Booksgiving, part 4!

Four years ago this very day I decided to give away 30 copies of my books to people who maybe hadn’t been able to pick one up yet.  I gave them out quite quickly but then lots of other people were like, “I WANT TO GIVE BOOKS TO PEOPLE” and suddenly people were buying each other books and sharing their favorites and adding to their lists of what to read and listening to others about what book they really HAD to read this year and it was fucking incredible.  Honestly the only thing that would make it better would be if we all had otters to bathe, but I can’t provide otters so it’s BYODO.  (Bring Your Own Dirty Otter)  That gives us something to aim for in the future, I guess.

[protected-iframe id=”1e7ca5d8e771af3aeb3770545a2855b3-58006636-1561224″ info=”https://giphy.com/embed/paOWNAFZSHYqs” width=”480″ height=”307″ frameborder=”0″ class=”giphy-embed”]

We called the whole thing “Booksgiving” and have celebrated it every year since and this year is no exception.  SO.  Here’s what you do if you want a book.  Make a brand new wishlist with the one book that you want (and make sure that you assign a shipping address to it because otherwise it won’t work) and leave a link in the comments.  I’ll pop in and send a copy of Furiously Happy, or Let’s Pretend This Never Happened or YOU ARE HERE: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds to 30 lucky people.

[protected-iframe id=”9ce8c9804683ef5a4c8a3a65768ee5c1-58006636-1561224″ info=”https://giphy.com/embed/l0MYtRl33WaN4HGBq” width=”480″ height=”330″ frameborder=”0″ class=”giphy-embed”]

If you’ve already read all of those then feel free to chose a different book.  Depending on how much I have left (the books are different prices) I’ll try to send other books as well.

[protected-iframe id=”c2e7a8b91c3be96d9ec9e5e4d9aa4e7d-58006636-1561224″ info=”https://giphy.com/embed/RTYYVD3pNBDXi” width=”480″ height=”374″ frameborder=”0″ class=”giphy-embed”]

The only rule is ONE BOOK PER PERSON ONLY ON YOUR LIST, with the exception being if you have a child and want to add a book for them too.

If you want to share your favorite book you’ve read recently in the comments that would be awesome.  Or if you wrote a book and want to pimp it out then go ahead.  And if you want to buy a book anonymously for a stranger just check through the comments.  A few books I’ve really loved this month are My Sister, the Serial Killer, The Woman Inside: A Novel, and The Hazel Wood.

Click here for a quick run-down of how to make a new wishlist (Don’t forget the step about adding your address to this specific wishlist!) and when you’re done just leave a comment with a link to your wishlist.  (If you don’t live in America just add that info in the comment so it’s easier to search for people in your area).  Make sure that the book you select is available for Prime shipping and isn’t from a 3rd party seller or a used bookstore because those can’t be shipped to wish lists.

If you decide to gift someone with a book just find a wishlist that has a book on it and buy it.  When you check out select the person’s wishlist address or registry address (You’ll just see their name and city, but not a whole address for privacy reasons).  If they don’t have an address they forgot to add it so delete the book from your cart and try another.

Now, let’s go book shopping!  (PS. This is the best pick-up line in the history of the world.)

  1. Last year someone bought books for my daughter and me. This year I’ll buy books for someone else. Happy Booksgiving!

  2. Oh I have books to recommend! I love Mira Grant. Her NewsFlesh series is amazing. Think political thriller set post zombie uprising.

    (Love Mira Grant. ~ Jenny)

  3. I lost my dream job yesterday because my RA was flaring and I couldn’t get there safely on transit. It was my first day and I ended up sobbing on regional rail. I’m on so much medicine now, but may be sad for a bit.

    Help my bad mood.
    http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2JB6U1U05MYGI

(Looks like someone beat me to it. Sending you such love. RA is such a bastard. ~ Jenny)

  4. I recently discovered books by Brandon Sanderson and I’ve spent WAY too much time staying up at night reading them. Start with The Final Empire, first of the Mistborn series. Or, if you’re not afraid of a hefty tome and a series that’s not finished yet, pick up The Way of Kings. Fantasy at its best!

  5. This is such a cool project, Jenny. Thank you so much for always taking such good care of your fans. Your books have gotten me through a lot in the last few years, and I am eternally grateful. I never like to ask for things, but I figured it’s not rude if someone asks you to ask for something, so… http://a.co/fKakTSL. Thank you again!

    (Sent! ~ Jenny)

  6. A book I need…
    Link: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/2JB6U1U05MYGI

Y’all, I lost a dream job before it even started. My RA was flaring so hard I couldn’t safely take transit. It was supposed to be my first day. Instead, I ended up crying on my cutest blazer.

Michelle Obama has it together though.

(Looks like it’s on the way. So much love. ~ Jenny)

  7. Happy booksgiving everyone! I don’t have any requests to make, but I did want to share that I just discovered the Miss Silver mysteries by Patricia Wentworth (former governess turned private investigator in 1930s/40s Britain), and if that’s your thing, then they are the thing for you.

  8. Hi everyone! I love taking part in booksgiving. I feel really guilty this year because I can’t afford to spread the love. My work contract wasn’t renewed so I’m unemployed again and the brain weasels are strong. Here’s my list. I’ve asked for The Guilty Feminist because I love the podcast and I am a very guilty feminist!
Hello. Please take a look at this list: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1I8F20DQWV9B1

(Sending you so much love. Adding a note here that you’re in the UK. ~ Jenny)

  9. The list is called Wish List Furiously Happy, the book I’d like is Let’s Pretend this Never Happened. thank you!

(I think you forgot the link? ~ Jenny)

  10. Sorry, I am post 17 and 27… I don’t think I can delete but it posted twice !

  11. Jenny, I have all your books and love them! My favorite one to give away is “You are Here.” I’m going to forgo a freebie chance and hope others who haven’t read got them. I am going to share the url to my blog post that lists my Top 40’s Hits (books) that I read in 2018. You, of course, made the list, TWICE!
    https://parttimesunshine.com/2018/12/07/a-bibliophiles-list-40-of-my-favorite-reads-in-2018/

My little book, a novelette, “The Pencil Sharpener” can be found on my website: dslucas.com

I’m thankful for Booksgiving, your words, and otters!

    (Yay! Thank you! ~ Jenny)

  12. I am a new member in a Bloggess Fans book club online and each month the group colors a certain page in You Are Here, then they choose some to use as cover photos in the group. I don’t have any extra money to get my own copy but I am having major FOMO in my book club! These people are amazing and I have found myself laughing at them (and with them) so much recently and I hadn’t realized how much I needed it. (Shout out to Kimberly for adding me to the group!!) Thanks for considering me. <3

  13. I don’t read as much as I should but if someone is looking for a recommendation for an older elementary kid, mine just devoured the Alcatraz vs Evil Librarians series.

  14. This is the first time I’m getting off my butt and participating even though I see this every year. I recently wrote a book. It’s a middle grade fantasy fiction involving some mischievous faeries and a chocolate eating dragon…so here is my fb page or you can visit my website https://www.facebook.com/faeriesofsaizia/?modal=admin_todo_tour http://www.tonyachaves.com

Here is the link to my booksgiving wish list.

You might think all the Dr Seuss books are for my kids. They’re not, I truly love and collect Dr. Seuss. I’m never growing up and you can’t make me. So there.

(Your list has a lot of books on it. Can you make a new one with just the one book you want? Thanks! ~ Jenny)

  15. Booksgiving is always my favorite. I wish I could buy for someone else this year, but things have been rough. I will pay it forward when I can. Always.

    http://a.co/a9YavP7

(Looks like someone has send it to you! ~ Jenny)

  16. Last year was really difficult for me – I never saw this event. But now I have and I’m so thrilled that it occurs! I’d love to gift someone a book (I buy all of my friends Let’s Pretend…). Everyone deserves to laugh and feel understood. Thank you for doing this Jenny!
    Link: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/3FF8TYCE7BR4Y

(Can you add a shipping address to your list? ~ Jenny)

  17. I love this. I already have and love all of Jenny’s books. I’m going to try to buy a book from someone’s list tonight.

I recently read Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center, and I highly recommend it! Such a great story about finding yourself and realizing how to find happiness in your daily life.

