#WheresRory? Having more fun than should be legally allowed.

Have you been following Rory’s adventures around the world?  Because you should be.  If you’re lost, go here to catch up.  I’ve been sick for the last few weeks but I’ve been traveling vicariously with Rory and it’s been lovely and probably not just because there is a lot of codeine in this cough medicine.  In the last week he’s been to Korea, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Mount Rushmore, London, Canada, Australia, and in lots and lots of trouble.

You should check them out here but here are a few of my very favorites which weirdly seem to tell a story:

Maybe it’s just me.

  1. I love this so much. I feel like I should give you something in return, so I am bequeathing my firstborn to you. He is 28 and balding and has been a grumpy old man since age three. Enjoy!!

  2. I posted a couple from Las Vegas last week on Instagram! Rory had a blast at the Star Trek Convention!

  3. Rory has almost made me want to a Twitter. Ed tweet. Or maybe just poop indiscriminatelyas birds tend to do

  4. Omg! That was MY cocktail Rory was trying to steal!! I may have squealed a little.
PS. I think Rory has a drinking problem.

  5. Been feeling really down for a while but had been hearing about your new book and thought, with a title like “furiously happy” I had to read it. Of course, judging a book by its title doesn’t always book (“Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha – is not a comedy!), but based on your blog and other writing, I’m sure it’ll be a bright spot when I get home from work and want to crawl under the bed.

Bummed it’s not out for a month and a half yet, but I’ve scheduled it as a reason to force myself out to go to the bookstore to get it!

  6. Man, the traveling Rory story came out just DAYS after I visited Alcatraz. How cool would that photo have been? Speaking of photos, I loved the ones depicting anxiety but just looking at them made me feel a little anxious. Perhaps they should come with a warning label. Though perhaps that wouldn’t help. Whenever the chemicals are off in my brain, I can have a panic attack for NO REASON at all. Which is awesome when you’re peeing in the women’s restroom at work and you’re like, “There is absolutely nothing to feel panicked about! Brain– get your shit together!”. As you’ve said about your own brain before, sometimes my brain is an asshole.

  7. Reply to thetattootourist – that is indeed Arthur Darvill (Rory) in person!

  8. I would love a Where’s Rory shirt, where you actually had to find Rory in a sea of ethically taxidermed (what’s the word?) animals.

  9. I too had a moment of “Holy crap is that Arthur Darvill?!”. Rory is winning at life . . . or not, depending on your view of the legal system, lol.

  10. Totally irrelevant to the post content. Ever read Neil Gaiman’s Coraline? Or better, listened to the audiobook? For reasons I can’t explain, this graphic of you reminds me of the creepy song the other world rats sing. “We are small but we are many…”

(LOVE Coraline. And I can totally see what you mean. ~ Jenny)

  11. I think I mentioned earlier that this reminded me of Flat Stanley…it’s a cut out you get with the children’s book, Flat Stanley…and you send him off to your far-flung friends and relatives and they send back pictures and then the whole classroom of 1st or 2nd graders get to share where their Flat Stanley went.
I’m just guessing here…but I don’t think that Flat Stanley ever ended up in someone’s cleavage or posing with a whole pile of blow like a raccoon version of Tony Montoya.

  12. I was sure I saw him in my backyard in Canada, slumming it by going through the garbage with a gang of drunk raccoons. He was wearing a bowler hat and a white suit–it reminded me of something I read once…

  13. I want to turn it serious for a sec and sincerely thank you. You being honest and open about your struggles help me be more honest with the people in my life. Not to mention you’re outrageously funny. And you seem to attract other funny people, so even if you’re feeling off, odds are someone else here can make you smile for a change. Thank you for being you. Thank you for letting us be us. 🙂

  14. Rory just makes me smile til it hurts. Although I shared the link on FB and got my ever-present-ever-commenting mom to say “that’s disturbing”, which I thought was totally not the right response and possibly she’s not looking at it right, because HOW CAN THAT NOT BE FUNNY MOM?

Also, we possibly need to stage an intervention to stop her commenting like that on everysinglepostandphotoever. Mom. Stahp.

  15. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rory holding Rory!!! That wouldn’t be the real Arthur Darville, would it??? How cool would that be?!

  16. Yay! My pics made it to the blog. I’m getting such a kick out of all of these. 🙂

  17. Apparently, Amazon.com believes that you need to save The Doctor from some lovely hills and valleys in Yorkshire. I never imagined The Doctor would get himself kidnapped by a spot of Earth.

  18. Rory will be going native in New Zealand as soon as I kick this chest gunk thing that is stronger than the Hulk and has more phlegm than Swamp Thing. And you will be astounded and offended and we will win all the bears.

  19. I’m slowly making my way through “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” (mainly because I don’t want it to end) and have just finished the chapter with your 10 year old joint offering to Native American spirits. I was feeling so overwhelmed after a bad depression day and just had to let you know how much having a good cry over the loss of Barnaby Jones, followed by a good laugh over everything else had lifted my spirits. There’s nothing like shared crazy, especially shared Southern country crazy. Thank you for ending my day in a much brighter place than it began.

  20. Talking about Dr Who, couldn’t someone persuade the doctor to take Rory (the flat one) into space? That way he could photographed at the furthest reaches of the galaxy. Bet even the daleks couldn’t get the cheerful little fellow down.

  21. So excited! It must be such a thrill to sign so many books and just drink in all the love. Of course, you give out a lot of love and humor and warmth and empathy so it’s all like a karmic circle with the addition of taxidermy. I am loving Rory’s adventures. I see a book in the making there as well.

  22. I know where that celebrity picture was taken because I have the same one! Although Arthur Darvill looks a little less concerned for my sanity in my picture. I guess I just hide my crazy well…

  23. I’m so excited about the book plate! My book is pre-ordered. I’m one of your Mormon fangirls. Love you! Thank you for bring more laughter into my life.

  24. Hi Jenny! I have been trying to sneak in to the office early for the past 2 weeks to print out Rory without being noticed, but my damn co-workers are too damn dedicated to their work and have pipped me to the post. I would love to take Rory on a pub crawl and on a tour of the President of Ireland’s house here in Dublin, after which he would be able to retire quietly at my office desk 🙂

  25. I never thought I’d see the day cardboard had more fun than me!
I love how far he’s travelling and wild his antics are xo

  26. Hey, Rory’so been to Bahrain and Doha too, but I didn’t see them on the map.I think I’m not posting the pics right (if you look up nontech savy in the dictionary you see my picture. I’m only handy to my 15 year old when it’s late and she’s doing power points.)

(That’s so awesome! Do you have a link to the pics? ~ Jenny)
