Standing Rock.

(That is such a great idea. Gonna look into that myself. ~ Jenny)

  9. I already have all of your books, including preorder of you are here. But am commenting to say YOU ARE AWESOME and i love how you share your light and am looking forward to buying someone a book! ❤❤😳😳🌈🌈🌈 Monica. Austin TX

  10. I normally don’t like asking for things, but I need a mental escape. The book on my list was a childhood favourite… http://a.co/7bcvPAu

(Looks like it’s already on its way! ~ Jenny)

  11. I love that booksgiving is back again! I didn’t join in last time and promised myself I’d be brave enough too if it came around again, so this time I’m posting.

Here’s something I’ve found over the past few months of uncertainty and turmoil out there – that spending some time with nature is just the best salve of all, and so I made a list of the birds and nature books that are in keeping with that. Books that you can escape into and escape into nature at the same time. Warm, cosy, inspiring books that make you want to be doing something to help those wild creatures we share our lives with, you know?

Anyway, before I ramble on even more, I think this is my list link : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/38M3HS1WI820O/

That’s a UK Amazon address, as I’m British. If its any help, imagine me thanking you in a British accent 😀

Thanks, Jenny, for doing all this again. Such a good thing, and thanks to this great community for making it all work too!

  12. I loved this event last year-I’m so glad I caught it this year. I think my link is working, somebody poke me if it isn’t, please!

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1C29K2HPTOYUN/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

It’s coming out on my 25th birthday! I keep fighting with myself about whether or not I should get it because money but birthday.

(Happy early birthday! Looks like the book was already ordered for you before I even opened it. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  13. I don’t really need anyone to buy a book for me, but I’d like to buy a book for someone else. So, if you’re in a spot where you could use one, please be sure to leave a note! I really love this idea – thanks Jenny! 🙂

  14. Would you also be able to give one from your own collection if it’s on somebody’s list? I can’t really afford to buy right now, but I don’t mind sharing.

(The best way to do that is to leave a comment saying what book you have that you’d like to send out with an email address. That way you can get contacted directly. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  15. FYI to those buying for others, double check that your shopping cart on Amazon is empty first. I almost sent a replacement shower head filter, guitar strings, a five month supply of foundation, and an alarm clock to a stranger. Decided just to send a book instead.

(I almost did the same thing. Except it was for copy paper. They would have been confused, I think. Same thing if you try to buy something for someone but they don’t have an address, make sure you delete what you had in your cart or it will be sent to the next person you go to. You’ll probably notice it when you check out like I do, but a reminder is always good. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  16. Bummer, I would so love your new book and have had a rough go of it this winter and would love to have some happy coloring moments, but I can’t get my phone to load the wishlist on amazon. I have no “real” internet.

Anyway thanks for doing this! You are awesome, as always!

  17. This is so amazing. I am going through a divorce and am moving out Sunday. I have loved both your books so much and am looking forward to You are Here. I love your generous heart.

  18. Just wanted to add that part of the fun is looking at the wishlists to see what other books are in demand….love adding to my “will read this too” list with recommendations from people that I know I can trust!

  19. I already have your books, but I hope to buy a book for someone. You are totally awesome. Even if you did trick us all into doing wierd voodoo with our fingers.

  20. Thank you for doing this! I gave away two copies of “Furiously Happy” and did not keep one for myself. I would love to have my own if I have posted in time to make the cut. 🙂

    Here is my list: http://a.co/7JQExKc

(Looks like it’s already on the way! ~ Jenny)

  21. Don’t forget that you can add kindle books too. I have no extra money but a ton of digital credit to spend. Help me by adding those digital books, I want to send stuff out.

  22. http://a.co/8B3iPQA

Jenny, you and this community have changed my life. Thank you for being you and showing me it’s perfectly okay to be me, just as I am, in any moment. I love sharing your work with the people I love. I gifted Furiously Happy to one of my dear friends, inscribing it that I was saving her from bathroom corpses. She’s now a devotee as well. 🙂 I would love a copy of You are Here!
    Hugs!

(Book on the way! ~ Jenny)

  23. wow thank you so much again, all the way from New Zealand you have changed mine and several of my friends thoughts and ideas from negative to positives.I never wish a day away anymore.

  24. Will the new paperback be in airport bookstores tomorrow??/ Brenda Nunnery

(I think so. Depends on the bookstore, but probably. ~ Jenny)

  25. This is amazing! I’ve gone to buy a book for someone, and I end up discovering it’s already been bought or it’s bought while I’m trying to transact my purchase. Oh wow! I’ve found one to give, though, and I’m searching for more. This is the most wonderful thing that I’ve done in a long, long time. Thank you, Jenny. So very much!!

  26. I’m so happy you’re going this again. I actually took this idea and did it with a small group of people at the end of last year when things were looking their worst. I hope you don’t mind.

    Here’s my list: http://a.co/4Td8GMy

Things are a little better this year compared to last year. My depression is still there, so’s my anxiety. I’m currently waiting to hear back for a second opinion on meds. So I have good days and bad. I had two jobs but sadly the last one didn’t work out and I’ve been unemployed since. It’s frustrating and hard. But I know I’ll get there. I try to hold onto that. <3

(Booksgiving belongs to everyone. I tried to send you a copy of YOU ARE HERE but your address isn’t attached. ~ Jenny)

  27. Hey Jenny….where is YOUR list? 😊

(I’m lucky in that I get lots of books from booksellers who want quotes or blurbs so I’m already fully covered. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  28. Does anyone know how to add your address to the wishlist while using your phone, either on chrome app or the Amazon app? I don’t have a computer and I’m not finding a way to add my address.

  29. I could use this Scott Westerfeld book right now, life has been rough lately with long hours taking care of others, a shoulder injury, and privately dealing with ongoing infertility. I’m Canadian: http://a.co/4j9s38Q

  30. http://a.co/3orrhuB

Oh yay! I really need a book escape right about now as my life hasn’t been full of sunshine and puppy dog tails.

I put in furiously happy too because that book really helped me out and I have been recommending it like crazy to friends and coworkers. I would love to pass it around to the people in my life.

(Furiously Happy on the way! ~ Jenny)

  31. Jenny said this book is hilarious. I need a little hilarity in my life right now. It’s title is Unmentionable: A Victorian Guide to Sex, Marriage and Manners. I hope it’s okay that I asked for the kindle addition. It’s easier for me to read when I can enlarge the font.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CO4AWWU/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_at_ws_us?ie=UTF8

(It is an AWESOME book. Make a wishlist and add it to it so people will know how to get it to you. ~ Jenny)

  32. Stephanie- I had to scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on Amazon Full Site. Then I was able to go to the list and click on settings. HTH!

This is so great…I could really use this.

    Link: http://a.co/dFiJ5UY

(Looks like your book is already on the way! ~ Jenny)

  33. Hopefully I set this up right…
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3G1AZR9QXTRJ7/ref=cm_wl_list_o_10?

I can probably afford to buy a book for myself but I’ve been pretty stressed about politics and the state of the world and knowing that there are people out there who care enough about strangers to want to do a little something to make them happy would go a long way to restoring my faith in the world. I fully intend to buy a book for someone else!

  34. About a year ago we had the first Booksgiving and it was an absolutely amazing experience to receive books (BOOKS!) from strangers; I felt so, dunno…seen? comforted? supported?

At that time it was about 6 months ago my partner of 12 years had died; I can’t believe that sunday was the 18 month anniversary of her death. It still feels as fresh as it did last year.
Through Booksgiving I received my first books about grief; poems and stories from people about their own losses. It helped make things more real, which was horrible but good at the same time.

A lot is happening right now; i’ve been in 3 days-a-week intensive group therapy for about 8 months now, had an inpatient stay for 2 weeks in january. It’s all one big struggle, often.
But there are things that keep me going, coming to this blog is one thing, finding like-minded people who KNOW, and having a good laugh at the same time.
Laughing, we need to keep laughing don’t we? (Group therapy is not a bad place for laughing actually. Who knew?)

And reading. Sometimes it’s so hard to be able to read because I just can’t concentrate and am too stressed out, but in the end I always get back into my books.
Books make me happy, always. And that’s worth a LOT.

I can’t really afford to buy them very often, so thank goodness for second hand books and libraries!
I don’t NEED books, I guess, but then again; I do.
Because of happiness, and connection and traveling anywhere in my mind.

I live in the Netherlands and I made my list on Amazon.co.uk; anyone with an Amazon account should be able to use it with their usual password etc. but it will be much cheaper to ship from UK compared to US.

You rock Jenny, and so does this community. Hard.

  35. I feel like a doof, but here: http://a.co/idocSAm. I had a crap January. Was in the hospital, I feel like it never ends, and I’m at my wit’s end. A book would indeed help, maybe.

(Looks like it’s already on the way! ~ Jenny)

  36. Here is my list. Now do I choose someone who has already posted to send them a book?
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=103KVLLAPOGA0&type=wishlist

(It’s totally up to you. Some people receive. Some give. Some do both. No expectations. 🙂 You may want to go back and choose the book in hardcover though because the paperback option for that book is wonky when you try to order since it’s not out in paperback yet. ~ Jenny)

  37. Last year a wonderful soul bought me a copy of Furiously Happy and it arrived at the most appropriate time to pull me out of a dark place. I’ve put Let’s Pretend on my wish list this year, to preemptively combat the oncoming storm. If there’s anyone willing to fill it…

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/1JGB3LQU6OJGQ/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_ws_xs_KBFMybB79S2C6

(Sent you and you kiddo books. It won’t take Let’s Pretend off your list because you requested the hardback and it’s just in paperback now but it’s coming even though it still shows up on your list. ~ Jenny)

  38. I’ve been hustling hard to keep up with life and bills since my thyroid started to rebel and steal my motivation and haven’t had a treat since I got sick.

    I http://a.co/hxZE7Hu

  39. Hi Jenny, I realize I am too late posting to take part in your exchange, but wanted to offer a direct book switcheroo. I’ve read your other books and have the raccoon poster too. 🙂 I’m very excited to get a copy of your new book -especially when I saw it has your Zentangles in it!

I wrote a whole bunch of books about Zentangle (Totally Tangled, Yoga for Your Brain) and self-publish other stuff now. I’m currently in the homestretch to getting my Masters (in Cartooning!) – so I draw comics about mental health. This summer I did one called “We Will Never Leave You – a comic interview with my Inner Demons”.

I laugh so hard when I listen to your books! You are the first person I’ve “met” with my sense of humor and besides the depression, anxiety, introversion, etc. blah blah blah – all quite funny in themselves, of course – my mom was a pathologist and medical examiner. I not only understand the Addams Family weirdness of having body parts in jars and bags all over the house… but I literally was raised in a laboratory.

So, if you want to trade books, or comics, or tangle cards, or doodles… :-)… all my stuff is on my Etsy site: http://www.Bumblebat.com .
    Cheers,
    Sandy

  40. I’ve just been going through a bad patch where I don’t really people anyone cares, not just about me, but about people in general. This may restore my faith in humanity, just a little.

    http://amzn.eu/deceg7v

(Just adding a note here that this list is from the UK if anyone there is looking for a match. ~ Jenny)

  41. There are two links here: The first is for myself — we’re expecting our second child in a few weeks and I will need something new to read to (attempt to) keep my sanity. The second is for another mommy who so very often doesn’t think of herself, and can’t afford to buy herself anything. Neil Gaiman is her favorite author and it would mean the world to her. <3

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/giftlist/2TASWUZKI7J2T/ref=cm_go_nav_recip_gl?

(Looks like they’re both on the way! ~ Jenny)

  42. YAY! Just sent a book to one of my unknown friends. Here’s my link of books I hope keep me sane in these times (or at least ready for the apocalypse) http://a.co/ccjJAf2

(I got a weird error here but I’m not sure if it’s because your books have been bought or if you used the wrong link. ~ Jenny)

  43. I realised as much as I wanted to replace my lost books, something I could read with my daughter is more important. I’ve been trying to get her into the wonderful world of Harry Potter (she’s almost old enough to get her own Hogwarts letter!) Forever thank you!

    https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/3BZ1B72E7KCEP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_an_wl_o_dOFMybARP6501

(Is it weird that when I read comments like this I’m all, “I CAN’T WAIT TO BUY THIS FOR YOU” but then I see that it’s already been bought by someone with the same idea and I feel a little sad for a half-second before I remember that that means I can give out another book to someone else? It’s weird. But good. ~ Jenny)

  44. http://a.co/8Y4t5FY

Here’s my book wish list! I love reading though I usually read children’s books to my kids. I would love to have some adult choices to read while my three children are asleep. Thank you so much!

  45. http://a.co/aPEyYgA This is amazing! I’ve created my list, and I’ve bought for a couple from others’ lists. I’ve only recently been led to your site, and your books, and I’m in love, frankly!

(Adding a note here that this is Amazon Canada in case any Canadians are looking for a match. ~ Jenny)

  46. I don’t have a request, but do have a recommendation (other than Jenny’s books, of course). If you need a pick-me-up during this time of craziness, I really recommend TJ Klune’s The Lightning Struck Heart. It’s a light-hearted, somewhat silly book that will still touch you. The protagonist is Sam of Wilds, a wizard’s apprentice, whose two best friends are Gary, a gay hornless unicorn and Tiggy, a half-giant. There are adventures and misadventures galore. Fair warning, this is a gay fantasy/romance novel, but I recommend it to everyone! Gave out copies at Christmas to all the readers on my list.

(Adding it to my own list. Thanks! ~ Jenny)

  47. We thoroughly enjoyed participating last year! I was able to send out a few books, and my daughter received some very helpful books that got her through losing her dad to cancer shortly before you hosted the first Booksgiving. It really meant a lot to us and I’m so glad you’re doing it again. I can’t wait to see how this year turns out!

    Here’s our list: http://a.co/cx6ys2w

(Furiously Happy coming your way. Love. ~ Jenny)

  48. Jenny this last year was the light of my deeply depressing year.
I loved every single book I received and I gifted a lot of them to keep the booksgiving going.
I would love to have mail to look forward to that isnt massive debt bills or junk mail.
    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=21Q3NZV8PJUKB&type=wishlist

I will also love to send out as many books as I can to those in need. We need to keep the love going <3

(I love your taste in books. Adding a note here that you are Canadian in case others have and Amazon Canada account. ~ Jenny)

  49. Can officially confirm, having just tried it, buying a book for a stranger because they need it is the awesome.
    Best holiday ever.

(I honestly think the greater gift is being able to give. Makes your heart warm, right? ~ Jenny)

  50. http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/3BO3W65LZV8QK

I have wanted this book forever and haven’t been able to allow myself to buy it. And there’s a second book for my son. He had a copy and I forgot it in the car when I traded it in. #oops

And I’ll find someone else’s list and buy a book for them because I can buy other people books. I just have trouble getting them for myself.

(Looks like they’re already on the way. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  51. Currently not working due to congestive heart failure and other related health issues, and so frustrated and scared that I can’t work and provide for my family. Especially stressful in these uncertain times. Could use some escape from my reality for a little while. <3 A book to keep me going
    Link: http://a.co/9E3JyxD

  52. This is awesome.
I´m from Argentina, and I’ve bought all your books in Kindle edition, basically because that is the only way… because of the politics here it’s very difficult to buy something from another country and actually get it. Customs, bribes, huge taxes… is impossible. And now I want to buy “You are here” and OF COURSE i want it in paperback because my husband will not understand if I start painting our Kindle’s screen with colour markers. He already disagrees with all my drawings on the walls.
I suffer anxiety, pannic attacks, post traumatic stress, bipolar disorder and all sort of mental craps, and you books were not only amazingly helpful, but also were enlightement for others to understand me and my disorders in a better, funny, not-so-crazy-way. So, thank you for that. And for this. And for being you, wonderful all-kinds-of-crazy you.
PS: Sorry about my bad english.
PS2: Here is my wishlist link 🙂
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3VZNYRNB3STYD/ref=cm_wl_list_o_2

(Thanks so much! I’m going to leave this comment here for someone with an Argentina account. I looked and it would cost almost $40 in shipping from here. Eek. ~ Jenny)

  53. Long time lurker, first-time-in-a-long-time poster. snort

I hope I did this right. I would LOVE TO READ THIS…. http://a.co/fbIYYA2 I was a huge fan of the first two and haven’t had the fundage to get the third yet.

I’m healing from my second major car accident (sob story, blah blah blah LOL) and am major broke what with all the physio and concussion therapy appointments. My brain is an anxious, depressed, PTSD ridden mess. GO ME!!!

+234893874 to someone that helps me out. I assure you, on my honour and all that, that I will pay it forward. (I am also Canadian, hence the “u” :D) <3 <3 <3

  54. Awww…it’s amazing what a simple purchase of a book will do to brighten someone’s day. THANK YOU happy tear

  55. So much love for Booksgiving! I’ve sent off 5 books so far and will probably order more 💙📚 keep adding lists and make sure shipping to your address is enabled!

  56. Post 85 AF – the book for your son is on the way 🙂

Thanks again for making these things happen Jenny!

  57. I couldn’t decide on a book for me, so I sent one instead! My Grinchy heart grew three sizes today! <3

  58. Somebody please heeelp! I feel really dumb, but when I try to select other addresses than mine it doesn’t show anything else!! What am I doing wrong? I click on the link, then on the cover of the book and then try to choose a different address on the right side of the screen where it says “ship to”, is that wrong??

(When you click on their wishlist don’t go to the cover of the book. Instead just click on the “Add to Cart” button beside the book on the list. Then click on the “Proceed to checkout” button that replaced the “add to cart” button. That should give you a list of shipping addresses you’ve used before, with yours being the default at the top. The person making the wishlist should be the second person listed. Usually it says “so-and-so’s gift registry”. If it doesn’t have that it usually means the person forgot to attach and address so just empty your cart and try again with a new person. ~ Jenny)

  59. Hello – I’m in Canada. I’ve only recenlty been directed to your site and books, and you are amazing, I must say. Also – this is amazing. I’ve already bought a couple of books for others, and here’s my wish list. http://a.co/aPEyYgA I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression for 20 years – I was recently on 7 weeks of sick leave (and am so thankful I’m in a job where that was even possible). Blogs like yours help so much to erase the stigma – and honestly make me laugh at myself a lot more often. Thank you.

  60. Me again – from post 25 or 26 ish above. Just a tip – that part where you SAVE the mailing address is apparently important. Sigh.

  61. I am fighting against my impulse that tells me I am being selfish for asking… but this has been sitting in my Amazon cart for months because there’s never quite enough money for it, or justification, or…something. Anyway, February is a hard time of year for me and I could use a little escapism. Thank you to anybody who might feel inclined. <3
    http://a.co/31kOEwq

  62. I put Jenny’s two books on my list because I’ve wanted to read them but I put everyone first. So, no disposable income, not that there is a lot, do I budget for myself. I’m not trying to cheat by putting two on there. Once one is given I’ll delete the list so I don’t end up with two.

    http://a.co/iTrju3x

  63. Hello,
I wanted to say thank you! I found your book last year when I was still on my depression. (furiously happy) It was the first book I bought with my kindle. I loved it! And since than I am following you. Thank you for all the good laughs and the support you gave me without knowing it!!
You are a strong woman Jenny. To help each one of us in your own way!!

    Thank you again

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/wishlist/9R8LGL1ZA0BY/ref=cm_wl_list_o_2?

I put books for my kiddos to. I try to read to them everyday…They love it!! I love it!!
This is our little cuddle moments.

  64. If someone would be so kind as to explain me how I can have the person’s address as an option too, please e-mail me at jacmaroso @ gmail.com
    I’m not giving up yet
And yes, I feel really stupid.

  65. http://a.co/aPfqtbd

My daughter is turning 4 very soon and has always been a reader. I was working on her wish list using our ongoing book list (so we know what to check out from the library or so my husband knows what to keep an eye out for at the library discard.) Hope it’s OK to post that list here.

  66. I want You Are Here, and crested a list, etc, but don’t know how to link it to here.

  67. djlovestories – When I clicked on someone’s wish list and selected a book it took me to the “address” section at check out. I had the option of sending the book to one of my saved addresses or to the unlisted address of this person whose wish list I suggested, and the book is on its way there. Does that help? I am posting here because I thought others might wonder, too.