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3W4TLKQ8VTI1S

(I love Katherine Center. ~ Jenny)

  18. I feel dumb because I couldn’t put my name on the name part my phone is being dumb I love you Jenny!!!

  19. YOU ARE HERE! I preordered this one but when it arrived my best friend promptly took it from me and Knowing how much she needed it, I acquiesced. Now every time we meet for coffee and coloring I’m jealous of her work.

(I think you forgot the link. 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  20. I’m reading through the LBJ biography series by Robert Caro. Together it is really a history of our political system with LBJ as an anti-hero, it’s fascinating. It’ll make you somewhat amazed, educated, mad and hopefully make you VOTE!!

  21. Here is my list: http://a.co/02xhEuJ

Tonya Chaves and Tara Parsons – you have books on the way!

Happy Booksgiving to all! Jenny, thanks for making everyone’s day a lot brighter!

(Looks like your book is on the way! ~ Jenny)

  22. I can’t get my link shortened! I However, I still wanted to comnent, I think booksgiving is very kind! Thank you for the goodness you are spreading
I just found you and your books this week is a blessing because I learned this week my brain is a ‘bastard’ too. And your books are helping and even inspiring me. Thank you!!

  23. Hi Jenny! I’d appreciate a copy of this book. I’m a mom and never get to read. I’ve had a hard week and this would make my day. Thanks.

  24. I have all of your books and I LOVE them! I’ve been going through a really hard time (divorce, disability, grief & loss, mental illness…) and I think I might just have to reread them, to bring some extra laughter into my life! When it rains, it pours, and your books, your blog and my cat come to my rescue. Oh, and your writing with pets videos. They never fail to make me laugh! You are real and you are hilarious and you bring joy and comfort to those of us going through tough times. Thank you so much for being YOU. Anyhow… There is a book I’ve been wanting to read but the waiting list at the library is so long! So I added it to my booksgiving list, here is the link! https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2S82XCDMUT9TH/?ref_=lol_ov_le

  25. Is it ok to send used copies of books? I want to make more people’s days and that would help my budget go farther.

(Unfortunately you can’t usually send used books through wish lists. I wish you could though. ~ Jenny)

  26. Ginger #70
My nephew loved the Nightmare Achademy series by Dean Lorey, ALL the Rick Riordan series, and The Tapestry series by Heny H. Neff.

  27. Thank you, Bloggess for doing this. My car caught on fire last night. The fire department and the insurance company says it is supicious. The cop says it isn’t. It was 12 hours after it had been used and it was well below zero last night when it happened. I can’t replace it as I only had liability so I’m hoping to put a little sunshine in our day by getting me and the girls some coloring books/books as we are on a limited income. Thank you, again.

    Link: https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/elf7LUN

  28. I have no idea how to properly thank you on here or elsewhere, but <3 LAURA!!! #115 <3 – thank you endlessly!! I’m crying like a baby of your kindness. Love, Madeline

  29. If anyone needs reading ideas, I am re-re-reading Dorothy Gilman’s Mrs. Pollifax series. A 60-ish grandmother decides she had nothing to lose by becoming a CIA spy and accidentally gets hired as an Innocent Tourist courier. Sounds comedic, but isn’t written for laughs. There are 14 books in the series.

  30. I would love to have a copy of “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” in my collection again. I have given away every single copy (probably around 6 copies now) I’ve purchased, ’cause I keep running across poor souls that need it worse than me. Happy Booksgiving y’all!
    http://a.co/aCj36k2

(Someone already sent it to you! 🙂 ~ Jenny)

  31. I’ve posted my list and purchased 2 books – this is so fun!
A few of my favorites (lately) have been Calypso by David Sedaris, The Feather Thief by Kirk Wallace Johnson, Crazy Rich Asians, and SWELL by Liz Clark (she is amazing)!

  32. This is amazing! I need something positive to read that shows I’m not alone! Thanks!

  33. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1NA7SE5HXSS3L?&sort=default
I have all your books and would be happy to gift a copy of Furiously Happy to my sister if you want to send me one of yours, but would be interested in this one if you want to send something else.
I recently read “The Woman Who Stole My Life” by Marion Keyes and it was a lot of fun. I always enjoy her books, if anyone else is looking for something new to read.

  34. I didn’t know this was a thing! I signed up for your blog’s e-mails a few months ago, and I’m so glad I did. Booksgiving is a great tradition to do! How exciting!

I’ve added Let’s Pretend This Never Happened onto my list! A good friend of mine has recommended it about a bazillion times. I also added one book for each of my two daughters — my 9 year old just finished the first Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children book and has been wanting the second, and my 12 year old has been begging for more books from Katie McGarry. I’d be so appreciative of any!

Thanks so much for doing this! I can’t wait to spread some joy back once that tax return finally gets here… 🙂

    http://a.co/3wTgKg6

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  35. I greatly appreciate this day as I’m 82 y/o and still love to color! I’m co-raising my great-granddaughter’s with my youngest daughter. We’ve had a rough day today. In case you missed Marina’s post, I included the girls in my wish list too with books I think they might like.

    List: https://smile.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/bkMOBJp

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  36. I was SO generously gifted You Are Here and it made my day (LIFE). I would love to add my babies to this Booksgiving because I am obsessed with them, duh. Since I already received, I know this is a bit much, but I will tell them exactly where the books came from and use it as a pay it forward teaching moment. I added one book for each of them to my list.

My daughter is 11 and has OCD, anxiety, depression, and ADHD and her life has basically been hell the last few years. She is almost ONE YEAR out of treatment for OCD and doing so much better, and I added a mom and me journal for us to pass back and forth.

My son is 13 and seriously the most unteenager teenager ever. He is SO sweet and kind and he is constantly in his sister’s shadow because – hello did you read her list of diagnoses?! I added the first illustrated Harry Potter for him because he deserves some serious love and he’s a huge potter nerd and proud Ravenclaw.

    Thank you <3
    http://a.co/dp4e5uU

  37. My daughter has been searching our local bookstores for this next book in a series and hasn’t been able to find it. She’d be ecstatic if this arrived in the mail. Also, thanks Jenny for doing this every year.

    http://a.co/5sloNZD

  38. I’m so excited. I would LOVE any chance to get a signed copy of one of Jenny’s books for my non-profit to raffle off. We are getting ready for our annual fundraiser. I’m linking to our school, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to create an amazon page for us of if our director does so, I’ll just link to our school. https://www.chbcmontessori.org We are a certified non-profit.

My favorite book that I haven’t read yet is the new Faith Hunter book which comes out soon. I’m re-reading her series while I wait. Impatiently.

  39. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1DQQSM6XB7X36

I love this day! I sent strangers a book the last two years; such a fun thing to do. Also, I highly recommend reading “Educated” by Tara Westover and “Dopesick” by Beth Macy. I’ve read both in the last few months and they are heartbreaking and angering and will really make you think and feel all the feelings.

    Also, otters.

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  40. tlhowe #177 – I switched it from kindle to paperback so I could send it to you 🙂 Happy Booksgiving!

  41. http://a.co/8f3yf8b

This might be the best day of the year!!! Thank you for allowing us to give and get from each other. I love this community

(Let’s Pretend is on the way! ~Jenny)

  42. I want an otter to bathe!!!!!! They’re my favourite!
Love your books, love your brains Jenny (well the parts that don’t make you sad) 😘🥰

  43. Booksgiving makes me so happy!
I chose one book that might help me with workung through PTSD (which turned out to be quite a struggle, to put it mildly).

Please note: i live in The Netherlands, so pistage will be higher and i totally understand if you choose someone else to gift to.

    Lots of love! Tamar

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  44. Erin (#174) it won’t ship for a week or more, but your book is on the way (and looks hella good too!)

  45. And for those who don’t know — if you go to smile.amazon.com, you can select a charity and future purchases you make on Amazon using that URL will result in a small donation to your charity. So you can give back while buying books (and lots of other stuff on the site)!

  46. Your books make me laugh out loud. Everyone knows the knock, knock with the BIG Rooster….I was on a plane the other day and came across this segment of the book, and I was laughing so looouddd someone asked me if I was okay, because I was crying from laughing so hard. then I tried to explain what was so funny, and this guy didn’t get it, which made it THAT MUCH Funnier! OMG. The first time I read that in your blog, I sent it to everyone, and all laughed. BYW, even funnier than that, my husband will comment when we see any sort of rooster…he says “bock, bock, Mother F****” I keep telling him he is saying it wrong, but HUSBANDS think they are always right…. Bock, Bock for now…………..

