The Third Annual Booksgiving

Hello and welcome to the third annual Booksgiving Day!

What is “Booksgiving Day?”  It’s a day to celebrate the magic of reading and to collectively give the stink-eye to people who don’t understand that no, you don’t actually want to just wait for the movie to come out.

[protected-iframe id=”b1bb1ddfd896718eccd08f6ac83f8f38-58006636-1561224″ info=”https://giphy.com/embed/PDwtbXc1HWLRK” width=”480″ height=”192″ frameborder=”0″ class=”giphy-embed”]

Basically, two years ago I wanted to thank you guys for all of your support by giving out 30 copies of Furiously Happy, which I did, but then everyone else was like, “I WANT TO GIVE BOOKS TO PEOPLE TOO” so we set up a day where you could ask for one book from a stranger using an Amazon wishlist and if someone wanted to give it to you they would.  And they did.  Some people asked for a book for their child.  Some asked for a book to escape life for a bit.  Some asked just to have a reminder that they exist and matter, and then they went back in and bought a book for someone else.  And people found friends (and ridiculously good book recommendations) by looking at the particular book that each person really wanted.  And it was lovely.

Then last year people were like “LET’S DO IT AGAIN” and we did.  And it was awesome.  And this week we’re doing it again so if you want to ask for a book (or give a book) the details are all here.

I’m giving out 30 of my own books for those of you who are part of the community but haven’t been able to buy one, but you can pick any book at all and leave it in the comments and I’ll probably give out others once I hit my 30.  Furiously Happy is less than $6 today, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is still in print and YOU ARE HERE: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds is on sale too.  WHOOP!

bookplateforfuriouslyhappy

Here are the rules:

If you’re in a rough place and need a book to transport you somewhere else make A BRAND NEW wish list with nothing on it but the one book you want.  (Exception: If you have a kid who needs a book you can add that too.)

Here’s how you make a wish list:

Under “Accounts & Lists” choose “Create a list”:

.

Select “Wish List”.  Name it something like “A book I need”.  Select “Public” and make sure that “keep purchased items on your list” is NOT checked.

.

Now go find the book you want.  When you have it, click on the “Add to List” dropdown arrow and choose the wishlist you just made.

.

It will give you a confirmation screen where you should choose “View Your List”.

.

Here’s the most important part that people forget to do.  You have to add a shipping address to this wishlist even if you’ve already added it to other wish lists.  (Your address isn’t shared.  Just your name and city.)  Click on “Edit this list”…

.

…and where it says “Shipping Address” change it from “None” to your address.  Then click “Save Changes”.

Leave a link to your wishlist in the comments and say which book you’re asking for.  Pick things that are “Prime” whenever possible because it’s free shipping for a lot of us and lots of non-prime places won’t send to wishlist addresses.  Also, if you’re not in America put that in the comment so we can match people better by location and not have crazy shipping fees.   Feel happy.

Here’s how you buy a book for a stranger.  Click on their link.  Choose a book.  Select their name so it goes to their address.  If it doesn’t give you the option of picking their name it means they didn’t add a shipping address so delete what’s in your cart and go to the next person.  Send a story to someone in need.  Feel happy.

The only rule is that this is just for books.  No gift cards or clothes or anything else because it gets out of hand really quickly.  Just a simple book to take you away from the world and help you find new ones.

And as always, thank you.  Thank you for supporting my words and listening and passing them on to others.  Thank you for being amazing.  Thank you for reading.  Thank you for writing.  Thank you for llamas if you had anything to do with inventing llamas.

PS.  If you click on a wish list that says it’s empty that’s because the book has already been bought for them.   That is a very good thing.

PPS.  I love you guys.  Now I’m off to buy books.

  1. HOORAY! My favorite holiday! Thank you so much for keeping the tradition alive, Jenny! <3

  2. I L.O.V.E. this idea! Thankfully, not at a place where I need this myself right now, but because of that, I can’t wait to love on someone else by buying books! Bring on those comments with links – I can’t wait to play along!

  3. WooHoo! I love to buy books. It’s one of the most generous things I can think of to give to someone, besides food. And a book is food for the soul. Yay, you!

  4. I love Booksgiving Day! I desperately need an escape from reality book that is light and fun! Please, oh please!

  5. Every time I think about quitting IT to do something else I read books about dealing with the dead and fantasize about going in to a line of people can’t really compain (They’re dead after all). I’ve had this on my wishlist for a while now, but had never managed to get around to picking it.

  6. Yay my favorite holiday!!! I can’t wait to send you all books!

(Can you make a new list with just the one book you want? Thanks! ~ Jenny)

  7. Hi All. Canadian Here. I’m looking for a copy of Momentus because I lent my copy and it never returned home – I’m sure it’s having a wonderful time out in the world though.

P.S. Jenny your books make the BEST gifts. I’ve sent them across Canada over the past year – and everyone loves them even if strangers give us funny looks when we snort laugh in waiting rooms while reading.

(Someone beat me to it! ~ Jenny)

  8. I love to buy books for other people! I won’t be able to buy an expensive book, but I love buying someone a paperback just for entertainment. I have found you have to keep on top of comments because wishlists get bought for pretty quickly.

  9. Oh my gosh, I’d looove a copy of YOU ARE HERE for my mom! (Or really any of your books, but that’s the one I don’t have and thus she can’t just borrow). Love you and everyone in this weird tribe 😊

(Come back and leave a link to your wishlist, okay? ~ Jenny)

  10. Still haven’t been able to afford You Are Here this year and would love that.

I’m working on writing my own manuscript that I hope I can give to people next year (about chronically ill people lashing out in an alternative universe where their healthcare is cruelly stripped from them by greedy politicians cough). But until I finish it and get someone to publish it, being chronically ill myself, I continue to be too broke to buy my own books.

(I don’t see it on your list so looks like it’s on its way to you, sweet friend. ~ Jenny)

  11. Oh how wonderful! I’ve got a brand new baby and a two year old, and I just need a little escape, you know? And my sweet two year old falls asleep “reading” every night already, so maybe a little something for him, too, if someone didn’t mind.

    http://a.co/bzSRR1k

(Can I just say how lovely it is when I click on these lists and find the book has already been bought? Because it’s sort of amazing. ~ Jenny)

  12. My name is Joy. I was blessed to receive You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds last year and thank you for providing this same opportunity this year. I have a friend who regularly goes into the hospital for mental issues. (border line personality, ptsd, depression…she’s got a list) I would love to be able to gift her a book. MIne’s a bit colored in already lol….Thank you. http://a.co/9voWHRu

(Looks like someone beat me to it! ~ Jenny)

  13. Booksgiving is such a magical time of the year!! It certainly helps to warm up these cold winter days. I would love any of the books on this list – and the Ripley’s Believe it or Not & Guinness World Record books are ones that I’d love to have for my middle school students. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade reading to low-level readers, and those books are ones they always go for because of the interesting pictures – but then they have to read the small paragraphs to find out about the interesting picture! (Ha, I made them read!) So anything from this list would be wonderful 🙂 Hearts to you all!

(Looks like 3 books are on their way! ~ Jenny)

  14. I feel dumb when it comes to sharing wish lists. But, I’ll hopefully figure it out. Thank you, as always, for being an amazing lady!

  15. Okay, here’s my list. It has a few books I would love and a couple for my decidedly not a voracious r water child. Anything would be fabulous. Both of our birthdays are next month, too. 🙂

(I think you forgot to add your list. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  16. I love this! Recently started researching trauma and healing and can’t afford to add this to my library at the moment, but it would really be invaluable. http://a.co/eX3IfDW

(Looks like it’s on its way! ~ Jenny)

  17. Happy Booksgiving, love and light to Jenny and all the amazing friends you brought together by sharing your life with us. PS- Thanks for signing my taxidermy fish! Here is a list of books I have been drooling over- http://a.co/0RCAXBl

(This is an awesome list but can you narrow it down to just one book? ~ Jenny)

  18. Commenter #20, a copy of You Are Here is on the way. From one Jenny Lawson fan to another.

  19. All I really need is to look at Jean-Luc Picard in his swimsuit. That’ll do fine for me!! Seriously, I LOVE this idea, Jenny.

  20. Jenny, please correct my phone’s idiotic autocorrect. It should read “Not a voracious READER child.” facepalm I’m totally going to end up on Damn You, Autocorrect!

  21. How do you find a strangers link?

(Just go to any link that they share in the comments and you can buy a book for them if it hasn’t been bought already. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  22. I don’t have enough money to gift someone with a book, but I sincerely wish everyone the happiest of Booksgivings!

  23. I’ve loved buying for people before and unfortunately now I’m in the need category. Both my son and I are bookworms and he also loves drawing. He’s 7 and I’m trying to encourage him but since my husband was just laid off (side eyeing you, huge corporation taking advantage of tax cuts) I really want to make sure my kid gets something fun for Easter. Yes, I think ahead because that covers my brand of worrying about everything. Luckily my family balances me so I don’t drive them nuts and I’m the only one who suffers the insomnia. Hopefully I did the link correctly.

  24. The Bee: A Natural History

I’ve gone back to school, so book purchases are a luxury for me.

I’m studying Spanish and Latin American studies; the focus of my degree is Heritage Farming – farming practices and the ecology of the Southwest at the time of the European arrival.
I got into bees (and developed the focus of my work) when I was walking across campus and saw a dude with a box of bees. He was just standing there, him & his bees! 🙂

As an older student, that’s been my bridge and how I’ve connected to other students and not felt out of place while back and school.

THIS IS THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER!!! 🙂

  25. This made me smile as I’m having a really rough day. I used to read as a way to deal with my anxiety but it’s been so bad that I haven’t read a book in months. I used to read over 100 books a year. There are three books on my list-one for me and one for each of my kids. If someone wants to be generous to us, pick one of my kids. <3

  26. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/DCGT1F1UCDTM

MEEEEE please. Also, I have two teenagers that I’ll loan out, free, anytime. Don’t even have to ask. Just stop by- I’ll send you my address. One is very helpful but has incredibly expensive taste in EVERYTHING (poor sucker, get a job), and the other is a 17 year old girl. I don’t think I need to explain anything more than that. Ok, if you need dishes SORTA washed after much yelling and reminding and attitude, she’s your girl!

    ha. haaah. hahahahahahahahaOMGSENDMESANITYINBOOKFORMhahahahahaha

(I tried to buy one but you don’t have a shipping address. Can you add? ~ Jenny)

  27. I have heard so many great things about The Wife Between Us. I cannot wait to read it! I could use an escape from reality right now. 🙂
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/XR6QKSIOX5YY

    Thank you!!

(It won’t let me buy it for you because it’s a kindle book and it wants to send it to my kindle. Can you change it out for the paperback version on your list? ~ Jenny)

  28. I’m going through some shizzzzz right now, and either one of these would be super helpful.

    http://a.co/fIH4cX6

    Off to give more books.

(Can you add a shipping address? Thanks! ~ Jenny)

  29. This may become a new favorite holiday! Booksgiving…how fun indeed. I have so many books I would love to acquire but I’d love one of your books….Furiously Happy is such a great title too. Something I’m craving extremely bad in my life is more happy. Thank you for doing this!

(I went to buy you Furiously Happy but it’s kindle so I can’t send it. Also you need to add a shipping address. ~ Jenny)

  30. I think I did it right? I’m looking for something to distract me. Life is a big bowl of suck right now. Thanks❤

(Just adding a note that you’re in Canada so any Canadians looking to gift a book will know where to go. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  31. Oh Jenny, I participated last year and a very kind person sent me You Are Here. I was really struggling at the time and that was such a kind gesture that I’ve literally thought of every day since. 💞
This year, I’d love to have a copy of The Book of Dust. I’m a big His Dark Materials fan and I’ve been dying to read it. Here’s my link – I live in Germany, by the way, and hope to find a few Europeans to buy books for in return!

(Looks like it’s already on its way! ~ Jenny)

  32. I love this idea!

    http://a.co/fUM1fIl

(It won’t let me send anything kindle. Can you delete and add something physical instead? Also, that book doesn’t come out until Halloween. Just FYI. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  33. Would love to be surprised with any of the books on this list – but especially any of Jenny Lawson’s books. I’m trying to move away from using my kindle to read as much so paperback or hardcover preferred.

(I think you forgot to add your list. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  34. Would love to be surprised with any of the books on this list – but especially any of Jenny Lawson’s books. I’m trying to move away from using my kindle to read as much so paperback or hardcover preferred. http://a.co/fqIEdTM

(Just sent you Furiously Happy! ~Jenny)

  35. I love Booksgiving! I was recently recovering from a pretty major surgery and I had some friends randomly send me books and coloring books and it was awesome! Already ordered a book for someone on the list here and that made me very happy.

  36. When my husband was at MD Anderson in Houston, I was reading “Furiously Happy”–and laughing out loud (which gets some strange looks in a quiet cancer center). I would love “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” (which would actually also be an appropriate title for the situation–Kindle version would be great). Just picked up your other book a week ago and am looking forward to some coloring. Thank you! (And thank you for your interview on The Hilarious World of Depression). https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/HD519QCCXKZ

(It wouldn’t let me buy the kindle version so I sent you the paperback version. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  37. Jenny,
You are beautiful. You make us more beautiful, too, by association.
I am blessed because I own my own used bookstore and I’m surrounded by books every day, all day. I don’t need any books today and I have all of yours. But it warmed my heart to read this post and to play a bit of fairy-book-godmother and order for someone else.
Did I tell you how brilliant you are? You Are!

  38. http://a.co/admBpEd
I’ve spent the last 6 months recovering from a mental breakdown. I love Jenny, her blog, what she has to say. This book exchange is so wonderful.

(Looks like it’s on its way. Sending you love. ~ Jenny)

  39. I love Booksgiving! Thank you so much Jenny. I’ve done my purchase for another– so fun! I put three cookbooks on my list. Several of my immediate family are going through such stressful times and the best thing I know to do is to cook for them. I don’t want more than my share, though. If there’s only two books on my list than just know that I am the happy recipient of all that I need 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/CXHD28N7WQ5D

  40. OMG. I love that you consistently bring humor and hope to dark moments. Booksgiving has to be the best idea for a holiday ever. I’m fairly certain sending books to random strangers is actually the first step to world peace. Also, I’d comment more often if auto correct was not convinced my name is Tardis.

(Looks like your book is on the way, Tardis! 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  41. I’m so happy you’re doing this again, Jenny! Booksgiving is such an awesome idea (thank you)! 🙂
I remember reading “A Wrinkle in Time” (many) years ago in school… and I’d love to read it again and then pass it on to my book-loving daughter!

Now off to shop for one of you! 🙂

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  42. This is such a great idea, Jenny! Thank you so much for promoting this! I don’t know why I feel ashamed to put my’need’ on here, but we’re really struggling right now and it is all I can do to restrain myself from buying this book. Oh, trust me – it’s odd that I will not mind AT ALL to get someone else a Book because that is kindness, but to get this book for myself…I just can’t make the splurge! But I need this book so I can embark on an awesome, yet very confusing series I already own. This BOOK I NEED is the companion that helps you keep it all straight, so I really do need it. The book is
The World of Ice and Fire (The Untold History of Westeros and The Game of Thrones) by George R.R. Martin
My list is “A Book I Need” under Shannon White, pidge.white@gmail.com
    Thank you so very much!

(Can you comment again and link to your wishlist? Thanks! ~ Jenny)

  43. Happy Booksgiving!

I’ve heard “The Last Black Unicorn” is hilarious, and funny books are my favorite: http://a.co/b6aYEI0

(Looks like it’s on the way. Also, I’m adding that book to my own to-read list. ~ Jenny)

  44. This is the very best holiday! I’ve loved sending books in the past, but this is my first time requesting a book!

I was so excited to get ‘So You Want to Talk About Race’ by Ijeoma Oluo from the library right when it came out. Then some personal stuff come up, leaving me to return without finishing. Now the waitlist is several months long (ahh!) Would love to be able to finish the book and loan it to friends and family, as it is a truly incredible source for recognizing and examining privilege and taking action for a just and equitable future. Thank you! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/BOY5450WZYO2

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  45. I participated last year but unfortunately this year I am unable to send anything but good wishes. I lost my job 7 months due to my mental health taking a massive dip. I’m a work in progress and getting better slowly but I’m having a hard week and I’d love a pick me up. This year my list is here: http://amzn.eu/hLomBa4

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  46. This changed my life last year. Seriously. Too much to explain how it made a difference, but it really did. SO grateful to this community for their kindness last year.