  68. I don’t think my last comment worked. 🙁 Just had to put down my 16 year old kitty and would love/need to to get lost in some make-believe…

  69. Jenny, I would love a copy of your upcoming book…I have one of your drawings printed and stuck on my fridge to remind myself it’s not my fault others don’t see my illness (you know the one with the ship and the tentacles – just because you can’t see it)
My birthday is March 9, right after the release of the book and it is also my 3 year survival date. you are wonderful and are a oh part of my survival success.

    so here is my link,
    http://a.co/71RiRdV

    thank you in advance…Melodie

  70. Hi Jenny. I lost a friend to suicide last week and what’s been getting me thru is listening to the Furiously Happy audiobook on repeat. I’d love the paperback so I can go thru and highlight the passages that have helped me the most.

  71. We all need a reminder of all kindness in the world right now and what a better way to do that than through this wonderful tribe that Jenny has created for us! I’ve already given to one person who had the same excuse I do: I have a hard time buying something for myself – but am happy to do it for others. Since I already have all of Jenny’s books, I’m looking for something Jenny recommended to help with relaxing.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=CK7E8XJN023Q&type=wishlist

    Thank you!

  72. My favorite holiday! Can’t. Stop. Buying. All. The. Books. You guys have great taste, I hope everyone enjoys their books!

  73. I have successfully ordered for someone….BUT ONLY AFTER GOING THROUGH TONS OF LIST TO FIND THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN FILLED!!!! WE ARE AMAZING PEOPLE!!! 😆😆

  74. I cried last year when this happened. And I’m crying again. Jenny, you are an incredible person who inspires others to be incredible too. Thank you.

  75. Usually Amazon and I are friends but not today. I can create a list but can’t add an address and I’m not able to link. I thought maybe it was because it was a kindle book, but it isn’t. My screen doesn’t look like Jenny’s example above. As soon as I click public that’s it. No details button. Anyway, I hoped to receive a kindle edition of Unmentionable: A Victorian Guide to Sex, Marriage and manners. I know it’s a pain but my list is searchable. Byethebays@gmail.com. Thanks, guys. 😞

  76. I’m recovering from abdominal surgery. My 5th in 3 years. Thought there was one issue, but when they went in they found they’d left an object in from 3 surgeries ago. While I’ve been recovering from surgery, a family member decided to go completely crazy and said horrible, untrue things about myself and my kids to my husband in an attempt to hurt my marriage. The hubby is awsome and just sadly shook his head at them. Anyways, it’s been a hard month. Books are my escape from the pain. Here’s an book I’d love to escape into-

  77. I am here mostly to give because that makes me feel good & I’m having some medical issues today. I don’t have Prime but hopefully it won’t matter. 😂

  78. Hello! Underemployed freelancer and long-time blog reader. Stressed by searching for more work, waiting on payments, and feeling a bit useless. Trying to spend on just necessities for now so a little treat would be nice. http://a.co/hhHoqO8

  79. I love sending books to strangers! And I love going to a list and seeing that it’s empty because someone beat me to it!

  80. Y’all. I’m trying to find a book that was mentioned up a LONG ways. It’s a fiction book, and it’s not out yet. I hadn’t heard of it, and I want to check it out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it because I hope someone already bought it for someone. So I’m wondering if someone could venture a guess about the title.

  81. Fangirl alert, haha… Jenny, this is my first comment, though I’ve read and re-read LPTNH since discovering it, and FH for months too. You get me! I real-meaning-of-the-word-LITERALLY laugh out loud when reading your books and don’t care who sees me, because giggling into a book means I’m happy in that moment – and anyone who doesn’t like that can suck it! 🙂

I don’t know if I can play along from Canada with your Booksgiving Day, but I’d like to! Here’s my list, and I’ll look for someone else’s too: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=3CELZRG21WGG4&type=wishlist

  82. I’ve been looking forward to this since last year, it’s so much fun to see what everyone else is reading! I love opening someone’s wishlist only to find it already empty 🙂

God knows I have enough books already, but if anyone feels inclined my list is here: http://a.co/4hcrwSW I’ve been inspired to read more books about badass women lately.

Love to everyone out there spreading positivity when we need it most <3

  83. I have been having a really rough time with school and struggling to find my place in this world — and be happy with the person I’ve become. It’s always great to have a bit of an escape and DnD has always been my escape (even if I don’t get to play it very often).

    My wishlist is here: http://a.co/6Gqil7z
    Location: Canada

  84. I’m not going to lie. I started a list after last year’s Booksgiving, and have been adding to it all year. Like a lot of folk, things are rough for me right now. Being on a limited income and unable to go out for another try at the working world, as if anyone wants to hire me at my age at a wage that would actually pay well enough for me to get there, blah, blah, blah. I looked over the list and do not have a current top favorite, so if someone wants to surprise me, I would be most grateful. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1OQ605AIOX1BR/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2

  85. I am so excited about Jenny’s new book coming out! I would love a copy if any are left. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=2E86UJXM7O1ZD&type=wishlist
(wishlist item for her new book)

This books-giving is awesome Jenny! You have brilliant ideas. Thank you for sharing them with all of us, to make our days brighter too. Now I am off to look up other people’s wishlists. It is so much fun to send packages in the mail!

  86. That was ridiculously fun! Yay for book buying and spreading joy! Thank you, Jenny, for this. All of it.

  87. I’ve went through and bought a few books for people – but what I’ve really noticed is how many EMPTY lists there are because books have already been bought! HOW AMAZING!

  88. Hope this didn’t post twice…

First, I want to say that I loved Booksgiving last year. It came at a time when I really needed… something. Giving felt so good. I saw all of the names, and needs and it just felt good to read all of the beautiful and sometimes heartbreaking posts. I remember the day that books came for me in the mail, and I wept. I mean sobbed at my mailbox. The feeling was so unexpected. Not because I was poor, or because I was sick, but because I just didn’t know how much I needed to know that someone gave a damn about me. It made me feel broken, and whole, and helpless, and hopeful, and beautiful. It made me give more. And made me hope for this experience again. Thank you Jenny. Thank you strangers. I hope you get what you need, and what you want, and even something unexpected.

I am not ill, unless you count my mind. I am not financially in need. I have not experienced a recent tragedy (unless you count the state of our country). But my heart goes out to all who have. I am unbelievably anxious. And I am often sad and worried. And while I won’t drag politics into this place, I am more afraid than I have ever been. I am more active for women, and the world, and my children. I am planting more and more in my garden, because I can’t stop thinking “just in case.” My husband saved and saved to send me for a week in Scotland in March. Because I’ve never been, and always wanted to, and I have never been away from my two children for more than a weekend. Ever. Because I desperately need a break. From working, and stressing, and loving… to find myself.

I’ve been writing a book this last year, and writing all my life, and I hope it because something great, or at least good. I work for myself, but I’m toying with going back to an office just for the security. I finished my degree. I’m trying desperately to find my way. But first I need to find myself. I’m sorry if my list (and my story) is a little lengthy, I just don’t know. Books are great for that though, aren’t they? They help you reflect, and figure it out, and answer questions that we need answers to.

  89. Not to be crabby, because I really enjoyed the opportunity to send books to others, but wanted to mention to people requesting books – I am much more likely to send you a book if you have one or two (or an adult and child/children) than if you post a whole list. If you have a list I can’t tell if you have already received one, so I move on to someone with only one listed. Seriously, not to be a downer, actually trying to be helpful.

  90. saintbernardpup I saw now your list, I tried to get one but the address didn’t show up (It worked once, already, so I think I finally understood how it works lol). Can you check and see if your shipping address is public?

  91. I love this and am going to see if any of the books I have are on people’s wishlists so that I can send them away! But if someone wanted to help me through the things which are my life right now, this book would be the one, thanks for putting these positive vibes out in the universe Jenny and co!

    http://a.co/4nVUXEK

  92. Hoping for you are here, would help to color during periods of high anxiety ☺️

  93. Dana please make sure your wishlist is public (it’s either empty because someone already bought it, or it’s not showing contents).

  94. Emotional Awareness: Overcoming the Obstacles to Psychological Balance and Compassion

    http://a.co/12q27qU

I already have your books, Jenny, and pre-ordered the new one! Thank you for being awesome and weird and broken and stubborn….it helps me feel not alone…and like I can be awesome too sometimes. <3

  95. C.Hodges – did you enter your address? It doesn’t come up with the option to ship to you.

  96. I love booksgiving! It made my son’s day last year, he loved getting a new book as a surprise in the mail. I love that you do this Jenny. Books and giving spread cheer and we all need some cheer!

Thank you and I am off to gift a book.

    If anyone feels so inclined:
    http://a.co/7iGx8PW

  97. PS–You are amazing and this is such a wonderful idea.

PPS–My BF is the person who introduced your books to me. He told me he thought I could relate to the things you write about; he was right.

    Keep on writing!

  98. Books are on the way to #226 (heather) and #259 (suzyquzey)! Enjoy! Sending good thoughts your way along with the books!

Thanks for hosting this, Jenny. I am so proud to be part of your tribe~

  99. Apparently my latest obsession/addiction is sending books to strangers. I can’t stop and I love it!! Thanks Jenny.

  100. Thank YOU Jenny! For being so generous with your life, your time and your creativity. I love this idea of book sharing. Awaiting your next book(s) with baited breath (does that mean I have a sardine on my tongue or a tethered lamb?)
Will your book tour come to Canada? Specifically the most beautiful city in the world – Victoria BC? We have lovely bookstores that would be delighted to have you. 🙂

  101. Melody(comment 312) I went to by the Tonsil Book for your son and there wasnt an address to send it too….

  102. Melody #312: Please add your shipping address! I want to send your kiddo the tonsil book!

  103. Jenni | February 7, 2017 at 11:44 am The Phantom Tollbooth has always been my happy book to read when I’m stressed. I gave my copy away to a friend that I felt needed it more than me, and I haven’t gotten another.

Don’t see your address, would you check it?

  104. I don’t need a book this year, but I wanted to tell you that a little over a year ago when I was in preterm labor with my now one year old I was literally reading”Friously Happy” in the labor and delivery room between contractions and it made it so much better. My daughter ended up waiting until a little closer to her due date, but your book saved me from bed rest despair.

  105. I got divorced six months ago but it still feels like yesterday. I moved to a new state and started a new job to try to get away from the memories. I need help moving on, so maybe these books will help? I’m going to try to find some free therapy/counseling too, because unfortunately my insurance doesn’t have a copay for mental health sessions… ugh.

    http://a.co/aaE4AIK

  106. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS. Last year when you did it, I had just been diagnosed with early preeclampsia and told I probably wouldn’t carry the baby long enough for him to survive, and I was too frazzled to even read, I just spent my days in a ball of anxious misery. I did carry him (almost!) to term, he was born about a month early. He’s strong and healthy and perfect. I would love a copy of a book on how to incorporate the Jewish tradition of Mussar into my daily life. It’s like Jewish mindfulness, sort of? I’ve also included a couple of books of inspirational quotes for my daughter, who is 13 and having a really hard time. Her dad and step mom treat her horribly and she’s been self-harming and now she’s missing a lot of school for therapy. She needs all the help she can get. She’s a big reader, and an aspiring writer, so I included Stephan King’s “On Writing” for her as well. Any suggestions on good books for her would be appreciated, she devours YA books like they’re going out of style.

Jenny, you’re the best. And this community is also the best.

  107. Mama Reads Blog – yours is on the way! It may take a little extra time, but you’ll have it in the next week or so. ENJOY!!!

  108. omg thank you everyone, your so sweet. Second year of happy tears. I love you guys so much. It’s like little early birthday gifts to remind me what the sun feels like despite it being February and the sun doesn’t seem to exist during this month here.

  109. Jenny, my day is ALWAYS brighter when you post and I get to look forward to reading. If you’re still giving away copies of you are here, id love to read it <3

  110. This is so awesome! PROOF that life is wonderful and full of magic! This book will be a physical reminder of that for me whenever my brain tries to make me think otherwise!

  111. Jenny, this is great! Sometimes a book can be our greatest escape. I work at my local library and love seeing everyone reading in their own little worlds. I can’t wait to read your new book. I started with Furiously Happy (I got my signed copy last week in the mail) and I still need to read the first book. Best of luck to you!
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/38UCM1PKG1X70/ref=cm_wl_list_o_2?
Can’t wait to buy a book for someone and spread this news around!

  112. Alice #336: Please add your shipping address! I want to send books to your daughter!

  113. Natalie #337 I got so excited when I saw what you requested that I had to get it for you. Best book I’ve read in a long time.

  114. anon 353 I fixed it! I’m so sorry I didn’t get it right the first time. :/ Don’t give up on Beth because I’m a mess.

  115. Jenny and Biscuit would make my daughter and I super happy! Thing are tight this month but I can’t wait to come back next year and buy a few books for others! This should be a monthly thing! Then I could give to someone else sooner!

    Link: http://a.co/bruVgX5

  116. The world is just too scary-real right now…I need to build up a fortress of other worlds! Books that I loved as a child/teen seem like just what the doctor ordered. I listed a handful, any one would be lovely. (And now I’m off to see who I can give a book to, too!)

  117. I love you guys so much it’s painful. I’ve given away 30 books and it took forever because so often by the time I’d get to the next list it was already filled. THAT IS MAGIC. Thank you for reminding me how good people can be. I’m going to take a break and then come back and give out a few more because this is exactly what I needed this week. I hope it’s what you needed too.

Thank you for being better than cake.

  118. You, Mrs. Jenny Lawson are the AMAZEBALLS one in this tribe! The TRIBAL LEADER!!
I’m not worthy!! (BOWING AT YOUR GREATNESS) !!

  119. PS I love looking through these lists and getting more book ideas for my own personal wishlist! <3

  120. That’s a lovely idea which you need to spread into the real world. I don’t have a reason to get a free book but I’m disappointed you aren’t giving out llamas.

  121. Uh oh…looks like Mrsgrrrs is getting two Biscuit books and one Jenny Lawson book 🙂

  122. If I could afford it, I’d by 100 copies of this book and give one to everyone who needs it:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1509814302/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3TJVJMBQL014A

Since I can’t afford it, I bought one book for one person, from her wish list.

Here’s a drawing book I’d like for myself:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/10DHWAY6V7258/ref=cm_wl_list_o_0?

(I just bought the 100 Hugs book on your recommendation but I accidentally bought two so I’ll be giving the other to a friend who needs it. Thank you for sharing it. ~ Jenny)

  123. Alice #336: I just send Whatever You Are, Be a Good One for your daughter. 13 is such a tough age. Lots of love. <3

  124. hi, i have a 22 year old daughter with bipolar disorder, wondering which of jenny’s books you would recommend for her. i will buy it, and the same one for someone off their wish list, just looking for some direction on the one that may be her best introduction to jenny! thanks!

  125. Yay! I did it! cryswhiltshire (#359) enjoy your book! I tried last year, but came late to the party and couldn’t find someone to give a book to. I ended up buying both of Jenny’s books and sending them to one of my closest friends instead. I may have to buy her another one though. Now it’s tradition.

  126. I’m gonna bankrupt, but I don’t care. Maureen Forest, Jenny’s book is on the way! Or will be, when it launches in March hahaha
    Enjoy it!
Got to be one of the best afternoons of my life

    Much light for everyone!

  127. Jenny, I gave my copy of Furiously to a friend who was in the hospital for severe depression and would really like another one. It really helped him!
I certainly understand if you’ve already given away all you can. Love you Booksgiving SOOOO much! it feels really good to buy a book for a stranger! {{{HUGS}}!!!!!

  128. Allison #273. Go look at your wishlist to see if its empty!! Because it IS!! It’s on the way!!

  129. @Meg from comment #132 – Just sent Romeo and/or Juliet: A Chooseable-Path Adventure your way, because, OMG, I had now idea this book existed! I also promptly added it to my wish list 🙂

  130. Or try this one…maybe it was wrong cause I went through smile.amazon.com that donates to charities.

  131. Sara A at 11:38AM – your book is on the way for you and daughter! Happy reading!

  132. I would love a copy of let’s pretend this never happened. I’ve bought the book 4 times and every time I loan it to someone it never comes back. But that’s okay because that means they are getting to enjoy and love the book as much as I do. You are a bright spot on dark days for me and I can’t tell you how much you help. Thank you so much.

  133. Im posting this late so I doubt it will get seen. I work in a school district and it’s been rough dealing with the political fall out. A lot of scared crying children to tend to, making it a real struggle for me to get out of bed in the mornings. My depression and anxiety are at their worst, but your blog and tweets make me smile. Thank you, Jenny

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=1ROIXIPIZTW0B&type=wishlist

  134. Kelly (370-ish?) – one for you and one for bub on the way, both from authors I simply love. Happy reading!

  135. Anonymous #393, Daddy Longlegs, Dear Enemy, and Unhooked are on their way to you. Enjoy!

  136. I’ve been eyeing this book about a little girl who overcomes frustration for my two-year-old who gets overwhelmed when she can’t figure something out right away. (Don’t we all know how THAT feels!) How cool to be able to show her how we can help others by participating in an event like this! Way to help us help each other, Jenny!! 🙂
    http://a.co/9lZ6lEk
I’m excited to see what’s on others’ lists!

  137. Thank you everyone who bought Alex books. He was saying this morning that he wanted to make some friends in Kentucky city and he was kinda sad. He doesn’t understand why the other kids don’t play with him. He doesn’t know that he’s different. Autism isn’t a word a 6 year old understands. To him he’s just a kid just like all the other kids and he just wants to have friends. And he should. He’s the best little boy in the world and in any meaningful way he’s not different. Sorry got off of point for a minute there. Point is I was able to show him all the books ya’ll bought for him and say “look Alex you have friends all over the world now!” He’s so happy. Thank you for that. Bless all of you.
    http://a.co/0SUKYSc

  138. The book that would make me absolutely cry is a book of paintings by Lisa Yuskavage. But that one’s kind of expensive so I put a few others (some Neil Gaiman and You Are Here) on my list. Don’t send more than one! I’m about to go into the comments and send a couple to someone else, because yay books and yay surprise mail! Happy Booksgiving!!!

    http://a.co/1tF2GPm

  139. Melanie-312, Wanted to get your daughter the book before her surgery but there’s no shipping address:(

  140. Thank you!!!! to everyone who already tried to send my daughter her book. I grovel my apologies for forgetting my shipping address.

  141. Nichole – Thank you! I am crying right now, but good tears. This means a lot to me. {{{Virtual Hug}}}

  142. I have both the paperback and the ebook on the list because I have no preference and there’s a significant price difference (can you do ebooks with wishlists???). Happy with used if that’s able to be done on wishlists. This is truly escapist and goodness knows we need to escape a bit right now! And I highly recommend her Lux series if you’re looking for a good YA series.

  143. Hey this is super fun, I love that I had to click through a few lists before finding ones that weren’t already fulfilled. Jenny, my fitness challenge group is doing a “random acts of kindness” week for Valentine’s week so I shared this post in the group. I hope that’s ok!

  144. Melody! The book will be there on Thursday! Best wishes for your little one’s surgery! <3

  145. Shipping address should be updated. I thought I did that, but it was for another wish list.

  146. Jenny, Booksgiving is such a lovely idea!! I just bought 2 books for complete strangers, and I feel really good about it. Just what I needed! I’ve been at home sick with a sinus infection for the last few days, and Booksgiving is a nice way to reconnect with the outside world. Thanks for initiatiing this
fantastic donation project. Kudos to you!

  147. CCross: I don’t have words. Except thank you–so very much! You can’t possibly know how much you have just made my day; you have made me cry in the best way. Thank you for your generosity. Those books will have special meaning for me knowing they were sent by someone who cared.

    Again, thank you.

  148. This is such an amazing community! I feel so lucky to be able to fulfill some of these book wishes! You people are truly amazing!

