It’s coming!

First off, a quick update on the 2019 Bloggess Calendar: you guys have raised over $1,400 that will be donated to Project Night Night to help them provide comfort packages (a tote bag, blanket, a stuffed animal and a book) to children experiencing homelessness, and I am so incredibly grateful!

If you still need one you can click here to order one:

The cover art was done by my friend, Joe Badon, who has actually done the Bloggess Calendar cover for a number of years:

And next week?  We’re going to do the Ninth Annual James Garfield Miracle.

Every year I think it’ll be the last but then it rolls around again and someone who was helped in the past asks if they can help give back this year and it inspires me to do it one more time.  I was actually going to do it last week but I had a touch of depression and I didn’t think I’d have enough energy to get it done but I’m feeling better so if you’re struggling this year and need help getting a present for your kid this holiday or you want to help someone who is very much in need check back soon.

*******

And on an entirely different subject, it’s time for the Sunday wrap-up!

I’m going to BookPeople in a few days to sign books and if you want one for Christmas you can click here to order them and I’ll personalize it however you like.  And yes, I will happily write “KNOCK KNOCK MOTHERFUCKER” or “Thanks for burying that body for me” or draw a cat face in it if you want.  They ship all over the world.  To order a signed personalized copy just add the book to your cart and in the comments field during checkout write the name of the person you want me to inscribe it to or anything personal you want.

Shit I made in my shop (Named “EIGHT POUNDS OF UNCUT COCAINE” so that your credit card bill will be more interesting.):

Shit-you-may-or-may-not-want-to-see:

This week’s wrap-up is brought to you by Storyworth, who I love.  This holiday season, give your loved ones a StoryWorth Book to preserve their stories. Each week, we’ll email them a question about their life – asking them to recount their favorite memory of their grandparents, or whether they’ve ever pulled any great pranks. All they have to do is reply with a story, which is forwarded to you and any other family members you invite. At the end of the year, their stories are bound in a beautiful keepsake book your family will cherish!  Click here to check them out.

  1. So glad to hear about the funds raised to help those kids. It’s a hard PTSD day and I’ve been having panicky crying fits, so I really needed to hear about the good being done.

  2. I loved that Kristin Arnett piece so much, I can’t wait for her book to come out. I’m not usually a fan of novels, but that’s definitely one I’ll read.

Can’t wait to get my calendar!

  3. That Storyworth book thing sounds amazing. I’d love to do that for my dad. Trying to figure out how we can do it. He’s 87, doesn’t do email and lives an hour away. I’ve never heard of it before.

  4. You recommended Story Worth last year, and I bought it as Christmas presents for my grandma and my husband’s grandpa (our kids’ only surviving great-grandparents). Two questions left before they make books for us!

  5. I’m glad I only ordered one calendar so far. I need this calendar in a primal scream sort of way.

  6. We need a name for the James A Garfield Miracle fans. JAG junkies? JAG Miracle Mavens?Someone help me out!

    I can’t waut for JAG-mas!

  7. Hello,
I’d like to introduce myself I’m Patricia from New York a single mother of a very beautiful and smart 14yrs old autistic. God had gave me one of his precious angels Hannah. Well I’d like to say that I have meant two beautiful ladies on Facebook that told me about this web site. I’d like to say it’s so nice that their are still some people out here that still care. Congratulations on the money that was raised to help people. May god bless your warm heart to help people in need their are so many of us out here .

  8. On the topic of knock knock motherfucker- our neighbors recently installed a giant metal chicken and I think of you every time lol resisting moving it to a window 😂

  9. Is it bad that I totally want to get a signed book but I can’t think of what awesomeness I want it to say?

  10. That Kristin Arnett piece is incredible. When she spoke of being tender, tenderness and then pivoted to tenderized, that hit very close to home. Thank you for sharing the link to her article.
And that wildcat release was just the thing. Laughed until I woke my slumbering pugs.
Very excited for the JAG miracle. The holidays can be tough but I can always find light here. P S glad you’re feeling better.

  11. I’m glad you’re feeling better than you were last week, and I’m very amped for James Garfield. You really are an absolute duck.

  12. This is such a horrible thing to ask, I know but is there a way you could make the Rory/Juanita bag a messenger bag with a flap and a zipper on top? I can't be the only one who'd want one of those, right?

I rarely carry totebags (and even when I do, I have 84,000 already because they seem to just show up at our house and breed like rabbits) but I do carry a messenger bag as my purse on a daily basis. I got used to carrying a giant bag that could hold all of my stuff when my son was an infant and I had to carry a diaper bag and I just haven’t been able to shake the habit. He’s now 14, btw. So I haven’t had to carry a diaper bag in over a decade but I still like having a giant ass bag to carry all of my shit.

(Done! It seems a bit pricey though so no worries if you decide to pass on it: https://www.zazzle.com/rory_messenger_bag-210752604426614325?rf=238233029691800410 It wouldn’t let me add juanita because of the spacing but there are two furiously happy raccoons crawling all over it. ~ Jenny)

  13. You have created an enduring legacy here Jenny. Just remember that. With all your fears about being broken and unfixable, take a step back and look at what you have achieved – by being your natural broken AWESOME self! You set something in motion with the James Garfield Miracle, and here it is NINE YEARS LATER – and it has a life of it’s own. People want to keep on being a part of this wonderful event. Go you great and awesome thing!!!!!!!

  14. I actually framed the pictures from the first calendar, and put them up around my house!

  15. I’ve been curious- is there a story behind your, what do you call it, avatar? logo? the curlers and hairdryer business. How/why did you decide to use that image? I think it’s great!

  16. Wonderful calender….if money wasn´t like a real pain in the ass right now I would buy that beautiful thing. In your shop I would buy everything with the racoon on……so kawaiiii…..in a year or so money should be tighter and then…..I will shop….I have both your memoirs and am reading them for the third time in 2 month. You helped me so much with my own mental ilnesses. You are a unique storyteller and I hope I can follow up. when my memoirs are finished. IAnd I wondered if there is a way to write you or would that be to much. I don´t wanna impose.Have nice Winterdays and enjoy your family……..Sarah

  17. I received my calendar today…no cancellations, no problem. I even got it for a great 60% off price, which leaves me torn between “yeah, score!” and being sorry it’s less money for Project Night Night. Well, at least it’s something! I’m looking forward to using it!