I’ll be off buying books for other folks in just a moment (that really is THE BEST BIT of booksgiving), but I’ll leave this here in the meantime, just in case there’s a fellow guitar player and enthusiast out there who is all “This book is awesome, you need to read this”.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/AH0JR1BPBRZI

    Happy Booksgiving everyone!!

(Just making a note here that you’re from the UK so we can best match people. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  47. @Jamila. Tried to gift you the book but Amazon wouldn’t let me. Got this message:
“We’re sorry. This item can’t be shipped to a Wish List or gift registry address.”
Evidently a gift list book can’t be sent from a 3rd party seller.

  48. becky #132…you didn’t include your address in your wishlist. I want to send you your book! <3

  49. My favorite holiday! I have heard such good things about this author, I desperately need an escape from life right now.

(I think you forgot to add your wishlist. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  50. Hey, tribe.
this has actually been sitting in my wish list for a while. It’d berad to get it, finally. I’ve been in QUITE a place, lately, and hope this book will help me out. I just can’t bring myself to buy it for myself. I keep using it as an “earned incentive”, but I continue to move the line. Sigh…
    ANYWHO, here’s my list.

  51. I love Booksgiving. My bank account is a little emptier but my heart is full. Thank you, Jenny, for starting this tradition.

  52. I’d love a book, and my son asked for a book as well. I’d love to receive You Are Here, and he asked for Hyperbole and a Half.

  54. Oops lol Jaime the Human looks like you have 2 copies on the way then 😂😂 share it with someone else who needs a copy too ❤️

  55. I love Booksgiving! This year, I’m not in a position to give, which makes me a little sad. I had such a blast gifting last year. This last month or so has been a struggle, and a book would warm my cold, dead heart.

Next year, I am budgeting for Booksgiving early. Because it’s awesome! What better gift than a book?

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/H97THPHCTPGW

(Looks like it’s on the way. Excellent taste in books, btw. I miss her too. ~ Jenny)

  56. Nobody wanted to do secret santa last year, so…awesome!!

You know how there’s just some things that you just never get to buying for yourself? This is mine. Ordered the kids three books yesterday, but the price dropped on this one since I added it and it still just…sits on my wishlist. Why am I like this?!
    http://a.co/bXpgZjH

  57. Happy booksgiving! I just got my first ever job but I don’t get paid until the end of the month so I’ve been stuck eating ramen and watching whatever shows Hulu has to offer. I’m a real fan of cheesy horror books because they make life seem so easy in comparison. Hopefully I’ll be able to be the one giving next booksgiving! Happy holidays you beautiful weirdos.

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  59. Catherine Cooper and Tammy Eaton – Happy Booksgiving! Your book is on the way to each of you!
Love and Hugs, cuz we all could use some!!

  60. April (#203) – your book is on the way! I couldn’t believe when I checked out and saw you were from Michigan too!

  61. Greeting fellow book lovers ! I have been blessed enough to have both your books Jenny ! They have been a life saver too ! I am stuck here pretty much 24/7 due to too many damn health problems, so books are my only getaway ! Due to eyes and the option of increasing font size, I have to read on my kindle. I miss the smell of new book and being able to turn the pages…lol I am weird, I guess 🙂 My daughter and I have an on going list and it was so hard to narrow down ! But I chose 2 books and here is the list ! Thank you for looking and Happy BooksGiving !

  62. Suffering from anexity myself I had an extremely amazing time reading and colouring ( you are here) and I wrote you an email but didn’t figure were to send it( I couldn’t find an email address in the blog 😐) .. I’m looking forward to read the two other books but I Won’t add a wish list as I live in Cairo Egypt and the shipping to here is expensive.. Thank you for the lovely idea and thank you for being you 😉

(Thank you. 🙂 Ps. My email is jenny@thebloggess.com. ~ Jenny)

  63. Tammy #187 – your book is on its way!

I benefited from this last year and would love to do it again, but I am moving in a week and don’t want the chance messing with the mail. 🙁 Maybe next year!

  64. Yay booksgiving! I love buying books for others! I’m really bad at buying them for myself though! 😥

I put two on my list, because they’re a series, and due to a fluke, I bought issue 8 and 9 before 7, and now I’m stuck! And I put Volume ten on there, because it’s the series end and I’d like to finish after waiting so long. I really love this series because it inspired me to follow my dream of being an art student, and I really relate to o e of the relationships one of the girls are in. It’s a beautifully illustrated book series, I’d recommend it to anyone! This book would definitely be welcome, since my recent decision to pursue college has put new stressors in my life and is making me reevaluate who and what belongs there. ❤

  65. I don’t have money right now to buy anyone a book, but I can definitely express my appreciation, love, and gratitude for all of the “book fairies” out there! 🙂 <3

  66. I really need an escape from life right now. I’m trying very hard to deal with a narcissist ex-husband who keeps trying to poison my five year old daughter against me. I can really use some laughs and I just love your work Jenny! Here’s my list, but I can’t get the hyperlink to work. Sigh. . .

  67. Laura Ulak, your book is on the way!

Thanks for this. I’m crying, but in happy ways right now.

  68. I would love Let’s Pretend This Never Happened for my Kindle. It’s weird the Kindle edition is the most expensive. I bought Furiously Happy and can’t afford the first book right now to complete my collection. You are the best! thank you for being you!

  69. @Becky – Looking for Nightingale by Kristin Hannah – please add your address to your list and I will be happy to send you this excellent book! 🙂

  70. Amelia (#205) – I will always enable a Jane Austen enthusiast. You’ve got great taste! (And your book should be on its way!)

  71. Here’s my list! I’m in Canada, so it’s an Amazon.ca list. Happy Booksgiving everyone! you’re all amazing and wonderful people.

    http://a.co/2lgugll

It’s “Unf*ck Your Habitat”. This is a book about how sometimes mental illness or other issues can stop you from creating a clean and organized space and how to make it better without making yourself more crazy.

  72. After 6 weeks of respiratory illness piled on top of Young Onset Parkinson’s (which is piling on the depression and anxiety), I am so tired…right now, this is the book I think I need most: The Well of Being: A Children’s Book for Adults…thank you Jenny for the laughter and courage…I need a role model for surviving and thriving in spite of everything in the worst way…

    Elizabeth Michelle

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  73. Suffering from anexity myself I had an extremely amazing time reading and colouring ( you are here) and I wrote you an email but couldn’t figure out where to send it as I couldn’t find an email in the blog 😐 I’m looking forward to read the two other books..
Thank you for the lovely idea 😄

  74. Aww! Thank you, Elizabeth!! (209) It’s funny; we’re not originally from Michigan. We moved here two years ago for my husband’s job. However, the book that I sent is going to a woman that lives in the neighboring town to the one that I grew up in in Florida! It really is a small world!

  75. cher, #238 – Your wish is my command! Enjoy your book and good luck with your studies!

  76. Beautiful Jenny this is so wonderful, thank you! I’ve recently had a baby and struggled a lot with antenatal and postnatal anxiety. I dive into your books head first and they got me through sommuchin this new scary wonderful period in my life. So my book wish is for my beautiful baby girl, so she will grow up knowing that the world is beautiful and people are kind.

Hello. Please take a look at this list: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/wishlist/3LIBCEG7D0U9I

(Sending you so much love. And adding a note here that you’re in the UK so that another UK person can find you. ~ Jenny)

  77. Maria (#222) – I hope you and your mini enjoy your Binky adventure! Happy Booksgiving!

  78. Booksgiiving made a big difference to me last year. I was so thrilled to get a copy of Ridiculously Happy and to be able to gift one of my favorite books to a stranger/friend.
This year I’m requesting a Kindle edition of No One Cares About Crazy People, a fact I know first – hand. I’ve been wanting it since it was published, at $14.99, it was too expensive to buy for myself (cue mental block about thinking you don’t deserve to spend money on yourself when you’re obviously worthless), and my library doesn’t have it.

(You are totally worth it. But I can’t figure out how to buy kindle copies for other people. I suck. ~ Jenny)

  79. This is the nicest thing I’ve ever heard about. I’ve loved reading your books, and I’m excited to send someone a book they really want!

I’ve add Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward to my list. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book. http://a.co/7ZJoMYK

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  80. Money’s tight because of medical bills, or I’d be buying everyone books. And I have Jenny’s books already, but this one, I feel like I need to read, but can’t afford…

    http://a.co/3pKC5dh

(Looks like it’s on the way already! ~ Jenny)

  81. Sometimes genius is mistaken for madness…just sayin’.

    Sent from my iPad

    >

  82. I don’t think you can gift Kindle books this way – you have to know the person’s Kindle-linked email address to send as a gift.

    (Good to know. ~ Jenny)

  83. I love this! I have two books on my list, one for me and one for my daughter. I would be so grateful for either one. I’m going to see if I can send a book to someone as well. I think this is going to make my week! Thanks so much for even considering my list. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1HHEEP4RDV752

(Looks like they’re on the way! ~ Jenny)

  84. This is the most amazing idea ever! My mother taught me how important literature is from a very young age! Thank you for starting this and for sharing your awesomeness!
You are an inspiration 💕 keep writing ✍🏻 I too suffer from depression, so thank you! I need to buy all of your books! I didn’t realize you had 3!!

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  85. This is the best holiday ever! I am asking for a copy of a book that was recommended to me after reading all of YOUR books! Depression and other magic tricks. I also have a book in my list for my kids! they have read all the Dorothy must die books and now they really want the stories that go with the set! http://a.co/ejLDx0V

  86. @heather #208 – something special is flying your way this week!!!! <3

  87. Oh my goodness! I just had so much fun buying books for people 😀 I hope you all enjoy!!! Great idea Jenny ❤

  88. So, last August I had to have a total hysterectomy. I have been an emotional Rollercoaster ever since. Right after that my husband got laid off and started a job that was a significant pay cut. Needless to say with a 7 person family it has been rough. We are finally getting back on our feet. I would love to have a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened to complete my Jenny Lawson collection. Thank you so much.
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3C4C33L15DKLD/

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  89. Such an awesome idea! Do I have to give and receive Lawson books only? Am I allowed to trade my collection of nasal hairs taped to pieces of college-ruled paper?

badparentingweb recently posted something that won major awards (probably), which means you should check it on out there: https://badparentingweb.wordpress.com/2018/02/02/the-case-for-daycare/

(You can ask for or give anything. No nasal hairs necessary unless you’re feeling generous and find someone with a fetish. ~ Jenny)

  90. It’s been a bit of a shitty year so far, and I could really use the escape. Between health issues, mental shenanigans, a friendship-roommateship falling apart, and grad school generally sucking, I need a bit of happy in my life. Thanks in advance!

    http://a.co/ehnjnue

(I think people can’t buy kindle editions unless they have your kindle email. Can you change to a physical book? ~ Jenny)

  91. #206 and anyone else with kindle request you have to post your email address in the message to receive books. I am a kindle reader so I would love to gift what I can to those in need.

  92. Elizabeth (#190) I tried to send you your wish but your address wasn’t linked. See if you can fix it so we can send you something!! 🙂

  93. You people are FAST! I keep trying and either books are already sent, or the ones that aren’t are because people didn’t choose to enter their address. I’ve tried several and they would only come to me. Can ya’ll fix that so we can send you books?

  94. OOPS. I accidentally posted the link to my permanent (very long) list of wanted books. I have now deleted all except for one each for my husband and I. I apologize for looking greedy.

  95. here is my one book I would love..
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/23L2IXZSYUXK9

I’m sending Misty of Chincoteague plus some other well loved children’s books to a friend in Kentucky because she made me some amazing candy and she’s never read that book, and I want to instill the horse crazy in a child (I don’t have kids, but I need to pass on some of my crazy non genetically)

(Looks like it’s on the way already! ~ Jenny)

  96. I love this. A book has been sent. A few people’s link’s don’t have shipping addresses – make sure you add one!

  97. http://a.co/eLCfkMi

Love this! Jenny, your books helped me so much through difficult times in my life. 🙂

Crystal 186 and Elizabeth 190 – I don’t think you have shipping addresses in your lists.

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  98. I have been having a really tough time starting this year out and am having a hard time seeing the light past the cloud hanging over me. Books are my escape and I have been wanting to read Neil Gaimon’s American Gods since the Starz adaption. I would so appreciate anyone that is able to help. Thank you and Happy Booksgiving!
    http://a.co/cG7ZBTy

(Sending you love. Also, I love that book. Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  99. I can’t tell if this worked when I tried to post before…
    http://a.co/eNjMkAF

Thank you, Jenny! I love this. Your books have been so helpful to me!

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  100. KINDLE BOOK REQUESTERS – you need to either provide your email address in the post or in the notes of the book list place your email address.

  101. This might be the most awesomest thing I’ve seen. This makes me even extra happy I’ve recently discovered your delightful craziness that makes me feel less alone!!! I own both audio and print of Furiously Happy, audio of Let’s Pretend this Never Happened (currently listening to it, & still need to own that print), but I’d LOVE You Are Here for general life purposes and for vacation coming up – it seems like something that I could definitely use! 🙂 Now I’m off to see if I can buy one for someone else! The few I clicked on were already taken. Woo-hoo for the book giving going on!

    A Book I Need 🙂
    Link: http://a.co/1M1bAHN
    (Hopefully that all works okay!)

(Looks like it’s on its way! ~Jenny)

  102. This is my first Booksgiving! I already got to play book fairy for someone else, and that’s honestly the highlight of my week. I love surprising people, so thanks to Jenny for continuing this tradition! (And for just being a general beacon of hilarious light to so many of us suffering from mental health issues. Really, I can’t say thank you enough.) I just started grad school, which has been a difficult journey due to my severe anxiety and bits of remaining depression. I would appreciate a good escape now and then in the form of some short stories. Thank you and a million hugs (or a handshake if hugs aren’t your thing) to whomever might buy this book for me. Y’all are truly special. http://a.co/4BNhWtC

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  103. I put a book I need for a course I’m wanting to take (I applied for a scholarship and am saving up money for it in case the scholarship doesn’t come through). There are a few books for the course as well as other expenses and this would be a huge help plus an emotional boost while I wait to see if the scholarship comes through.

I also added a book for my son. He loves Harry Potter and got the 1st illustrated book for the holidays (he can’t read yet) and is looking forward to seeing pictures of his favorite movie character Dobby in book 2. I’d be happy if this was the only one we got for this special gift giving holiday – if you want to give but feel torn on which to get.
    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/18JJU4HTN27WV
    Thank you so much.

(Looks like they’re on the way! ~ Jenny)

  104. @cornishcastle ACK! i knew i forgot something! i added my address to my list. 🙂

  105. This makes me so happy! Off to booksgive to someone (Is that a verb? If not, it is now! Blam!) as soon as I’m done typing this.

I literally just found out that my grandma died as I was reading this post, and weirdly, maybe, reading about death helps me process it, so I would love a copy of Caitlin Doughty’s From Here to Eternity, which looks at different cultures’ approaches to treating the dead with dignity. If I’m gonna have to grapple with mortality this week, I might as well do it armed with books!

    http://a.co/gc4BcsV

(I’m so sorry. Sending you love. That book is amazing and it looks like someone has already sent it to you. ~ Jenny)

  106. I’ve been letting depression get the best of me this week and could definitely use a pick-me-up. I don’t really read many physical books anymore, so I put an eBook on my list and included my Kindle email address in the notes.

    http://a.co/ebbKdzP

Thank you, Jenny, for organizing this. It feels good to give a book or two and help someone else out as well as the potential of receiving a book. You have the best ideas!

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  107. Struggling with my request for a Kindle ebook. Thanks for pointing it out.
The book I requested is No One Cares About Crazy People.
    Original post is #256

  108. 315 (Laini Taylor is A.MAY.ZING) & 316 – your books are on your way! 🙂 I hope they bring some happiness your way!!! 🙂

  109. Nicole (comment 113), Thomas (comment 138), and karmicallyscripted (comment 281) – your books are on the way! Enjoy!! 😀

  110. I would love Let’s Pretend it Never Happened

(I think you forgot to add your wishlist. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  111. yay! here is the list for my kids and I! I dont own a copy of furiously happy! and my kids LOVE to read and would love these books they are 12 and 3 and LOVE to read!

    http://a.co/5s0byK0

  112. I didn’t know this was a thing, thank you so much for hosting an event like this, Jenny! I’ve been struggling with my mental health a lot this year and something like this really helps. Id love to get a copy of “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” because it seems like the perfect campy, 80s horror-style read to take my mind off things for a while. Thank you so much! ❤️

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  113. Damn, i can’t think of a book i need right now…. probably a good thing because i’m in a depression and nothing is fun right now, can’t concentrate to read anyway. Sadness. The last book i desperately wanted i got for myself with last year’s B&N gift card.