  149. Barbara Sullivan, I sent your book love. I figured out how to do it without it being on your wishlist 😘

  150. Danni S #408 – Happy Booksgiving! Books for you and your little dude will arrive on Thursday. hugs

  151. I love this idea!!! Here is my list: http://a.co/8Y4t5FY

I find it hard to spend money on myself when I have littles and a household to run but I love to buy gifts for other. Hoping I can brighten a few people’s day too! <3

Thank you for this opportunity!! <3 <3 <3

  152. Melody, Someone beat me to it! 🙂 Hope your daughter’s tonsillectomy goes well!

  153. You know what else is great about Booksgiving? I have Amazon points so I bought a bunch of books for people and didn’t actually spend any money!!!
    #TheBloggessForPresident #ILoveYou

  154. For my wife, who won’t buy herself these books but keeps the running list anyway…

  155. http://a.co/5gAXOdh

SO in June, my cousin stabbed my uncle to death, and last week plead guilty. To say it’s been a hard time lately would be an understatement. I desperately need some good books to hide from reality right now.

  156. I have both books and have preordered the latest one. Thank you so much for sharing as you do. It creates incredible connections. Now to buy a book for someone.😊

  157. Love this idea, and love that people are buying so fast it’s hard keeping up with people to buy for!

MULLY – Tried to buy for you but your address isn’t linked to your list!

  158. A friend suggested this one to me so I plan to read then pass it around to a few friends who could use it.

Now to find a book that hasn’t already been bought to give to someone else!

  159. I hope next year I”ll be the one buying books for others. But I can’t this year. And I’m a voracious reader, but in the last few months I’ve been too despondent to think straight, or work enough, let alone read. So I put a happy, fantasy romance-and-royals book on my list. God, it would feel nice to escape this world for a bit. (Uh, by reading. I’m not going to hurt myself. Now anyway. I don’t know if I can survive 4 years of this fury.)

I hope you’re all doing a better job taking care of yourselves than I am.

  160. My two year old is really into rhyming books these days. And my 3 month old is into whatever his big brother is doing! 🙂 http://a.co/2RajHXw Such a great idea! (I hope this doesn’t post twice – I don’t think it went through the first time…)

  161. Jenny, when you replied to my post “looks like it’s already on the way,” is that because I did not put “Furiously Happy” in my wish list? I didn’t put two and two together to do that. (I for some reason imagined you autographing it and sending it out.) I’ll add it to my list now. Hopefully I am not too late!! My list link: http://a.co/bC8v21Y

Thanks again for doing this!! 🙂

  162. I think this is the greatest idea!! I am so excited to buy a few books for people!

Furiously Happy has saved me over and over again from very dark places. (I have even written a nice lonnnng note to Jenny on Goodreads- even though I have read her books and am therefore aware that she is the worst at checking messages. ) I am excited that I get an opportunity to brighten other people’s days a bit!

Here is my list, I have included a few books on it, and I am not picky about which if any of them I receive- but this way there are purchasing options. I am currently working toward being more actively, furiously, happy. The books I have chosen all reflect that.

  163. Fiona (489) – kannst du bitte eine Liste auf amazon.de machen und die Link (den Link? das Link?) hier posten? Ich würde gerne dir ein Buch schicken lassen!

  164. I added several because a) I’d appreciate any one of them, b) varying prices to make it easier for folks and c) varying ideas in case folks want to share recommendations based on them! Like I said, I’d appreciate any one of them and would squeal in delight to get one [no kidding – my friends know]. I’ve been having to take a lot of unpaid FMLA lately while dealing with my bipolar disorder [type 2] and changing up medications, so I’ve been drowning myself in books and audiobooks that I had [audiobooks are great for when you’re getting ready in the morning, or doing weekly/monthly meal prep!]. Annnnd now that I’ve written a novel of TMI….

  165. My daughters will love that book, Erin Cook! Thank You! Enjoy some Jenny Lawson coming your way in March! <3

  166. I live in Canada 🙂

I’ve made a wish list of a few books that I would love to read but aren’t available at my library. I love this idea and one of the books on my list was discovered through someone else’s list… I’m enjoying finding out about new books!

I’ve recently gone through a very sudden and unexpected loss and I’m trying to find books that deal with death and grief as comfort through this process. If you have any suggestions of anything that has helped you, I would appreciate hearing them.

  167. I just bought a book for someone!
It is fun to help and receive.
I did put a list with few books for ma family and I.
But I wanted to help someone too

  168. Hi Erin (#531) – Hello from Canada as well – I am on the East Coast 🙂 I hit your link but your list does not appear to be public – can you update it? I send you lots of hugs in overcoming the loss you have faced.

  169. This has been such a great part of my day/year! I also have a 6 yo, Lisa and that’s what drew me to your list. I’m in my 30s and still struggle to make friends…and that’s ok. It makes the ones I have more precious, I think. And, he has you. That is a priceless gift.

And, thank you to whoever purchased my book. I can’t wait!

  170. Am I the last person to know there are swear word coloring books? I posted around 170ish I think. I put both Jenny’s books on there. I put both eBook and paperback on there because both read the same. One just doesn’t have the new book smell. I included a note saying if one version was missing it had been purchased and a thanks for taking the time to look. The limit is one book. Not trying to break the rules. If one gets purchased will empty the list of other book. Thanks for taking the time to look.

  171. Comment 118, Jo in Jakarta – This feed of comments is such a beautiful sign that someone, somewhere cares- even if that someone is located in Utah roughly 5 trillion miles from you. (ok… slight exaggeration) I have also felt that way many many times, and Furiously Happy is one of my favorite reminders that people care.
I hope you enjoy your book!

  172. Jenny, have we told you recently how awesome you are! May we? Your are AWESOME.
You have started some wonderful traditions.

  173. Jamie I lost your comment but you had such a similar book to the one I picked that I just had to get it for you. Enjoy!

  174. I would love either book of Jenny’s on list. Just discovered them today and suffering depression and, anxiety. Was thrilled to discover these, think they will help me.

  175. hi there! I prefer to send a book to someone else before I ask for one. But won’t have the funds until next week (15th)… can we leave these open for a little bit?

  176. Last year someone did a kindness and made a consolidated list of wish lists that hadn’t been filled yet, because it’s hard to see them all! I don’t see one yet, so I made this one. Maybe someone can run with it from here, or I can update it later today…:

  177. As an English teacher in a low-income, urban district where we just ran out of paper for the year, I cannot tell you how excited my students were last year to receive new books that they had actual interest in. Booksgiving made a huge difference in my classroom, and it definitely helped my students in ways I didn’t know it could. They’d actually stay after school to look through my library and borrow books.

This year, students have been requesting me to request books that help them feel better about themselves, especially since the election. Politics aside, my students are lacking self-worth this year. I’ve been working on an Amazon wishlist to expand my library with books that can help them. If anyone wishes to help some teenagers find themselves in books, it’d be truly appreciated.

I look forward to making someone else’s day like Booksgiving made mine last year. Thank you for doing this again. It really does save lives. <3

    http://a.co/eroJM7V

  178. Thank you to my lovely and generous benefactors, Jennifer and Dee Ann (who I thought was my sister, and when I thanked her for it, she was all, “Schwa?”). You have definitely made my day brighter! xo

  179. For some reason it doesn’t like this big post.. maybe it will work now. Last year someone did a kindness and made a consolidated list of wish lists that hadn’t been filled yet, because it’s hard to see them all! I don’t see one yet, so I made this one. Maybe someone can run with it from here, or I can update it later today…:

(Note from Jenny: It’s because your comment has a lot of links so the blog thinks it’s spam and moderates it. I published the last one though so it’s up now. 🙂 Thanks! Quite a few didn’t have the book they chose bought because they forgot to assign a shipping address but maybe they’ll come back and fix it. ~ Jenny)

  180. Michelle (#550) Please make your address public on Amazon–there’s no way to send the book!

  181. 2girls2stories1blog #265: Please add your shipping address! I want to get the book for your kiddo!

  182. Melissa (#64) hope these help you feel a bit better.

Florencia (#153) books on their way- enjoy!

It’s lovely that you’ve engendered and fostered such a lovely and giving community Jenny! Cheers to everyone!

  183. Daniel (comments 496 & 499) a surprise is on it’s way for your wife! I hope she enjoys it!

  184. http://a.co/4dyi4

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/wishlist/9R8LGL1ZA0BY/ref=cm_wl_list_o_2?

Im not sure what list will work.

It is mostly kids books. I don’t really have a lot for them and would like to have a little diversity. they know the books by heart now haha. It is cute but if I could add few it would be nice.
Also have book for my piece of mind at nigh…My hubby is often gone it means that I have to take care of everything and I am often drained. I am a really slow reader because I mostly fall asleep in the middle of reading 🙁

I went trough a 3 years depression and I found Jenny’s book. It really helped me and made me smile more too so for that thank you

  185. I help run an English Conversation Group at the library where I work. I chose two beautiful books that will help share idioms and common sayings with our “students”.

This is such a fun holiday! I have already shared the love. 🙂

    http://a.co/0yUzj0l

  186. Having so much fun buying books (and finding books I want to read) and am so happy so find so many lists empty!

    Happy Booksgiving folks!

  187. I’m having such a bad day. I’ve lost two freelance jobs – one offered to let me write for free (nice, right.) And ironically, it’s covering books. I write about books. But no one wants to pay for people to write about books. I love books, and interviewing authors. Anyway, I would like a book. Really, I wish someone could just send me their favorite book (I have all of Jenny’s of course.) But I’m asking for Hillbilly Elegy because I heard it’s excellent.
    http://a.co/0cP5HxN

  188. I was all excited for booksgiving thinking this year I could do the purchasing. Instead after a complicated pregnancy and delivery and realizing my insurance isn’t so great I now find my self with several thousands of dollars in medical bills and 10 weeks of unpaid maternity leave :/ life keeps on handing me lemons, I wish it would at least hand me limes so I could make a margarita. So at any rate, instead I find myself making a wish list this year. There is an item for me and one for my daughter as well as she’s been having a tough time with mean girls at school. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3M8UHMNPICT2L/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

  189. This is so much fun! Booksgiving should be twice a year. Buying for other people is so much more enjoyable. Although in addition to the books I gifted I did buy the 100 Hugs book Daniel recommended for myself. The plan is to enjoy 100 Hugs then pass it along to any friend in need of hugs. So still kind of Booksgiving-y.

  190. It has been absolutely amazing to watch the activity on this thread just over a few hours! I’ve sent one copy of each of Jenny’s books to three different people in three different states, and I now feel justified in posting my own list, not because I need it financially jut because I want to be part of this great network of books and support!

Since I already have (or have pre-ordered) all of Jenny’s books, I chose a book that I saw on several people’s lists here and I’m taking it as a sign of serendipity that I should check it out! Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur. https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/3KGS2H2JOCE1I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ip_wl_o_UqJMybCD41ZHP

Thanks bloggess peeps for all the cheer and love you’re sending out into the world!

  191. This is getting addictive! Jenny was right, the giving part is definitely the best bit. Excited to think of the folks who’ll be getting their books tomorrow, delivered by grumpy Amazon logistics delivery guys. Oh crap, sorry for sending grumpy guys to your doors, hope the books make up for it 😀

  192. Saraco #133, one for your kids (this week) and You Are Here for you.
Getting my money’s worth on that prime subscription today 🙂

  193. Brian Lawrence (@WriteFWF), comment 334 – please add your address on your wishlist & I’m happy to send this book to you! 🙂

“You have to assign a shipping address to that specific wish list or it won’t go to you. EVERY new wishlist has to be assigned an address or you won’t get your stuff. So click on your wish list and click on “public” and it’ll take you to “List settings”. Click “view details” and where it says “shipping address” add yours. (Your city will be shown to others, but not your full address.) Then save changes.”

  194. This is such a wonderful idea! I just started grad school for library science, and that on top of everything political happening right now, I could use an escape! http://a.co/3ZFLvOI

  195. #588 I am an ESL teacher too and I want to send your books! But I don’t think your address is set up correctly.

  196. #588, I am an ESL teacher too and I want to send you your books! But, I don’t think your address is set up properly. If you see this and fix it, I will hook you up.

  197. This makes me so happy. Thank you Jenny and thank you Booktribe for participating again this year. There is good. We are the good!

  198. Daniel (comment 496) All the Light We Cannot See is on it’s way. I hope your wife enjoys it as much as I did. Cheers!

  199. i’m definitely thinking it’s an omen that i don’t deserve a book bc i’ve tried posting twiceakready now. thing have been tough lately. my mom passed away in november and to say that things are rough is the biggest. understatement. ever. i added a book to my list for the kiddo bc he deserves it. there’s one in there on empathy and how to help others through their hard times (illustrated by the funny Emily McDowell) and then a more fun romp. i don’t expect all three i just like options. Id really appreciate the book for the kiddo bc it’s a happy time for all when we can read together. thank you and have a super day. xo.

  200. while i cannot afford to buy anyone a book right now i just have to say this is really uplifting to see other people helping each other out. plus it’s nice to know i’m not alone in struggling right now. we’ll all get through this…TOGETHER!

  201. Mims @309 – I was so excited to send you “A Man Called Ove” because I just finished it and LOVED it! Someone had already bought it for you so ENJOY!!!

  202. Books are my escape from the world of anxiety, severe depression, and self harm. The last four years have been so many steps past awful I wouldn’t even know where to start. Deaths, suicides, suicide attempts, betrayal of good friends, health problems…I’ve barely been able to face the world. Words give me something to hold onto in the darkness that has been slowly consuming me for years.
I sent a lot of books last year, and am going to look for some to send right now. It’s more fun this way.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=3ICVJSF143NWT&type=wishlist

  203. is there a way to send other books that i love( that aren’t on their list) to people who seem to have similar interests?

  204. Kat,
Thank you for the kind words. Everytime Jenny runs one of these things I turn into a real watering pot. Ridiculous I guess but here it goes n e wayz. Thank you. I really do appreciate it. The words meant more than I can say. I worry about him so much and it’s just hard. There’s no one to talk to about this stuff to the rest of the year and it’s nice to know someone else cares besides me. Thanks again

  205. #619 – Thanks so much!! I think I fixed the address. I tried to use existing, but just added it to that list specifically.

  206. I don’t need a book for myself right now but I would love to get a reader or two hooked on some grossly unappreciated Canadian authors (Giles Blunt, Ann Y.K. Choi, Amy Jones to name a few).

I’ll keep checking the comments if anyone is interested or send me your wish list link to my twitter handle: lonealien (lone_alien)

  207. I love this idea! I am sick with a chest cold that is migrating to a head cold, my job is stressful, it was my birthday on Saturday, and it’s the fourth time in recent years that I have been sick on or around my birthday (honestly, shouldn’t there be some sort of rule about this?). These are all minor complaints but I could still really use an escape.

    Here is my book: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=15PDWGQEBL1WX&type=wishlist

  208. Thank you Lisa B.! I just switched my list to “private” because I have been gifted with a book and want to play fair. Thanks again Lisa and of course, Jenny.

  209. #511 – a couple of books are on there way. I don’t have prime so they will take a few days!

  210. Andrea (#610) kick that cancer’s ass! Your book will arrive on its release date. Enjoy! love and hugs from FL!

  211. P.S. ~ My sweet English Mastiff was diagnosed with bone cancer yesterday. I need an escape or I don’t know if these tears will ever stop. 😞

  212. Kate 514 / 515 — I can see the list for your kids wishlist, but not yours. The link just takes me to my wishlist, which I already know about. 😉 Please repost!

  213. cassie! 628! i got you briars and embers. i hope you enjoy and know you’re loved. xoxox.

  214. peggy! 623! thank you so much. actually just told my fella and burst into tears. the dogs are looking at me like i’m crazy which is nothing new. thank you so much. i really appreciate it. thank you. just simply thanks. xoxox!!!

  215. Nicole, comment 616 – Jenny’s book, Furiously Happy, is on its way! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And best wishes on your grad studies! 🙂

  216. Jennifer Anne #636: World Without End will be at your doorstep on Thursday. I’m so sorry about your pup. I hope this helps a little!

  217. I just picked up a couple books for strangers because making other people smile makes my day. 😊
My S.A.D. is kicking my butt right now, and I would love a book to make me laugh or read aloud to my kids (because snuggle time is the best!) I like surprises, so any one of these would be awesome.
Much love to Jenny and this community. I love belonging to your tribe.

  218. Everyone has posted such heartfelt stories, and it has emboldened me to share mine.

I’ve always collected things – grief of losing too many friends WAY too young, guilt, too many obligations, diagnoses, later psychotropic pharmaceuticals for bipolar disorder and anxiety. I teach, and this year got the better of me. Now I am (negatively) collecting my sick days in the form of FMLA, after I ended up in the hospital with a 4 day panic attack, giving scary answers to scary questions about things like suicide. I tried to go back to work, and was vomiting both before and after work because of the anxiety, something I’ve done since I was a kid when the anxiety was running way too high. It was time to step away.

I’d like to collect something positive now. I’ve always been a reader. It’s been my escape since I was a kid, when I would hide from the world in my closet and read, because of social anxiety.

I’d like to combine my loves by starting the Penguin Drop Caps collection. But, there are 26, and I don’t know where to start. Would you make my choice for me? Here are my top 6:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2T5318DU93HHX/ref=cm_wl_list_o_14

  219. I don’t know if my comment posted before but I have a friend who is going through a lot right now and she isn’t on this booksgiving but I am sending her out a copy of Furiously Happy because it helped me so much! This will be the 5th time I have gifted Furiously Happy to someone I think can benefit from it!

  220. I had the bright idea to get books for my husband’s brother’s kids for Christmas (because they have every toy imaginable and I love picking out books for kids) and got nothing but snark in return. So I’m very happy to have a chance to get some books for people who are going to really enjoy them!

  221. Hi Cassie! (#626) Eleanor and Park is on its way to you. I absolutely LOVED this book! I hope it brings you a ray of sunshine through the dark. We’re all rooting for you! Much love from FL!

  222. Kailynn 559, one of your books for your students is on its way. What a great list you’ve put together!! 🙂

  223. LAL #647 Thank you soooo much! I loved Jenny’s first book and have been waiting a long time to read this one!

  224. Yay, Booksgiving! Best holiday ever. Unfortunately I can’t afford to give any this time, which makes me sad. Maybe if there are any unfulfilled wishes left when my next pay check rolls around. In the meantime, I’m just going to let all the generosity in this community warm my heart. 🙂

  225. Anonymous at #649, it’s on it’s way to you – Jenny’s first book was a life-changer! <3 Enjoy!

  226. Nicole (644) – This is Kate 515. Believe it or not, Kate 514 is an entirely different Kate who just happened to post at the exact same time as me! I hope she gets your message and posts a link that works so that she can get her books too 🙂

  227. A book for mom and a book for son. Thank you so much. I am really not too picky. New, used, I really don’t care. This is something so amazing that I did not even know about. Jenny, you never cease to amaze with all that you do. You give laughter and strength to so many. Blessings and love to you.

  228. Jenni – Post 250, tried to send you “The Phantom Tollbooth” but no shipping address. Can you update?

  229. Lain, # 614
I have been reading all the comments hoping to find the person who bought the book…to realise as well that you bought one for my child and one for me?!?!
this is sooo nice of you!!!
Thank you very much I am so happy right now!! You cannot know how much I needed that little happiness in my life today!!
I cannot say thank you enough!!

  230. Gila (638): no, none of them are. Giles Blunt is an excellent mystery series set in Northern Ontario, Ann AY Choi is a story of first-generation Canadian immigrant woman and Amy Jones is a family dealing with dementia.

But those are just three suggestions. I can talk all night about great Canadian authors 🙂

  231. Bethany 652 A ( new copy) is on its way through a different seller so I don’t think it will vanish from your list but the order has been placed! Hope it is as lovely as it looks.

  232. Jenny, please allow me to join the chorus of how awesome you are 🙂
I lovelovelove the idea of Booksgiving…and your books are just amazing. I can’t wait to read your latest.
Oh…and I clicked on someone’s list and they are getting a copy of Sharon Draper’s ‘Out of My Mind’. Why? Because it’s a great book!
Annnd My phone died shortly after transaction completed, so I cannot find the originating comment of whose list I clicked on…Ooops.
(Their list was titled something like “Books I Want But I probably won’t get…’ so I had to say:Challenge accepted. You ARE getting a book, my friend… I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!)