  47. One of my favorite days of the year! I gifted Jenny’s book to four people for Christmas and will do for more here! For myself, I am just getting over the flu, a week of hell, and could use a pick me up. And for my kiddo who hated being separated from me for so long.

    Happy Booksgiving!!
    http://a.co/6BTR739

  48. I’m in the first semester for an accelerated BSN program and could definitely use more Golden Girls in my life. Thank you!

(Looks like it’s on the way! ~ Jenny)

  49. Hi #237! One of the books wouldn’t let me ship because it wasn’t allowed to be shipped from a Wish List?? But the other two are on the way!

  50. @annathebookworm2014 #179 – Happy Birthday! Your wish list is missing your address so we can’t send a book your way quite yet.

  51. I did not know about Booksgiving! How is it possible?! Buying books is one of my favorite things, and better yet as a gift! Here’s my wish list http://a.co/cE6ox8v, or You Are Here 🙂

  52. Booksgiving is one of my favorite surprise holidays. This year I’m going to give a book, but made a list too. Just in case. We can do a book-swap!

    Here is my list: http://a.co/1EId5Ln

  53. ArtfulDani #103 your book and the Frog and Toad book for your kiddo are on their way! Happy Booksgiving!

  54. Aw… I just love Booksgiving! It’s the most wonderful holiday! My favorite book recently was Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. So beautiful! Here is my list, one for each me and my two kiddos. Thank you again to Jenny for all of the love and joy you spread every year. I’m here to help moderate the list, if you want/need me to… I think you have my email address. Happy Booksgiving everyone! Link: http://a.co/csW6yti

  55. We are a large family and most of our “family time” is spent building elaborate Halloween displays throughout the year. It also teaches the children about history. Last year was pirates, this year is witches. Also our oldest son has started building and carving tombstones for others’ Halloween props

    http://a.co/in0YCEf

  56. What a wonderful idea. I love surprising someone with a little something! My list is here, but I kinda already got a gift for myself by buying something for someone earlier in the comments, so if no one touches it that’s all good. Not any of Jenny’s books because I have them all, though. 😀 http://a.co/eRq3DKn

  57. Happy Booksgiving! This is the best holiday ever 🙂 I would love a copy of Furiously Happy of my very own! I have checked it out of the library so many times when I need a pick-me-up. It never fails to make me laugh out loud. <3 http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/341516KIML9QL

(I think maybe you put the idea of Furiously Happy on your list but not the actual book? ~ Jenny)

  58. I can heartily recommend (and remember, I was a bookseller for over a decade) Joshilyn Jackson’s THE ALMOST SISTERS, and Brandon Sanderson’s LEGION. Or drop on by the Seattle Mystery Bookshop webpage. We may have closed our doors sniffle but we’re still pushing books like crazy people!

  59. I love this because I’m a book nerd! However, I’m just going to ask for Furiously Happy. I do a read aloud of parts of it at a women’s scrapbook retreat whenever I go and I’m always having to scramble to the library on my way out of town. It’s worth it for the midnight laughs. I tell a brief background of the players in your life, Jenny, usually a language disclaimer (although I forgot last week and lost someone with motherf&$c&$er) and then share a chapter. Sometimes I just read your blog posts. They love you!! So do I! But I’m a library girl for $$ reasons. Having my own copy would be a real treat. Thanks!!

  60. Anonymous #137, I went to send you your book and it’s not set up to go to you. If you’ll add your address to the wish list, your book will be on its way!

  61. http://a.co/dIhWWxP

This is the best day of the year for me. I have sent a dozen or so to y’all and I can’t wait to look for more to send off to everyone. Here’s my list 🙂

  62. Angela (#236) – enjoy your book. I survived an accelerated BSN program and feel your pain. Hang in there – it’s worth it!!!

  63. FaereWolf #34 … your very own copy is on the way! I went to high school w/ the author… perhaps I should give this book a read too! 🙂 Enjoy and Happy Booksgiving!

  64. Allyson #284, you don’t seem to have a shipping address on the wishlist (or I can’t make it work, at least)

  65. Man this is better than Festivus! Ive been looking for your Owners Manual….I definitely wish your books for everyone(ps- theyre even better to listen to with Jennys’ narration!).I am an idiot and do not know how to attach an address…duh but fun….thats me!

  66. One of the funnest days of the year. I am struggling with a bad case of the winters right now and am in a major CRPS flare, so have been doing a ton of reading. I am in Canada so it’s nice and cold. 😉 am off to look for some wishes to fulfill now – that is the best part. I’ve included a book for my dude too – he has been eagerly awaiting this book for ages.

    Happy Booksgiving!!!!

  67. I’ve wanted to get your books Jenny for awhile. I remember when your first one came out. I don’t get to buy books very often and it doesn’t help my TBR list is really long. I’ve tried to see about getting your books from the library to be able to read but unfortunately they don’t have them in circulation here. I love reading your blog and I’m sure I would love reading your books.

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2G8JEARCX4GS4

  68. Hey! If anyone is willing to send a book down Argentina way, I’d appreciate it a lot.
    Depression can be a ****.
Thank you. Promise to pay it forward when I can 💚
    Alice

  69. Alexis #128

I’m sure used is fine. I would be thrilled with used or new, and I’m sure everyone else would be too!

  70. I notice that a lot of the lists click through to “collaboration lists” and you get a little warning… this is slightly different than when James Garfield happened and it added you automatically. Keep in mind if you build this kind of list someone “joins a group” to see your list and gets a TON of emails every time someone joins it etc. Also, people might not fill your list. Just make it a publicly shared list. Just my two cents….

  71. I look forward to this day every year! I love all the Happy Booksgiving generosity! Thanks, Jenny, for engineering this brilliant holiday. <3 On here is one I’ve been book-stalking and one for my book-loving toddler girls. http://a.co/cGMB3Ew

  72. I love all of your books, and have duplicates. I would love a book that I don’t have yet. I’m asking for one of the newer Asterix volumes, because reading them makes me happy.
    Thank you.

PS: I have “My Sister The Serial Killer” on loan from the ebook library. I’m looking forward to reading it.

  73. Booksgiving is by far the most amazing holiday! Last year my daughter and I received The Little Witch to read together at night. We have read it multiple times since and shared it with others. My daughter was so grateful that a stranger bought a book for her to enjoy. This holiday gives my heart the smiles.

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/8DL1YC8AECW9

  74. This is my favorite HOLIDAY EVER… Thanks Jenny … sending books from wishlists is my favorite…. Thanks for sharing your lists new anonymous friends….

  75. Tfw you can’t find a book to buy for another because BITCHEZ BE BUYING BOOKS FOR EACH OTHER 🙌🙌
Robyn, I’ve heard you should read I’ll Be There in the Dark with the lights on, in a public place, surrounded by hired guards and a moat. Probably also an army of trained squirrels.
I don’t actually know because I couldn’t read it. I’m way too scared of squirrels.
    ENJOY!

  76. BOOKSGIVING! I don’t need a book; I’ll be shopping for other folks later when I get back from the gym, so it’s okay to skip me. But also, if you want to do an exchange, hit me up. Sometimes it is really just so lovely to know that someone else cares. You know?

    http://a.co/ezDiygA

  77. #345, The Immortalists was amazing!! On it’s way to you! Happy Booksgiving! 🙂

  78. Hopefully Amazon tells someone when the book has purchased off of their list! If not…..

your books are on the way! Hopefully you enjoy reading these books as much as I enjoyed getting to surprise you with them! What a great way to spread some happiness and goodwill!

    Happy reading 🙂

  79. I wish everyone would add the title of the book they’re hoping for!I love looking at what others are reading in real life too and I’m sure I’ve made strangers uncomfortable while trying to get a peek at their book’s cover.
I’m dying to read ( not literally) Little Panic by Amanda Stern about her life growing up with anxiety. My library is seriously deficient in mental health books and I’m not surprised that they don’t have this.