I’m glad ya’ll are having so much fun with Booksgiving!!!!!!

(You are not alone, my friend. Sending love. ~ Jenny)

  114. Kate Sullivan your book is on the way. From one Sullivan to another, enjoy. Hope your pup feels better soon.

  115. Oh and i had 5 1/2 hrs of neurocognitivepsych testing today. All i want is ice cream!!!!!

  116. Sue #338 I would love to gift you that book for escapism. I’ve heard good things about it but for kindle you either need to provide your email address here or in the notes of the wish list.

  117. You are beyond amazing! Because of this, not only was I able to give some really cool books, bt received one as well. I have all your books, love them and you to pieces. All the good and not so good ones. Its been a hell of a few weeks for me, just getting through finding out I have 2 more rare spinal conditions, and apparently they’ve never seen this happen before. Its bad enough I win Twister just by walking in the room. But it just makes me stronger, or shorter, or both.
Thank you again for the amazeballs unicorntasticness you bring every day

  118. I have a very large ‘to be read’ shelf. So this book would be for my son. He has been saving up to buy the Gravity Falls Journal 3 from B&N where it is $20. He saved for months. (His allowance is tied to him actually doing chores. Yeah, I’m that kind of monster….) Anyway, one of his friends was having a birthday party and instead of gifts, he asked for donations to a charity that helps children born with a club-foot get it repaired. My son gave that charity ALL of his money. He had finally earned enough to buy his book and we were going to go to the store after the party and he just shrugged it off saying he thought the charity was ‘more important’. (Cue the tears, y’all!) I must be doing something right and he deserves to be rewarded for realizing that his hard work can be put towards something greater than himself. Did I mention he’s only 8? Most adults still aren’t there yet!
Anyway, here’s the link and thank you in advance:
    http://a.co/dv6OX5i

(I love him. And looks like it’s already on the way. ~ Jenny)

  119. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love booksgiving and how much joy it has brought me before..
At the moment i’m in the middle of EMDR sessions, therapy twice a week and I joined a grief after sucicide support group.
Probably is all going to help me in some way, some day, but MAN is it fucking hard and upsetting and horrific…

Books, even if I have the focus of a 2 year old on a sugar high, a life saviours, really..

Anyway who would be willing to give me one…I love you.
I do live in the Netherlands, so if you find postage to high and decide to pick someone else; I love you too.

    I love this place.
    xxxx Tamar

(I’m sending you so much love. I wish it wasn’t so expensive to ship to the Netherlands because I would totally send you a book. ~ Jenny)

  120. I didnt realize it was so hard to send kindle books. Im sorry ! Ms Jenny, can you just delete my post ? I looked and mine isnt available in large print and hers is too much for a paperback ! Thank you ! #214

(Actually, smarter people than me pointed out that you can buy a kindle book if you have the persons email so go back into your wishlist and put your kindle email address in the notes. ~ Jenny)

  121. I don’t need any books because I’m a compulsive used book buyer and have more that I’ll probably finish in my lifetime. But am digging The Faithful and the Fallen series by John Gwynn in case anyone is looking for recommendations.

  122. I’m having a really rough month with finances. Already lol. I would love a book to take my mind off of all the financial crap swirling in my brain right now. I have picked one book for me and I have two kids, a 2 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. If you’d like to get them a book I put one on for each. I sing Forever Young to my daughter all the time and I’ve been eyeing the book up for her for a while and it seems I’ve raised an Obama loving 7 year old son. Doesn’t get that from mom or anything. I know he would adore the Of Thee I Sing book. Thank you so much! So very grateful for seeing this today!

  123. Y’all. I love this so much! I can’t stop buying books for people!! #furiouslyhappy THANK YOU, JENNY!!!

  124. Julie #214/372 please go into the notes of our wishlist and add your email address and I will send those books to you and your daughter

  125. I’d absolutely love Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton. I’m trying to read as much non-fiction as humanly possible at the moment with a view to writing a book (I’ve also devoured everything of Jenny’s twice!). The advice is always to read as much as you can. But this has only just come out and my local library couldn’t tell me if or when it might come in. I’m in the UK 🙂

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/D05E8FBZJI8L

  126. This is all SUPER DUPER sweet, and I am taken aback by the amount of people that love reading as much as I do. This book is for my friend Heidi, who lives in Australia. She has battled depression for the last few years and has found Let’s Pretend This Never Happened to be a significant source of joy. It has even inspired her to write a memoir of her own. Unfortunately, I am a student, and as such cannot afford to purchase this for her, but I know she would love to have it when she comes home in April. You are all so lovely and I am elated to see all of the support that takes place in this forum. xoxoxox

  127. Thanks, Kelly #353!! I’m so excited–I really appreciate it! You brightened my day.

  128. As a teacher, this is one of the best days of the year! Two years ago you were all able to help me with a variety of books about students who are struggling with their gender and middle school. Not only did I read the books, but so did a large number of my colleagues and eventually many students.

This year I have books that are diverse and high interest for my students on the list. And a book for me as well! Thank you all for the joy of today! For being a giver and for being open to a gift. We need more of this!

    http://a.co/87gGAco

  129. Ly G #298 Your second book is on it’s way to your girls! Hug them for me as you read it to them! This made my day!!!!

  130. To Jessica #397 –
    Happiest of Booksgivings to you!
    🌻
    From Coriander

  131. I would like to help family get books that they would like to read! I added a book my mom had on her christmas list that she didnt get. I also added books to the list for my little sisters. I also added one for me. That you Jenny this is such a cool idea!

    http://a.co/j5ErXIP

  132. THANK YOU, JENNY! And to whoever bought the science experiment book for my Ro, THANK YOU, TOO!

  133. Hey y’all – so, my daughter who is a lovely young lady, just moved halfway across the country from where she was living (a tiny little town) and had to part from her best friend/boyfriend and is, understandably, pretty down.

There are 2 books on the list because I couldn’t decide which she needs more but just choose ONE if you choose to ‘booksgiving’ her.

I’m asking y’all because she’s feeling pretty alone in the world and having Mom’s support is one thing, knowing that there are good people who care out in the world is another.

    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/giftlist/1Y5EGLFGNV3IO/ref=cm_gl_huc_view

    Thanks for sharing the love.

  134. Jenny, you are awesome, and stuff, but dear god LEAVE SOME BOOKS FOR US TO BUY 😉 I can’t wait to trawl through all of these lists and find some new reading material, as well as buy something for someone!!

  135. I have told the tale of Jean Louise many times. And since I live in Florida, most people here, when hearing the story, nod sagely and only ask “Are you sure it didn’t happen here?”. As we are the state who provides many odd stories (“Florida Man Goes to Pet Store, Shoves Exotic Fish Down His Pants”) that make others think “Well, at least I’m not that screwed up.” And so it has happened that my copy of “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” has been borrowed, so to share the shanty of J. L., but alas never to be returned. I am requesting a new copy so that I may let Floridians know that they are not alone in their love of stuffed alligators. And of course it would be wearing pirate garb – this is Florida.

(Just sent you a copy of Let’s Pretend! ~ Jenny)

  136. I love Booksgiving day!!! I usually give but this year is hard and I have been hit with the depression stick again and again. Anytime I think I can see the light I get smacked in the face all over. I would just like I little happy in the mail to help remind me that I exist outside of my own mind.
    Thanks,

    https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/382E7P51HCIRY?&sort=default

There are 2 books one is a digital copy of a “Rising Darkness” book. The series is great. Murder mystery with demons and a not all demon worshipers are bad heroine.

The other is by one of my favorite YA authors. “The Trials of Apollo” great for escaping into a book with the friends that live there and learning about mythological figures.

  137. I would love to have a copy of this..

(I sent you a copy of Let’s Pretend but I deleted your wishlist because your address was in your notes. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  138. I’m getting ready to move to San Francisco and I really need something to take my mind off all the scary changes. I will also be participating by buying a book for someone. I selected the Kindle edition so it can be sent to my Kindle instead of a physical book being mailed to me. Here is the book I would like to get: http://a.co/dFNuSg3

  139. I’m #242, thought I’d share my kids came home from school and asked me what I was doing, and together we have been through SOOO many book lists trying to find kids to buy for. I hope you don’t mind I included books for them on my Booksgiving list. They had a BLAST buying a wish for someone we don’t know. http://a.co/4uJIWRK

  140. ack! I tried editing my reply but EH. I don’t know how that works any more!

My oldest is going in the mental hospital next month and I put a couple books in for him to have on hand, as well as a couple books I need to figure out how to help him when he gets out. I am in Germany, so idk if I have to be paired with someone or how it works exactly. thanks!

  141. I LOVE Booksgiving! Such a great way to spend an afternoon. Books on their way to Elizabeth (#190), Elizabeth (#201), Lesley (#233), Sonja (#364), and Jacqueline (can’t find your post and number, mi amiga brasileira)! Followed my same rules from last year: shared at least one of each of Jenny’s books, used up my “free” cash on hand on my Amazon Prime visa, and mined other people’s lists for a recommendation for my own list.

Keep spreading the love and laughter, you wonderful community. 🙂

  142. Oh my. Um, I have had a really rough month (anniversary of a friend’s suicide, changing the furniture in our house which I know sounds stupid, but I’m autistic and this is really overwhelming me, having… issues with a family member who is repeatedly insensitive to my disabilities, trying to find a job because I’m currently out of work due to said disabilities). Um.

Anyway, there is a book about trauma that I would like if anyone is able. I’m in Canada, though, and the screen in Amazon looks different. I don’t know how to set up a wish list because I’m not sure which options to check.

Is there anyone who could tell me how to set up the wish list for this? BTW, it isn’t urgent or needed or anything, so if someone is more in need, please help them instead. Thank you for starting this, Jenny, and I think all of you who are participating and helping others are super. 🙂

  143. Msdarkstar
I sent Mystie a copy of Adulthood is a Myth because I enjoyed it so much. Btw, I’m 56. Lol.

  144. Thank you so much for Booksgiving! I love participating in this tradition. This year, I don’t need anything for myself, but my mom and my aunt could really use a pick-me-up.

    http://a.co/6PYoxDK

  145. To Fiona #103 – expect a parcel very soon! Seems like we’re the only ones from Germany so far! ^_^

  146. This is amazing, I saw this book at Barnes & Noble, started reading and really wanted but not enough cash to purchase and now…I just might get a copy, woohoo!

  147. Oh yay!!! My whole family loves to read. These short reads get me thru all of my doctors appts for breast cancer treatment. Mindless enjoyment💜💜💜

  148. Another Jenny fan from Canada here! Booksgiving is AWESOME!
JENNY IS AWESOME! (I feel like I’m preaching to the choir here, but it’s worth saying again!)
Last year, getting a booksgiving book was my February highlight. This year I can return the favor to a fellow Canadian!
My list has a “cheat” – an audiobook on cd of a favorite story, beautifully read (I borrowed it once)… but also a paperback I could use if the cd book doesn’t count 😉

I’ll be back later to find a Canadian to treat! ~Terry (aka “seethepeanut” – not as interesting as it sounds, haha)

  149. Dear #12 aka celebrinthil, I am so sorry, I bought this and it downloaded to my kindle, yours wasn’t an option. Gah! It does sound interesting. I will keep looking to see if you post again and in the mean time I will read this and think of you. I wish you well.

  150. I’ve been dying to read Feast of Sorrow (not as gloomy as it sounds — it’s a food-based novel about ancient Rome) forever but somehow never manage to actually buy it. Stupid life is stupid expensive and I am also stupid forgetful. I have it on a wishlist here (http://a.co/2Y6KTZR) and I’ve sent a couple of books to other people — this is such a cheerful thing during a really shitty week!

  151. Jenny, I clicked on a wish list and it was for a digital book but the only options for delivery were to my own devices. :\ Unsure how to handle that scenario. Any tips?

  152. Dear #12, I tried to get your book for you but your kindle was not listed.I am so very sorry. It looks very interesting so, I thank you for the recommendation. I wish you the best. Please try to list again.

  153. @janet they have to provide you an email address either in the comments or their notes.. If no email address provided you can’t send. If there is an email provided after selecting “see all buying options” Select “give as gift” and then enter the email address they provided.

  154. Thank you all for being so awesome! I haven’t been able to afford You Are Here, so that’ll be going onto my list. Hope next year I’ll be able to send others books, this such a fantastic thing!
    http://a.co/fACQpCO

  155. #479 Incoming!! Thank you for asking; your book should be arriving soon. Cheers!

  156. I don’t think my original post went through. Oh well. What a great idea this is! Jenny, your book has been on my list for a loooong time :)https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2R1G1PGEJVPWE?&sort=default

  157. YAY! We participated last year and it was awesome.

I’ve been meaning to read Samantha Irby’s new book, “We are Never Meeting in Real Life”, for months, but haven’t found the opportunity.

I also chose a book for my 7 and 8 year olds, who are finally reading well enough independently for such things and LOVE to imagine visiting outer space– “Zita the Spacegirl”.

    http://a.co/8VhdLTr

Now I’m off to buy books for someone else 🙂

  158. I’d like to gift more books but since I don’t have a credit card it seems I can only buy books for people also located in Germany. 🙁 Unless anyone knows a way around this, I’ll keep my eyes peeled to see if any more Germans pop up on here! I love this day and seeing everyone being exxcited about it! :3
    https://www.amazon.de/gp/registry/wishlist/180AP6HQM4T9

  159. Oops I got so click happy that I forgot to keep track of who I bought books for – wheeeee!
So according to my Amazon order details – Sarah is getting “Truly Devious”; Emily is getting “Unwomanly Face of War”; and Ashley is getting “Dorothy Must Die Vol 2”. Looks like they are arriving on Thursday or Friday so plenty of time for weekend reading!!

  160. Wendy #65, Furiously Happy on its way! Holly #160, your book won’t ship to a gift registry address (it’s from a third party seller). Anonymous #165, three books on the way! I love Booksgiving!

  161. I love this idea.
I hope coloring books count for Booksgiving. My daughter is having a rough patch in her fight with depression. We bond through coloring. This is one coloring book she’s had her eye on for a while…

    http://a.co/1TINHtP

  162. Holy shit! I just thought to myself “hey, it’s about the time of year for booksgiving, I’ll go check just in case” AND IT’S TODAY.

I got 2 wonderful books last year from 2 wonderful strangers, and I had so much fun reading both. I also had fun adding dozens of suggestions to my “want to red” list. I think my favorite book this event introduced me to last year was A Man Called Over. You’ve all got good taste, I must say.

I have a lot of books in my pile right now so not asking for anything this year, but I’m looking forward to filling a few requests! YAAAAAY BOOKS!

  163. Hey loves!! I’m so happy we have this happening again. I was just thinking about it today too. I haven’t been too active her mostly because of work and school. But I got that dream job at a library!!! Which means I can help bring people joy of books during this booksgiving. My depression/anxiety is still a mess. My chronic illness which has been pretty good until now is acting up again, leaving me in a lot of pain right now. I can relate far too much to Jenny for more reasons then ever lately because of it. Here’s my list. Love you guys. You keep me trying to be positive despite everything.

    http://a.co/d5f396G

  164. Jasmine D – coloring book is on the way – should be there Friday – enjoy quality coloring/snuggling time!

  165. I hope I’m not too late. This is such an amazing thing to do! I have a son with Autism and we loved the movie Wonder. I’d love to get him the workbook and a fiction book about a boy with Autism. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/14CACDBUL71S I’m so grateful for anything!

(I just sent you one. I loved that book. ~ Jenny)

  166. I feel very awkward asking for a book. I know that for me, giving books brings me great joy. This book would be for me and my husband to read to each other on the way to work as we carpool and work together. We usually dread going to work and so it is nice to read to each other as a distraction.
    https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/327AY7CMCY7CK

(Looks like it’s already on the way! ~ Jenny)

  167. I added 2 books to my wishlist but I would love anyone’s favorite motivational book suggestions really. I go for knee surgery #4 this week and the last one was really hard to recover from mentally and emotionally. I could use some great positive reading!
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3B01VXP30LEP

(Sending you love. And a book. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  168. I love this, but i’ve been very spoiled this year already by being sent a very expensive and very beautiful doll by a total stranger. Now I feel this need to pay it forward, though i’m also broke so that’s proving a bit difficult. Still, in the spirit of this, I have a pile of secondhand books that need rehoming so I think i’m gonna hike on down to the charity shops tomorrow and donate some good ones. Good luck everyone! Happy reading!