  233. Shannon (671). Good luck with your studies. You’ll have your book when it’s released in March

  234. I’m giving birth to a Mexican/American baby boy in April and it’s been tough thinking about the country he’s about to enter. I can only hope that he’ll be too young to be affected by the negativity going on right now. I’ve read all of Jenny’s books, so I put a David Sedaris book on my list because he never fails to cheer me up. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1ZZGD4UXISRLU/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2

Gifting also brightens the day, so I can’t wait to gift a book to someone else as well!! I’ve tried book swaps at work, but people usually just take instead of “swapping”.

  235. This Booksgiving is so awesome, and so many happy people about to get presents.
THANK YOU, JENNY, FOR DOING THIS.

I’m currently unemployed while getting sorted out what my work ability is, after a work injury and two (now permanently) bad knees. So money is tight and book-purchases has to be low on my priority list. A horror for a book-lover like me who reads about 2 books a week (library is a lifesaver for my sanity).
I live in Denmark, Europe, so I have added from two lists:

    Ebooks (amazon.com)
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/GOIB24Z23VFS/ref=cm_wl_list_o_1?

Paper books (this is from Amazon UK, to save shipping and possible custom fee) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/3S2KQMEY5SGC4/ref=cm_wl_list_o_0?

  236. Life is hard and disconnected for so many people, isn’t it? Thank you for adding softness and connections – every bit adds up. <3

These past six years have been the hardest to date for my sons and I (not that life has ever been easy peasy lemon squeezey) but we keep doing out best to not give up. Everywhere we look kindness surrounds us, even if we are currently a tad isolated. It truly is the small gestures and acts that add up. Not feeling alone is rather ginormous.

My middle son is turning 14 years old this month (Feb 23). He is smart, kind and unique. Eee (his nickname) has his fair share of obstacles in the way his brain processes information (Autism) but he keeps on doing and growing. My youngest son (12 years old) cannot get enough of reading and I cannot keep up. There is a mixture of books on the list for them, us and for me. I can’t choose just one book because I am currently having an anxiety attack BUT Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales are my children’s favorites and they have been waiting to save up for the two listed. So, yeah. I guess those two. ☺

Thank you for even looking. For some odd reason I feel as if I just gave people access to my underwear drawer. Why is that? I’m weird? Yes, yes I am. And oh so grateful. <3 Christina

    http://a.co/9dtnk11

  237. Kailynn #559, Hidden Figures is on its way! Someone gifted it to me. so it only seemed right to pass it on 🙂

  238. Kailynn (#559), a complete set of Ms. Marvel is heading for your classroom. Enjoy!

  239. Happy booksgiving everyone! Thank you Jenny for creating such a wonderful way to share a little happiness! Here is my list to get me through the rest of this dreary winter: http://a.co/1FQxECg

Now I’m off to buy a book for a stranger and pass along a little happiness 🙂

  240. Happy Booksgiving! dustbunnychampion #651, a book is on the way. I hope snuggle time helps out with the SAD, and that you are getting a virtual hug along with the book from sun-starved Seattle. 🙂

This is my own list so I can play along too–Jenny’s new book is something I have been curious about since it was announced. I also added a read-aloud book, Robert Coles’ The Story of Ruby Bridges, because it is now much more important to me that my two nephews (8 & 4) know what real courage and compassion look like.

    http://a.co/8WhOgdT

  241. Hattie T #705: You should receive the book on Thursday. I lost my mom almost 5 years ago, and I miss her every single day. I sent this to you and your girl in honor of my mama. Please enjoy the gift with your daughter! <3

  242. Between the cold that never ends, my son’s cold that never ends, and the projected storm forecast that will likely cancel a very important services meeting about my son’s IEP for next year (and who knows what the news from today will mean for that!), I’m not having the best day. Booksgiving makes the day look so much better!

Thank you to anyone who chooses to buy a book from my list!

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/34NW7MSIYP5LT

  243. I don’t know if my former comment posted, since I can’t find it, and now I don’t remember what I typed. Of course. My dream book right now is The World of Ice and Fire: The Untold Story o Westeros and the Game of Thrones. These past few months have been..expensive. My beloved tabby of 15 years suddenly began losing weight. I took him to the vet and he had inoperable abdominal cancer. I, we, were devastated. I can’t remember ever crying so hard in my life. The situation was dire, and we only had about one day left with him. We got the dubious ‘privilege’ of having to euthanize him. I held him so tight, even after he was gone, and cried so hard I almost fell down from dizziness, my husband had to all but carry me out of the vets office. All told, I limped away with a shattered heart and my bank account $900 lighter. This caps off 4 years of misery and darkness. I’m was worried about me because I couldn’t see a way back. The scary part is not even caring anymore if there even is a way back.
Sorry, I shouldn’t have dumped all of that here.
My best wishes, for what they are worth, and my thanks go out to everyone here, the givers and the receivers. You guys always make the day brighter, and create a safe space for people like me. <3 <3

  244. Yay me. Thought that I had put our address in correctly but didn’t. I am using my oldest son’s account. I woke him up (he works midnight shift) for his help. Correct now?

P.S. We love used books. We normally get our books from thrift stores. 🙂 <3

  245. Kristie #661, Jenny’s books are on their way to you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

  246. Today been crying over politics because its just gotten to be too damn much. How am I supposed to teach my 6yo to be a decent human being when so many are proving not to be. This gives me hope. Jenny and her tribe just get things. Anyways, want nothing for myself but my kid would love this. I live to give him joy and help him grow to be the best person he can be. Yesterday he said he thinks he might become president because he doesn’t judge people for how they look and he thinks he’ll grow up to be a pretty nice person. Guess I’m doing something right.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/ref=cm_reg_rd-upd?ie=UTF8&id=1ZM6GH2WE5DR4&type=wishlist

  247. I swear, I am batting zero today. I posted under proofsheet accidentally, not Christina Tibbets. Sorry. I will not clog up this wonderful list any further with my air-headedness.

    As I said, above:

Yay me. Thought that I had put our address in correctly but didn’t. I am using my oldest son’s account. I woke him up (he works midnight shift) for his help. Correct now?

P.S. We love used books. We normally get our books from thrift stores. 🙂 ❤

  248. Booksgiving! I was so fortunate last year to receive two of jenny’s books, and I promised this year to pay it forward. The books immediately started being lent out to friends and family (and my therapist, ha ha), and they’re currently somewhere in Afghanistan, via my post lady giving it to her daughter. Jenny, you’re worldwide!

This year had sucked. I’m trying hard, but the gloom is thick. I’m trying to color a bit each day to try to get through.

Happy books giving everyone- I’m finding a few people to send goodie to.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3FNWYWA9IQ29Z/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

  249. Mrsgrrrs, Jenny’s latest will be headed your way as soon as it’s released! (I cancelled my duplicate Biscuit order). Enjoy!!

  250. Thank you Somer (#699), you picked the Nathan Hale book I have wanted to purchase for Eee for a long time! We will think of your kindness, as we learn about Harriet Tubman, together. ~Christina (Eee’s mom)

  251. Hi Gila comment #708 (if you happen to check back in). All 3 of your books are on their way (well, Jenny’s coloring book is preordered for you so technically it won’t come just yet). My daughter has been battling pneumonia since right after Christmas and I have to meet this week, yet again, with her IEP team to go over things that won’t be any fun at all to have to go over and the confirmation of DeVos makes me heart hurt and my stomach feel gross. I just wanted to let you know that I’m with you, mama! Hugs! Us mama bears have to stick together!

  252. Last year this happened at a time when everything was falling apart for me, so I thought I’m sending a book to someone to make their day better than mine. Within hours things started turning around for me. I totally believe in karma. This year I sent sent a book overseas to someone. I laugh, shipping cost as much as the book. It’s so worth it to make someone’s day!

  253. Iain!! (Post #664) You are a SUPERSTAR. (If my name still doesn’t appear, this is the previously “Anonymous” poster 249 whom you gifted to, and I created an account so I could like your post and to say how grateful I am.)
I see you’ve gifted to SEVERAL people today and I think in today’s world especially that’s extremely generous. Know that you’ve made another human smile all day long. 🙂

  254. Thanks for the consideration anybody. Happiness seems hard, but events like this make me realize I’m not alone. Enjoy your new book, my secret struggling friend. <3

    http://a.co/8NYDPyd

  255. Joanna (730), pneumonia is awful! I feel so bad for your daughter! I hope that she gets all better soon, and that the IEP
meeting goes better than expected! Keep up the fight!

Thank you so much for the books!

  256. onecrazykid (#731) both books are pre-ordered for you. From one Canadian (living in California) to another, ENJOY! First time ordering from Amazon Canada so hope I did it right.

  257. Jenny you are the best!! (already posted) Thank you thank you thank you! PS. I bought “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened for my friend and she posted it on facebook so many people I know love your books! I can’t wait!

  258. @Iain, thank you so much. I see you have gotten books for a few people and that makes you a little bit amazing in my eyes. I remember being so moved by this even last year and I feel the same way again. It is so heartening to see how much good there still is in the world.

  259. I am having a super rough time at the moment, and would love your new book! http://a.co/50qSvcF

Thank you so much Jenny for who you are and what you do, it means more than you’ll ever know.

  260. Michelle your blanket forts are on the way! This cheered me immeasurably…med changes are kicking my ass. You are a rock star #jennylawson, I love you Jenny Lawson!!!

  261. Linda:
•Unmentionable: The Victorian Lady’s Guide to Sex, Marriage, and Manners will be shipped to Linda Hyer by Amazon.com. Estimated delivery: Feb. 13, 2017
    Enjoy your book!!!

  262. Jenny, thank you for being so awesome, kind and for coming up with this great idea! Books (and humor)really make the world a better place

  263. This was so fun! I shopped for two people and wish I could do more. After seeing others’ lists, I realized I needed to pare mine down to not seem greedy. (Intent was options not greed, but how would somebody know if I got my book if I had a big list of books?)

  264. Help? I’m trying to purchase a Kindle book for someone but it only gives me options to download it to MY devices??

  265. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ls/?ie=UTF8&lid=27GYZC6WEN9B1

Hi guys… I just recently lost my job, and I am about to be really broke BECAUSR I AM FINALLY GOING BACK TO SCHOOL to get a masters degree in counseling… I would love if y’all could help me out with this book. By the way I highly recommend the precursor to this book, The unlikely pilgrimage of Harold Fry “

  266. CrissyMoss, #752: Please make sure your address is added so the book will go to you!

  267. Canadian introvert here watching the lists being fulfilled and smiling with tears in my eyes. I love this group. Thank you for bringing us together Jenny Lawson and for putting a voice to something so loud that sometimes we can’t hear anything but. I have checked a few books off of some random lists and feel so amazing. A million thank yous!! https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/wishlist/3OD1SQ

  268. Thank you Jenny for always being an inspiration. So happy to participate in something wonderful like this. Happy Booksgiving friend; you are not alone, and a book is on its way to remind you of that. 🙂

  269. Mammatrek–check your email 😉 Britt-Marie… And My Grandmother Told me…should be awaiting download! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did! (You may want to remove them from your wish list as it seems like they’re still there.) PS-best to read My Grandmother Told Me… first. Happy Booksgiving!!

  270. Christine #694 – it’s on its way. I’ve been wanting to read this too and you just reminded me to get a copy for myself!

  271. You guys are amazing. I really don’t know what I would do without this blog sometimes. When things look really bleak and I just can’t think or idk what to do I come right to this site to feel better. Kenny humor makes me laugh sometimes when I think I can’t. Because come on we all have a Brad Dingelman somewhere in our life’s. You’ve made my life better and you have helped me be a better mother to my son. Thanks. Love u guys😘

  272. Hi friends,

I’ve sent a few books because I can. I’m going to post a list too… so if you don’t want to send books to someone who doesn’t need them, please don’t pick me. Emotionally, I’m in a bad place as I’m away from my family for a hospital chronic pain program. It would be so lovely to get books just so I know someone else is rooting me on. I’ve posted a book that a friend suggested would be helpful for being in pain as well as two by Sarah Anderson and of course, Jenny’s new book.

Thanks, my wonderful, weird and supportive second family!

  273. Filled with joy because of all the generosity and all the new books that people will be reading!

  274. Wow. So many generous people! Was able to find a few with one book that hadn’t been filled yet. Thanks so much for putting this together and all the kind hearts who bought books.

  275. I would love a copy of Furiously Happy! Every time I’ve bought it for myself, I end up giving the copy away to a friend! Three copies so far, and I still don’t have one!

  276. Booksgiving is my favorite holiday! Thanks for making this happen, Jenny! I’m sending some books to some people and it’s making me happy.

  277. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1NWFW0SZUUHD8/ref=cm_wl_list_o_8?
Jenny, Booksgiving is an amazing idea! I am like lots of us. The past year has really ramped up my anxiety and triggered my PTSD. I have an immune system disease and struggle to find writing and editing jobs I can do from home. And we had a flood that is costing a boatload (see how I tied that into the flood?) of money, even with the insurance. I sent some books to some lovely people and decided I really could use a bright spot in my mailbox. I would love to have Mary Karr’s Art of Memoir. Thank you for giving us all a place to share.

  278. This is the coolest idea! It comes at a time when I’m stuck in winter’s hebetude and could use a few rays of sunshine (mind-shine.) I especially like the random jukebox quality of not knowing which book someone might choose for you from your lust-list. Unfortunately, a new foster puppy ate my computer charger so I couldn’t add my address. 😕 But I included it in the comments with several titles. 📖 Now off I go to buy books for strangers! Yay!

  279. Jenny, thank you for this. You are a fucking hawsum ray of light in such a dark time. My mind is too muddy right now to make a choice but I just wanted to thank you for once again making a difference in so many people’s lives. I wish I could buy you a drink.

  280. Anon #789, I would LOVE to send you a book about about badass women, but something seems to be wrong with the link! 😯

  281. Happy Booksgiving!

My son is just learning to read and is gobbling up books faster than I can find them for him, I would love a book for him!

And I can always use something to read, escape after a long day is always needed.

    http://a.co/aaYMhwS

  282. This is soooo AH-MAZ-ING. I have been checking back throughout the day and to see over 800 comments of people sharing a piece of themselves and all those that are giving is just beyond words. LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!!

  283. This is the best holiday ever!
I know books about escape are the best ones but I’ve put two on my list that are super important for my sister and I right now. http://a.co/aklUo1k

I’m off to find a book to send to someone else….

  284. Books heading out to kids in NY, TX, OR, IN, and MS! A little joy sent out into the world makes the day seem brighter.

  285. Maureen–Thank you so much. <3 It’s been dark days for the last few months with the election and everything. Today was the cherry on the shit sundae with Betsy DeVos being confirmed as the person who is now in charge of my child’s (and pretty much everyone else’s too) education. When I watched the confirmation hearing where she was asked about the IDEA (individuals with disabilities education act) and was completely clueless, my heart sank like that big blue diamond when Old Rose tossed it overboard. Today, I came home from work to find that she’s been voted in for sure and my teacher friends (I work in child nutrition for our school district) are quietly shaking in our sensible shoes.

  286. The consolidated list so far so you don’t have to click on each post. Updated through post 550. If you find empty ones post it, and I’ll update this evening after my kids get out of school! Happy Booksgiving!

  289. Cryswiltshire, thanks for trying to update the list. I’ve put an updated list up now through 750. I think a lot of people are starting at the bottom of the posts, because it is overwhelming! Be sure to check your address everyone so that people can send your books. Also make sure that they are books. When people see other stuff they likely skip your list. Or if you have too many items, you should pare down :), but if you have your whole amazon list up there it’s a little crazy.

  290. I have a wish list up for a book. Things are really rough right now with my health and I might not be able to go back to work on March 3rd. I haven’t worked since right before Christmas due to a traumatic brain injury after falling on ice and hitting my head twice as well as my other health issues. My daughter just had a double mastectomy and is starting 20 weeks (5 months) of chemo this Friday. They still don’t know what is causing my husband to be short of breath, having swallowing/choking issues, and he has lost almost 70 lbs in the last 7 months for no apparent reason. The neurologist is just starting testing next week but we both feel like time is running out for him.

Any of the books list would be a great distraction! I did a lot of coloring when my husband was in the hospital last month and I do it when he is testing and he’s already had a lot of tests with more ahead of him. After saying prayers for others and us, I read at night after calming my husband down from panic attacks that he can’t breathe when he lays down to sleep. Reading helps me to relax myself because it’s very scary that his breathing is even worse at that time of day/night. Thank you in advance if anyone is kind enough to send me a book. I already have a signed copy of Furiously Happy when I met Jenny at a book signing event in November 2015.

  291. I loaned my first edition, hardback copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened to a friend of mine and 13 months later it’s still gone – I don’t think it’s coming back 🙁 I’d pop up a wishlist to get a new copy in this wonderful event, but it will cost about $33USD to get it sent to Australia from the US, since Amazon Australia only has it for digital download. That’s a big ask.

But I am enjoying seeing everyone else’s lists and the fact they’re getting fulfilled so quickly – I think Jenny brings out the best in all of us!

  292. Yes to this! 💕 Two titles for strangers … “Brave New World” for Samantha (may you face it bravely) “Big Mushy Happy Lump” for Anne (may you feel it joyfully) and a third book for a name I recognize, my Nic, who gets Karen Elizabeth Gordon, one of my all time grammar geek favorites — “The Deluxe Transitive Vampire.”

Booksgiving is the best! My new favorite holiday. I really liked poking through random wish lists, peeking into people’s minds. Here’s mine…

  293. I already posted my list, but just wanted to say, this totally made my day! I love being able to add joy to someone else’s day, and really have enjoyed finding others to send surprises to. Makes my heart happy. 😊 I am re-reading Furiously Happy for the 3rd or 4th time currently. I am not an active participant much here or on Twitter, but am always observing, and this group of all us weirdos really has helped me through some shit. Happy to be able to share my blip of content “normalcy” while I have it. You all are amazing!!!!!

  294. Crap!! Just saw Serene23 comment 824’s post. RuthC 98 here… I was adding books to my own book wishlist and inadvertently added them to my Booksgiving list. I only had one book on that list and it looks like it was already bought. THANK YOU!!!

I’ve moved the errant books off. Sorry for the screw up.

Now back to shopping. This is entirely too much fun 🙂

  295. Thank you guys! Alex is gonna have an amazing couple days as he opens up the packages as they come in. I really can’t express how much this means to me. I really feel like you all are angels here on earth. This is a tough week coming up and I’ve been dreading it for a month any time testing and 6 year old boys go together its hardly ever a good thing. Fingers crossed that everything is OK or even just more of the same. I can deal with that. But seriously you guys have distracted me from my worry and given me a general sense of well being and Alex and I made a friend! From my family to yours Bless you all. Thank god for your kindness and generosity. Thank you for being you. And Jenny thank you most of all for this wonderful tribe which I would go crazy without.
    http://a.co/0quQ2dT

  296. I always want to ask for things when you do this but as usual know there are others that need them more especially the way things are going with this nation. Thanks for being you and all the other good people.

  297. Mommatrek–we are on the same dark page. I work at a college, have grandchildren, and am petrified of what is going to happen to their education (and their world). Books won’t fix it, but they will help us escape to better realms, to catch our breath…and the books you picked will be good for that. Hugs.

  298. Thank you for organizing this, Jenny. You’re so nice.
I chose “Rejected Princesses” because I’ve seen some of the comics on social media and I find they’re amazing. I want, need, more!
And… not wanting to sound utterly pathetic, but… the last few months have been hard. Utterly rejected by my family of origin over the holidays, ignored my birthday (but mom made a point of telling me the lengths she went to to wish a cousin happy birthday a few days later)… And I know, at my age, it shouldn’t hurt anymore. But somehow they keep picking open the old wounds.
    Anyway.