Is anyone else fascinated by the intriguing situation with the author of the mega-hit A Woman in the Window?
I personally suffer with agoraphobia so I devoured this book and loved it. The author, real name Dan Mallory, is the subject of a New Yorker profile detailing the author’s rise through the ranks of the publishing industry and the compulsive lying that propelled it. He has claimed to be bipolar. Fascinating. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/02/11/a-suspense-novelists-trail-of-deceptions

  80. Katie 325. The Fantastic Mr. Fox should be there on Saturday. I hope you and your daughter enjoy it.

  81. Aww man, I love this holiday!

I’ve read Jenny’s books, so here’s my wish … how to stop feeling like sh*t. Because … relevant title (and wish!) http://a.co/2SYUyxG

Off to shop and pass it forward…

  82. Adore this so much! Your first book was immensely helpful to me, after pulling myself out of the worst depression of my life, I am happy to say I see the happiness of life. Your second book is on my list to read! http://a.co/c5GZJCC

My boyfriend is publishing an epic fantasy novella later this month, get a free copy and do us the hugest favor ever by leaving an Amazon review! The more reviews we can get the better will be seen by others! FREE BOOK > https://dl.bookfunnel.com/507erkusjk AMAZON > https://www.amazon.com/Orphans-Price-Chronicles-Seventh-Realm/dp/1795616784/

I’m currently reading 12 rules for life by Jordan Peterson.

  83. I would love to get a copy of You Are Here sent to my daughter, she’s away at school and has recently really been struggling with her mental health (MDD, PD, ADHD). She’s a big fan of Jenny, got Furiously Happy recently and has loved it. I think the coloring book would greatly help to keep her out of her own head for a bit (and it’d be so sweet to tell her that a stranger cares)

    http://a.co/fF8RrCj

  84. It’s been a rough year and a half and The Guilty Feminist seems like it would be such a great read. Happy Booksgiving everyonel. Oh and I’m in Canada.

  85. Hi, my name is Elizabeth and my little sister has chronic epilepsy. She’s still in high school, but this has been happening increasingly for a couple years now and although she’s been really strong through it all, my heart just breaks for her. It would mean so much if anyone would be so kind to give her a pick-me-up. Thank you so much.

  86. I love this “holiday” and it’s amazing to see how awesome everyone is to complete strangers every year! <3

I don’t have a book out, but please allow me to pimp out my friend’s books. She’s written a series, and has another one (series) coming out this summer. So if you like romance with a bit of pop culture, check out her books 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/gp/bookseries/B06XSW9KMK/kindle/ref=sr_bookseries_null_B06XSW9KMK

(And I make jewelry, so if you need a valentine, “galentine”, or maybe just something for your self, have a peek)

  87. Happy booksgiving Thursday everyone!!!! This has to be the best day ever. I was so low today and seeing this brings so much joy! Here is my family’s list. Thank you for this wonderful idea. ( off to find a book for another )

  88. To those of you who requested Kindle books, how did you do the wish list? I want to make sure I did it right.

  89. I wrote a book called Bipolar Me, based on my blog of the same name. It’s available on Amazon at amzn.to/2RLU8hP. (I attended Jenny’s Blog-to-Book session at the Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop.)

  90. If anyone needs a good giggle, I highly recommend the children’s book The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. I’ve read it so many times to the grandkids (read it again, Gramma!) I practically know it by heart, and we still all laugh out loud. Another great and funny kids book is The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. This one is in rhyme.

  91. Lana Phillips 396, I do believe if you just have the Kindle book on your list, as well as an email address attached to your wishlist, when someone buys it they have “all buying options” and then they click “buy for others” when they do that it should send you the Kindle version of the book! Hope that helps!

  92. Happy booksgiving Thursday everyone!!!! This has to be the best day ever. I was so low today and seeing this brings so much joy! Here is my family’s list. Thank you for this wonderful idea. ( off to find a book for another )
Messed up the first time !

    http://a.co/d5vK9ur

  93. Krista Jasper your book is on the way! 🙂
PS. I bought the pencil case that matches the dishtowel on your list last month! I noticed after I order the book!! LOL! Enjoy!
DS Luca…I am going to read your Novella! Just bought it!
    Tracy

  94. http://amzn.eu/bjptSt6 there aren’t many books on my list these days. I dunno why. I’m not really “in the book scene” any more so I don’t know what’s good and what’s worth reading and then I get overwhelmed and kinda.. hide.

I need to dig out my copies of let’s pretend this never happend and furiously happy. I started reading the first in hospital years ago and then it got put into my home back and kinda.. lost. Whoops?
    dang hospital bags.

Of course if anyone ever finds a copy of Estralita, let me know man. It’s been out of print for decades. We used to go to the Auckland Domain to see if we could find that statue, i’ve never been sure if it ever existed or not. But gosh that book was evocotive and inspirational.

as for recomendations? I will ALWAYS suggest my favourite book of all time. The Neverending Story. Especially if you can find a copy in red and green. Oh so pretty and way easier to read.

And for kids? Oliver Jeffers did Stuck and the Once there Was a Boy series both of which are hilarious. I still smile every time I read Stuck. It’s so ridiculous.
the ladder gets me every single time.

  95. I don’t need any more books right now, but I love this tradition so I am going to go buy some people some books!!!! Thank you for wetting this up, Jenny!

  96. Yay! I love booksgiving! Here’s my link! I’m adopting and this is a fictional book that takes place in my future children’s home country! I’ll put a book on for them, too 🙂
    http://a.co/hXHNYxH

  97. Hey Jenny, i was just gifted your book Lets Pretend this Never Happened at for Yule. My friends came over, ate and discussed books and traded books we thought each other would like. My friend Rhoda actually bough me my copy of your book because she knew i would love it. I just finished it and have sung it’s praises so often on FB i think my friends are reading the book just to shut me up. I threatened to buy a case and give a copy to anyone who hits on me and say “if you can handle this, you know where to find me”. Thank you so much for being you.

  98. I read everything! So surprise me! I’ll give you my address if you email me, abankswaltz @ comcast . net
I’ve got an 8 year old son and 9 year old daughter too, up to you if you want to include them. Thanks! Happy Booksgiving!

  99. Hey my name is Kym this is my first time doing this and I want to help with people get the books they need and want. Happy reading!!!!

  100. Happy Booksgiving!

What a great day it is! This is a book I want so much but according to the wait list at the local library I will be waiting approx. 6 months. I was gifted a ticket at Christmas to see her speak in May and hope to get to read the book prior to seeing her.
    http://a.co/0foGane

  101. I would really like Furiously Happy. I just listened to your interview on the Hilarious World of Depression podcast, Jenny, and my friend recommended your book. I’m so sad I found you so late but so thankful I did!

  102. I love Booksgiving! Here’s my book, one from an author in Greenland that seemed like it needed to be read via real book. Now to find a book to buy!

Thanks for continuing to do this!

    Brit

  103. My father passed away recently by suicide. I’ve added a few books for both my mother and myself to start to be able to make sense of it all and to figure out life without him. http://a.co/3HWUoy2

  104. 18 months ago I walked out of my work and never walked back in. I spent the first of many nights in the psych unit of the hospital. I left my career. But it’s hard healing wounds that are 40 years old. I WANT to be grateful for how far I’ve come. I WANT to be thankful that I’m surviving my battle with bipolar disorder. I WANT to not be paranoid anymore. So, here goes.

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/JK6NJE7DRL1R/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_3?_encoding=UTF8&type=wishlist

  105. Link for the book I want: http://a.co/axXtwfR

Recommendation: The whole “Steerswoman” series by Rosemary Kirstein. Unique, smart, lots of plot twists. And when I say “smart” I mean this author did her homework in many, many disciplines to pull this series off.

  106. I rediscovered my love of reading last year and have been trying to make a point of reading at least one or two books every month. Since then, I’ve read some really great books and discovered amazing authors! Here are some of my favorites that I’d love to recommend:

All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr
    The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah
    Stardust, by Neil Gaiman
When Breath Becomes Air, by Paul Kalanithi
The Girl With All the Gifts (and its prequel, The Boy on the Bridge), by M.R. Carey

I’m currently reading The Silence of the Lambs, by Thomas Harris. I really didn’t like the first book of the series, Red Dragon, but I have been told the rest of the series is better, so here’s hoping! I do like it so far.