And to all those struggling, just know, you aren’t alone. You are loved and you are important, you are awesome. Somewhere out there, there’s someone who cares about you. Cling to that, remember that, and tell that troll in your brain to go fuck itself.

  169. Monica (535) your books should be there on Friday, I hope you will enjoy them together 🙂

  170. Jenny & everyone who buys books, thank you for doing this. I’ve been in and out of the doctor’s office for the past 4 months trying to get a handle on my anxiety (causing even more anxiety!). I would love a book to help me escape when it flares up at night because jerkbrain just loves 2-3am. Really looking forward to the day when I can be the one who buys the books!

    https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1EDN7G4VW2Z5J

  171. How exciting this is my 1st Booksgiving! I can’t wait to send someone a book, and maybe receive one too. What an incredible idea! If someone chooses me – thank you so much in advance!! Here is my book please. 🙂 http://a.co/awAoPAW

  172. Janet #517 Thank you thank you thank you! I saw your note and started crying at my desk!

Also I bought a book for someone in Abbotsford but I didn’t take note of their name on here or comment number, but happy reading!
Jenny this is the best holiday and this community you have created is full of the best people!!

  173. PS I cut down my list. I’m making a different list for my birthday/future buys. Because it was way too long. I’d love just one or two, if any. I’m happy just buying you guys what I can.

  174. Bless you Jennie and bless the Blogesses who buy books for strangers! This is now my official best-est holiday. Happy Booksgiving! I’m off to get a book for someone and if I can figure out the instructions maybe I’ll post a plea for myself, but I’m pretty technically challenged. I blow stuff up.

  175. I received an unexpected bonus last Friday, and I’ve been having fun sharing the love–I’m so glad I could participate again this year!
I’m putting up a list for myself now, and I’m breaking the rules a bit by asking for two books. I don’t buy many books for myself, but there are two books in this series that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time, and it will drive me to distraction not to be able to immediately read the second after finishing the first. I’m a bit odd like that, and don’t usually start series until they have ended so I can binge all at once. Many thanks to anyone who may want to send one!
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/5K39H8TYH4JG/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

  176. I’m back to university (at 42) and need to break the chain of textbooks! Reading was the first thing to go out of my life when I started studying again. I struggle with anxiety big time (think hospital), and this is putting it off the charts. I need to bring back the balance. My book budget currently all goes towards engineering books… https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/23GVECKSCWXPI?&sort=default

  177. Caroline #548, I got ya covered. Good luck with the anxiety, I hear you, I support you.

  178. With the year I have had, the link above is to the only book that makes any sense to me at all and provides so much comfort, understanding and support. Thank you Jenny for being you!

  179. Caroline–comment 548, your book is on its way! I hope it eases your troubles.

  180. Hi,

Thank you, Jenny!! What a great tradition! I am asking for any Jenny Lawson book. I recently discovered your books and need to buy them all. I borrowed Let’s Pretend this Never Happenened from the library but know it will be the perfect pick me up anytime. All your books need a spot on my bookshelf! 🙂

  183. Jessica #463 – I’m sorry I couldn’t fill your whole list but one is on the way for your family. Hopefully the others will get one too,

  184. Shannon (378) I would love to get the book for your son, but it appears you don’t have an address linked to your wishlist. Could you update it? 🙂

  185. Got your back, onecrazykid!

Jessica (463) the other two books are on their way as well.

    Teamwork makes the dream work!

  186. Thanks so much for doing this, Jenny! It’s so uplifting to see everyone’s comments and to see so many empty wish lists.
I’ve added a couple of books to my list, one for myself and one for my daughter. Thank you so much, I appreciate it like you wouldn’t believe.

    (I’m in Canada)
    https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/H5KYKT5R717F/

  187. I really hope one of these years I can be the giver instead of the recipient, but I’m currently having a super high anxiety day because i”m trying to figure out how I’m going to afford $465 every month for health insurance when I was barely managing to pay my bills on my income before, and my husband’s new job doesn’t offer insurance for spouses. (Wow, that’s an impressive run-on sentence even for me.)

Anyway, I could really use something to distract me, and books and knitting (and crochet) are my two go-tos for stress relief and distraction, so I figured why not a knitting book? So if anyone would like to help out a fellow crafter in dire need of a little love from the universe right now, I would be more grateful than I can possibly express.

    http://a.co/dOo2K6N

  188. I don’t know if you can see this Jenny but I first picked let’s pretend this never happened on audible just for fun. But I never knew what an impact it would have on me. I learned that I wasn’t alone, and that even though I am broken, there are many ways to find a little sunshine in an really bad rainstorm. I listen to both of your books when the days get really bad. I know that this has nothing to do with this post, sorry. But thank you, it has saved the little sanity I have left.I hope to get your latest book soon so I can complete the collection. Never stop being you.

  189. Ack… I hope this doesn’t post twice, I couldn’t remember my Word Press password.

I LOVE Booksgiving! It is my favorite part of February. Our family just moved from Colorado to North Carolina for my husband’s work. It’s hard. I miss my parents (wah!) It’s been really hard on my kids, they’ve been lonely. (me too) But we’re trying to embrace the experience and keep adventure in our hearts. We’re trying to make friends. Here is my list, mostly for the kids, but I’m indecisive and want to get giving. Is anyone moderating the list? I just saw that Booksgiving started. I’m happy to help!

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1OA4FOFIIC4DT?&sort=default

  190. I loved this book as a child and want to share it with my son. A lot of my favorite books when I was little are long gone and most cannot be replaced. I was thrilled to find this on Amazon and I would love someone to pieces for this gift.

    http://a.co/ghwwbPZ

  191. Happy Booksgiving Tribe! So, last night,I was in full blown anxiety attack, drowning in one of those all-encompassing waves of grief, curled up in a ball crying so hard I could barely catch my breath, kind of things. The beautiful universe knows just how to take care of us, because today is Booksgiving and I could really use this book to help me calm down when the anxiety and depression and self doubt take over. Thank you all for being alive. You matter more than you know!
Hi. Check out this list: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/PTS86SVIT6TI

  192. Lisa #614 books are on the way! Happy Booksgiving from one Canadian mom to another.

  193. @LouiseK #642: What a day! My brain is a mess? Thanks for letting me know. I have updated 😀

  194. @LouiseK – oh my word! I’m crying like the hot mess I am. Thank you so much! Where are you located? Can you link your list? My heart is so full.

  195. I have trouble with technology, especially Timmy phone keyboards, so I’mma try this again..
The most wonderful time of the year! I would love to read lab girl.

  196. I feel weird saying this but it’s been a rough go lately. So I guess I fall into the ‘exist and matter’ category. I’s been hard to remember that I do so if anyone sees this it would be greatly appreciated. And someday when things are better I will gladly pay it forward.

Hi. Check out this list: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2O5I38RD9ZV2M

  197. I hooked up 2 of you!
Cam and Michelle, your books have been purchased! Happy Booksgiving Everyone!

  198. Adrienne #667, your wish list doesn’t come up. It takes me to mine. Maybe doublecheck?

  199. Melissa Bennett, I can see your list, but it doesn’t bring up an address for you.

  200. You’re welcome, CB! I work in a library, so I get to read all the books I want, so I didn’t have a list for myself. Being able to gift books to others is what makes me happy, and I’m so grateful to Jenny for giving me the opportunity to do this. Happy reading!

  201. You’re an amazing soul LouiseK. Thank you so so much. Sending love from Halifax NS

  202. K. L. J. (#671) – your books are on the way! I hope you find some relief and can get back on the floor with your kids soon!

  203. My husband and I haven’t been well, however reading out loud to each other has really helped. I would love to read “The Woman in the Window” to him as we both love psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators, esp during the winter when it gets dark so early! TY to everyone!

    https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/IKRZPG8JOM56

  204. Shannon (378 & 677) yay I’m glad you got the addresses sorted! The book for your son is on its way 🙂

  205. I need to go to bed. I have to drive to Virginia in the morning. I consolidated the list up to 500, but that took a couple of hours. I was hoping I’d get up to at least where I first posted in the 600s but I just can’t do it. Must sleep. Zzzz. Must give a book before bed though. Darcy M, “Saga” is heading your way. #271! Happy Booksgiving everyone!

  206. I can’t ever afford new books so these are some that have been on my wishlist forever. Thank you to those who love to spread the joy of reading!! (I put a few books on this list because I couldn’t pick just one! These are all something I’d be super excited to get! Thank you again!!)

Hi. Check out this list: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/8RHJVN6PDCLR

  207. Jenny you are incredible! “You magnificent bastard, I’d follow you anywhere!” I really need to cut back on Netflix. Anyway my Kindle is at the bursting point, so I’m going to give Furiously Happy to 5 people I know that will appreciate your glorious oddness! I’m hoping they will be able to join our community of the slightly off center. This is such a wonderful thing you’ve created. Thank You so much!

  208. What a lovely idea is booksgiving! Below is my wishlist. (:
My booksgiving list ( my name is Nicole

    Link: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2O6ASN1OBBBY5

  209. Oops, I think Jenny needs to authorize the big list up there because it has so many links… after that maybe someone can nab it and moderate for the night.

  210. Heather Little, your book is on the way. I can’t imagine you will ever find pure peace again but know that you are not alone. I will carry you in my heart forever. And peace to all who loved your son.

  211. Wow! That’s very cool. Thank you! I just did it and hopefully right. I’m going to go buy someone else a book right now.
What an amazing way to give back. Hugs Jenny. Thanks for being part of my journey

  212. What a great idea. I could really use an escape. My husband has been unemployed since the end of August, my mom just had a radical mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer, and I just had to borrow $12 from my oldest daughter so I could pay a bill. Hopefully next year I will be able to be the giver. Thank you.
    http://a.co/eHrPsXO

  213. My name is Tom and I love this idea so much! I have gone through and filled some peoples wish! I asked the kids in my sons Anxiety group ( 12 -15 yr olds ) what their 1 book is they would want. Some agreed on exchanging books if They where purchased for them so theae booka could go to several kids! I figured it was worth a try to see ofni could get their wishea filled! Thank you Jenny for this amazing holiday I am so glad i could help fill a few!

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/B017DTFR15OY

  214. @colleend2 i wanted to return the favor but i think you need to add your address…

  215. The best holiday ever. I have a reason to send strangers books and when my husband asks wtf I’m doing I can yell IT’S A HOLIDAY WHERE IS YOUR SPIRIT OF GIVING??!? Then send more books! In all seriousness, Its been a medically stressful year(cancer, pacemaker, multiple ER visits, premie baby) and books are my way of escape. I don’t really buy them for myself but I like giving them away. I’ll add my book to keep the holiday spirit flowing.
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3ICVJSF143NWT

  216. I added one to mine, since I realized I could use some humor in the hospital. I’m so tired of bein here you guys. I am so tired of being sick. Im not giving up but man, sometimes it feels close. Anyway, if anyone is still checking, feel free to surprise me. thishttps://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/IRQMUYHGJ7BF

  217. Hey Jenny, Sorry about the mix up. I think i was able to fix it and I changed the book to a different title. I am reading about Raymond Carver in my senior seminar class. Thanks for doing what you do and promote books, life and laughter.

  218. Damn it. I screwed up my list! I moved the book I wanted and didn’t move the others to another list. I’m fixing it!

  219. Hayley (comment 269) your book should arrive by Monday, February 12th. That gives you enough time to find the perfect colored pencils, markers, crayons, or whatever you want to color with! Enjoy!

  220. Happy Booksgiving!!! I included a book for my son and daughter. This comes at the perfect time. I really need a new book to help me get out of a funk.

  221. Fellow Canadian “Chantelle K, #685″… a “turtle” is on it’s way to you!

That was so much fun and so fulfilling – I don’t even care if my list never gets looked at!
I can’t stop smiling! Thanks Jenny, and the Booksgiving community of love! Tomorrow I’ll walk a little taller from reading all of your kind posts. 🙂

    ~Terry, aka Seethepeanut

  222. Sorry if this posts twice… technical difficulties over here – among other kinds, lol…

Fellow Canadian “Chantelle K, #685″… a “turtle” is on it’s way to you!

That was so much fun and so fulfilling – I don’t even care if my earlier list never gets looked at!
I can’t stop smiling! Thanks Jenny, and the Booksgiving community of love! Tomorrow I’ll walk a little taller from reading all of your kind posts. 🙂

  223. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1KOLN8DHN2SC5 is my wishlist link, and the book is Sherry Thomas’ A Study in Scarlett Women.

I am in Australia, though… which could be an issue. But maybe it won’t be? I feel like losing myself in a new book might keep depression’s lies at bay… so thanks to Jenny for organising this, and to whoever happens to gift me a book, perchance.

  224. i LOVE this holiday! i am in a dark hole right now and having a hard time smiling. i’ve re-read your books so many times i finally bought the audio books just to hear them in your voice. “You Are Here” is a lifesaver for me! You always make me smile, Jenny. And so does Samantha Irby. I’d love to have another book of hers to take me away to a sunnier place.

And now i’m off to buy books for others!! THANK YOU for doing this!!

Have spent too much time crying lately. Distraction would be welcome, but Jenny can write only so much! Have all her books in ALL formats(no lie!) And hve run out of friends I haven’t sent copies to. Want to pay it forward -especially when Jenny’s books are on sale! Trolling comments for recipients…

  226. Holly #449 Little Fires Everywhere will be in your hands in just a couple days, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did❤️

ColleenD2-your kind words broke me in the best way humanity can. Sending you love and light. PS-your book is on backorder, it may be awhile before you get it❤️

  227. Heather Little, my mom and best friend committed suicide ( just before mother’s day) nothing is more painful than a loss to mental illnesses

  228. #763 Sent to your sis, Leah G. Hope it helps in the best possible way!…and isn’t a duplicate.

  229. Not sure who my bookangel is, but thank you for the gift of Furiously Happy! I’ll be watching my mailbox like a kid waiting for a birthday present……and glad I was able to make someone else happy,, too. Booksgiving Rocks! Thank you for a new tradition, Jenny!

  230. Hello to everyone. February is kicking me in the ass right now. And I am on my best psych melds combination ever! I think I would like this book to reframe my point of view (click here)

  231. Dixie (#763) your book is incoming.

Thank you, Jenny, for giving us this opportunity again. You’re amazing.

  232. Hi Jenny! What a beautiful idea. I live in Finland so I understand if shipping is prohibitive. I’m currently unemployed, have depression and am fighting the school system to get support for my adhd daughter, so a book full of women who dared to be different would really help both of us. This blog is a lifesaver!

  233. Jenny,
I just want to say, Thank You! This is such a cool idea. Through the telling of your stories you have given so many people hope and laughter.
    Thank you!
    L.

  234. I just found out about this. (Thank you wacky Facebook algorithms!) I’ve been dreaming about training my dog to be a PTSD/therapy dog, but keep forgetting about this book.

    http://a.co/fYsbXPy

Thank you for hosting this Jenny! Even if I’m too late for the party.

  235. I’m in vet school so I don’t really have the cash for non-school-related books, but this is one that I’ve been curious about for a long time.

    http://a.co/fwZ29Bb

It may look school related but it’s not – I have a horse I took on as a rehab project almost two years ago that I think would benefit from this.

  236. What a friggin awesome idea. I just had to return your first two books to the library, wish they’d been longer! (not in the US and it’s too early to make new wishlists before coffee, so no link for now. But I have about 100 in there if I’m modest, so just wanted to cheer everybody on, books are the best)

  237. Here is an updated list of Unfulfilled wishes through the first 300, that way no one has to henpeck. I’m hustling to keep up with the giving! Yay!

  238. Oh, I wish I could join in on things like this. Times are super hard mentally atm and I would love to have a copy of ‘Let’s pretend this never happened’. It’s the only book of you I haven’t read yet.
But I am not in the state to buy it myself, and I don’t have money to buy something for others either…. On top of all that, I don’t want to increase anyone else’s costs, as I am not even in the US so shipping is probably ridiculously expensive.

Anyway. This is the best initiative, it is beautiful and my love goes out to all the people out there purchasing books for others. You are all wonderful and thank you for making this world suck a little less.

  239. UPDATED Through 500… woof.

  240. Hey wonderful Serine23 #784 you can remove me from the list I was gifted a book and forgot to close the wishlist before I went to bed. I’m blaming that on Elon Musk <3 ( I’ve set it to private now.

  241. What a cool idea! Thank you, Jenny!

The book I am asking for is The Ancient Aliens TV Show Companion. My son and I have a great time discussing the show, so this seems like a chance for further discussion.