  299. I’d really love to read this book, it’s been a long winter so far and I need a pick-me-up. Thank You! Sharon

  300. Whoops. I’m sorry my browser is being weird. I just wanted to say that this is fabulous. You all have a good heart 🙂

  301. This is an ingenious idea, I love it! I will be scanning lists, I hope I can get a few. Anyways, here is mine: http://a.co/aRwC99I (I would love to have The Princess Diarist by the late and great Carrie Fisher)

  302. Thank you so SO VERY MUCH! Being disabled, books are my great transport. I am a crazy biblophile! If anything, I wish I had the hardcover copy of “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” but one day I need to get my hands on Encyclopaedia of Hell, just because I swear my kitten is possessed by something – or my kids are giving him RedBull, one of the two. More likely demons because nothing should be able to move that fast
THANK YOU. If I thought you were a beautiful person before, this just put you into “coffee made from unicorn tears” amazing

  303. My sister is in a rough spot. Finances, relationship, life… I have a feeling a surprise coloring book from a complete stranger would brighten her day. Viva Booksgiving!
    http://a.co/3n09YUb

  304. @jana Thank you so much for sending my little (almost 4 year old!) girl an early birthday present. We are truly so grateful. We don’t buy new books, just library discard and thrift store when we can so she’s going to be thrilled. I can’t tell you how happy she will be! Thank you again. ❤

  305. Anne#782 – I, too, deal with chronic pain and I want to give you a gentle tele-hug. Know that we are with you and support you. I hope the program helps; I know how life-impacting [and distracting and draining] pain can be. Just know I want the best for you and hopefully a reduction or even cessation of pain!

Kimberly#797 – THANK YOU!! I look forward to reading [re-reading in the case of ‘Let’s Pretend..’ – I had that book with me during homelessness and someone borrowed it to read and never gave it back] these, and sharing them with my boyfriend, who is having to learn how to live with someone who deals with bipolar. I appreciate it!

  306. Booksgiving is a brilliant idea! I enjoyed sending books off to fellow readers.

  307. This list is for my little boy. He is just discovering books and seems to like them. I really hope he takes after me and loves to read so I keep encouraging him. I added a bunch of books for options but mostly so I could book mark them for later. Thank you!
    http://a.co/jaIZQtC

  308. I’m a social work grad student and I feel a bit lost this semester. Lots of my own mental health stuff has been messing with my head. Looking for this one as an escape. I saw the first season on netflix and didn’t know it was a book series, so I’m requesting the first one to give me something hopeful and magical to read xoxoxoxox

    http://a.co/8SOw6eD

  309. Figured it out- I think it was Joy (19) was the one I bought a book for – Sharon Draper’s Out of My Mind is in its way….
I hope that you enjoy the book as much as I did!

  310. Miss Emma Adler, your gift will show up next month! And Dianne (the only one in the comments section!), may your Booksgiving gift make your dark days a tiny bit brighter. xoxo

  311. Suz and djlovestories–thank you both!! I can’t wait to reread Harriet, and I’m super excited to have a March Jenny surprise coming!

  312. Books have always been a wonderful escape away from the stress and terrible things that real life seems to always want to send our way. Thank you Jenny for always sharing and being honest and showing us that it’s okay to be broken. I’m learning to live with and embrace my own brokeness. I want to be an example for my daughters. Working on getting stronger everyday.

  313. I am definitely new to the Bloggess party, but I really like it here. ‘Furiously Happy’ came to me at just the right moment. After years of misdiagnosis, I finally got a couple of doctors and medications that are working for me. It’s only been two weeks, so I haven’t even begun my search for work again. I would love this book http://a.co/2iDWYU0 I picked up a book of her poems, ‘Feminist Fables’, not knowing that it was poetry, and now, it’s my new favorite. I gave it away, but would love to read them and more again. Happy Booksgiving, everyone!

  314. CC (#876) I’m a grad student in social work too. I hope that your new book is just the escape you are looking for.

  315. Wow! 883 replies. I guess that means your 30 books are long gone sigh I LOVED your book “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened”! Funniest book I’ve ever read (and listened to), and tell people about at every opportunity. I would love to have one (well both, actually!) of your other books. Really need some humour in my life right now, as I’m going through a difficult time with one of my sons and his wife. Here is my short wish list, consisting of your two newer books. <3

  316. My name is Crystal. I’m the mother to 4 wonderful and smart kids. There is Ethan who is 14, Tanner who is 9, Tyson who is 4, and Evelynn who just turned 1. They don’t have many books of their own but I would love to change that with some help from you all. We live in rural Kentucky and their Dad works alot which leaves me home to handle the house and keep the kiddos busy. They all absolutely love to read and are always bringing home books from school. If anyone out there wants to buy them anything it is greatly appreciated and God bless everyone.

    http://a.co/i5MYeYc

  317. Cassie, #890, I tried to buy the book, but a shipping address didn’t pop up. Please add one!

  318. QUESTION: Is this event strictly one-day-only, (like, until midnight on February 7th), or is it more of a general, late-today-to-early-tomorrow type thing? 🙂

  319. Anne, #865 – please tell your sister that although things aren’t going well for her now, she’s lucky in one regard – she’s got YOU as a sister. Her book is on order – hope it brightens her day!

  320. @verminter 821: YOU are beautiful, and you’re about to create beauty as well! Paint well, sister.

  321. I am going to fall off of mediating/updating the list now. Maybe I’ll update it again tomorrow, if no one else has filled my shoes. My books are here: http://a.co/4ItVI1J
Have a happy Booksgiving everyone! Very beautiful! – Serine

  322. Em, last year it kept going for over a week so I’m inclined to think of it as more of a multi-day festival of book-giving awesomesauce 😀

  323. I just wanted to say thanks to whoever sent me books today. Thank you, Jenny, for doing it again. It was so beautiful to watch it happening. I kept wanting to refresh for new comments constantly!

  324. @ Rebecca #191, Amy #874, Samantha #406, and Erin #358: HAPPY BOOKSGIVING!
All of you should expect a present for your little one(s) by the end of this week.
Please also give them a hug from me :))) What the world needs now is love, and I truly believe that. I’m so happy and thankful to be participating in such a lovely event.

  325. I have been feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders for a very long time now. Books help me get through the darkest days. I have several books on my list, so, if anyone picks me, it will be a super surprise which one I get! Sending so much love and light to everyone in our amazing tribe! Even if I don’t get a book, just knowing I can actually, finally, belong somewhere, makes things a whole lot better!

  326. My daughter and I love to sit and color a picture together. It’s kind of our destressor. Eventually we will cut out a bunch that we have done and put them in a big frame. I’d love to add some of these to the frame. We’ve already done a couple copies of the printable one Jenny shared. It’s a favorite for both of us. she’s almost 5 and I’m pretty much only 5 at heart;)

  327. So I’m in the middle of a rather hideous divorce from someone that just cannot stop trying to manipulate every last thing about every last thing to his own benefit, all while leaving our son and me with very little to fend with. Someone recommended this book to me, but I can’t spare the cash for it right now. Also, there is a book on here that I would love for my son to have. http://a.co/dT4we3S

  328. We could use a little more hope in this house, too! No book I could receive would make me happier than seeing my children get a new book from strangers during these dark times. Here are their top picks: http://a.co/fhwo8mD

  329. Happy Booksgiving Everyone!! Last year I received and it was amazing. What a thoughtful, generous, idea. Kudos as always to Jenny for coming up with the idea!! This year I planned to give, but then life knocked me flat on my a$$ and my own mind became the most dangerous place in the world for me. It was a jagged, scary and lonely holiday season for me this year, where I couldn’t even find solace in one of my favorite things – reading. Fortunately I found the strength to ask and receive help. Now the fog is lifting, my concentration is returning, and my mind is peaceful(thank you Obamacare, drugs & therapy!). And I would love to read / color / journal in any of the books listed on my list. I thank you in advance for your generosity and promise that when I am back on my feet mentally and financially, I will pay it forward. Thanks for reading

  330. Paula DeFrog,
One more gifted book before bedtime. Hope it makes it safely to you, and gives you comfort in these challenging times.

  331. This is probably done for the day, but no harm in trying. I’m a children’s librarian who has moved far from home while struggling with mental illness. Times are rough and the homesickness (my spouse’s and mine) is hitting hard. Humor and/or love would go a long way. <3
    http://a.co/8q5fCiX

  332. This is such a wonderful idea! What a lovely way to create & encourage community among fellow readers. 🙂

    Here’s my wish list:
Beautiful Books that Could Pull Me from this Trump-Induced Pit of Despair
    Link: http://a.co/gNgO1NY

  333. AnnaBanana (#857), happy Booksgiving! <3 You’ll be getting a little something soon.

  334. This helped SO MUCH last year. I had some terrible dog health news to deal with (he’s ok now!) and just knowing someone gave a shit and wanted to give a reason to smile was so wonderful. I get paid Friday so I’ll swing back in and see what commenters still need love, and in the meantime:
    http://a.co/3F3TRR1

  335. Nancy 907 I used to live in the city you now do and I miss it a lot, your book is on its way should arrive sometime in March. It’s one of my very favourite books so I am so happy to share it. This is a joint gift from me and my sister as it was her Christmas gift certificate to me that I used. What better way to spread Love and joy than books. Jenny – this has been an amazing thing to take part in. Thank you.

  336. Jenny, (This sounds way to informal, but Mrs. Lawson sounds way to formal),
Thank you for doing this amazing event and I will be giving a book today as well. Thank you for thinking of you fans and people who simply love to read. This is an incrediable opportunity for a lot of us and please know how much we appreciate it!y wife and I cannot wait until your new book comes out! Thank you for being an amazing voice in a sea of bullshit! Christy

    http://a.co/4Y146Gq

  337. Wonderful. I hope all find some joy within the pages of this book. It’s there.

If anyone is thinking of moving any books away from their own collections to consider donating them to your local library. Of course there’s no harm in bringing them to a used bookstore either. You might be able to trade it in towards some things you’ve been wanting to read.

    @WriterDann

  338. Fiona thank you so much (and to your sister as well). Cheers from Nova Scotia. The kindness and genorosity I see from Jenny and those here is overwhemling and gives me hope. 💖

  339. Happy Booksgiving! Julia from comment #719 and Z3Ida72 from comment #835 I hope you enjoy your books :-).

  340. Melissa- You’ll have two of the books tomorrow- I’m in the UK as well.
    This was your message-
I’d love to receive any of the books on my list. My depression has taken a dip this month and I could use a boost.

    http://amzn.eu/a9Zi2CE

    P.S. I’m in the UK.

  341. Wow. Just wow. I am so overwhelmed by the generosity of this community.

I went to check my own list this morning and it was empty. Everything bought. I am so blown away. Just wow.

Whoever you are who has bought me a book, I can’t begin to thank you. This. Is. Incredible.

Is anyone else looking through other folks lists and thinking “Oh yeah, I totally need to re-read that book!” when you see an old favourite, and then thinking “I so wish I could hang out with these people?”

Thank you again. It sincerely means more to me than you can imagine.

  342. Hi. Check out this list: https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2TIA69W8RIKHJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_an_wl_o_fOWMybKS0XF0H says:

I’m always a day late and a dollar short. Posting this just because I can and wanted to say…
    “What a wonderful, crazy idea!”

  343. Well I’m a bit late to the party but I’m posting anyway because my husband is on his second week long business trip this month, my mom just moved in with us, and I stayed up too late watching dumb tv last night and now the kids are waking me up. I could use a happy surprise. So if you are the shopping sort and also are late, here is my list. And thank you. New List
    Link: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/1WCQR4YVF9CWG

  344. Oh my gosh this is a great Idea!! I love your books and I have shared the love with my co-workers (we all have a quirky sense of humor). We are patiently waiting for your newest book!

I tend to read a lot of fiction and fun memoirs, so I’m looking to switch it up and read a book where I might learn something interesting and different about the everyday world (and forget some of the crazy happening). I heard about this book “The hidden life of trees” on NPR and it seems like I might look at trees differently afterwards

    Thanks!

  345. My sister just gave me a couple books from her bookshelf so I do not need any books. and my 3 year old is happy reading the same books over and over. But my 7 year old has just discovered calvin and hobbes (which has now replaced shel silverstein’s as his favorite books) We only have one old beat up copy of mine and he would love another one to read

    http://a.co/djlgFEL

    melissa

  346. http://a.co/8KqeLZy Honestly there’s so many books I’d love to add, as reading is my best escape right now. (Doing trauma work in therapy is hard.) Fantasy has been my go-to, but when I read Furiously Happy from the library there was a lot of helpful stuff. And I can’t possibly pick just one fantasy book.

  347. I am always hella late to these parties, and really I’d love any book because…book NERD! But here’s my list : http://a.co/5O0qwmg

Life is so crazy right now, i really do need to learn how to embrace the messy!

PS – Jenny you are one of the most awesome people ever.

  348. Jana (#582), Lauren (#658), Crys (#677), Anonymous (#693), and Peggy (#695)– WOW. I’m overwhelmed. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I’m so excited for my students!!!!!

  349. A message to those that have yet to have a book purchased: I’ve hit my purchase budget and so cannot buy anymore books for folks, but I’m planning to come back to this post at the end of the month (post payday, hurrah!). So if you feel happy to do so, leave your lists public so I can still buy for you then – just make sure you have an address attached to your list!

  350. The generosity of the people in this community is unbelievable. It’s so nice to see people coming together and just helping each other out. Books might seem like a small thing, and more of a “want” than a “need”, but we all need an escape sometimes, or even just a reminder that there are people that care about other people – regardless of/despite anything else happening in the world.

Thank you to everyone who is participating in any way, either by buying books, or posting lists.

At this point, I just have a few books on my list for my older children, since they keep complaining time that they never have anything new to read.

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/34NW7MSIYP5LT

  351. Thank you, Jenny, for putting this together. I wasn’t able to pay it foward last year. It’s fortuitous that I’m recovering from hip surgery this year so buying books for others keeps the blues away. My bag o’ books to keep me company while I recover is pretty grim subject matter. This will perk up my reading choices: http://a.co/fL11d3z

    Thank you!
    Sara

  352. Dear Ratika from comment 933,
I just ordered a book for you! I had almost the same list last year and am glad I’m now able to return the favour. (I hope I got everything right on Amazon India…)
All the best from a fellow writer!

  353. So many amazing people doing this. February is a tough month in the UK, nestled between a cold, damp January (assuaged somewhat by my birthday) and the promise of a spring that probably won’t hit us until April. I survive with tea and copious reading and I really know this would go a long way towards that: http://amzn.eu/dawx4jX

Thank you all, for being amazing and kind and giving.

    Ale

  354. Dear Anonymous (#980) I cannot tell you how happy you’ve made me! My parents struggle financially so I rarely get to buy books. This means a lot to me! I promise I will return this favor when I can! Thank you so so so much! I wish I could know who you are – you are very kind!:)

  355. Becomingcliche (#211) I tried to buy you a book, but no address came up. Please fix this so someone can gift you!!!!

  356. 892 Bridgett Thank you soo much. I am looking foward to having a bit of an escape from textbooks upon textbooks 🙂 <3

  357. I would love Furiously Happy! I read it twice from the library but think I just need to keep it on my bedside at all times. On my wishlist is a book on experimental travel. I fight my ongoing battle with depression by wandering around nature when I can. I have heard this book is good for people with “lost souls” and lord knows I feel like one more often than not. http://a.co/bZOvPVY

  358. My little girl loves to read, cannot get enough of the library books we check out each week. Our baby boy already loves listening to stories so I am hoping he’ll be a reader like the rest of the family. I feel sad and ashamed at times that I can’t afford to buy everything my family needs and wants, especially books, but I am grateful that public libraries exist. Also very grateful that there are so many generous people like you all that know how far away a book can take you at times when you need a little escape. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

    http://a.co/fUnPU9t

  359. I seriously adore you and your heart….I am going to sift through this list of comments and find someone to send a book to…..selfishly I hope to find someone who really needs one of your books and/or someone who has A Man Called Ove on their wishlist …. I am in love with that book and all of Frederick Backman’s books (although Grandma took me a bit to get into the second half is marvelous)….I love that you are doing Booksgiving. See, another reason to totally have a crush on Jenny Lawson 🙂

  360. John (#996), such wonderful choices! A couple books are headed your way, I hope you’ll all enjoy them 🙂

  361. I have just been granted guardianship of my nephew’s because their home life with their parents was unsafe and unstable. I am now struggling with getting them into a stable routine while dealing with behaviors that were totally acceptable where they were living before simply because no one was watching them.
I love them dearly and am so greatful that I am able to be there for them, but I could really use an escape into abother world every once in awhile 🙂

    http://a.co/7yZjOTq

  362. Good morning Booksgiving! Whoa, that’s a lot of comments overnight, and so many filled wish lists! I’ll go back through the list and do another consolidated list this morning. Any lists that are missing addresses I’ll take off until they are fixed.
Started the morning off right: Sandra/Wynterose an eBook has been sent to you now!

Also, thank you so much for my fulfilled book wish overnight dear stranger!

  363. Can I tell you all how much I love this place? I’m clicking on so many filled wish lists and sitting at my desk crying happy tears. That hasn’t happened since the last James Garfield Miracle.

  364. Dear @AbbyIsTalking (#974) …. Furiously Happy will be on it’s way to you shortly and has an expected arrival date of February 14 … Happy Valentines Day!!!!! I hope you love this book as much as I did … and still do 🙂 Patrick

Jenny Lawson, you Blogess Goddess….this is such a terrific idea. I LOVE IT!

  365. Booksgiving is so amazing <3 I remember how great the last one was to give some to others and receive a few as well. My husband lost his job almost 4 weeks ago and I had to delete the few books out of my cart due to lack of funds. I also had to put a halt to therapy due to his job loss and it has been really hard on me considering how much it was helping. Book therapy’s got to be the next best thing, right?

Jenny, you are an amazing human being for this <3

    http://a.co/8qWHIzQ

(I submitted another comment before this but then it made me log into an account and took me to a couple other webpages so I don’t think it went through…? )

  366. Funny, my son has brain cancer, and I have lupus and SLE, and I thought about making a list. I am a writer, I love to write, it lifts me. But I had some credit left from my birthday, and so I bought someone a book and I feel great. When you step outside your own issues and anger, you can really help yourself, and other people. Thanks, Jenny.

  367. I just want to say going back and reading comments has made my morning a little brighter. Im not in the best of places mentally right now and this has helped. thank you.

    melissa (#964)

  368. Hi Jenny!

My best friend introduced me to your blog a while back. She’s a long time fan & when she sent me this link, I immediately scrolled thru and bought Furiously Happy for someone who asked for it.

If my best friend asked for a book, I’d buy it for her, but she always has a heart for others.

Thanks for the laughs & insight, that we have both enjoyed. I don’t know if she has any of your books, tho…hm…

  369. If you see this, thank you so much, Kimberly S., for the eBook addition to my Kindle yesterday. I now have a new book to start today 🙂

  370. I have an idea.
I hope that this comment is not too far down the list for anyone ever to read it.
The thing is, as I read comments I see some people saying things about the book they requested that make me want to read that book. (Like, books for people who have lost their soul mate or for people who feel lost and alone and isolated or anxious and depressed……all of which is me!). Only problem is that I don’t get to know what book it is, because the wish list I go to is already used up and the book title doesn’t show.
SO……CAN WE HAVE A PLACE WHERE WE CAN ALL RECOMMEND BOOKS TO EACH OTHER? I can certainly add to the recommendations, myself.
    Hope that someone reads this.

  371. I think booksgiving is my favorite holiday! I’m horribly sick at the moment and this made my day! I made a list…it’s a bit of a mess but my brain is scrambled and I can’t think. It’s for my 12 and 8 year old girls and my 3 year old son. It’s a random bit of stuff they like and it’s too long but I don’t have the energy or brain power left to downsize at the moment lol. Idk if we made it in time but either way it still makes me happy 🙂 I always loved getting new books and it looks like a lot of people will be!

Oh and one book is actually requested…my oldest would love to read Return to Isle of the Lost (I believe that was the name…can’t think lol) if anyone would like to get it she would be thrilled.