Sorry, I love talking about books.

  107. #380. Nice pun! Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone that named their book recommendation too. Happy Giving!

  108. Jenny
Several of these addresses are Canadian and free prime doesn’t work… ;(

  109. I’m late again. I want some of your books to give away to my patients. We have a small library at our center. I work with substance abuse people who are trying to get their lives back that have been stolen from drugs and alcohol. I live in Austin, Texas.

  110. So… I’ve started a “Master List” in case you are wondering “why hasn’t my list been filled?” Or, “where can I find a list that hasn’t been filled, because people are being so awesomely generous?! I want to buy people books, but don’t have time to sift through the comments!” To be clear, ANYONE can comment on this list, ANYONE! Then I can click on your comment and fix it! This is for people who love a consolidated list. This doesn’t exclude anyone, and shouldn’t deter you from using the comment board all you’d like. It is just to help, because I love to help, and I love Jenny and her community. Also, anyone can help too if they’d like. Just submit a little request on the Master List, which is public! The “Master List” is updated so far up to comment 200: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  111. I just sent a few books. I haven’t been able to cry since starting a new medication but I’ve got tears streaming down my face now. This brings me so much joy.

  112. I find it so sad that some of the lists that I had left open earlier, in the 90’s comments, to see how much money I had in the bank, now have more/different books on them then they did a few hours ago.

  113. Sarah, #20 – I have heard so many great things about Brandon Sanderson’s books! I can’t wait to read something by him. (I’m slowly working my way down my “to-read” pile, and he’s on it somewhere! Ha ha.)

  114. Sawan Tate, there’s a book coming your way. May it bring light when things seem to be nothing but dark

  115. Four years ago, I was broke and unemployed. I was lost and deep into depression, but I wanted so much to be able to buy books for people. I felt ashamed to put my name in there for my own needs. Now, I can, and I’m so excited to give someone else something special!

  116. Hi Sawan Tate (#448).
Your book should arrive on Saturday.
    I’m sorry about your Dad.
    Meredith

  117. I’ve had a really bad 2 days. Had to go in-house & it was horrible. I’m home now & at least I have a bed that isn’t a foam pad on a piece of plywood & people telling me I’m not taking my medicine when I AM (like clockwork — I’m anal about it). I’ve always wanted to read your books, Jenny. I have that one to auction for my bookstore & have been glancing at it when I can, but it’s due to go to some lucky winner, not me. I’d be grateful for ANY of your books. Especially right now.

    http://a.co/gLHEqeW

(I think this list works. I’m terrible with the Amazon list links on my iPad, which doesn’t like cutting and pasting)

(Hey sweetness. I’m sending you so much love. Can you add your address to your list? ~ Jenny)

  118. Rachel, # 429, the books are headed your way! Congratulations on the future kiddo!

  119. While we’re here discussing books, I’d love suggestions for my 12 year old daughter! She’s been asking for romance books but I have trouble finding some that are age-appropriate. Some that she’s enjoyed have been:

Love & Gelato, by Jenna Evans Welch
Love & Luck, Jenna Evans Welch
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
What If Its Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

She also enjoys reading about gay and transgender teens. I think she’s curious and working on figuring herself out.

  120. Last year was my first booksgiving, and it came around less than a week after my mother passed. This whole thing brought me so much comfort, and I love that there are so many wonderful giving people. Here is my list for this year. I have been waiting to read this book for almost 2 years now!

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/F5KC8OMXMSV7

  121. To Kristi #188….Either I am crazy ( definetly am) or you changed the last book to not being a kindle version but either way I got you! Hope your daughter enjoys! I felt so bad that the one daughter didn’t have anything coming!

  122. Bethany, #479, 2 are on the way. The other said it could be sent to a wishlist address. (??)

    Enjoy.

  123. Hi starcatbooks (#480),

I just tried to send you a book, but apparently you did not list your mailing address. Please go do that.

Do the books have to be hardback? I could buy more people books if they were cheaper, meaning paperbacks.

    Thanks,
    Meredith Weberg

  124. Jenny, I can’t tell you how many times I have bought your books for a friend suffering from anxiety or depression, or suggested it to anyone in that boat. I use your books myself to help me fall asleep (anxiety = insomnia for me). I love the idea of Booksgiving. You are an amazing human being and I am so glad you share yourself with all of us!

  125. Ellie – Thank you!!! You are spreading joy beyond just me since I will share this book but know how excited I am too!!! Happy booksgiving!
    ~Kimberly

  126. Ellie – thank you! You are spreading joy beyond me since I will share this book with my friends! I so appreciate your kindness! Happy booksgiving!!!
    ~Kimberly

  127. Ellie – you are so sweet, thank you!

I changed it from kindle format because I didn’t know I had listed it in that format until you mentioned it.

Thank you from all of us! 🙂

    -Kristi (#188)

  128. Nancy Kelly #371 it’s on its way…slowly apparently! There was only 1 option for shipping but sometime in the next few weeksThe Guilty Feminist should be at your door.

  129. Hi #416,
A book will arrive on Tuesday (or Wednesday) for your daughter.
    Enjoy!
    Meredith

  130. I want to share this amazing holiday with the kids my son goes to youth group with. We have purchased books this year for 8 people. I couldn’t be prouder of these young humans. Here is their a book I need list. Thank you Jenny for giving us such a great chance to show how wonderful it is to find community here

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/5kqu3xT

  131. Happy Booksgiving!!! What a fantastic idea. Here’s my list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2XCNZCWWSRGGN

A book I’ve really enjoyed in the past has been The Surgeon of Crawthorne. I think in the U.S., it’s called Professor and a Madman. It’s not too intellectual, but it’s a great read if you are a fan of the O.E.D.

Any suggestions for a teen that likes either strong female character leads or non-binary characters? My kid is avoiding pronouns at the moment, but would love to read something that also isn’t too age-specific – so a teen with a reading level and comprehension of an adult.

  132. Hi Onecrazykid, kiddos book is on the way. Any fellow Canadians able to pick up moms book? #297 Jenny, thanks for a great Booksgiving. Love and hugs to all.

  133. I’d LOVE a copy of Jenny’s “You Are Here”, to de-stress a bit.
Between lending son legal fees for child custody, endless medical issues and the cost of meds that go along with them, and a car that I swear is possessed with Gremlins, books have unfortunately become a “luxury” I just can’t afford.
    🙁

  134. Hi Sabrina (#393),
Both books are on the way for your daughters. Enjoy!
    Meredith

  135. Kristi #188 and the second Miss Peregrine book is shipping new from a 3rd party seller so it will be there later than the other two!

  136. #524 – Thank you! And thanks for the heads up! She’s going to be so happy when it gets here!

  137. My husband and I haven’t read “You Are Here” yet and would love to!

  138. One more beautiful year of sharing and awesomness!!!!
How amazed i am every year of this!!

  139. Happy Booksgiving!
I am a struggling Native American Graduate Student studying New Media Journalism Master’s of Arts. I am drowning in thousands of dollars in student loans
I read all of Jenny’s books. However, there is this book on Native American Journalism in the Digital Age that I really need for college and would really appreciate to receive.

    Here is Wenona Gardner’s Wishlist:

    Chi Migwetch,
Thank you very much in Ojibwe.

  140. Did I do my cart wrong or should I just figure this is like the rest of my week & go put my head in a bag? At least my cat loves me. She barfed all over my bed. Oh, and I found out my hospital not only lied to me about my psych visit, but about the fake UTI results so they cancelled the CRITICAL lumbar puncture I need done to rule out MS because my right leg stopped working and I spent the entirety of Christmas week in neurology. And now the hospital and the insturance commpany are fighting over that and they want me to pay tens of thousands of dollars. So yeah, I wanted to put my head in a bag, thought better of it, called psych, and they LIED about my visit and what they wanted to do and I spent a horrible night there for nothing.

So fuck the books. I guess the bag is better.

(No heads in bags, sweetness. Just add your address to your wishlist, okay? Sending you so much love. ~ Jenny)

  141. Hi. Check out this list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/7JZYVZBQ0XK7

My favorite books this year have been the Nightengale by Kristen Hannah, everything buy Augustan Burroughs and David Sedaris, And I love Elin Hildenbrand-she’s a little fluffy, but I love her characters. I miss them when the books are over, and wonder how they are doing after.