    Link: http://a.co/dIBA9Xo

    Thank you!

  242. http://a.co/h6GAETI
Thank you so much for hosting this Jenny. It is such a wonderful event that I look forward to every year.

As for my list, I added the kindle version of the book since I can’t carry around physical copies in my day to day life, and it means that the book goes unread because of it. Because I didn’t want anyone’s gift to get wasted, I didn’t add my address so a physical copy can’t get sent. I hope that’s okay, and no one is offended.

  243. Z3lda72 (#764), you can email me at moredibell@live.com (and Jenny, while it doesn’t matter if this email gets found and spammed, I wouldn’t object to this comment being deleted once Z3lda72 acknowledges it has been seen). I would love a physical book to hold. Thank you. 😀

  244. I may be a day late, but I just wanted to say how heart-warming it is to click on so many lists and to find them empty!

As a public school teacher in an urban district, Booksgiving means a lot to me. I’ve made new friends through this marvelous holiday, and my students are amazed every year when our library grows. I’m excited to sift through these comments and help someone else’s library grow!

    http://a.co/cfQxlHF

  245. I love that people le are still participating today! It’s too Bad we can’t narrow the list down to who hasn’t received any yet. Does booksgiving usually get extended?

  246. Dianna (#747): a hard copy is on its way to you (I didn’t buy it via Amazon US, so please remember to delete it from your wishlist). Happy Booksgiving!

  247. Words cannot express how much I love this idea!! You are such an amazing inspiration.

  248. Mom of two here (toddler and infant)! Frazzled, exhausted, and I went through my stockpile of new books while I was pumping a few months back, so I would love something new to read!

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1UN8O8QEB7DAP?&sort=default

Also, I have a dear friend who is a mom who is constantly budgeting — she recently lost her employment and her husband’s work is seasonal. A good book or two would help her immensely.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/giftlist/2TASWUZKI7J2T?ref=cm_go_nav_hz

    Thank you all so much!!

  249. This morning at the bus stop my daughter just told me that she finished her book (for the 3rd time) and hopes for another. My neighbor told me about this incredible chance so I thought I would try. I have never used amazon so I may not have done it right.
All of the kids are interested in fantasy so that is what I picked for them, I hope it is okay. I don’t know much about the genre so if anyone has alternate suggestions I would be grateful and happy to switch. They devour books so this is going to be the greatest gift you could ever give them.

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/H813NNEQVUB4

  250. I hope I’m not too late! I have a lot of anxiety lately, and really need a distraction. This book might help. It’s a kindle book, so I can read in the dark.

    http://a.co/bDYymQ5

  251. Fixed my list again. I hope this is okay! Basically my anxiety kept me up all night and told me I was being greedy. Even now I still feel weird anxious about it. Honestly, my anxiety has been on a roll lately for making me second guess everything.

    http://a.co/a2dvK3T

  252. Time for me annual Booksgiving reminder that you don’t need to be paying for shipping costs if you don’t have a prime subscription, as Amazon will give you a free one month prime trial every 12 months – just remember to CANCEL IT right away so you don’t get charged at the end of the month!

This applies to Amazon in other countries too, you can log in on localised Amazon sites (like Canada or Germany or UK etc) with the same Amazon account and have prime trials on each of them, just remember that cancellation. I save my prime trials for booksgiving now, means I can do a lot more good with my budget.

Still optimistic I might get a booksgiving book this year! Time to look at some more lists, happy booksgiving to all!

  253. So February is a crap month for me…3 our of 4 grandparents passed this month and we were close. So memories are at the surface…I have never done this, and I was scrolling through the list seeing all the people getting books and it was making me smile and cheering me up. So I’ve decided to participate!

    http://a.co/fTKsAh5

    Thanks!

  254. I’m in an accelerated bachelors nursing program. It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to be Nurse but I am still getting my ass kicked and call my mom crying from stress and exhaustion three times a week (last time was last night on my way home from a 13 hour long clinical.
This review book has been reported to be a help by a few fellow students reviewing certain concepts and practicing questions but it is out my price range right now.
I definitely plan on participating in this program in the future when I am making good money as a nurse.
    Thank you!!!

  255. Ghost – Guess How Much I Love You is a great baby gift and comes in board book form.

  256. @emilypageart: As I’m not living in the US, I’ve just bought the kindle edition of your book via Amazon.de.
    Thank you.

  257. Lindsey #605 Thank you so much! My son is going to be so excited and will love the surprise ♥️

  258. I would really like to have this book. Preferably via kindle for portability, my email for kindle is Adella_averill@outlook.com but I would also appreciate in paperback or hardcover! I love the idea of this book giving/book exchange! Thanks for being awesome!

  259. Jennifer #433 & #444 – expect two parcels very soon! 🙂 Sending lots of love to you and your son! <3

  260. If anyone is still looking to gift some books, I put two books by Matt Haig on my list that I’d love to read. We graduated from the same university in the UK (albeit in different decades) and his posts on Facebook and Twitter about anxiety and depression have been very inspirational to me. 🙂
    https://www.amazon.de/hz/wishlist/ls/180AP6HQM4T9

  261. With so many allergies and health issues in my house, this book is a must have and has been on my list for a while. But life keeps getting in the way of me buying it. I have a child with autism and OCD, and another child with food allergies –and I love that this book has a lot of nut free recipies. This book might not be a fictional “escape”, but it’s a non-fiction wonder that I’d love to have in my hands so that I can make better, yummier, healthier meals that the kids will actually want to eat 🙂

    http://a.co/46RDtbV

  262. Booksgiving is the best! I’m still so grateful for the books that were sent to me two years ago, right after my first ambulance ride and near death experience. Time to pay it backward! (Is that a thing?)

  263. Thank you, Andrea Hogrefe, so much! I’m so excited! After we’re through, we’ll give it to our senior center.

  264. FOR THOSE STILL LOOKING TO GIVE TODAY: 🙂
Start at post #784… big shoutout to “Serine23” for compiling the list up until that point, and many of those lists are still active!

  265. I added a book for me, a book for my sister, and a Harry Potter book for each of her kids. My sister is the type to not make a list for herself or her kids so I thought I would add theirs to mine. I hope that’s ok. I know some of these are temporarily out of stock but they’ll be happy whenever they arrive. Thank you in advance!

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/5MY0D8UR0ZKU

  266. I love this event so much. Just seeing so many people helping others, and seeing that it’s ok to ask for help sometimes, makes my heart warm. This one is a little expensive ($40, which is why I haven’t bought it for myself yet) so I totally understand if that’s too much to ask, but I’m a huge Disney fan, and it’s about the role of women in Disney’s animation studio, and it looks amazing, so I’m putting it out there in case anyone is in a position to make me really happy.
    https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2K2I0QMFQ3D17

And now I’m going to see I can do to make someone else happy!

  267. Hey y’all-

I’m an unemployed editor (laid off in 2016) and funds have been tight. My book request is a little more on the unconventional side. I could really use a copy of the new Chicago Manual of Style, but it’s sort of pricey. As a second and slightly less costly choice, I also included the new edition of Garner’s Modern English Usage (also not cheap, but a little less pricey).

    https://tinyurl.com/yc68aon4

I read style guides in bed the way other people read engaging novels. Also, I’m hoping Garner’s still has the entry for “pubes” because it’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever come across.

Just throwing these out there. I know they’re not cheap books (the reason I haven’t gotten them already), so I’m cool with any outcome. In any case, thanks Jenny for doing a great thing!

  268. I just started school and I know I will be broke and unable to buy books for awhile. It would be awesome to get the next book in a series my friend showed me!
    http://a.co/0tEBS15

  269. Can I be that person and respectfully request the rules include putting the name of the book in the comments here? All of you beautiful people are requesting books that moved you, helped you escape, etc and I am dying to know what books these are for my own selfish book eating habit but the books are purchased already! (what an awesome “problem”!) Thank you for cat herding this, Jenny. And thank you everyone participating!

(I’m exactly the same. Here’s a backdoor way of seeing it: On their list click on “filter and sort” and click “Purchased”. It’ll show you the book they got. Takes a bit of time though. ~ Jenny)

  270. I absolutely love the idea behind this holiday! Books have always been a way to escape for me, and I could really use that right now. I’ve got two books on my list- one for myself (Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore) and one for my soon-to-be foster children (Maybe Days). My husband and I are getting licensed to foster and everyone says this book is great to read when a child is first placed with you, but we just don’t have the extra funds for it right now because of everything else we’ve been getting together to be licensed. Both books are Prime eligible. Thank you so much in advance!! I can’t wait to be able to gift someone a book during Booksgiving 2019.

    http://a.co/2l1hVND

  271. Mikayla’s Mom @ Comment #850 Jenny’s book, You Are Here, should arrive on Feb 9th. Get those pencils, markers, crayons, or whatever, ready to go!

  272. If you are still looking to give here is a list of people who still have books to be purchased. I started with 500 and stopped at 867 (which was the end of the list at the time). Two other lists were made for the ones prior to 500. Those can be found at 782 and 784. If your number isn’t on the list it was purchased, incorrectly linked, or I may have missed it. Happy Booksgiving!

  273. This is amazing! I’ve always wanted to participate but have always been too scared. Well nope, not this year.

    http://a.co/86mHDIB

Needing a little pick me up this year. I have all of your books.

  274. Boosting from post 812:

I have a dear friend who is a mom who is constantly budgeting — she recently lost her employment and her husband’s work is seasonal. A good book or two would help her immensely.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/giftlist/2TASWUZKI7J2T?ref=cm_go_nav_hz

(If someone is feeling extra generous, I have a book remaining on my list as well, but my friend is the reason I’m reposting this, so I’d rather she get something — thank you! <3 : https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1UN8O8QEB7DAP/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_3)

  275. I love Booksgiving! I participated in the first one and it made me super happy. Especially since I was going through a rough time. Since I am a college student and my money is very limited, I will try to buy a book for someone this year.

I couldn’t decide between two books. Either one is okay with me. I picked “Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone” and “Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead” both by Brene Brown.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/N5EV2W9MRKWY/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

    Thank you so much, Jenny!

  276. This is such a great idea. I can’t wait to participate in both directions. Book lovers are special people. Thank you for this and we will be thinking of you when we see your baby brother on SC.

  277. So i did a thing with booksgiving this year!!
I bought a stranger a book to help out.
Than i help myself and bought myself a book which i wouldnt have done normally… Felt awesomeeeeee. I also bought a book for my kid. I wounld habe done it either. And my husband created a list and since its all about helping i bought him a book… So i helped a stranger but i also helped my family and myself this time… I felt sooo good.

Thanks Jenny. I did something new and something i wouldnt habe done normally.

  278. I know I’m a day late, but if Booksgiving is still going, I’d like to add my name in:

    A book I’d like
    Link: http://a.co/0S7UsKL

I’ve given two copies I bought to other friends, and would love a copy I could keep for my own…

  279. Three lists have been created for people who still haven’t received books. They are found at 782, 784, and 870. Everyone has been so awesome and generous! Let’s try to make sure everyone gets a book that requested one:)

  280. I love this idea! You’ve inspired me to buy Let’s Pretend This Never Happened for my closest friend. She makes me laugh almost as much as you do and would love your books! Also, one time my mom and I were hiking in Ecuador and were chased by a sneaky llama hiding in the trees. It was really fast and almost trampled my mother until she decided to stop and stare it down. It ended up just snacking on her hair, and I realized then that my mom had grit. I had forgotten about it, but thanks for bringing back the memory!

  281. I figured out how to create a wish list, I think! (Only if it isn’t too late. People here have been being so generous and it warms my heart). BTW, I realized the trauma book I wanted (The Body Remembers, by Babette Rothschild) is on the expensive side, so I put a color by number book there too (people don’t have to get me both!! One would be fine).

    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/wishlist/2NCCU9Z0X2KVN/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1

Again, thank you Jenny! (BTW my name is Jennifer!)

  282. Looking for people to send books to – M Montoya #499 and SaraWR #487need to put your email address on wishlist to get kindle items
#551 link doesn’t work #557 Timothy need address

  283. #480 Carrie Smithson your book is coming slowly (but cheaply)
Kitty/Aidan (depending on which part of your wishlist I am looking at) book on the way, also slowly.
Other people still on the list, I looked a a bunch with no address or kindle with no email in the notes, so that’s why people are not buying you books – don’t feel bad!

  284. What an awesome idea! Thank you
Can’t wait to see what everyone else is hoping to read!

There are two books I couldn’t choose between that I’ve been dying to get my hands on! <3 http://a.co/23dB87c

  285. This has been so much fun going through lists, seeing what folks are excited about reading, though I think my budget is just about shot for booksgiving 2018.
Still hoping I may get a book, my list is at #162.
    Happy booksgiving everyone!

  286. This is such a sweet idea. jkparker1, #907, your book is on its way! Hugs from snowy NH!

  287. Sparklelina (919), I would love to get a book for your kiddo but it looks like your link takes me to my own wish list rather than yours. Give it another try!

  288. Oh! It looks like someone has granted a Booksgiving wish to me! Thank you!!! I don’t know if you like animals but I am sending a bunch of doggie tail wags in your direction (from dogs I walk at the animal shelter, plus my plush dogs). 🙂

  289. Happy Booksgiving everyone! Here’s the book that I would like. Now I’m off to get one for someone else! ❤

  290. This book would be for both me AND my son! I want to re-read it before the movie comes out, and I would love for my 10 year old son to read it with me. Thank you!
    http://a.co/0HjR2ns

  291. I am so late to this party. I am a single parent to my two daughters, aged 7 and 9, and to my niece, aged 10. My older sister died when Sarah was 7 and when my brother in law remarried Sarah was already spending so much time at my house that it was just sort of decided that she would stay. Which is fine with me because he’s an ass. I got Sarah, I win. Anyway……I work as an office assistant and while I can put a roof over my girls heads, clothes on their backs, and food in their bellies, there isn’t a lot leftover. Constance, Rose, and Sarah ask for almost nothing, with the exception of books and art supplies. I put a book series on the list, it is something they can share and when they are done they share their books with their cousins. My little librarians. Now I’m crying. Anyway, thank you for reading this far and happy booksgiving! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3ICVJSF143NWT

  292. OK, I’m back after 9 hours in the car. Blergh. I’ll try to moderate the list again, and check all the comments. But for now, Debbie V, 468, a book coming your way!

  293. Reposting from above (855):

I added a book for me, a book for my sister, and a Harry Potter book for each of her kids. My sister is the type to not make a list for herself or her kids so I thought I would add theirs to mine. I hope that’s ok. I know some of these are temporarily out of stock but they’ll be happy whenever they arrive. Thank you in advance!

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/5MY0D8UR0ZKU

  294. Sarah #728 thank you SO very much. He is going to be so excited. Happy thanksgiving to you.

  295. I am comment 717. I just want to thank yhe people / person who helped some of our kids get books. This is truly a blessing and these kids picked their wish list book ans were so in awe of the idea that someone would give to them when They “did nothing deserving” these kids are part of my sons Anxiety and socializing group and most of them fing such love and acceptance in books! We still have a few kids who have books on the list and they worked together to make the list so that they could all exchange their books when they are done! I have gone ahead and filled a few more book requests for people who havent been gifted books yet. If I can do more Friday I will. I would love to see all the kids get the books on their list but seriously I am in awe of this community and what has already been given. Happy booksgiving everyone <3

Just in case you wanna take a book of the kids list. Thank you everyone again! Hi. Check out this list: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/B017DTFR15OY

  296. Lily S. (#932), your book is on its way! Should be there Friday.
    Happy Booksgiving!
    Joe (#473)

  297. there is this website bookdepository.com that I really love, they ship books all over the world for free….just sayin’

  298. I may have missed the boat on this one. I was so excited I didn’t leave my wishlist! I was #180. I just enjoy being one of your posse! And it was such a great feeling to be able to be on the giving end of the Christmas gift extravaganza this year! Thanks for giving us a place to feel at home.

  299. Thank you Serine23 for consolidating requests and posting the numbers of those who have not yet been gifted! What a task!

  300. Also, Jenny, not sure if you’ll read this comment… but I moderated last year, and this year, maybe I can help come up with an active Google doc or something that will make for a smoother system?

  301. #938 Two books headed your way. So pleased to help out a budding musician! Thanks so much for asking! You made my day.

  302. How I wish Jean Luc Picard was President of the World. Any day I get to look at Patrick Stewart as Picard is a good day. Love you Jenny.