  372. I totally added Furiously Happy for me 🙂 Shameless on all these cold meds haha. Thanks to our very fantabulous Ami I’m the proud owner of your first and soon to be 3rd books! But I still wanna know what the cutest raccoon ever is so happy about 🙂

  373. Ms. B (559), I hope used books are ok, since that way I can send 3 instead of 1. I love that you’re doing this for your kids, and I know that as a teacher you feel like you can’t do enough. This is for all the teachers who’ve made a difference in my life, and so your kids will know that people they’ll never meet care about them.

  374. Jenny, Booksgiving is the greatest holiday ever. I’d forgotten all about it, and it was just the thing I needed right now. Connecting with other strangelings and being able to give them something they need is such a powerful antidepressant.

I don’t need it, and I’m able to get it myself, but if someone else feels the need to give, I’d love this one

  375. I love Booksgiving and I love all of you! Last year was wonderful, both giving and getting, and I am grateful everyday that generous people and books exist. I said the same thing last year, I would love a book from my list and I am a graduate student and an Americorp VISTA (read government volunteer) but I am in no way the person who needs one most so please pass me by if someone else catches your eye.

  376. If anyone wants to read well written, thoughtful, thoroughly engaging murder mysteries, I highly recommend the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. The first one is entitled Still Life. They are set in the small town of Three Pines in Quebec, Canada near the US border.

  377. Thank you so much lain and Emily…My lil one is gonna be so excited. He is in this phase (I hope it’s a phase lol) he puts his hand arm leg whatever against something (the wall a toy anything really) and yells I’m stuck I’m stuck when you can plainly see he is alright and definitely not stuck. Mostly it’s to get attention from mommy and daddy…it’s cute but gets annoying when he does it 50 times a day lol. Anyways one of the books you guys got him was “my truck is stuck” I showed him the cover of it and told him what the title was and he ran to get one of his toy trucks to get it stuck somewhere lol I have a feeling that is going to be one of his favorites 🙂 Thanks again!

  378. Thank you cogsciguru for letting me know my second attempt at a link didn’t have an address. It has been corrected and I found a cheaper option while doing that so I redid the list. Hopefully third time’s the charm for a link that works. 🙂

    (original post)
Due to family illness and probable job loss, I’m trying to preplan a garden this spring to help with grocery costs this year. Reading and studying makes me feel like I’m at least being proactive instead of just lost.

  380. @Iain (don’t remember which post) ; thank you so much in advance! I think you send me a book last year as well?
You have no idea how uplifting this is. thank you!

  381. I totally thought that since my choice was still in my wishlist that it hadn’t been chosen and I was okay with that because the giving was soooo much fun and what the whole thing is about! I went to delete that wishlist and a box came up that said “Someone may have bought this for you”. The option was there to see if it was and I clicked on it and it said “Yes, someone has bought this for you”!
I want to say so so so many THANKS to the angel that chose it! I’ve been eyeing it for a long time and just putting it off. So, again, SO SO SO MUCH THANKS to the angel! (All typed through tears!)

  382. What an inspired way to bring share some happiness! Serine23 #906 a book is headed your way! I hope it brings you some joy! And I lost the original comment for Melinda Lamb, but a book is headed your way as well! Happy reading!

  383. Jamie D (#862) Would love to send you a book (from one Jamie to another) but your address is not entered! Please update!!

  384. Turns out I didn’t blow my budget yesterday so I’ll do a few more today 🙂
First up is CheshireK (916,918), You Are Here will be on its way in March!

  385. Elizabeth (922), both books are on the way to you and your children. Happy Booksgiving 🙂

  386. Pretty sure you’ve all beat me to it! xD But it’s okay.

Thank you everyone who bought me my ebooks. I’m super excited to read them all. They’ve been on my tbr list for ages. I’m tempted to drop everything else and read them all. You guys have made my gloominess go away. <3

  387. Maria / #223 : Happy Booksgiving to you and your daughter. Chester’s Back should arrive by Feb 10.

  388. Just sent a few more. I forgot to write down the names/posts so I guess it will be a surprise for the recipients! This is the best feeling I have had all month. Thank you, Jenny.

  389. @becomingcliche #220, if you were referring to Meg S. #207 that was me, shouldn’t have tried to do it while multitasking on my phone. 🙂 Think I fixed it. And thanks!

  390. I love Booksgiving so much! I sent books to Texas, New Jersey and two people in Ohio. Then today I decided to send books to my own kids – so I went on their wish lists and sent each of them a book. They 14 & 16 and I know they are going to tell me I’m weird – I shipped each book separately so they get a box addressed to their name. I’m going to check the wishlist of everyone I can think of and send books, books and more books. Ship ALL the books!

  391. I spoke to my sister this morning and she was sobbing. She is in such a bad place and I am so far away. I sent her a little box of handmade trinkets last week and I wish I could more, but I can’t. I have $300 in the bank for the next (almost) 2 weeks and haven’t paid my car insurance yet. I was gifted my dream book by a generous soul and am eagerly anticipating it’s arrival. It’s so strange to look forward to something. I am reposting my wishlist, I added two books for my sister, they are marked “for my sister” and should be at the top of the list. I know this request is late to the party, and I would feel awful asking for something additional for myself, but for my sister I will try anything. If anyone is still gifting, please consider these for my sister, I just want to make her smile. And now I’m crying too. Damnit.

  392. Mindy Comment 952 – would love to pre-order You Are Here for you (from one Mindy to another!) but your shipping address doesn’t come up. Try again please!

  393. Cassandra (1074), I’ve been there more times than I care to admit to…I hope your sister enjoys Medair : The Complete Medair Duology in One Volume because it’s in her Kindle as I write this. Happy Booksgiving!

  394. Momof3 (#681), Crissi C (#897), Amy (#874) and Samantha (#406)…books are headed your way for your little ones! Enjoy and God Bless!

  395. My name is Crystal. I have 4 kids. Ethan, Tanner, Tyson, and Evelynn. I’m almost positive earlier I posted the wrong link so here is the right link. Sorry and thank you so much.

I don’t particularly need a book right now. But my son can always use one and it creates a little escapeays been so important to my mental well being even as a child. 🙂 Can’t wait to send out a few.
    Happy Booksgiving Everyone!

  400. I love this idea! Books are so good to escape life for a while. You’re the best. Can’t wait for you new book!

  401. Crissi c (original post #897, follow-up post #1080), your link was fine. Charlotte’s Web is headed your way! Such a classic and one of my absolute favorites! Enjoy and God Bless you and your family.

I’m a single mom of a 14yr old son and we are Doctor Who, Firefly and TWD fanatics. I love to read and am trying to get him to expand his horizons from just comic books. We would be super appreciative of anyone that could send him a book. It’s not that I can’t afford to buy him a book, it’s just the thought that someone out there, because of this blog and Jenny Lawson, cared enough to send him a world of adventure tucked in between two hard covers.
    Thanks. This tribe rocks!

  402. Jen 1077 & 1084. I bought your granddaughters book! Happy Booksgiving!
Um… I better cut myself off (today). Terrible to buy myself a book? 🙂

  403. I thought I posted a revised list but it didnt post. I decided to focus on books for my nieces/nephew instead of myself….I love this event and I want to share with them the experience of getting a book from a total stranger. Their names are Tabitha and Fiona they are 6 and 8. (in case someone wants to leave them a special note. I have gifted 3 books and there is an option to leave a personal message) Bless you Jenny Lawson!

  404. Anonymous #998 – Three Dark Crowns is on the way and will be delivered Friday.
Jana #999 – Your book is on the way and should arrive Friday.

  405. I should have said this before. I already own Let’s Pretend and Furiously Happy and pre-ordered You Are Here months ago (when I still had money). I LOVE your books and can’t wait for more. This is a wonderful idea and I really wish I could participate more as a giver. Maybe next year.

Thanks Jenny for making all of our lives more fun!.

  406. Kailyn (#559) I hope you don’t mind but I am sending mostly good condition used books to your students so I could afford to do more. They did not come off your list so I wanted to tell you what you are getting so you can update it yourself. I feel uncomfortable doing this publicly but . . . Furiously Happy, The Girl in the Tangerine Scarf,The Audacity of Hope, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, The Rainbow Comes and Goes, Hard Choices, Dreams from My Father, Geek Love, So You Have Been Publicly Shamed, Minaret, and TTYL. I tried to get a variety for your students. Again, sorry for the public announcement, I couldn’t figure out how to contact you from your link.

  407. Ack! Kailynn (#559) I spelled your name wrong. Sorry!!! See comment #1099.

  408. I thought I posted a revised list but it didnt post my link. Lets try this one more time.lol.

  410. LOLOLOL….and there is the one I thought didnt post…Im so sorry. I can not computer today. UGH!!

  411. Sometimes it is easy to fear that this world is headed for utter darkness BUT then there you ALL are shining like crazy celestial diamonds showing me otherwise with your blinding lights that work healing magic. You, we, might feel powerless but together anything is possible. Thank you Jenny, everyone (the readers, the givers and the receivers), again, for inviting me to participate in a “together moment” just when I needed it. <3 Yesterday, I was a scatterbrain as I tried my best to face another one of those days that left me filled full of anxiety and sorrow — a nice karate chop to the heart. WooPa!

But as I sit here now, with more gratitude than normal in my heart, reading all of these wonderful comments, I am crying tender healing tears. As opposed to the ones that were trying to drown me 24 hour-ish ago. Not only did I get hugs from people who do not know me (in the form of an inspirational coloring book and a book my 14 & 12 year old boys have wanted for a long time, on Harriet Tubman, by Nathan Hale. —> What a great birthday present for my 14 year old, btw!) but you all are hugging each other as well. And that makes me so happy. The kind of happy that fills in my cracks with gold paint.

I might sound like a cheesy winey drunk baby (and I don’t drink) but I really want to verbally send out giant hugs and thank-yous to everyone here (and to those who purchased the books for us). So. Thank YOU for being the change this world needs, one kind seed/deed at a time. I am grateful for you. XxXxXx

  412. Mary (comment) 775, “The Thinking Woman’s Guide to Real Magic” is on it’s way. It is a brand new copy from a 3rd party seller. This is my last gifting book this year since I went well over my budget, and I still want to pre-order Jenny’s book! Thank you Jenny for hosting this again this year, it was so much fun and a real gift to give and receive!

  413. Curiouser & Curiouser (1099): I know you’re not looking for public recognition but I want you to know you’re amazing and I <3 you

  414. Crystal/Crissi @ 897 – books are winging their way across the internet. My parents were broke when we were younger and my mom did absolutely everything she could to keep us reading. Anything I can do to help you keep your kids reading is something I’m proud to do. Besides, EVERYONE should read “Coraline” and “The Last Unicorn.” Love from D.C.!

  415. 1072: heads up! Surprises are incoming. May you have many happy hours of reading together.

  416. 2girls2stories1blog #265: Your little one has a surprise in store on Valentine’s Day! <3

  417. Hi Dawni #947, I live in Australia too so I’d love to buy your book for you. If you make a wishlist in Amazon like Jenny said the shipping won’t be too ridiculous as we both live in the same country. I tried to use your Book Depository link but couldn’t as your shipping address didn’t come up.

  418. Just wanted to say I posted a list yesterday, and while I was buying a book for someone else, POOF, somebody out there bought me a book. Now I’m off to buy another one for some other stranger. It feels so good to be able to give! If anyone is still inclined, I’ve updated my list with one more title I would dearly love to add to my collection:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1WHHPW8TZOL68/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2

    Off to grant another wish…

  419. Anonymous #1103 and #1104: Tabitha and Fiona each have a special surprise arriving on Friday! <3

  420. Anon #1112 Furiously Blushing here!!!! Books were my sanity when I was a lonely Navy Brat in yet another new school. I had wonderful teachers that guided me to all kinds of great books and that made the moves easier. I just wanted to give back. Thanks for the comment. I <3 you back, you fellow Jenny fan you!

  421. TwinMama15….YOU ROCK!! I can not wait to share this experience with them. So when I give them their books we are going to come back here and “pay it forward”. Thank you…from the bottom of my heart!

  422. I posted before but I should add that the books on my list are all gifts except the cookbook. I like to bake and make candy for friends and family. Off to gift a couple more books to strangers!

    http://a.co/9xhnsYI

  423. Marianne – #685 – I hope you are up and around soon! you have a digital book headed your way. 🙂 Enjoy and Happy Booksgiving!

  424. Thanks for this opportunity to pay it forward and grant some wishes today, Jenny! You and this community are amazing. I sent a few books out, enjoy! Happy booksgiving!

  425. It’s been a rough few months. My divorce was just finalized, and I’ve moved into my own apartment with my bipolar daughter and granddaughter, and am supporting them both on Social Security Disability. To say that my depression and anxiety has been at its worst is an understatement. I can’t afford to buy books for anyone 😢, but if someone would like to buy a book for me, I’ve put 2 on my list for you to pick from. (Doesn’t have to be new; used books are fine.) Hopefully next year I’ll be able to buy someone else a book!

Thanks for this, Jenny – you’re awesome!

  426. Dawn #1142/1142 – your address did not come up, please add your address to your wishlist so we can send something out to you. 🙂

  427. Hi! I need help this year. My therapist recommended this book might be a tool to get me through some tough stuff. Could you also please send some invisible, imaginary hugs and dreams and hope and rainbows? I’m fresh out. http://a.co/fmleOGd

  428. Thanks Dawn! (1141/1142) Your book is on the way! Hope you enjoy and best of luck to you!! Happy Booksgiving and remember, there is a whole community here when you need it. 🙂

  429. cryswiltshire my book arrived already!!!
I was super shocked to see it in my mailbox this afternoon.
    I am so happy <3<3
I will cherish this book for years to come

  430. Emily daines
Thank you so much! This absolutely brightened my day and I had to blink back happy tears at work.
    From st (#873)

  431. O my goodness, strangers! Someone already bought me a book. I’m teary eyed. It’s been a rough day and I feel startled to feel… worth the cost of a book, to a stranger, honestly. Thank you. Whoever you are, know I needed you tonight.

  432. Ale (984), krosecodes (1017), Geena (1029), Cassandra (1074), Lesley (1085) :you all have books on the way soon (arriving tomorrow in Geena’s case!).

  433. Hi jam1es #1026 🙂 You picked some of my favorites and they are on the way to you!!! Happy Booksgiving!

  434. Thanks for the opportunity to grant wishes. This is my second year being able to give and I was also able to give to more people! It’s awesome!

  435. Anelecia at 1144 – your list was empty, so hurray for you. Sending invisible, imaginary hugs instead. If I sent too many, feel free to pass on the extras to someone else.

  436. Christi (#1068): Trevor Noah is on his way 🙂 I loved this book, I wish I could give everyone a copy. I hope you’ll like it!

  437. Jenna (#1163) Your book will arrive once it releases. Your daughter’s books should be there on the 15th.

  438. jstnthrgal (#1164) You are not to late. Your book will be there after it releases. Enjoy

  439. My gratitude overflows tonight! We are so incredibly fortunate to have each other, tribe! I can’t believe I actually got picked to receive a book or two from you amazing friends! I am so incredibly grateful for your kindness! I sent a few off anonymously and I can’t wait for those folks to get a happy surprise in the mail soon. With all the horrible stuff in this world, you guys and gals are a definite rainbow in my cloud! Sending virtual hugs to each and every one of you!

  440. Thank you to onecrazykid and Audrey and any other anons who may have gifted me. I’ve been sick as a dog for days, and you have just lifted me up out of my funk. Thank you all so, so much.

    Emily #911

  441. I would LOVE to replace my copy of “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.” I loaned it to a friend in need, some time back, and have meant to replace it, but haven’t been able to, yet.

  442. Curiouser & Curiouser (1099)– I am crying right now. I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude– thank you thank you thank you!!! That was so generous of you– I truly am stunned. Thank you.

I’m really stunned by all the generosity pouring out of Booksgiving this year. Seriously– you all are the best.

I’d love to connect with all of you who have kindly contributed to my class library. My blog is http://www.GingerSass.com, or I can be found on Twitter or Instagram as @TheGingerSass.

    Just… thank you. <3

    Kailynn

  443. My daughter just moved in with me because of a bad bought of depression. She also is separated from her 1yr old daughter. I wanted to add her to my list. I put coloring books on the list because all 3 of us like to have “coloring contests”. It is family time and would help keep her head up. I know money is tight with most of us. I am not able to get a book for anyone this year and it makes me sad.
I know this is a late last minute thing. So I do understand if no one gets us anything.
Just reading the posts has been a blessing for me. I needed to know that there are still good people in the world. Now more than ever. January 20th sent me into a funk and I am trying to get out of it. This is good therapy for me. Thank you all for doing this.

Blessings of love and peace to you all. Naomi #668

  444. Thank you, thank you to whoever sent me A Wrinkle in Time, On The Banks of Plum Creek, and The Borrowers! I was hoping for one childhood favorite to help lift my politically poisoned spirits, but you amazing people sent me three!! My heart is completely overflowing. I love you people! Thank you, Jenny, for doing this!! So much fun to give and so heartwarming to receive an unexpected surprise in my mailbox!

  445. I just send Superfudge to someone’s little one – I forgot to write their name down. One of my faves as a kid!

This list is my sister in law’s. They are having a rough time right now. One book, Infinite Jest, was recommended to her a few years ago but she’s never gotten around to getting it for herself, and the other was a favourite from high school. I’d love to surprise her with these.

    http://a.co/7RLZFon

  446. Christina Tibbets (1109)…crying at work over your post! This is how the world should be EVERY day, strangers loving on each other.
Imagine my surprise when I continued reading the newest posts and saw my name mentioned by Anonymous 1155!! I truly did not expect anything as I am not in need (no major illness, my brain isn’t trying to kill me, blessed with a healthy child, roof over my head and food in the fridge) and there are so many posts by those who really need to be uplifted more than me. But I guess that’s what compounds the joy of the unexpected gift (tears again, what a big baby). Thank you Anonymous 1155, truly and sincerely.
From the top, bottom and all sides of my heart, thank you all (givers and receivers) for being part of this still beautiful world!

  447. Naomi 668 and 1178, please post your book list link. I would love to send you a book!

  448. @jam1es (#1184) Thank you so much. I thought I had put it on. Had to take care of my daughter. 🙂 Here is my link. I have all of us on the one list.
    Just books
    Link: http://a.co/cC2Uh3e

  449. I wasn’t going to do this. But now I’ve not bought the book I really want three times, because I just couldn’t justify spending the money on myself. Ahhhh single parent life.

Next week (Thursday) my dad is having open heart surgery three states away from me. I basically sold my soul (kidding. Mostly) for plane tickets and a rental car (OMG rental cars in New Orleans are ridiculous) that I can’t afford and I took off days that I can’t afford to lose, so I can be there for it. I’m the only kid showing up. Anyway. I’d really love to have this book to read. Thank you.

  450. Booksgiving is the best thing. It’s been a long damn year and it’s only February. I’m dealing with an anxiety/depression flare, and on Monday I found two dead mice (and a third live one) on traps I hadn’t checked in a few days. I need to get the fuck out of my head right now. For anyone considering, thank you.

    http://a.co/dTfYGYl

  451. I could really do with something to pull me out of my slump and transport me to a different world. Terry Pratchett does that for me like no other. I would really appreciate some humor sent my way.

    http://a.co/i4gu7C2

    Thank you!

  452. notjustred your book is pre-ordered! Enjoy!

P.S. Love that it took me a handful of tries to find a list that hadn’t been bought already 😀

  453. Does anyone want/need me to make another consolidated list? Or does everyone feel it’s easier to hunt and peck at this point? It’s really time consuming, but I want to help however I can so it keeps rolling…

  454. Naomi (668, 1178, 1184) and Talwinder Kaur (713)…books are on the way! Enjoy!
    Happy Booksgiving!

  455. Ok, random guy- your books are on the way.
    Your message-
    Anonymous | February 9, 2017 at 9:49 am
I love this idea and while I have your books I would love to share them with my cousin. I just don’t have the money right now. If anyone feels like making a random guy happy (ok that just came out weird) here’s my list… just 2 books. 🙂

  456. I am so excited to participate in this again 🙂 Booksgiving is the best holiday, especially coming after a year like the last one.

    Here’s mine: http://a.co/0vvGvSP

I can’t wait to send out some joy of my own!