  142. (#521)
No, you’re not too late! Look for your book to arrive early next week. Happy Booksgiving!
    Joe (#420)

  143. @480 starcatbooks — sorry to hear you’ve had such a rough week. You didn’t add an address to your wish list, so they can’t be purchased as gifts. If you click on “More” in the upper right corner, it should show “Manage List” and you can edit it there.

  144. Danielle Lauzon, #120, please add a shipping address! Also your wishlist is currently set to being a collaborative list.

  145. I love Booksgiving! I’ve already sent three books, but I made my list wrong.
It’s all fixed now (fingers crossed) Link: http://a.co/dWaHScq
    I’m in Washington state.

    You guys are awesome <3

  146. https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/3W2TTF4E4Z9T9

You’re books and honesty have helped me so much. I would love You are here. I find that mental illness is a daily struggle, but we are here!

I gave my copy of furiously happy away and hope it keeps helping others.
    😁

Also I am freezing my ass off in the polar vortex of Canada right now.

  147. Hello, I’m @393. Thank you so much for the coloring books for my girls, they will be so excited! Hugs to all!

  148. I broke my leg today so it looks like I’ll have lots of time for reading!!!! Lupus and all of its side effects suck!!! Off to buy some books, this is so much fun!!🦄

  149. Thank you Jenny!! Im so excited to own it 🙂 I read the copy at the Holbrook AZ library so many times before I moved and have missed it more than the town! Lol

  150. Last year I was having a rough time and there was a book I’d utterly fallen in love with and couldn’t justify purchasing for myself. Thanks to someone on here, that book sits on my shelf and I have read it several times and love it still. There’s nothing I’m needing this year-I work at a bookstore now, I’m good!-but I’m lucky enough that I can give to others.

Also, y’all like books, check out “The Library Book”, by Susan Orlean. It’s the story of the worst library fire in US history, but also a love letter to libraries and books and how important these things are and it gave me so many feelings, y’all.

  151. It’s so stupid that I can’t stop crying tonight. Yesterday. Today. Tonight. And then I find out about this. I am stupid that I own a bookstore and can’t afford to buy myself a book. I can’t afford to buy new books for the store (haven’t for weeks) because we’re in the middle of fundraising & I keep ending up in the hospital. And now the insurance company wants over $30k for a 1-week stay with 4 MRIs, 2 CATs and multiple other neuro tests. And they still don’t know why my right leg stopped working on Christmas Eve. So yeah, here I am crying over a book that I want to cheer me up. And apparently either my link (#547?) is wrong still, or the cat was right about tonight when she barfed all over my bed and I’m bedbound and can’t clean it up until my husband comes home and does it for me. My life, let me show you it. I can’t stop crying. I hate mental illness.

  152. I was number 408… and I dunno who purchased it for me, but I just want to give a very heartfelt thank you. My spouse started transitioning about a year ago and it has been a very emotional journey. I saw someone fulfilled it within just a moment or two of me posting it. I just want that person to know it really warms my heart. I look forward to reading it with my spouse, and being able to laugh and cry our way through the book together.

  153. Hooray for Booksgiving! Here’s the list for my children, ages 8 and 9, who are both voracious readers http://a.co/eW7EfPR

We’ve participated twice before, both giving and receiving. It’s so much fun! My kids love that some stranger cares enough about their reading to send them a book, and they also really love picking just the right person to send a book to.

  154. Happy Booksgiving! My request is a travel guide to Quebec. I am taking my 80 year old mother there this summer to celebrate her birthday. We have never been to Canada and are very excited about going. Link: http://a.co/cuE6bKU.

I hope I did this correctly. I’m off to buy a book for someone else.

  155. Wow! So many completed lists so far! If you haven’t been gifted check out this Master List link and read the notes next to your post number, you may be missing a piece of information on your wishlist, and everyone wants to help you! Also, I’ve already come across a few “refilled” lists. Please don’t re-fill your wishlist, so that others may be gifted! I’ve deleted those lists off the Master List.
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  156. Ok – so in true fashion, I was so excited that I forgot to say that I’m from Canada # 562 – thank you, and sorry 😉

  157. Thank you to the Anonymous person (Post 392) who bought the books for me and my great-granddaughters! The two older girls are so excited! It was hard to get them to sleep tonight as the oldest is going to a school event tomorrow where she got a grant for snowboarding! The baby/almost toddler got excited because the other two were excited. She loves to be read to as well! This day that started so horrendously is ending so gratuitously. (See posts 145 & 199 for references). Thank you again! <3

  158. #586, this Doc doesn’t go up to my listing, which is #547. Can I assume this is why I’m crying?

  159. @starcatbooks – you originally posted on 558 – your list is there. Hang in there – plenty of people still discovering the thread and sending out books 🙂

  160. Oh, cheesus. Just realized I wrote Bookmas instead of Booksgiving. Can’t even get my literary holidays straight. The excitement of sharing books was apparently too much for my brains!

  161. A note on Kindle Books: Be sure you include an e-mail address on your wishlist or in the “notes” section of your book so that someone can gift it to you!

  162. Happy booksgiving! I have two book recommendations- In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan, for teens and pre-teens, and Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood for adults. They’re both laugh-out-loud funny, and touching, and clever and entirely wonderful.

  163. Serine, My posts aren’t on the master list. I changed the format of my book to a paper copy and added a book for my daughter, did this mark my list ‘refilled?’
    #255 and #560

  164. Folks — please remember Jenny’s rule: The only rule is ONE BOOK PER PERSON ONLY ON YOUR LIST, with the exception being if you have a child and want to add a book for them too.

I know it’s hard to pick just one title, but let’s help make sure everyone has a chance to be gifted a book.

  165. Thank you Meredith!! I missed your comment, but was looking again and saw you were the one who gifted my girls. Thank you!!! May booksgiving bestow blessings upon you 🙂

  166. My original comment with my list (375) isn’t on the master list, and now I’m paranoid that I’ve set the list up wrong and it’s already been filled but the book hasn’t disappeared off the list yet, and I don’t want to take away the joy of books from others and end up with multiple copies of mine, especially since I can’t really afford to gift anyone else this year (which is a little heartbreaking, but I keep reminding myself I can always make up for it in a future year when I’m in a better place financially). So does anyone know how I can verify that my list is set up right?

  167. Jess Rickards 608 — check to see if you have “Don’t spoil my surprises” selected under the Manage List settings — if you do, you’ll still see the book there even if someone else has already purchased it.

  168. Comment #446 here, I’m not sure who bought me my book already but thank you! You have really made my day <3 <3

  169. Serine23 Thank you for doing the list I thought I had made my list public (post 145). And someone bought the girls books through my mom’s link (post 199).

I would appreciate Jenny/The Bloggess’s Coloring Book myself if anyone is still interested in buying it for me, please. It helps take away the stress! Thank you.

  170. This is such a cool thing to do! I have all of your books, Jenny, – got the last one I needed for Christmas. My favorite book recently is The Hating Game. It was so funny and cute.
I have a book I’m interested in and another for my Little Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters. Her family doesn’t have a lot of extra money so I’d love to surprise her with a new book.

  171. Jennifer #611 thanks! Looks like I have it set up right, phew! I must have just gotten missed on Serine’s pass through the comments, which is completely understandable in all the chaos of need and generosity that lives and breathes in this community. I would far rather get nothing than take something away from someone else who needs a little light in the darkness too!

  172. I have tried and tried, and can’t get the list to post here! The only book I had on it, from last year’s giveaway, was You Are Here.
This makes me crazy, but I’ll get a book for someone else..

  173. Serine23 – I just saw your google doc. Thanks for putting that together. So much easier to find someone that hasn’t been sent a book yet. I told myself no book buying until I read everything I already own, but I’m breaking that rule to buy a couple people their books!

  174. i have all of Jenny’s books and a pile of books waiting to be read – i am just happy to pay it forward to someone else this time!!
Melissa, the book on empathy for your classroom is on its way!

    Happy booksgiving!

  175. Okay, managed to find a few bucks for such a worthy cause. #296, your book is on its way!

  176. This is my book wishlist. I’m sorry I dont have the “spoons” to make a whole new list today. My migraine is really kicking my butt. Happy books giving and thank you for doing this every year. I look forward to it so much!