  303. So why are so many numbers being skipped over? I am one of the ones skipped and I know this is about the giving, but it kinda sucks when I give a book and people 100 numbers after you are getting books and other earlier people arent.

  304. Meresa (636), Jess (725), and Stacey (798) – Something headed to each of you!

Yesterday was a really crappy day, but then when I got home I discovered it was Booksgiving. Being able to provide somebody else with a little present & a smile was the best medicine. It’s been a rough year, but stuff like this keeps me going. You guys are all amazing – all the askers, all the givers, all of you.

  305. I would love a copy of “Never bet against Occam: Mast Cell Activation Disease and the modern epidemics of chronic illness and medical complexity” by Dr. Lawrence B. Afrin & Kendra Neilsen Myles.
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2NI7BFU1UQFYV/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1

After spending yesterday morning in urgent care it’s clear I need to know more to be my own medical advocate. Say the words “Mast Cell Activation” and you get the 1,000 yard stare that makes you wonder what list your name was just added to by staff.

By the time it arrives, I should be recovered enough from Influenza A & B to be reading again. I hate being so sick I can’t read.

To whomever purchases – thank you SO much!!

  306. You’re all such lovely people for doing this. I just came back to my home away from home for grad school and am not able to use my library here because my legal address is in a different state. I’ve been exploring spirituality and moonology and would love this book on it. For some reason connecting with the moon really helps me feel grounded when I’m in a period of disassociation. (I’m sure what I’m actually doing is some form of meditation but this was the avenue I found it through so I’m sticking with it)

Also any suggestions you have on good books you guys have read about spiritualit, moonology, meditation or mindfulness would be lovely.

    Much love, stay sane

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2EG6ZKWPKIL26?&sort=default

  307. So, as far as I can tell there are 160 lists with unfulfilled wishes. Barbara (719) I’m trying to send you a Kindle book, but I can’t seem to get it to go to someone other than myself… I love your book choices.
Also, to Anonymous (above) I couldn’t say why yours has been skipped over, but there are still a lot of lists. I think sometimes people “connect” with posts, or even a book they think is great too. Which is yours?

  308. So, Jenny, is Annual Booksgiving always on 2/6 each year? I’m sad I missed THE DAY, but I was happy that I could find someone else who missed it and sent them a book. I wasn’t able to do that last year. I just really want to put Annual Booksgiving Day on my recurring calendar so I can participate in real time! Love to you all! Life is so beautiful and better with every single one of you in it.

  309. Oh.. I figured it out. I am so s-m-r-t. Barbara 719 your digital book is on your way. I’ll try to update the list again tomorrow, and delete any fulfilled ones from the “master list” and also any that don’t have an email included for Kindle books. Happy giving everyone!

  310. I love the idea of including a book for a child, I know how ecstatic it makes my daughter to receive mail! So there was one intriguing book for me, I have heard great things about this book and improving your health, and one book from my daughter‘s Christmas wish list for an item that was remaining after Santa came.
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/LOAVYEJFIN8D/
    Happy Booksgiving, everyone!

  311. I’m not sure if maybe what I picked for the kids was not right but I thought I would update just in case I needed explanation?

I deleted two books, my eldest and myself don’t need anything if it prevents the young ones from receiving.
My 17 year old is into thriller novels, I picked out a new bestseller for her.
My 15 year old doesn’t find the joy in reading yet but maybe a classic will help?
My 14 year old really just likes any fiction novel, I’m not sure I picked a good one but I’m hoping!
My 12 year old will be in middle school next year and could really use inspiration.

We survive on a very meager budget and luckily we can access the local library but they would love to have their own books.

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2CXK3XPOFMBXK

  312. Anonymous (967): When I’m buying items for Booksgiving, I tend to scroll down to the most recent requests, because the earlier requests are much more likely to have been filled by somebody else. But, of course, if other people are doing the same thing, that means that the very early and very late requests will get filled, while stuff in the middle may get ignored. (My request, for example, hasn’t been filled AFAIK. I’m number 805.) Fortunately, this site has a lot of fans, so your request may be noticed once more people have had a chance to read this entry.d

  313. I’m not a single mom, have a disease, or any fabulous story, but I am broke and my girlfriend and I would really love a book! thanks and hugs and good vibes to all

    http://a.co/1HxIxtc

  314. I would appreciate a copy of this book about introverts: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/ETC5EJJ8B4YM

I left my job last November to build my own business, and everything has felt like a struggle since then. I understand that I am an introvert, which is the root of many of my “quirky” thought patterns and responses to life, but I still feel like I am flawed and doomed to fail before I even begin. Reviewers said this book helped them understand themselves better. I am hoping it can do the same for me so maybe I can get on the winning side of this perpetual war with my brain.

  315. Well, I was actually really looking forward to participating in this as a giver… And suddenly stuff happened and now I’m the one leaving a wishlist. I got some rather bad news yesterday (everyone’s fine health-wise but it’s something that’s a big deal to me) and it sort of pushed me over the edge into a depression. I’ve been feeling a depression poking at me for about a week now but I thought I had it under control… Not so much now.

I hope this links correctly. This book has been on my wishlist for literally years and every time I have a little extra money there are always other things more important. It doesn’t seem to be available directly through Amazon, so I’m really not expecting to get it, but… I might as well put it out there anyways. (I’d totally be fine with a used copy!)
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1ZKMZFHELZKRZ

  316. JR…@934 and 978…I was able to gift 2 of the 4 remaining books on your list for your kids. Should be there the 12th. Hopefully someone can cover the 2 others.📚😉

  317. Anonymous @ 967… I’ve looked at a bunch of different lists until I found one I “connected” with. Hope that happens for you

  318. To those complaining about not having their wishes yet fulfilled… it seems like many have wishlists with multiple books. i think the point was to choose ONE book – otherwise, we click on your link and we see 20 books, and can’t tell if perhaps someone has already purchased 5 others for you! I’ve gifted a few, but tended to skip the long wishlists because I don’t know if maybe you already got half of your list purchased, but you have 10 more that you want, and I think we would all like to share the love and cover everyone once. Love you all and love BOOKSGIVING!

  319. I have never asked for a book before but this has been a rough year. I have been wanting to geth this book for quite awhile but never can justify it. Used is absolutely fine. I’m asking for
The Jewish Study Bible: Featuring The Jewish Publication Society TANAKH Translation
I actually have it on Kindle, but it’s so long it’s hard to read and the footnotes are odd. I would like the hard copy so that I can make notes easier.
    Thank you!
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1CHYKFV84DLFI?&sort=default

  320. heather26r, I tried with two different places and they won’t let me send the book to a wishlist person. (I don’t know why.) Can you contact a person privately through WordPress? I have just enough on my Amazon gift card for yours, but would need your address.

  321. If you are in the US and your book wish has not been filled before comment 600, you are most likely:
    (1) Missing a shipping address for your wishlist or
    (2) Need to add your email address in Amazon wishlist notes for a kindle book or switch to a physical book.
Happy Booksgiving, All! Thanks, Jenny (and your current spirit animal, the llama) – You are hilarious, amazing and generous!
See others’ summary posts 782, 784 and 870.

  322. Jenny, I am hanging by a thread. If I listed everything here that was wrong, I’d be here all night. I’m 50 with chronic illness that is the same or similar to yours, but there is so much more going on. Your books have helped me more than any before, but could you recommend any others? I can buy them. I just don’t know what to buy.
Thank you. I love you. ♥️

  323. I may have gone slightly overboard again, but it feels good 🙂 The following lovely people have books on the way:
reallyredfox (247) – “Sleep Revolution” & “The Hate U Give”
    mel (550)
Sara (589) – I sent you a couple last year so it’s hubby’s turn this time!
Mama Frog (638) – all 4 on list
stacey (643) – cleared the last 3 on the list so everyone gets a book!
anon (674) – books for everyone!
    Wooly Witchy (811)
mermaidchasingbooks (818) – both Wayfarers books (you only asked for the first but I really enjoyed both)
nightoatsblog (842) – the other Matt Haig
    gilanamia (857)
Mafdet (859) – Hyperbole and a Half is excellent, I hope you like it
    Michael Joyal (880)
    Colleen (900)
    jkparker1 (907)
    Beth (911)
Erin (939) – books for both you and your daughter
James W (961) – hope your Dad enjoys the book

If there’s anything left in my budget after that I’ll check in again and see who else needs booky magic.

  324. Everything feels hopeless and I don’t think that I’m ever going to be good enough.I exhaust myself for people who will never see me for anything more but a person who will do everything for them. It’s my fault really… I do everything because I hope that a friend, family member, or employer will like me because I do so much for them. It just makes people ask for more of me and they never treat me the way they should. I could use a true friend and a decent job but the older I get the more I realize I will be lonely and poor for the rest of my life. So, I’ll read books, and they can be my friends.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3T2HMF3015EX8/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_2

Thank you to anyone who purchases this book for me.

If you couldn’t already tell, I had a bad night at work last night. I’m trying to convince myself that I can face another day of it. In reality, I will go, and try to pretend that this job is worth it. Because I’m going to have this no matter where I go.

  325. Okay, I know I am probably commenting on this way too late, but I’d love to read your first book Let’s Pretend This Never Happened (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/digital/fiona/add-to-wish-list.html/ref=dbs_p_ebk_r00_plwl_wlal00). I just finished Furiously Happy.

I know that you probably don’t have the time to read the 1000th comment on a post, but I just wanted to say how good it was to read a book that really made me laugh. I’m going through a hard time at the moment, and I’m not able to work right now. I’ve moved back in with my parents and I often have panics where the only thing I can do is crawl into bed and wait for them to pass (like you say, “sometimes I control it by letting it control me, because I have no other choice”)

It’s so valuable at times like these to be able to laugh. I literally had to forbid myself from reading Furiously Happy on the train because I kept laughing. I hope that one day we do discover a magic bean that can turn us into Jennifer Lawrence (although then there would be 3 Jennifer Lawrences? Actually, that would still be awesome).

  326. Booksgiving 2018
Ayla – A book is on the way to you! I hope it shines a light into whatever darkness you are fighting!

    Stand by Marian Jordan Ellis

  327. I may not qualify for help, but I figured I would post anyway and take my chances. I never usually ask for help but I really don’t know that this is “help” so my pride is not as bruised 🙂
It is just myself and my husband and our 2 children. I didn’t add a book for myself, but it isn’t for lack of desire. I just read so much that I couldn’t pick just one book to read. Maybe someone here could suggest one?
My husband works so hard but with that being said he never has much time home. When he is, he loves to just relax with a crossword puzzle.
My teen loves to read but she doesn’t like the typical books of her age so I struggle finding things that will both interest and challenge her.
My baby is slowly discovering a new love of fantasy so I’m trying to find him books that are age appropriate but also exciting enough that he enjoys them.

That’s us, and I hope you’ll consider us. I tried to find cheaper books, but if I need to change something please let me know. Same with any suggestions for me 🙂

  328. 1007-Kate
I don’t know how to comment on your link. I sent all 3 books. I lost a son too. It’s the worst club to be in, but we have each other. I’m with you.

    Tresa Rose
    tresa_rose@yahoo.com

  329. Lana #967 and others who have commented that they haven’t been Booksgifted, it might be because you’ve listed more than one book. Jenny asked for folks to only list one book for themselves and one for each kiddo they have that would like a book.

To be honest, if I click on a list and it has multiple books listed, I just skip on over. You may want to create just a Booksgiving wish list with that one special book you want, so you don’t have to cull down any established wish lists in your account.

I also check to see if anyone has already purchased from that list (you can filter using the purchased/unpurchased feature in the upper right corner of the list) so if someone has already had a book purchased, I’ll skip that list as well. I would like to point out that if you do use the filter CHECK THE DATE! The book may have been purchased for a previous year’s Booksgiving event.

Also, for those who have listed Kindle editions unless there is an email address listed, that book can’t be gifted. Perhaps switch to a physical book instead, especially if you’re not comfortable giving your email to strangers.

Off to do some more Booksgifting!

  330. Vorah/Mickey/BrilliantHijiinxed #1008 looks like you created multiple lists and three books have already been purchased. And you keep changing your name so that’s sending up some red flags for me.

  331. Kailynn, comment 807, a book heading your way for your classroom. So cool that you are building a library for your kiddos that reflects their community.

  332. To anon: I let my boyfriend and my sister post from my account as well, but they changed their names so they could create their own wishlists and books. Should we have done it in one comment? Should they have mentioned me?

Sorry genuinely curious, first year participating.

I shared this link with them becaus we all love books.

  333. 985 Cassie – YOU ARE AWESOME! My daughter will love getting a package from Amazon!
999 Iain – You inspired me! More books are being sent in your honor! Muah!
Serine23 – You kinda rock a whole lot too! I would love to come up with a way to help Jenny do this in the future!

  334. This is so amazing. Over 1,000 comments and I’m clicking on lists at the bottom that have been fulfilled. VIVA BOOKSGIVING!!!

  335. What a fantastic thing you’re doing. I don’t need a book, but I do need time to actually read the ones that are piling up on my nightstand. Would love to buy a book or two for those in need or want. Thanks for doing this!

  336. Well, I am feeling like the world’s biggest douche canoe right now! I put four books on my list because I thought it would be fun to give people a choice to pick from. I always love getting to pick the book that resonates with me off of other people’s list. In my excitement of it being Booksgiving, I left out the part in the ‘bio’ where I should have said that I put four books on my list not out of greed, but to give some kind soul a choice. I never expected anything at all, much less all four. I am so sorry! So, now I am off to pay it forward and buy more kind souls books. Sorry again, if it seemed greedy. Absolutely not my intention, but now I see how it seemed that way. Sending out love and light and inner peace to all of you amazing people! Iain, words can express my gratitude for your generosity. Thank you seems insufficient….

  337. I just realized that I didn’t include an email with my book (kindle version) which is why no one was able to gift it. I hope I’m not too late, but I wanted to just post it again with an email.

Thank you all – I’ve been going down the lists and just the fact that I’m having such a hard time finding one to fill is amazing. Thank you Jenny for hosting, and everyone else that participates. You all are wonderful.

    http://a.co/dMMfJnj

  338. Gentle spirit at 972, you are not alone and you are not invisible. Your ebook is on the way.

  339. A day late, a dollar short… just my luck. 😛
If anyone’s still out there, I’d really love a book this year. It’s been a less than fabulous time. My husband didn’t even remember my birthday this year. And let’s not even get started on the “job” that never paid me…
So, if anyone’s feeling kind, I’d love Emily Wilson’s “The Odyssey”, please and thank you.
    http://a.co/6tlhY9d

  340. Aloha Y’all! I recently move from Texas to Hawaii and have had my eye on Jenny’s You Are Here for a while but it is not smart to buy books just before a move (adds serious weight) and not so great to buy right after the move because you just paid for the huge move. Anyhoo, Booksgiving request is You Are Here http://a.co/fl5cB0G
    Thank you!

  341. My book just arrived!! Thank you, Tanya for this. It made my day. Off to plan some jewelry making.

  342. Might be too late to the party, but worth a shot. I’ve been wanting this book forever and never seem to be able to get it.
    p://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/39OODRVLU8IV

  343. Hello and good day! I wanted to let you know, I got my book today! I wanted to thank whomever sent it for me! I hope you see this!

  344. I’m heartbroken that my hive of bees didn’t make it through this winter despite babying them as much as I could, and am working hard to get my garden ready for the new package of bees that I had to order that won’t be here until May. So I lost thousands of bees and any chance of honey this year, plus had to spend more money to have more bees, so I’m hoping to make up some of the costs by having a great garden this year so I can save on groceries. I’d love to have this weekly garden handbook to keep me on track. http://a.co/fys1q1v

  345. Serine23, you are indeed so s-m-a-r-t to have figured out the kindle hurtle and thank you. I ***really needed *** this book, hopefully to feel normal, not just pass for normal.
I saw your post this morning and had a good laugh.
I sent you a thanks this morning. Unfortunately, I sent it back to Amazon, who sent it right back to me.
I obviously didn’t get any smarter technologically overnight.

  346. Dear Anon #967: I hear you! My number is 470 and hasn’t been filled either. I’ve decided that next year. I’m probably not going to ask for a book. Last year I wasn’t in a position to give and I got a book (still so grateful Gemma!). This year I’ve bought multiple books. I think that hoping to see you my request filled has taken away a lot of the joy (actually just about all of it) of giving.
As a side note, for those of you fortunate enough to receive, please remember to send a quick thank you to your gifter. Personally, I know I’d really appreciate it (I’m still wondering if the Christmas gifts I sent even made it!).