  457. Kailynn (559) – The Infinite Moment of Us is on its way. XOXO to you and your students

Linda (1202) THANK YOU! :-* XOXO

    Jenny – I heart you.

  458. @jam1es Thank you soooo much. My kids and I will enjoy the time together. Being able to escape from the real world for a bit will be nice. Thank you for the gift of sanity.

  459. I bought some coloring books for others. Doing what I can to support the arts!

  460. Angela ( #961). I would like to send your book to you. But I’m not sure if you have your shipping address added. It wants to try and send it to me. Hope you see this! I’m right there with you on hubby business trips and kiddos!

  461. Gila (#972) and Channon (#1193) – Your books should arrive on Saturday!
ThatLauraChick (#1005) – Check your inbox. You should have instructions to claim your book 🙂

  462. Serine23, I would be willing to help out with an updated list if you let me know how and what would be easiest. 🙂 I want to make it as easy as possible for people to keep things rolling as well.

  463. Ellen (#915): I hope you see this. I, too, love Hyperbole and a Half and their depression comics really helped me out, especially when trying to explain to other people what it is like in my head. I want to buy the book for you but you don’t have an address listed. Please update your list with it!

Here is my list if anyone is still looking: http://a.co/4el76KP

  465. Thank you so much! I received Furiously Happy yesterday and can’t wait to read it. I will pass it along to my best friend when done as she’s the one who introduced me to your blog. Guess there’s a reason we’re friends!

  466. i am super late to booksgiving but here’s my list: http://a.co/0HpwngZ
i put a bunch of books on that list so i’d be surprised, so please don’t think i’m trying to be greedy. 🙂

  467. I don’t know if I’m too late but if not: https://tinyurl.com/jp6sy26

Either way, thanks so much for hosting this, Jenny. It’s been such a hard slog for the past few months, and I would love to be able to share some of these smiles with friends who are also having a tough time as we fight for everyone’s civil liberties.

  468. Many thanks to you and your family @Lindsay from the bottom of my heart. My little girl is going to be so happy to get mail of her own and a new book at that! Perfect Valentine for her. This makes me very happy too, what a nice treat.

  469. I just saw this post. How amazing is everyone?! My husband is following his dream, which is amazing but it has taken him away from home. My boys are struggling with it a bit. I thought if they got something from a stranger it might help to show them that people they don’t even know care too. I’m going to sit down with them tonight and have them picks books to send to someone else who needs it. A good circle of caring lesson.

  470. jam1es (1227) I just came back to see if my comment posted correctly and OMG thank you! You’re amazing!

  471. Thank you, Jennifer (if you see this comment), for gifting me the Mercy Thompson comic eBook. It’s already been enjoyed to read 😀

  472. Haha, just wanted to share my Amazon book recommendations. You Are Here, Furiously Happy and……BELLEVUE.

  473. 683- queens27: Your book is on the way!

And thank you to whomever purchased a book for me! (Becky #260) It helped me to feel the love!

A HUGE thanks to Jenny for this post and getting us all together 😉 I love the spirit of this group! I sent books to two different people because books are awesome!

  474. @mindy2: Thank you so much. I am amazed at people sometimes and this is one of them. I was hoping for at least one book that the kids and I could share. (Ok. So my kids are almost 22 and 16) But we still love to have family time. And this is something we can do anywhere and without electronics. 🙂 Blessings to all. Naomi & kids.

  475. Talwinder Kaur: you are very welcome! I loved The Westing Game, thanks for reminding me of it.

  476. Hi Connie,
My last updated list was at comment 1054, and it went through the 800s of comments I believe. I’ve just deleted filled lists or lists without addresses, and added new ones. Thank you for offering to help with that! I’m not really sure if people are pulling from that list, but I think so. But I also think mostly people are pulling from later in the list.
    Yay! Booksgiving!

  477. Oops, meant Tiffany at 1244. List list is growing so fast, it is hard to keep track of it all.

    Good job, Jenny!

  478. Hey jam1es (post #1086), I too am a Firefly fanatic. 🙂 Madeleine L’Engle was my first sci-fi/fantasy book love. Her books truly & deeply changed my life. I hope your son (& you!) enjoy “A Wrinkle in Time” (but do check out “A Swiftly Tilting Planet” – it’s my favorite). 🙂 All the best, Lindsey

  479. jam1es (1182) – you just made my day with your kind words. because we belong to each other in all of our diverse messy beautifully imperfect perfect ways.

Since early today, I/we (my sons) have been contending with flooding where we live, here in Idaho. Thank you, again, for your kind words. You brighten my muddy scary lake filled day more than I can express. I hope today is extra beautiful for you.

    Now I’m the one crying. <3 🙂

  480. That is so weird. I wrote something and a part of it went missing.

jam1es (1182) – you just made my day with your kind words. I feel the same way, everyday should be a day of strangers loving on each other……..connecting and celebrating and sharing and caring and lifting – no matter how small because we belong to each other in all of our diverse messy beautifully imperfect perfect ways.

Since early today, I/we (my sons) have been contending with flooding where we live, here in Idaho. Thank you, again, for your kind words. You brighten my muddy scary lake filled day more than I can express. I hope today is extra beautiful for you.

  481. Life is always a roller coaster. I’ve added a wishlist and included a copy of Let’s Pretend this Never Happened for my mom. I can’t part with my copy even though I would love to share. I think she could find so much comfort. I know Jenny and this community have made me feel so much better, it’s nice when so many other people get you, even if we are all strangers.

  483. Jam1es – You are most welcome!!!! Thank you for all of your kind words! The books coming your way are swirling with love. Lots of love from a hop, skip and jump away in Maryland 🙂

  484. Not sure if my earlier comment went through, but hey. Why not. (Why did I not track with my name.)

(To be clear on this – there are multiple options here to give you a choice.)

Had one of those world tilting sessions in therapy today where I realized the scale of my father’s emotional/financial abuse of me, my sisters, and my mother, and that what I’ve been told/experienced was minimized by my mom. So. Uh. That’s.. .a thing.

  486. Thank you thank you thank you Alison N! I received my book today. Now it’s time for tea, a comfy blanket, and my new book. I’ll be unavailable for a bit. To escape!

  487. I was trying to pay attention for this but I am SO late to the party!

My step-dad just passed away a couple weeks ago and was hoping to get some books sent to my mom. I already bought her furiously happy but Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and You Are Here would be great (if you’re still giving away books, Jenny)

I’m trying to weasel out some books that she would like and can hopefully get them posted in the wishlist soon!

This is seriously the best thing and I hope I can get some books sent to cheer her up as much as possible right now <3

    http://a.co/csbd6qQ

  488. Hi everyone I’m Crystal. I posted on here before about my 4 kids. I’ve got some great books for them so far but if there is anyone out there that might b able to get sum of the baby books for my littlest I would really be so thankful. She is so attentive and loves pictures and being read to. Good bless all of you and thank you for everything.

  489. I’m having surgery next week–my doctor will be doing a magic trick with my uterus. (“Watch me pull a rabbit out of this hat!”) I’ll be off work for several weeks, so I need stuff to keep me busy since I won’t be doing much except resting. I’ve put a few on there if someone wants to choose which they’d like to send. Whatever suits your fancy. Now off to find a book to send to a random stranger… 🙂
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2D5VQGJP2LJZE/ref=cm_wl_list_o_2?

  490. Betsy 1273, your book should be on its way. (I bought it used, I hope that is okay)

  491. Great job Connie! Please delete me from the list. I have already been gifted, and forgot that Jenny’s new book was on my list, which I pre-ordered just now. Also H on comment 1264, I tried to buy your book, but you don’t have an address listed. Only 3rd party sellers are available though.

  492. WitchCat in comment 1212… tried to buy your book, because I love your pirate picture! But you don’t have an address in your wishlist.

  493. My mom and I got our books today! Thank you so much Lynn, Krissi, Heather, and Ashley! You all made our days so much brighter!

  494. Thank you Wendy & Nickcol for the amazing surprise books I received today. I am humbled and grateful for this amazing community.

  495. My daughter, Jordan, got books today! Thank you so very much for bringing sunshine to her very dreary and depressing week! She had not yet made it home so was unable to tell me who had gifted her (her significant other let her know that she had received mail). Booksgiving is such an incredible and inspiring gift!

  496. Omg I love you guys so much! Alex got all of his froggy books and most of the Bernstein bears books in the mail today. He was so happy. He said “Where’d they come from mom?” And I told him all his new friends sent them from all over the place. He says ” from all over Kentucky city mom?” And I said no baby from all over the world. I think that kinda startled him but then he started showing em off to his daddy saying look daddy my friend bought me Froggy’s first kiss and then again my friend bought me Bernstein bears messy room and so on with every title. I’m so touched ya’ll for real. I’ve cried like a lil baby. I love u guys so much and thank you for giving my Alex such a special day!

  497. To those who still have books on their lists—please make sure you have an address associated with your wish list. I can’t send you a book if Amazon doesn’t know where to ship it. Thank you! 🙂

  498. Dear Booksgiving friend, thank you for the beautiful books for my children. If I could attach a picture of them now… curled up on the couch pouring over the pages. I love Booksgiving!

  499. A Note on Buying Stuff From Non-US Amazon:

I found that if I go to (for example) http://www.amazon.ca and use my usual US log-in credentials, I can buy books for Canadians. (Eh?) (Sorry, Canadians.) (I can’t use the word “Canadians” without throwing in the obligatory “eh.”)

I can pay with the same credit card I always use (far too often) on Amazon, and Amazon.ca automatically converts CDN to USD.

So US residents, if you’re interested, you too may be able to buy books for those living elsewhere. 🙂

  500. Hi Anonymous #989 – your address didn’t come up when I tried to send you a book 🙁

  501. becky (#1220), a book is headed your way, fellow bay stater! shipping may be slow, but keep the faith. Hope you’re staying warm and dry through this storm.

  502. Hi anonymous #1291, thank you for letting me know. I think I fixed it! Thank you so much in advance!

  503. I know I’m late, but I thought I would try any way. I’m scheduled for surgery this week, something that is terrifying and heart breaking for me considering the reason. I would really love a book to take my mind off of what I have to face. Thank you wonderful people of the internet!

    Link: http://a.co/05BcfkC

  504. I received my book from Liz today. Thank you so much, such a wonderful surprise! Happy Booksgiving!

  505. Sarah R. (1296), the Calvin and Hobbes is on its way to you! Happy Booksgiving!

Thank you Iain– and Jenny for setting this up– it’s an amazing holiday.

  506. Thank y’all so much for the books. I know they will love them and there are some books that i can sit and enjoy too. With only my husband working to pay all the bills it’s hard to get things like this for 4 different aged kids. I really am looking forward to seeing their faces when these packages arrive. Tyson gets so excited when any kind of package comes. He jumps and laughs. The oldest 2 are more into games but I’m hoping if they get some books they like I can get them into reading more. Again thank to each and every one of y’all that have bought my youngins some books.

    http://a.co/e3UB9kW

  507. I was fortunate enough to get Furiously Happy for Christmas and since I have started reading it I have not been able to get past page 57-59 where the talk about meds and the judgement of being on them. It is something that I am facing at the moment and I keep rereading and rereading that it’s ok to be on meds and its ok to not be ok and that is something that I need to remember. Jenny has inspired me to not be ok and to be ok with that. She has also helped me branch out in my reading but its hard to go and get books from the library with a job and kids and any help from anyone would be truly amazing and hopefully next booksgiving I will be in a position to help more than to receive. Thank you all you wonderful people for not being ok and being ok with that.

  508. Hello, i’m at the point in depression where i wonder if this is how i’ll feel for the rest of my life. Jenny’s last book inspired me to go to the doctor about changing meds so i’m eagerly awaiting this coloring book to come out, i’m just not sure how i will pay for it as i’m unemployed. I understand if this is too late, i’m blessed regardless by reading all the comments in this thread.https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1ER3PFD56OKRI/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2

  509. Hi Annonymous (1304). You’re not too late. Book is on it’s way for you. Hang in there and feel better soon xoxo from Sydney
PS You almost accidentally got this [Maverick ET-733 Long Range Wireless Dual Probe BBQ Smoker Meat Thermometer] as it was still in my cart. Hope it doesn’t show up too, but if so, happy grilling (and I really hope you’re not a vegetarian…)

  510. Sending people books has made me really happy again this year, so thank you Jenny for making all of this possible. You’re a wonderful human being and I’m very grateful for getting to share in the slice of the world that you and your tribe have carved out.

And since apparently I don’t know when to stop:
Julia (927,1235) and Anon (1269) – you each have a copy of Hyperbole and a Half on the way.
Anon (1304) and Jeff (1305) – you’ll be receiving copies of You Are Here once it springs into existence.

  511. Amy, I was blown away when I opened the mailbox today and found the book I wanted from you. It made me so happy. I felt like a little kid on Christmas. Thank you so very much for your generosity and kind words. I hope this year has been much better for you. <3 Di

  512. @ Samantha #406: I just received a message from Amazon saying they could not deliver the book to your address 🙁
Please check that your shipping info is listed correctly in your Amazon account. Let me know so that I can notify them to try and deliver to you again.
I really hope you see this message!

    Emily #911

  513. Hi AnonymousJ 1313 🙂 I scrolled to the end of the comments so that i could find someone who still had a book on their list, an bought yours for you 🙂 That was fun! Thank you Jenny for giving us the chance to brighten each others’ day.

    With love from New Zealand

  514. I know I’m late for Booksgiving but I was thinking that if international shipping is a concern then maybe check out http://www.bookdepository.com for future Booksgivings? :-/ They have free worldwide shipping and they ship to almost everywhere in the World (maybe not Northkorea? I don’t actually know, the website will say for sure xD)..

But yea, it’s an idea 🙂 Because I for one would’ve loooved a physical copy of Furiously Happy but being in Denmark shipping would be ridiculous, even with Amazon UK I’m sure.. >_<

    Anyway, just a thought 🙂
    With sadness..
    – Rizz

  515. Adding another useful tip to Heather’s (#1290) post of Amazon tips.

Amazon treats each different website location (.com. .co.uk, .de, .ca etc) as completely separate for Prime, so you can take their free Prime trial on each site and not have to pay shipping on any books that you send to folks. Take the free Prime trial option, then go back and make sure it doesn’t renew in the Your Prime section, of course, and you’ll save a bit on your booksgiving budget.

Even better is that you can get a free Prime trial every 12 months on Amazon sites, so if you time it right and take the trials on the different Amazon sites now then by the time Booksgiving rolls around next year then you’ll be able to do the same again. Everyone gets their books faster and you don’t have to pay a penny to ship them. The way I see it, Amazon is doing pretty darn good out of Booksgiving, so why not take the free shipping option!

  516. I think my list got buried up top. I am reposting here. I have the budget to do buy one more book, so if you want to do a straight-up book swap, email me at zooheatherone at gmail.com.

I have two books on my list – the one of Jenny’s I don’t have and a Spanish version of Harry Potter because I plan to do some field work in the Galapagos with tortoises, and I want to improve my fluency. So IF you wish to purchase for me and see only one book on the list, I am covered!

This is so much fun! Not only did I get to buy people good books, I got to add some to my own TBR pile.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2HN6T945PDHWA/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

  517. This is truly a wonderful thing. LOVE to see all this generosity.
I hope I’m not too late! There is some stuff going on in my life that I sorely need a distraction from.

    http://a.co/i4gu7C2
I only read on my Kindle, so I hope it’s ok that I have the kindle version on my list!

  518. Mark (#1317-ish)—

That’s good to know! I was disappointed that my Prime membership didn’t seem to apply to non-US websites, but I’m glad to find out I can have a free Prime trial at all of them. Thank you for the tip!

  519. I just got my copy of Furiously Happy! Thank you, Michelle S! You have truly made my day!! 🙂

  520. Thank you so much Kate and Danielle, for the two books sent to my daughter, she was over the moon in the idea that two people she didn’t know sent her the books she has been wanting for 6 months. She included you in her prayers last night. Thank you!!

  521. RuthC 98 here and UPS just delivered a book!

Thank you C! (won’t name name in case they’d rather not be named) <3

  522. Well I can see how this could be addictive. So much fun. I have received kindnesses at Booksgiving and this year I can now give. Samantha @ around #406? I sent a book from your list.

  523. Oh, my goodness! I’ve spent my lunch break going through lists to see if I can find one that still has a book on it! I’ve only found ONE! GREAT JOB, TRIBE!

  524. @ Samantha 406: I called up Amazon to let them know. Due to privacy they said they would contact you directly to figure out what’s going on with the delivery in your area. So sorry about all this fuss! Hope they can get it figured out.

  525. Thank u so much Kate, Kim, and the friend from D.C. the kids were so tickled when they opened the door and these packages. It makes my heart melt to see them happy and this wss all thanks to y’all. When we opened it Tyson grinned from ear to ear and jumped into my chair with me and wanted to read it. And my oldest son Ethan is sick at home with the flu but he’s happy he has some good books at home now to help pass the time. And I can remember being little watching the movie “The Last Unicorn” I loved it. It was one of my favorites and now I get to read it. Good bless y’all. Seriously y’all are angels in disguise.

    http://a.co/cIVHHJO

  526. Heather from comment 1229. This is a truly wonderful group of people. My boys and I had a hard time finding books because many list were already empty! Such a great problem to have. They really enjoyed picking out books and it helped show them you can send love/happies to someone you don’t even know. Happy reading to our book recipients.

  527. I had no idea how addicting it would be to buy books for strangers! Unfortunately, I have to stop as there’s still most of February to get through before the next payday. I have enjoyed this immensely and will come back to these posts to see if there are book wishes left to fill come March. There are still quite a few folks that have not entered their addresses to allow for their books to be shipped, which makes me very sad that I couldn’t get a book to them. PLEASE double-check that you have added your address!!

Lindsey (Anonymous 1251)… thank you so much for caring enough to send a book to my son! I will definitely add the remainder of the series to our Book Reading Wish list. Browncoats Forever!

Christina Tibbets (1257)…once again, crying at work! So sorry to hear of the troubles in your part of the world. Sending love and light in the darkness and mud to you and your boys (along with The Last Unicorn, one of my absolute faves when I was younger as is my tattered copy of Watership Down).

    Happy Booksgiving, y’all!

  528. To Heather and Emily, thank you and great big hugs.
Amelia, I read your post and my heart goes out to you. I wanted to buy your book. You too Jeff, but I am so happy see your lists fulfilled. I hope everything looks brighter in the future. Beautiful everyone, just beautiful!

  529. Kellie, comment 1218. A book to heal your heart is on its way.
Now, seriously, I’m done buying books. Seriously 🙂
    (I’m serious).

  530. If I’m not too late for Booksgiving, I’d like to put in a list for my husband. He’s been sick for awhile and getting depressed lately, and could use a humor book. I don’t have Prime but tried to pick a book that looked like it was Prime eligible. http://a.co/556GeMe This is such a great thing!

  531. lots of noise this morning; when I went down to see wtf was going there were THREE amazon parcels! I received 3 books today and I can’t stop hugging them.
Thank you amazing beautiful people out there.
One day I will have a bit of money and will join in the gifting part of things as well.
    big love

  532. #1280 knittingfrenzy18 Trying to send your book but you don’t have an address for your book list!

  533. I got books today! Yay! Thanks to my book fairy!! And thanks to you, Jenny! Happy Booksgiving to all!

  534. I received a book yesterday, hooray! Thank you “Booksgiving Friend”! You will make my surgery recovery a little nicer. 🙂

  535. I have received booksgiving gifts!!! Wonderful surprise, especially since one of the items I thought I moved off the list (they must have been shopping while I was shuffling that item). Anyway, the two books that I sent, the recipients have sent me thank you notes via Amazon – Very Sweet! Does anyone know how to have Amazon send a thank you? I can’t seem to figure it out.

  536. Anna^ when you receive a gifted item the package should come with a little slip containing a QR code (unless maybe the sender opted out, I’m not sure if that’s a choice). You can use the amazon app to scan the code and it will let you write a note, while keeping their email address private.