I have all your books and have given them as gifts, they really helped me through my (ongoing) divorce this year. Looking forward to fulfilling a couple book lists tomorrow when I am hopefully feeling better.

    Nina Potts book list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/9QHA2X5MGKCW

  177. I did put in a shipping address but the format I choose for my book was “Kindle”. I hope that’s alright. I love the Community that you’ve built here Jenny.
I’m proud to be part of your tribe!

  178. Moolene 628 for original post 600. Thanks! Updated on the master list as well. Which is here folks and updated all the way through. I’ll do it again in the morning. Remember ANYONE can comment on the master, or ask to join and moderate. If you fill a list you can even comment on there that you filled it, and it will get deleted! Hope it helps a little:

  179. Happy Booksgiving! Hope I’m not too late to join the party; I worked late at the library tonight. 😊

  180. Cleared out some more fulfilled lists, and duplicate lists, you don’t need to re-post 🙂 But do check your details, LOTS of Kindle books without e-mail addresses to give them to. Also, found a certain person changing names and reposted their list about 6 times. They are NOT on the Master List. Here’s the list once more tonight! Happy Booksgiving! To bed!
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  181. Also, Jessie 643, gotta give such a cool book to someone working late at the library. I fulfilled your wishlist! G’night!

  182. I kind of feel like I might suck for putting myself on this list, partly because I could buy my own book. Partly because Jenny, you get me through more really hard moments than you could possibly realize & having yet another gift from you seems like tempting the good-things-really-do-happen gods, but it’s been a crap year (since last Nov) and the idea of having something you sent right to me… wow. More than that, having my DAUGHTER (who thinks you & I may have been separated at birth) get something sent from you? Well, her happy face is my joy, so… So I’ve decided to be selfish.

FWIW, the other books that make me laugh (in a different way from yours, but still laugh) are those of Lisa Lutz, who is a comic mystery genius and whose next works I anxiously anticipate. If any Jennians (what do we call ourselves? Jenny Heads? Furious Happiers? Unicorn Wranglers? I kind of like Jennians because it sounds like David Tennant might show up in Converse & that great brown coat & ask us to dinner) are interested in laughing, recognizing their more addictive selves, and delving into a good mystery, I recommend any of the Spellman Files books.

    Thanks y’all.

  183. Sorry, inadvertent duplicate postings–531 & 533 are same link.
So happy to participate–just bought a book for someone’s kid!

  184. #584 Debbie in AZ – I think my mom must have brought me your message so you & your mom could have all the great adventures & stories & memories we did. Bonne voyage. And lots of love to you both (and my thanks for making ME feel better tonight!). xo Jane

  185. I’ve been reading “ how to fail at almost everything and still win big” by Scott Adams, I highly recommend y’all check it out

  186. 667 Chris – unfortunately the link is broken. Make sure to click onto the specific list before copying the URL. The beginning of the link should look like this: https://www.amazon.com/xx/wishlist/. What you copied there is your default Amazon view.
The Master List is up-to-date through 667. I went back and updated the notes for a lot of entries — many lists are missing a mailing address or email address (for Kindle): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit#gid=0

  187. So, Jane (#655) is having a rough day. I said that a book was on its way to 584, who is Leah, instead of 585, who is Debbie. So I figure it’s a sign from God (AKA Jenny Lawson) that both Leah AND Debbie need books.

I also forgot to put my book list link into my post, because it’s that kind of day (read: month) (okay, read: year. Because Nov. 2018-Feb 2019 has been at LEAST a year, right?) So here it is:

    https://amzn.to/2WXRft8

Thanks to everyone who’s making me feel happy that there are generous people out there, and to 584 & 585 for making me feel happy that I can bring a little spontaneous happy to someone else.

  188. #669 Jane – your listings are showing up as “ideas” instead of the specific product. You’ll need to go back and add the specific book listings for someone to be able to gift them.

  189. I’ll give it a try since I couldn’t find another way: I read both Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and Furiously Happy in English and loved them, and I would LOVE to gift them to my friend in Russian (she doesn’t read well in English or French). I couldn’t find a link on amazon for the books in Russian and I’m not even sure of what their title is. I live in France and I know shipping cost may be high, so I’m not asking for them for free, just if you could point me to a link to buy them. Any help would be appreciated, and thank you Jenny not just for organizing this booksgiving, but for writing your books in the first place 🙂

  190. Not sure my other link was working, so I’m trying again.
    Love this idea so much!!

  191. #681 Kimber — it’s still inviting us to collaborate. Copy the link from your browser – don’t use the “send the list to others button”.

  192. Last year, I requested more than one book, because one of the titles was an obscure, used book, and Amazon was requiring people to jump through a lot of hoops to buy it. But I think some people saw two titles and skipped over my list, because they thought I was being greedy. So I’m sending a book to Heather (#41), who also requested more than one title. (She appears to have set up her list to send a portion of the proceeds to the Smile Foundation.)

Here’s a link to the one book I’m requesting:

    Link: http://a.co/hqqAZGl

And if you want to read a really good children’s adventure novel, I recommend The Extremely Inconvenient Adventures of Bertie Mettlestone by Jaclyn Moriarty.

  193. #373 here. I don’t think I had a shipping address but i’ve added one now.

  194. This is the coolest thing I have ever heard of! Jenny, you are the coolest. I was introduced to your work by listening to Furiously Happy on audible and was laughing and crying so many times throughout it. Would LOVE to own it so I can read it too. I related to it in SO so many ways. Mental health stuff can be a bitch. But I claim my crazy like no other. Without the poles of life, we’d all be plain. (ha…subtle bipolar joke…hopefully it landed…) Anyway. I’m not sure I did this Amazon wishlist thing correctly, but here’s a quick go at it.

    http://a.co/gvtkseV

Also, if anyone wants to explore my blog, the link is: http://www.emilyalma.com — I’m not a super frequent writer, but I enjoy it. 🙂 Random musings of the ups and downs.

  195. I don’t need a book, but this is such a wonderful thing to do! My mother, at the age of 84, wrote a sweet book about my daughter’s rescued cow. Wonderful story for the kids just starting to read, or great picture book for the younger ones. Please check it out. Mom has passed now, but she wanted as many kids to learn about Bessie, and the joy of caring for an animal, as possible. She donated her book to libraries all across western Maine. She was a very special lady.

  196. 373 here again. My listing on the master list is in black. I’ve checked everything twice, not sure why?

  197. I’ve been wanting to get You Are Here for what seems like forever! I ordered a signed copy of Furiously Happy last month and am so excited for it to ship! http://a.co/blydBtA

  198. I always love giving and receiving books during Booksgiving! There’s just something about getting a surprise in the mail of a book you’ve been eyeing, especially after a really crappy couple of weeks.

    http://a.co/it3fesf

  199. We just created a new book club for friends, and the first book we read of 2019 is Let’s Pretend this Never Happened. I have to say, I have followed your blog and Twitter streams for years, but the books had us all rolling (and bonus – I introduced a bunch of friends to your work!).
    My booksgiving wishlist:
    http://a.co/4ei4BrI

  200. Booksgiving!!! Love the idea…. Hopefully next year I can figure out how to participate lol. I don’t know how to link my Amazon book wish to this blog.
Have fun everyone! It’s rewarding to see the kindness spreading around here!

  201. Between January 1 and January 28, I lost my father (undiagnosed glioblastoma), my 13 year old cat, and my aunt (Alzheimer’s and multiple myeloma).

I could use some help grieving.

    http://a.co/9n9pTDF

  202. I know there’s a duplicate, Serine, but the number you say is a duplicate is one I can’t find on the master list to delete. Unless I’m completely blacklisted. Please clarify. You can delete that duplicate.

  203. Last year I received a book and this year I gave one. Love this.

Gigi- thanks for the recommendations for older kiddo books! We’ve read Riordan but had not heard of the others- can’t wait to look into them!

  204. Serine, you have me in black and not sure why still. I culled my list and left only one book per the ‘rules’ (none have been purchased), my list is public, my address is linked, and the corrected link from original post #399 is on post #577. Am i missing something?