  347. Am I too late? I sure hope not!

I have 4 amazing kids. One is just about to graduate, so I think a book on surviving college would be a phenomenal graduation gift. Two are sophmores and just prefer fantasy/gothic style novels, so hopefully I picked out something good. Finally, my “baby” is just starting high school and maybe needs to see he’s not alone in how he feels.

Luckily, all my kids LOVE to read!

  348. Z3lda72 comment #470, Your book should arrive between February 22nd and 27th. Happy Booksgiving!!

  349. Thank you so much to the RuthC who sent me my book. It means so much to me that you have done this – not as much for the monetary value as for the sentimental value. I already loved this book, but I shall cherish it even more because it is a reminder that there are good and kind people out there in the world who are book giving fairies – the best kind 🙂

    Again thank you.

  350. Fernando (entry # 1024), I just bought You Are Here and it is on its way to you. I hope you enjoy it :). Much love, Wendy W.

  351. Shannon C. I received my book today. It was a big surprise. Thank you!

Rose D., I forgot your post number, guess your book is backed up a couple weeks, but it is coming.

  352. Mary (comment 1054) I tried to send you your book wish, but you don’t have an address associated with your wish list. Can you please add one?

  353. I would love to have something to read… my body is broken, and i am spending most of my time these days waiting at doctors for tests.

    in GERMANY

  354. Going through the hardest time of my life right now I’ve ever had to go through. Just separated from my husband, moved out and trying to get myself in my feet. My kids stayed with their dad so that’s extra hard. Just started a new job and struggling to finish school. Wish I could help out someone else.

  355. Imagine my surprise when I came home today and found not one, but TWO books! Thank you so much, Clarissa and Kelly! I feel very guilty because when I posted my list, it had two books on it. I almost immediately took one off. Both books were still there when I went back to make my edit, so I assumed I had gotten there in time. But I didn’t. And I’m so sorry. But I am so, so grateful. So grateful. Thank you.Because both of these books are precious.

But Kelly and Clarissa, if you message me on Twitter, I will arrange to send you a painting created by the tootsies of a tiny, endangered tortoise to thank you.

  356. SO much fun! Books on the way for Alyce #1070, DJ #1049, lana1967 #Iforgot and Bethany #621

  357. Christy (1066), everyone should have a copy of Furiously Happy. It’s on it’s way to you and should be there on Saturday.

Rhonda (1055), I got the last 2 on the list for you. Black Witch and Freshman Survival Guide. They should be there by Tuesday.

  358. Vanessa, (826), your book should be there Monday.

Stephanie (778), your book should be there by Tuesday.

Anon (802) and HippoFairy (997), you don’t have shipping addresses listed so I couldn’t send you anything.

Also, there are a few people who have Kindle books listed and unfortunately, those don’t work on Wish Lists since it will download to my Kindle and not yours.

  359. Alysha, (1077), January sucked for me as well so I’m hoping your February and the rest of the year improves. Your book should be there Saturday.

  360. Serine23, thank you for taking the time to make sure those with unfulfilled wishlists have been more easily seen! If you are one of those who still has not had your book purchased, please, please, please do not despair or feel like this means that you don’t matter. I know I have felt invisible and unloved most of my life, and things like this can sometimes feel like you really don’t matter at all. The way the requests come in, unfortunately, sometimes we miss our fellow tribe members. If this is you, please know that you are not invisible to me, or our fellowship. Please comment your wish list number again, so hopefully you can receive some love in the mail too.

  361. #793 (Nikki in Australia) – I tried to get the Harry Potter book for you, but the one on your wish list wouldn’t ship there for me. Wanted you to know I tried and hopefully that book makes it to you 🙂

  362. Mama Frog, you are too sweet. Hang in there. I have been “Booksgiven.” And my kiddos, which is crazy sweet. The first year I seriously cried at my mailbox over a book that arrived, last year my son did. “A stranger just gave me a book, just because?” So no worries there. Honestly, I just love Jenny’s books, and blog. And I love this event. I want to make sure everyone gets seen, and has that special experience that someone loves them. It’s good stuff. Now I’ve got to finish the list!

  363. I’m #1033. I can’t experience the year I’ve had. I feel no matter how hard I try I just can’t rest or escape my racing mind.

  364. Christy (1082) there was ONE copy of Hi, Anxiety left, so it felt like it was just meant to be. That copy should be in your hand on Saturday 🙂

  365. This is the WHOLE LIST. Completely edited. Through 1086 Checked for addresses, everything. I have a mother of a migraine, so I won’t be doing it again. But that is so few left for giving!

  366. Popped back in to gift a couple more!
Katie, You are Here will be yours soon.
April, Wake Up should arrive tomorrow
Lora, Level Up Your Life arrives Saturday.
Cici- Enjoy your kindle copy of Fury’s Kiss.

Huge thanks to my own book angel Caramina Piranha for gifting me Binti!

  367. Dearest LEA B! Thank You a Million times for my copy of Furiously Happy that came today. What . a great intro to Booksgiving. I’m already looking forward to next year but it’s so far away I think I’ll go find another person who needs to celebrate with a good bbok. Thank you to you, too Jenny!

  368. Anonymous wish list consolidator, you are the real hero! Just one correction though: 981 was me, and the link is http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/ETC5EJJ8B4YM

But to be honest, I am fine going without since it is past Booksgiving. I am grateful to have witnessed the love of the Bloggess tribe in action again. Whenever humanity seems sucky and hopeless, all I need to do is click any post and read the comments. Love you all!

  369. So… no joke, this all that’s left before comment 600. YAY!!!! I have to take my daughter to a class, but when I get back I will complete the search between 600-1065. If you were missing an email, an address, or already got book(s) up to 600, the list reflects that.

  370. OK, here is the updated list. All the way through. Sorry I stopped listing names and countries, I ran out of steam. But there are links next to the post updates. Thanks again Shannon, for compiling a list later, it made the 500-800 easier. You rock! If you are still on the list, I wish I could buy all of your books. But… do check your settings: if it is a Kindle book make sure you have an email address, if you have some kind of crazy long list be sure you keep it real or people move on… also, if you reposted your wishlist, your other posts may not be on this list (I tried to cull the duplicates). Thanks everyone and Happy Booksgiving! So inspiring to see so many fulfilled wish lists (and such interesting books). Way to be so kind and generous and thank you Jenny for spreading the love!

  371. A few more today before I collapse in bed with a book:
Caitlin (453) – Jenny#1 is on its way to you.
Amy (1038) – The Odyssey is making a journey of its own (in your general direction I hope).
Jasmine (1044) – the cookbook for daughter is you-bound! I’ve always like baking with my Mum (still do whenever I visit, and I’m pushing 40 now!)
xatemac (1072) – Cthulu will be with you soon (in book form thankfully).

I’ll do another pass through tomorrow or over the weekend to catch the latecomers and those that needed to update their list info.

Holly (160) – I tried to send you yours but it won’t ship to gift addresses from a 3rd party seller 🙁 If you can add a $25 gift-card to your list (needs to be a mailable one I think) I’ll send you that and then you can order the book yourself. You’re the only Canadian left that hasn’t received anything and I just can’t let that go 🙂

Turns out it’s not possible for someone in Canada to buy a kindle book for someone in the US, so there’s a bunch of lists I have to skip 🙁 It’s just electrons – this should be simpler!

  372. Serine23, you’ve done a fabulous job of moderating! I have found, looking through the Canadian requests, that most of them have been filled (unfortunately, some through multiple posts, under different names). There is at least one that had a book that was from a 3rd party seller, so wouldn’t ship, and I expect a few others with some sort of problem. I can’t believe the time and energy you put into this, and I’m sure you made it much easier for people looking to gift books. Well done! Happy Booksgiving!

  373. So I bought a book for Angelica Deloia, but now I don’t know which number she is! It’s a preorder for her daughter… I hope she likes it! Happy Booksgiving!

  374. I’m in the middle of “Furiously Happy” right now and I want so much to have a copy to give to my best friend. We are both ‘mentally irregular’ but she’s in a space that would make this the perfect antidote for how she’s feeling and what she’s dealing with. In fact this book is her and I think she needs to see how brilliant and beautiful she is, and I think this book would do that.
Anyway – if anyone is still out there and is able, here’s the link to my wish list. Crossing fingers! Link: http://a.co/eR4Cci3

  375. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/registry/wishlist/3MGKLWNL75JF1
I’m asking for ‘Furiously Happy’ by the amazing Bloggess. I’ve read and listened to the audiobook ‘Let’s pretend this never happened’ and it (as well as this blog) has really helped me through some of my dark times (I struggle with anxiety, depression and complex PTSD). I have yet to read “Furiously happy’ and I would love to read it and have it to help for those inevitable dark days waiting to creep up on me again.
    Thank you Very Much
    Christal

  376. I feel so bad right now. Danielle and Meg thank you so much for sending me my kindle copy of Fury’s Kiss. The thing I feel bad about is that someone else already got me the book earlier that day. I don’t know what went wrong and why Amazon didn’t mark it as bought, but I couldn’t figure out how to return the books. There was an option to redeem them as gift cards, so I did that and used them to fulfill some other people’s wish lists.

I disabled my wishlist last night – was dead tired so am only posting this this morning – but I still wanted to thank you for the gifts and let you know that they did not go to waste!

  377. Hello everyone, there does seem to be some sort of delay in the consolidated lists I am posting, not sure why, so sorry. Maybe because they need to be approved due to all of the links. The one in posting 1103 is WAY out of date. I henpicked every single one of these list for fulfilled orders, missing info etc. But crashed out last night from an awful migraine. But I got it done. YAY!!!

This is the WHOLE LIST. Completely edited. Through 1086 Checked for addresses, everything. I have a mother of a migraine, so I won’t be doing it again. But that is so few left for giving!

  378. My family just relocated to a new state because my husband finally found a job! But it means we are here with absolutely no friends yet. I’m a homeschooling mom so I added for my little ones. Thank you for brightening my day everyone! So awesome to see kindness, generosity and the love of books here.

  379. FS 864 & 827 Anonymous – Your books are being sent to me in error. I would love to forward it on to you. Please contact me so that I can send it. I am so sorry, not sure why Amazon is sending to me..I did this last year with no problems. My email is ssthompson81@gmail.com. Jenny, if you or your team have a way to contact these people…please help me out, I want them to get their books!!!

  380. Amber Lee, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m so looking forward to reading Heart of the Fae! You’re a Goddess!!

  381. I’ve heard about booksgiving and have been really excited for it, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. My mother died Sunday night, and the book I chose probably isn’t the best comfort story, but it’s one of my favorites. I wish I could buy for someone else this year, but finances are not in my favor with a surprise trip back home.
    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/F5KC8OMXMSV7

  382. I want to say thank you to Mary who sent me Before We Were Yours. I had a crappy-ish start to my day, but coming home to my very own book for Booksgiving made my heart full. Thank you so much, kind Internet Stranger! <3 #Tribe ~Jenny Marie

  383. Thank you so much Iain (1105) for the cookbook and the mystery person who sent me a Colleen Hoover book! And thank you Jenny for doing something this awesome, along with the many other awesome things to do! 😀

  384. I bought #837 Adella her Kindle book last night, using her email address. I got a confirmation email, but it says it is still unpurchased on Amazon. I am wondering if it says unpurchased until she gets the email from Amazon, giving her directions on how to download the book? In any case, Adella, please check your email, you have a book waiting! I just hope she doesn’t get it multiple times over, as other people may have seen it was still unfilled.

  385. @Melinda (post #1046) – Your book is on it’s way! I know you’ll have a wonderful garden and hopefully some active beehives very soon. Sending you a virtual hug and good wishes. 🙂

  386. Thank you Jerrie (#1126)! Can’t wait to read it! Happy Booksgiving!

And thank you, Jenny! You’re so awesome for putting this together!

  387. Brittany on comment 1101 (981) you aren’t on the list because your wishlist is lacking a public email address to send you your kindle book.

  388. I just saw this post and hope I’m not too late. I love actual paper books and love this idea! I’m always looking for a good book. I first learned of Jenny a few years ago when my SIL gifted me a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and was instantly a fan. I returned the favor by sending her a signed copy of “Furiously Happy” when it came out. Reading this blog helps me feel less alone and slightly less crazy. Thank you.
The book on my list is about a local family who almost lost their daughter, “Almost Gone: Twenty-Five Days and One Chance to Save Our Daughter.”
    http://a.co/d3AeGLj

  389. WOW everyone… just WOW!!
Gotta do it – a few shoutouts, comments and thank yous:
“Stacy” – maybe #185? – THANKS for the book! I think it’s one I really need right now, put off buying myself, and now am taking the plunge. 🙂
“Serine23” – multiple posts – for moderating, gifting, and helping so many of the rest of us give easily too!
“Iain” – #999 and #1105 – for being a HUGE Booskgiving Day gifter. I’m still grateful to you for giving me a book last year, and this year I could pay that forward!
“Mama Frog” – multiple posts – Thanks for making me laugh with the most humble post using the words douche canoe I’ve ever seen (lol), for your grace in paying forward your ‘extra’ books, and for SEEING your tribe. Beautiful words in #1081.

AND THE BIGGEST THANK YOU TO THE BLOGGESS, JENNY LAWSON, FOR MAKING IT ALL POSSIBLE. 🙂

  390. Hi 🙂 Sarah P. and Katherine M. — your books are arriving today! Yay!!! 🙂

  391. I’m probably too late, but, I fixed mine (#87) (again! WTF Amazon!), but that’s okay, it was soooo much fun sending some people surprise books!!!

  392. Thank you Alyshia for the book! It’s been not a good year so far but I feel very loved getting an unexpected package in the mail. Thank you so much!

  393. Thank you for the heads up, Anonymous 1132. I didn’t realize Amazon hid my email. I guess the only way to make it show is to add it to the wish list description? Ahhh, the struggle of trying to go paperless…

  394. Oh my goodness! I just got a surprise in the mail! All I know is its from Amy! So thank you very much Amy! What a wonderful treat!

  395. Anna, 1104. Wish fulfilled! I hope you love your book. This is my last book to give this year (so I say). I also want to say a giant thank you to Thomas for so kindly filling my wish and my kiddos. It’s such a wonderful feeling. We’re going to curl up early tonight and read together. Happy Booksgiving everyone!

  396. Oops, that was from Serine23, to Thomas. Not sure why my name suddenly stopped showing up. Sigh. Thank you again Thomas!

  397. I just received a book surprise, Huzzah!
Also I love that amazon send a link so I could send a thank you note (email) back

  398. I missed Booksgiving but I’m posting anyway…I’ll have to make sure to be on time next year! What a great idea! <3 I picked a book about the country that I’m adopting children from!
    http://a.co/bINfuxz

  399. To Heather in Yuma AZ at comment #984… I tried to get you a used copy (that’s all that’s available), but 3rd party sellers won’t send to a gift registry or wish list. If you send me your address I will send you The Bloody Countess send to KADQC6@aol.com

  400. yappsite (#1150) – for Kindle edition you need to provide the delivery email address in either the list name or list comments. Otherwise the purchaser has no way to send to you. Cheers…

  401. THANK YOU FOR MY BOOK! I love it and I love you!! I thought I was too late! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  402. Joanne,

Thank you for the Julia Child book. You are my hero!

From one Ruth to another Ruth’s daughter.

  403. Thank you to whoever gifted me a book, I’m super excited to start reading it. Thanks so much!!

  404. Huge thank you to the sender of my new book!! Its either from no one or everyone….
    So thank you EVERYONE!!

  405. I wish I knew which # my comment was..I have no idea. There are too many comments for me to go back and look. But I asked for a copy of “Furiously Happy” for my elderly mother, who can’t get out much anymore due to her health issues. I want to report that it showed up today and she was VERY confused where it came from, as I wanted it to be a surprise. I explained to her what the Booksgiving was and she was like, “Wow. I don’t know if you can thank who sent it to me, but if you can thank them say thank you for me.” So whoever donated “Furiously Happy” to my mom, you made her day. Probably her week and her month and her year at this point, too. 🙂

  406. My book arrived today! Thank you Kate!!! Also thank you Serine for going through all the comments and helping everyone get Booksgivinged. You’re a star!! 🙂

  407. I don’t often find the time to read, so I hate to ask for a book that may sit for awhile. I spend far too much time working to live and not enough curled up lost in a fantasy world.
As much as I want to lose myself in a good book, instead I will hope for something else – a cookbook to help me through these cold winters. It’s just the one book, and if it isn’t the right thing to do I am sorry and I will delete.