It’s a really cool feature that I didn’t know about before this event! I was happy to be able to thank people directly, in case they didn’t come back to this thread 🙂

  537. Lindsay, Thank you!!! I will look on the shipping/gift note paper. I never pay attention to those codes, so it would have escaped me entirely!

  538. Mother to 4. Ethan is 14, Tanner is 9, Tyson is 4, and Evelynn is 1. Their Dad works most of the time to pay bills and get things they need. I’ve had a couple people buy some books for us and they are greatly appreciated. The kids were almost fighting over them. It was cute that they got so excited. I love these ideas to give and help people. This is a blessing. We think our little girl might have cerebral palsy cause her right side is tight alot and she didn’t like to use it much. And she isn’t talking or babbling much either and at a little over 1yr old I figured she would be by now. But she is super attentive. She absolutely loves books with pretty pictures and when she is read to or just talked to. I love the way she looks at the books and then at me like she understands. It’s precious. And again thank you to all of y’all. God bless everyone.

  539. I literally posted my list only several days ago and I received my book in the mail yesterday. I was so touched. Thanks so much to whomever sent it to me!!!

  540. Just did a quick look through of some links and here are 10 lists that still have books to be bought!

    1267 Hannah
    1268 Jules
    1269 Anonymous
    1271 Madi
    1274 Renee
    1275 Crissi
    1276 Jane
    1280 knittingfrenzy18
    1294 Amanda
    1295 Jen

Show them some love, happy booksgiving!

  541. Gingersass (1176) I read your blog post and was very touched. You advocate so well for your students! I spoke to the hubby and we are going to skip our weekend brunch and are sending you some more books. I tried to open a twitter account to let you know, but it defeated me. (I need a social media tutor!) And again, the books did not come off your list so you will also receive Lies We Tell Ourselves, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender, Some Boys, White Teeth, Belzhar, and Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future. All of the used books I am sending will be there by March 7th. Your students are valued. They are people that should stand up and be counted among Americans. They are one with us and we with them. I’m glad you chose books that tell them to stay strong. I wish I could buy all the rest of the books on your list for them, but this is all I can budget. I will try and conquer the Twitter beast and get in touch with you.

  542. Thank you to Marcia and Samantha! We have our weekend planned now with our book surprises!

  543. Welp, I turn my back for 5 minutes and almost miss Booksgiving!

Jen @ 1295, I hope this helps your son escape to a happy place, look for something around the 17th (Amazon doesn’t offer Prime to us Aussies, yet)

Happy Booksgiving everyone! (Well, it’s polite to be slightly late to the party isn’t it?)
    Mac

  544. We received a Madeline book and don’t know who sent it but I wanted to thank you. I hope you will see this message. My 3 year old daughter is over the moon to have her very own Madeline book! We read it about a million times yesterday and guess what the first thing she wanted to do this morning was? Thank you for seriously brightening our lives. Now we’re learning French colors and numbers!

  545. What a great feeling I had when I got home and saw a package waiting for me with Jenny’s book inside!!! Thank you so much! You made my month!!!

  546. My daughter and I received our books and are OVER THE MOON with happiness! How very generous you all are! I went ahead and picked two people as well, you should be receiving your books next week. Thanks to Jenny The Bloggess and to everyone who is participating, there’s so much ugliness out there right now, this is confirmation that good still wins 🙂

    Thank you!

    FVM.

  547. You guys! I came out of my sickness fog and realized some lovely person(s) bought the book my daughter wanted and then books for each of them! They’ll be so excited when they arrive! Thank you guys and thanks to Jenny for a lovely holiday 🙂
I haven’t a clue what comment I was but this was the list
    Books
    Link: http://a.co/7RIKUL4

  548. Me again! Sorry! I meant to post the description of the list not the link. Maybe foggier than I thought lol. Or I’ve lost my copy/paste abilities…
It was titled Books and the description was “12 year old girl, 8 year old girl and 3 year old boy”

  549. This has become one of my favorite holidays… even though it’s the 2nd time around… because it gives me hope in people… Can’t believe I almost missed it…. I still appreciate the 2 books I got last year, and I hope I can bring a little ray of sunshiny glitter to someone this year… except withou the mess. Here’s my list this year… thanks in advance to whoever gets me anything… and bless everyone for participating. ☺️

  550. Jen (#1373-ish & #1374-ish) and Amanda W (#1375)—

Amazon tells me books (4 for Jen, 1 for Amanda) will arrive Tuesday.

  551. I’d like to thank a few angels out there that bought some more of my lists books. Thank u Dixie Evans,Frances, Heather A., and an anonymous booksgiving friend. We all had fun opening and reading the new childrens books. I don’t know if anyone out there might have an interest in comics but my oldest son Ethan who is 14 wss hoping for one. If anyone out there can do this for him it would make his day. Good bless each and every one of y’all you’re amazing truly.

    http://a.co/7znSWak

  552. Well, poop. I forgot the names of the people I bought for, but one is arriving TODAY! So yay!

Stupid question. I have never done a wish list before. If someone buys off of my wish list, does the item disappear from my list?

    (Yep! ~ Jenny)

  553. I just realized that while I can’t afford to buy any ‘real’ books for anyone I might have some digital credit to buy ebooks. However, I have no idea how to find out. Anyone know how to check that? I’d love to be able to participate in this as a giver as well as a receiver. I’ll check back soon.

  554. Anelecia (1143) – your book should be there on Tuesday – which is cool, ‘cos – happy Valentines! I hope it helps – happy reading, and lots of good thoughts and hugs from Perth, Australia.

  555. My 14 year old was hoping one of the bookgivers out there might be able and willing to get a comic for him. He has me check on here everyday to see what our friends on here have bought. I just want to thank y’all all again from my whole family. The little ones love sitting and reading with their Dad and I. 😊

    http://a.co/1gT7gI4

  556. Thank u drandreacampbell. Ethan will absolutely be thrilled. He has wanted to start collecting comics maybe this will be his beginning. I also added 2 of Jenny’s books that looked awesome. I battle with depression and stuff. It can be stressful taking care of a family of 6. God bless y’all you are all wonderful angels delivering blessings and it is greatly associated. I love y’all!

    http://a.co/h5wGeEq

  557. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is amazing. Jenny you are an amazing person and I hope one day I will be able to meet you! For the buyers, it’s so great to know that there are good people out there! ❤❤❤❤❤

  558. drandreacampbell – the copy of infinite jest arrived mangled. I emailed them with pictures to see if I could exchange or get a replacement/readable copy. They would only do it if I sent it back and used the credit to purchase another copy. I’m sorry for any confusion! This was for my sister in law and I wanted her to have been a copy she could actually read. Thank your again for your gift! I will purchase her another copy as soon as the credit gets applied.

  559. i cannot believe the generosity within this group of lovely people. shows there is still good and kindness in the world. <3

  560. I do not own a phone that scans (I have a simple little phone-phone that calls) so I cannot thank people on Amazon directly.

jam1es (#1340) Words are failing me; my brain doesn’t work very well, due to Lyme’s, but if I could show you my heart (gratitude) you would understand how your gesture and sacrifice lifted me up in a way that has me humbled and elated. Thank you for giving me (my family) a book I have wanted to read for a long time; one I (we) will treasure for even longer. Your name will grace the inside as a reminder.

Somer – Thank you for the coloring book. It is, indeed, filling my days with little mediations and headspace, pencil-stroke by pencil-stroke. I have placed your name inside, too.

To whomever purchased, “The Underground Abductor (Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales #5): An Abolitionist Tale about Harriet Tubman” thank you for helping make my son’s birthday more special.

I am finding that books are becoming increasingly important to my family, as each new day passes — but what you three people have done for us personally is much bigger than a book (and the books are huge). Your gestures run soul deep, as they fill me with the desire to work even harder to spread love, extend my services, and give more of myself. Thank you, again.

To Jenny and every single one of you reaching out to strangers and sacrificing to give, y’all inspire me with your amazingness. XxXxXx

  561. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! One of my favorite things to do is send my friends random books that I think are amazing and that I think they will love! Your books have been sent many MANY TIMES! Thank you for all you do!

  562. I received a book today! Thank you Channon!! I was so excited, I decided to send one back to you… plus sent out several more tonight as well!

  563. Thank you so much to the Bookgiver who sent me “Man’s Search for Meaning”. And many thanks in advance to Melissa for the book which will arrive next month!

  564. Such a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift for us from you. <3 With the string of bad news/news of betrayal by a friend my daughter was getting and me being down about not having anyone to spend Valentine’s Day with (my kids are awesome), the UPS guy showing up with all of the books was great.
Harley was down the steps and out the door before I could make it to the steps. lol. Poor Tanny just rolled over and grunted (he is home sick with the flu). But smiled when Harley opened the books. Harley has decided that she may not want to share. It was nice to see her smile. I have to admit I cried some.
The love could be felt all over the house this morning. I know we will make it through this round of crap. Just a few more battle scars than we had before we started this journey. The coloring books will be a wonderful distraction for us.
Again thank you very much for the distraction and the smiles (@jam1es – #1183, @Mindy2 – #1234, and @Shannon Tolbrit – #1195/1207) you all are angels. Blessings, peace, and joy for eternity to you all. Much love, Naomi, Harley, & Tanny

  565. I’m #599 and I can’t even tell you how much I needed a kindness when I received my book the other day. Rachelle: wherever and whoever you are, you are amazing and thank you so very much for being so kind to a stranger on the internet.

  566. Thank u all once again. My next to oldest Tanner who is 9 wanted to add Pokemon to the list in hopes that he might get a comic like his brother Ethan. I told him he could try but they may not be able to buy it this late into the booksgiving. And I have one of Jenny’s books on here Furiously Funny. It looked really good like something I could use for a pick me up. But anyways God bless everyone and thank u all again. ❤ Happy Valentine’s Day! ⚘🌷🌼🌹
    http://a.co/5XMoodX

  567. 923 here, and I want to thank the two (TWO!) generous strangers who gifted me with most-wanted books. You truly made my day, and I can’t thank you enough.

  568. @Megsharp I just got such a great book with the nicest note inside today. Thank you so much! These past couple of days have been so stressful and this has helped so much. Again, THANK YOU
    – Bessie (ftprincess818)

  569. This is one of the coolest things I have been a part of!!! Thank you to Freyja for my Kindle copy of One Thousand Gifts. I have had my eye on this for awhile now and it’s coming into my life when I feel I really need it. Also, thank you to Heather A. in NJ for my copy of Amy Schumer’s new book, The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo. It arrived yesterday for Valentine’s Day! I hope you ladies are receiving some fun books as well. Happy Reading everyone!!

  570. Just wanted to say that I received not one, not two, but three fabulous books from three wonderful strangers. This has been an amazing experience and I’m so glad that I got to be a part of it; both giving and receiving.

  571. Shannon, I was totally taken by surprise to receive “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!” I am floored and weepy, but in the best possible way!

  572. Aindrila – #1415, Amazon.in says your books are out for delivery but someone needs to sign for them.

  573. Crissi C–Those last four books were the only ones that were “really wanted”? That’s kind of a slap to the other generous folks who provided 23–yes 23–books for your family already through the 2017 Booksgiving. If those other 23 weren’t really wanted, why request them?

  574. Gosh Suzybee! That was so so kind of you.Loved the surprise.I can’t believe someone continents away would actually gift me books!I wish I could gift you books too but I’m a broke student.Someday I hope
Lots of love from India 🙂 Thank you so much again. 🙂

  575. Agreed, Anonymous 1433!!!
I wrote this post a few days ago but was concerned about offending folks so never posted it.

This is my first time participating in Booksgiving and I have had a BLAST buying books and sending joy to people I have never met. This “holiday” has shown me that there are still good people in the world and it has made a huge crack in my cynical heart. I have seen so many posts expressing enormous gratitude for such a seemingly small thing. This all makes my heart very happy and I have cried many tears of joy.

Now, on to the not so happy part…because I want to keep believing in and showing others that there is still goodness left in this world, I keep coming back to these posts to read them over again and look for new folks to bless. Only I find that, mixed in with all the thank you’s and late-comers, there are others that have posted their list link numerous times despite having already been blessed by a book-giver. This breaks my heart! If you are lucky enough to have already been given the joy of a book or two (or 23!!!), even if you haven’t yet received them in the mail, PLEASE allow someone else to be blessed by this “holiday”. Please be so kind as to stop posting your list link AND change your list to Private in Amazon (yes, I did that with my own list already). I am trying very hard to not let the actions of a few make me cynical again and I guess the best way to avoid that is to not look at the posts again.

To any late-comers looking to bless people, I would highly recommend you use becomingcliche’s (1386) very handy tip (“You can check to see what has already been purchased for a Tribe member by adding ?reveal=purchased to the end of their link”). Book-givers beware.

All of the above aside, there are still some folks that have only one book on their list but haven’t set up their address in order to have their wish fulfilled. I have tried many times to send books to such folks. Maybe the consolidated list that keeps getting posted should only include those folks?? I do hope that they eventually get the book that they wished for.

Anyway, thanks again to Jenny for getting this all started. I really have enjoyed participating and am truly grateful to my book-givers.

  576. Thank you to all the ones that contributed to Booksgiving, making the days happier for those in need. Congratulations to those that received a needed book, and I hope it helped heal your soul a little. Thank you to Jenny for providing the platform to make this all happen.
And shame on the ones that use this event to grab as much free stuff as they possibly can. This is not an all-you-can-eat buffet where you load up as much as you possibly can and still shamelessly beg for more. I’m making my list of names that I will not help in the future because they took great advantage, and I hope others are as well.

  577. I hadn’t told my son about this yet, so when the two packages arrived, I let him open them. Then I explained why we received books from people we didn’t know and how joy can be found in the unexpected gift of a book. He was amazed that anyone would do that and was truly surprised.

Lindsey – Thank you for the gift of “A Wrinkle in Time”. I can’t wait to start reading it with my son (I decided to get him the graphic novel version of it). He is currently reading “The Life of Pi” (another amazing book) for school but is excited for us to read a book together. I will be sure to add “A Swiftly Tilting Planet” to the line up of books to read next.

Southern Maryland – Thank you for sending a book for each of us and the coloring book that we can enjoy together. I started reading Jenny’s book and can’t stop laughing! And I love the idea of writing in the Q&A journal together! The difficult teenage years are starting but maybe the Q&A journal can be another way to connect.

Thank you seems such a piddly phrase…I am humbled by y’alls generosity and your sweet notes are going in the front of the books so we always remember the lovely people that were kind enough to send books to strangers.
Peace, love and light to all!

  578. I wish to thank everyone so much for the books for me, my sister, my son and my granddaughter. I’ve sent email thanks to the ones that came with a link but not everything did, so I wanted to be sure to pass along my thanks here. This is the best holiday EVER. I sure hope that next year I can participate as a giver.

  579. I didn’t mean it that way. I meant those were the only ones left out of all the others that I had deleted cause we had gotten a bunch of others. My son Tanner added the Pokemon like I had said before after seeing his older brother getting comics and he was really wanting one and I found out about Jenny’s book . I didn’t mean for it to hurt anyone all the books are greatly appreciated and read every night some of them more than once.

  580. And thank u to whomever u are that bought the Pokemon n furiously funny. When Tanner opens it I wish I could take a picture of his face. I haven’t told him I want him to be surprised. He had been talking about this boy at school bring one and showing it off to him and now thanks to whoever u are he will have one too. Sincerely all of you guys that bought things these kids now have plenty to read and are enjoying it. I apologize if that post hurt anyone. I had deleted ALOT and only left those. Again thank u.

  581. There wasn’t a gift receipt with the copy of “milk & honey” that someone sent to me and my daughter so I couldn’t email a thank you note, but if you happen to be reading this, THANK YOU!

And Jen, I got your thank you note. I hope your son enjoys it!

  582. to the lovely person who sent 3(!!!) LOTR books, i cannot tell you how thankful i am! you are truely a wonderful kind hearted person (unfortunately no note so i dont know your name), but wow you’ve really made me smile. 🙂 x THANKS!!!

  583. THANK YOU CAITLIN B! I just received Fredrik Backman’s My Grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry. Can’t wait to sink in to this book! All this LOVE is happening so fast for me, so much is new! It started with Tina Fey’s Bossy Pants back in December, traveling with my husband who was being a jerk and Tina’s voice in my head was EXACTLY what I needed to stay grounded. Amazon suggested I’d like you Jenny if I liked Bossy Pants. Nailed it amazon rec, thank you! Let’s Pretended this never happened is one of the funniest books I’ve read. And even better (maybe), I’m not devouring books almost daily. This is new for this ADD mama (yes, really, I am actually ADD and it’s insane being a mom at the same time, with the depression and anxiety parts too). I never made time for me to just sit and read. I can’t tell you how therapeutic it’s been. It’s like, my personality and humor are coming back, and I’m like– hello, I used to know you! You were so funny! It’s like I’m sassy again. And I have almost no experience responding to blogs, so to suddenly be getting a booksgiving book in the mail, it’s truly amazing! I’m going to look for a wish list that hasn’t gotten a book yet…
Thank you Jenny for this awesome idea– and for your strong female voice, your heart and your spirit. You have touched so many!
-Lisa A from 1380 (if that’s how I’m supposed to sign my name, I don’t even really know).

  584. I I received 2 books and I wanted to say thank you so much! One was signed from Audrey – thank you Audrey for Radiance, I’ve been wanting to read that and the other wasn’t signed but was an Alisha Rai book I’ve been wanting. Thank you both!

  585. Thank you to whomever gifted me the Food Journal & Blood Sugar Log! (I tried using the link from Amazon, but the page only comes up as “does not exist”.) Your gift will be put to good use!

  586. Thank you to the lovely person who sent well wishes for me and my cat! You are a truly beautiful soul. And the book Art, Inc. is truly appreciated! THANK YOU!!!!

  587. @Joe post 206. I bought and sent the book but the post office says they tried to deliver and left a note. Hope you actually have it. If not, here is the tracking number 9341989674090041951755 USPS

  588. Thank you, Jacqueline from Brazil!! What a wonderful surprise to have Jenny’s latest book show up at my doorstep last night…and all dressed up in a sparkly purple gift bag, no less! I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but I’m sending it out with all sorts of shiny happy gratitude and love. Hugs, Maureen

  589. Melissa T! Thank you so much for the book I needed — and a book I wanted (but didn’t list)!

  590. A book I REALLY frekin need
I’m in CANADA. I read Jenny Lawson’s Furiously Happy and for the first time in over ten years, I laughed out loud. I laughed so hard that the people in line and the cashier were looking at me strangely. It may have been because I had snot spraying out of my nose because I was trying so hard NOT to laugh out loud or because I was convulsing in what looked like a vertical conscious seizure. God it felt SO good to laugh again. And then, I thought, if I can laugh even after all that I have been through over the past ten years, then there is hope. Jenny Lawson is my ray of sunshine, piercing the darkness that has been my cocoon. Love you Jenny!

  591. Found an un-gifted link, so Happy Very Belated Booksgiving to Margaret…?

  592. Mandy (1129), thank you for paying it forward and sending Jenny’s book to me, and thank you again, Jenny for this amazing idea. I recently ordered 3 copies of you are here, 1 for me and 2 as gifts, but now I can gift 3! I am so grateful, Liz.

  593. Melissa #950 Thank you for purchasing Jenny’s book for me – sadly, it never arrived. Hope you see this – I wanted to let you know because I hope you haven’t been charged for it? I don’t know how else to contact you to let you know?

  594. To the person who sent me a copy of Furiously Happy; THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! It’s been a rough few weeks and this was such a fantastic and much needed surprise. I can’t wait to dig in!

  595. Melissa #950 My book has now arrived and thank you so much. It arrived with perfect timing on the weekend I was dreading – Mother’s Day and the 8th anniversary of the day my husband had a massive brain heamorrhage which left him significantly disabled and made me a full-time carer… Thank you xxx

  596. I had to come back and say a big “thank you” to everyone involved in this event. The book that I received was “The Book of Joy” and, while I recommend it to everyone because it was awesome, it was made even sweeter by the fact that I received it from a kind stranger 🙂 There are so many ways we can give each other a little more joy and this was a great one. Thanks, Deanna!