    Thank you for any consideration!

    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/BG7C0TUYOO8Z

  408. I hope it is okay I have three books listed, one for my daughter, one for myself and one I know my mother wanted. I am not trying to be greedy or break the rules and will gladly delete all but the one for my daughter if it is a problem.
    http://a.co/gaO9Bes

  409. I want to give my mom this book because she helped me through a day of crippling anxiety today, texting me and calling me giving me ideas about what to do next. “Go to every room in the house and say hello to one thing in it” was one of her suggestions. She is my absolute sun in every dark corner my brain can find and I want to give her something.

    Thanks, you kind, wonderful human.

    https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/HPLIJNXLSW3W

  410. I just wanted to mention that my post (#963) didn’t make it to any of the numerous “round up” lists…I have both a Kindle version and a paperback of the same book on my list, in case one or the other doesn’t work for some reason. Regardless, I think this is an awesome little event, and it’s heartwarming to see so many people participating! To see everyone coming together for this kinda restores my waning faith in humanity, so thank you to everyone who has joined in the fun!

  411. I tried to go back and find my comment to see if I could figure who blessed my mom with a book this year and after 20 min of scrolling, I gave up. There’s just too many dadgum comments.

But again..mysterious book giver..THANK YOU. My mom and stepdad can’t get out much anymore and they’re on a pretty limited income. My mom was a teacher for many years, taught Sunday school for many years and was a popular volunteer at her local library until her health issues caused her not to be able to do that anymore. She was so tickled that somebody had picked her when I talked to her on the phone earlier this evening (it’s almost 1 am as I write this. I have pretty bad insomnia and just finished watching a 3 hr documentary on the Lance Armstrong doping controversy).

  412. Mommatrek, it looks like it was Becky (comment 498) that gifted your book. I think you can send a thank you note through Amazon for items that were sent from your wishlist, though I’m not sure where / when you get shown the option.

  413. Last lot from me for this year:
Vanessa (1165) – your cookbook is headed your way
Marie (1166) – the book for your daughter is on its way
Danielle (1167) – your Mom’s book should be with you soon!

Second wave of fun has stated already – seeing the “item shipped” mails coming in so I know that books are really on the way! And now it’s time to start saving for Booksgiving 4 🙂

  414. I feel guilty for replying but it’s all been hitting the fan for awhile now and sometimes I feel like the only person in the world. I always wish I had enough money to send someone else a book, or send everyone a book, but the best I can do is try to be a good person and hope that helps. Thank you, Jenny, for reaching out and hosting events like this – it makes me feel seen, just for a little bit, and that helps tremendously.

  415. @ Iain from Canada

my book arrived today and i am so very, very happy- thank you!
it’s got this really cool cover that is neither hardback nor paperback, never seen this before.. it’s kinda plastik and really cool, with book quotes stamped into it 3D like. i will be proud to be seen reading this 😀
my husband has to work on the other side of the country, so we only see each other weekends. we are going to trade this book back and forth, since it is full of short stories.. that way we have another hobby to do “together” during the week.

  416. More giving… Sharing some reflection on Booksgiving: My husband and I just had a conversation about the loveliness of Booksgiving. Every year I am moved to tears when my book(s) come, and the kids and I share some book-y love. I love how first it’s all requests, then it all flows back in “thank you’s.” The kindness of a small act is so much that 1: I’ve decided to do this with friends and family, and send them each a book. And 2: even though I said I wouldn’t I’ve just filled a few more wishes. 821, another Harry Potter for your kids drive. 807, another book for the kiddos and classroom, and 879 enjoy reading this too. I’ll be back to read the other posts and next year. Much love to all of you. Hope it keeps going.

  417. I seriously love this holiday and reading through all of the amazing “thank you”s. I didn’t even know this was a holiday but it reminds us that we are never alone. Thank you every kind heart!

  418. Thank you SO much Iain. This is such a great surprise. I cannot wait to give it to her.

  419. I entered my list a few days ago (#792) but was in such a foul mood I didn’t say anything else. Just wanted to make up for that now. I LOVE booksgiving! It’s the best holiday EVER. I was really hopping to be a giver this year since I got some books for myself and my family last year, Unfortunately I’m still in the same hole I was last year and can only hope to be lucky enough to get a book or two. I hope to share Jenny’s books with family members. There’s also a childhood favorite I’d love to share with my granddaughter. As well as an old Sci-fi book I’ve been looking for for years.

  420. Thank you so very much to the kind soul who sent me The annotated Alice book. I’ve wanted it for years, but didn’t have the funds for non-necessities. You have made my whole year!!

  421. Thank you to the thoughtful person who got me a book this year! It made me feel special to give and receive for this amazing tradition!

  422. Happy Booksgiving to you, too, Hannah (#1020). Thank you so much for the Ancient Aliens book for me and my son. We’re really looking forward to diving into it. It came today safe and sound. I tried to use Amazon to send you a thank you that way, but it had someone else’s name on it – I didn’t go through with it in case that was to someone else by accident, so I hope you see this thank you instead.

  423. Katie S.in Columbus, Ohio, Amazon has notified me that the book I sent you is undeliverable so I hope you see this. If you see this please contact the post office.
I would hate for you not to get the book (Evereles) you are expecting.

  424. @yappsite Thank you so very much for sending a book for my children! There is nothing they love more than storytime. I’m so happy to be raising little bookworms. They will cherish this new book. ❤ Rebecca #1117

  425. Got my book (Sarah Palin’s Guide to Good Grammar); thank you so much for doing this! I’m going to try to email the author (Jenny Baranick) & thank her too!

    (Im in Canada)

This time of year is always tough on me and this year Harry Potter has been my go to happy place. I dont actually own my own copy of the book so it would be nice to have a copy I dont have to return.
I just want to say thank you to you Jenny, and everyone else who helps make this possible. I have participated the last two years, and both times I was just so touched by the event. It really brings people together and makes us all feel connected <3

  427. Hey guys. I wanted to thank Ian from Canada and the anon who sent me books. It’s been a really tough two days with my chronic illness and it’s brightened things a bit. I just want you to know how much it meant to me now more than ever.

  428. Rougish Poppet (@ 963 and 1169). The actual book of Welcome to Night Vale Radio should arrive on Monday the 12th. Enjoy!

  429. I was blessed to be sent a book during a truly terrible pregnancy depression. It helped me escape just enough and I’m so grateful to you Jenny for putting this together so I can pay it forward!! @Lauren Hilbert – 933, enjoy your book!

  430. And just when I had resigned myself to the idea that I wasn’t going to receive a Booksgiving present this year, a package showed up with the oddball book I’d requested: a dictionary of surnames. I have no idea who sent it, but thank you, mysterious stranger, for the wonderful gift.

Next year at this time, I hope I’ve become an eccentric millionaire, so I can afford to send more people more books. I keep reading these comments and thinking, “That’s a great book! I should send them that!” And then I look in my wallet. So in the meantime, I’ll have to be gratified that my spellcheck has learned the word Booksgiving and types it for me automatically.

  431. I can’t figure out how to send a thank you note on Amazon so I’ll thank my book angel here. Thank you to the generous, kind person who gifted me Neil Gaiman’s ‘Norse Mythology, To the lovely ladies I was privileged to surprise with their Booksgiving wishes, thank you for the best gift of all – the chance to do random acts of kindness.

  432. I am #304. Jenny said “Looks like it’s on its way” but it’s not! It says not purchased. I think it’s because I simply put the title, NOT a link to the book itself. I fixed it and would STILL love to get Let’s Pretend!!

(You’re totally right. I just went in and bought it for you though so it should be there Tuesday! ~ Jenny)

  433. As comm enter 192, I would like to thank my Book Fairy! <3 <3 <3 This is the best group of people. When my lottery dreams come true I will have so much fun surprising Blogessians!

  434. Sarah (#1022) I hope you enjoy your book! Amazon says it was delivered on Thursday. Happy Booksgiving!
Thank you, Chelsea L for my book – I love it!

  435. Just wanted to thank Leigh–wherever you are–for fulfilling my book wish. The Amazon envelope yesterday made my day. I’m still smiling. Sarah (couldn’t find your original post), a book is headed your way!

  436. I would like to thank the very kind person who sent me my book. It’s wonderful to get surprises in the mail!

  437. I’m getting ready to start teaching in the fall (student teaching now), and I’m trying to build my resources library. This is a book of exercises that my mentoring teacher uses, and it’s fabulous, so I really want to have a copy when I have my own classroom. Thanks so much for making things like this happen, Jenny!

I’m doing this on my phone, so I hope this link works.

  438. I never knew gifting a book to a stranger would be so much fun! Thanks for setting this up, Jenny!

  439. I’m #1173 and whoever sent me my book, thank you SO much. It’s like being able to believe in Santa again.

  440. I am #863, and I received my book (No-No Boy) in the mail yesterday. I just hope that my giver sees this note – I am so grateful for your kindness. I’m a single mom and my bank account is embarrassingly negative. The book you gifted me is next months book for the book club I’m in. I usually download books for free from the library, but this one wasn’t available. Your gesture of kindness made a bigger difference in my day than I can explain. Thank you – truly. *melissa

  441. Hi Solveig (from comment number 788)

I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I sent your book to you last week. On Saturday, I got an email from Amazon saying that because they couldn’t meet the promised shipping date they were refunding my money and canceling the order. I’d only selected standard shipping but I guess Amazon can do that. The email was in French and I used a translation app so it’s possible that I misunderstood. If you got your book, then hooray! If not, please know that you weren’t forgotten. Amazon sabotaged me because they hate Americans. Or maybe it’s just a policy thing. Probably that one, not the America hating thing. I don’t want to cause an international incident. I know they’re watching. I love you, Amazon! What was I talking about? Oh right, your book! Send me a DM on Twitter, I’m @lucidlylost. My account is private but you can message me and I’ll resend the book. 😀

  442. UPDATE******
I went in and updated my info on my list because it really looked like I was being skipped over in the lists of people who still needed books (story of my life)
My stress and anxiety keeps me so quiet lately that people ask me why I dont talk. I really love an excape from my racing thought and have a laugh or learn healthy meditation.
    Here is my updated link….

  443. Many thanks to the wonderful person that sent me Jenny’s book “You Are Here”. You made my day! I enjoyed the book so much more that I thought I would. It so inspired me that I sent one as a surprise to the daughter of a friend that is currently struggling with depression. I really hope it helps her like it did me! What an incredible group of people you are on here. And thank you Jenny for starting such a great tradition we can all join in with it.

  444. Hello wonderful people… I am guessing I am too late here. Hoping to get a book for my wife and/or daughter so I can have a surprise Valentine for them. Currently unemployed so all the money we have is going to necessities. Thank you very much and have a great week!

  445. Alyson (comment 1217) someone bought you Yoga For Anxiety, it shows in the purchased side of your list.

  446. To whoever purchased the book for my daughter, #775, Thank you so much! It’s been a rough few months since she was diagnosed with Adhd and had to change schools. Reading is her escape and she will be overjoyed to receive such a wonderful gift.

  447. Hyperbole and a Half absolutely changed my world. I’ve been coveting books of a similar nature for a while. Even if purchasing isn’t a possibility, I recommend everyone to give them a read if they piqued your interest.

  448. THANK YOU HEATHER ADAMS!!!! Furiously Happy came today!!!!! I could cry. AND THANK YOU JENNY!!!!!

  449. to anne wild man thank you so much for the book! I wish I had your email to send a thank you so I knew you’d get it but i’m hoping you’ll see this.

  450. Just chiming in to say THANK YOU to Eric and Jennifer for the cookbooks. I made homemade hummus, falafel and turkey zucchini burgers last night and my anxious, ever-more-prickly, suddenly vegetarian 15yo daughter actually came back out of her room after eating to say that she thought the food was really good. I may have shed a tiny tear of gratitude. Just wanted you to know that your acts of kindness made a difference in my family last evening 🙂

  451. ‪Not sure if this will ever reach its intended recipient but it feels better to put it out into the world. So, to Alyssa – thank you, thank you, thank you. ‬Got my book today and cried happy tears. Thank you for helping me feel less alone.

  452. Kelly in Indy, I got my book in the mail, thank you so much for sending it! This week is looking up, and this has made it so much better!

  453. Yay, “Hyperbole and a half” arrived yesterday.
Iain, it said it was shipped from Canada? The shipping cost must have been enormous.
    Thank you sooooooooooo much!!!

  454. Jenny – I purchased Post #41’s (CNev) request, but now I got an email from Amazon saying they’re having trouble delivering and need to verify the shipping address. And, of course, since it’s a wishlist, the shipping address showed as “private” so I’m clueless. I don’t know what to do and I can’t comment on her post here. Help!

  455. Anonymous #899 – THANK YOU! I didn’t see your comment until today, and I came home yesterday to the book on front stoop. You made my whole week – thank you!

  456. I couldn’t find a name in the package so all I can do is send a great big THANK YOU for the kindness of the stranger who sent me a copy of “Furiously Happy” that I will now be able to share with my best friend. You are wonderful and I appreciate you and your gift so very much!

  457. Doublepost (see above) but I just scrolled back so that I could see if I could find the generous gifter – thank you thompsonhouseblog – you are wonderful and I can’t say thank you enough!

  458. Katie P. – thank you SO much for my book. Likely it’s been chilling in my mailbox for a few days but this morning was my first venture outside since urgent care last week. Words cannot adequately express my thanks for this gift!!

  459. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to Heather Adams for sending me my Booksgiving wish!! I was a day late and thought I was just out of luck and maybe I should just delete my comment, but you were super kind and sent it anyway! You’re awesome! And so are you, Jenny!

  460. Kinda bummed. I signed up last week for a book for my son. Someone said they were sending it. When nothing showed up I called amazon to check tracking and whoever it was cancelled the order. So even though its late, putting this out there again. Thanks if anyone wants to help. 🙂
    http://a.co/gsg7uzr

  461. Thank you SO MUCH, Heather Adams. I got my book Tuesday, because I’m terrible about checking the mail. I hope you see thid comment, because I was so excited when I got my book. Here’s hoping things are looking up for you.

  462. Thank You, Thank You to whoever sent me “Opposite of Loneliness” by Marina Keegan! You totally made my week! 🙂 Hope you see this!

  463. OMG I am so excited, received my book yesterday thanks to @Suzanne Harold. I can’t express how thankful I am. <3

  464. I didn’t know I could love you anymore than I already do….and then, BOOM! Booksgiving. The beautiful combination giving and books. You. are a f*cking rock star (without the street drugs and hookers, I assume). All my love and guts and shine. XXX

  465. Oh, I missed it! I’m not finding any wishlists that aren’t fulfilled (except those of you who put tons of books on, which seems outside the spirit of Booksgiving).

Last year I was desperately broke, and in a terrible place, and someone buying me a book basically made my year. I’m a little less broke, and really want to pay that forward, so if there is anyone who still needs a book, I’m here for you.

  466. Thank You to whoever bought “The Name of the Wind” for me! It arrived on my actual birthday and was by far my favorite gift!

  467. Ruth C (#1087?): BIG THANKS! You’ve made my month! I’ve sent you a message via Amazon, which I hope you’ve received.

  468. Hi, I love this idea. I’d love You Are Here for my son! http://a.co/0i5jEee
I’ve never been a blogger or a blog reader but I loved Furiously Happy and Let’s Pretend so much that I read it to my 10 and 13 year old sons. My boys GAVE UP VIDEO GAMES for a weekend so I could say the word “vagina” to them ~30 times. Eventually, I got the audio books so I could save my voice. I’ve played the Rory the Raccoon section to anyone who’s been stuck in my car and everyone, including my autistic carpooler, has laughed. I’m asking for this book because my son reads faster than I can buy him books and loses books faster than I can re-pay the library fines.

  469. I know it is probably way too late to do this. I have not been able to get on here in a while. Just having a rough year already. Heck if anyone has used tech type books laying around and want to find a new home they would be happy at my house. But anyway. Here is the family list. We did have mushroom growing books somewhere listed but now I can’t find them. lol.

    Just books

  470. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to whomever bought THE SHAPE OF WATER for me for #BooksgivingDay! It came today– yay! Thank you very much!!

  471. Thank you to whoever got Tanny his book. He will be so surprised.

    Naomi (1269)

  472. 1259 J E, your book is on its way to arrive 3/12. I hope it makes you furiously happy. 🙂

  473. I have never seen a 17 year old boy as happy as Tanny was to see that he has his very own copy of Furiously Happy. He slept with the book last night. Thank you Jodie Marshall.