  205. Mel (746), you’ve done all that right, except it is a collaboration list which means anytime someone clicks on it, they join a group and get a slew of emails whenever anyone else clicks on it. So rather than “share” (see how in the link it says invite) do this: On your list to the right of your title is something that says “Send list to others” click that, and it will provide you a new link. Post that to the board and I can fix it on the list! Easy-peasy! Or at least, easier than it sounds…

  206. Happy booksgiving, everyone! I’m a huge Disney fan and some generous people here have helped to expand my Disney library in the past years. I treasure the books even more because I just love that we’re all buying gifts for strangers this way. I could buy this book myself, but I’d rather go buy a book for someone else and see if someone else wants to send some pixie dust my way! (And if not, no worries — there are certainly many people who need this a lot more than I do.)

    http://a.co/6ElhXRS

  207. How can we see purchased items on someone’s wishlist? The option isn’t there on the Amazon website anymore. I love looking at the books other people have picked!

  208. Heather (post 53) I have tried to buy your book several times “Humans of New York” but for whatever reason the price changes as soon as you put it in the basket…. it said $8.65 but when I add it, it changes to $15.85, then it changed to $17 about 5 minutes ago… just letting you know. I’m not sure if there is anything to be done about it though…

  209. Let’s try it again. My original link didn’t work because I am not technically savvy. Which is why I like books. You don’t need technology to read them. Well unless it is a e-book which feel totally different in your hand.

Thank you for doing this. It is an awesome idea. You really are an inspiration. Whenever I am having a day – my favorite daily mantras – Depression Lies & Pretend you are good at it.
Thank you for those words to help me through…life.

    Link: http://a.co/g3BY3iV

  210. Christy Genta (#539) Your book is on the way.

Thank you to Jenny for creating and using her blog to host Booksgiving and thank you to everyone making it happen.

I am so honored to be a part of such a loving community.

  211. Yesterday was a no good dirty rotten very bad day. I could use a happy. Here is a link. Email included incase Kindle is easier but I think the paper back is cheaper so my address is activated too. http://a.co/1juFTzQ

  212. Even though I read each of these a couple years ago, Denton Little’s Deathdate by Lance Rubin and Born a Crime by Trevor Noah are two of my go-to recommendations when people ask. If you want a slow burn romance, Kulti by Marie Zapata was one of my favorite books I read in 2018.

P.S. If you haven’t signed up your amazon account to smile, do it! I donate to special olympics because I work in special education and these kids make me smile, but there are many many charities you can donate too!

    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/305F3AWYS9G8S/ref=cm_wl_huc_view

  213. I love Booksgiving!!

I have two books on my list, one for my younger sister, and one for myself since we both share an Amazon account to pool our library 🙂

I haven’t put an address on the list since both of us prefer eBooks over physical – it’s just so much more convenient!

    http://a.co/1twZVGU

Now I’m off to buy more books!

  214. Sarah @342 your book should be there tomorrow. Happy booksgiving! ❤️❤️🥳🥳

Thank you Jenny, you do such an awesome job of making this happen. I’m having a bit of a flare of several things this week, so I don’t have much energy, but I just wanted to thank those people asking for books and those who give them. It’s a joy to be able to give something, when you don’t have many spoons, giving like this is such a blessing. I feel so lucky to be able to contribute because I feel so restricted in so many ways. I also love reading that people have been given what they asked for, it is an absolute joy to read the exchanges.

One thing I noticed is that people seem to need to justify asking, by saying they gave other years etc. You are not less because you ask! It only works if there are people asking. I suspect I’m not the only one who feels like they can’t do anything and then finds this one small blessing.

So I’m asking, late to the party I know, because although I don’t need a book, I would like one, and I like the thought of someone buying one for me. http://amzn.eu/0809LtM Bless you all, you awesome bunch of people.

  215. Hopefully I am doing this correctly. A sick child, a disabled child, and their caretaker would greatly appreciate a book to brighten their day and keep their mind off the sadness. I put one book per person and a note on that person’s name, hopefully that was correct. http://a.co/awxicnm

  216. Just cleaned out the Master List (that shows the status of all lists) again. 6 more completed and filled lists! Yay! This is such a beautifully generous community, as we see with Booksgiving and James Garfield Miracle, both created by Jenny. It is such a lovely thing to open your mail, receive a book, and know that someone out there loves you, sees you, hears you, is thinking of you. I count 150 lists that are up-to-date that need love and to be fulfilled 🙂

  217. The list for our amazing group kiddos Is attached. They worked hard over the past month and we shared some booksgiving love with a few luck people with great books! The kids paid for the books we got people and I couldn’t be prouder of them! Anyone able to help some teens/little ones out this booksgiving who would love to experience the joy of a community that gives and supports! Thank you again Jenny for this wonderful holiday! There are 10 books on our list one picked personally for each kiddo.

    http://a.co/iEA82MC

  218. Hey Serine! 764 here.

Do we need to place a comment on the spreadsheet to get added to the list? Thanks for compiling all of this! 🙂

  219. I am not 771 after all, and this is the last time i’ll ever use annonymous states because wow it’s confusing. my ACTUAL number is 696 and it appears to have been taken care of.

  220. @Serine23 Can I be taken off the black list ? Didnt realize the crayons were on there ! I thought I added them to a different list for remembering. Sorry !

  221. OK, I will not point fingers, but we do have a scam artist among us. You are absolutely free to give to anyone directly on the comments board, but I DO encourage you to use the Master List, as they are not on it. This is a good way to make sure that your money/effort goes to someone who is receiving/giving in the spirit of Booksgiving. Also, as a reminder ANYONE can comment on the Master List (this is a little black dialogue blob) you can even say something like – filled list 22. Etc. Here’s the list again:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  222. I posed this post with a broken link :(. Here is our original post with new link. Sorry for the confusion

  223. My sister is a mom of 6, so she buys books for them, and hardly ever for herself. I know she has quite a few on her list, and has promised herself that she gets one new book with her tax returns this year, so I thought I would submit a book for her this year (I don’t need one), and help her get two new books.

    http://a.co/5Re2pFR

  224. For thriller fans, I highly recommend Taylor Steven’s latest book Liars’ Paradox. I also recommend her Vanessa Michael Monroe series: The Informationist, The Innocent, The Doll, The Catch, The Vessel (a novella that’s Kindle only), and The Mask. Happy reading!

  225. To whomever bought for me, 778. Thank you so much! You are an amazing person. MUCH love to you (without invading your space or anything awkward.)

  226. Oops…(i got my number wrong on the previous post)
To whomever bought for me, 728. Thank you so much! You are an amazing person. MUCH love to you (without invading your space or anything awkward.)

  227. Serine23 I messed up my link (591) posted it corrected at (605) saw it wasn’t corrected on the master? Was something else wrong?

  228. Ducky #65 – I couldn’t send your book to your kindle, perhaps someone can tell us how to manage it.

Julie F #335 – same deal, couldn’t figure out how to send your daughter’s books to kindle, but your book will arrive Monday. I loved it, so I am very happy to send one to you!

  229. I’m laughing so hard right now. Not because what someone has done is witty- believe me; it’s just ugly. But I think I fell for it (laughing face laughing face laughing face laughing face). 😂

  230. JenniferNennifer there is an email address in the item notes, then you can click to buy the Kindle book, and select to send to another person and put in their email address. That Ducky one at post 65 is missing the email address. You can see it on the Master List in the notes section… Thanks!

  231. Guess I’m a little late to the party, but here’s my list! And for the most incredible (and hardest book) I’ve read recently: The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk. Thanks! http://a.co/4OYFO48

  232. I want to shake some pompoms here and go “Rah! Rah! Rah! Go Team Jenny!” some more lists have been filled albeit slowly. Remember to give, and that special feeling of opening your mailbox to discover a new book, clutching it your chest, smelling those pages… or that Kindle 🙂 It’s really about the joy of GIVING.
Here’s the Master List, up to date through post 824. It shows the status of all the lists!
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  233. How do we get Jenny on the Ellen Show? This is a fucking awesome idea. Not only is Jenny spreading the love of reading and creating a culture of generosity. Thank you and thank you Serine23 for helping.

Seriously back to the Ellen idea. How can we help make this happen?

  234. Stacey Gudelis Anderson, I’m so sorry you fell for it… we have one particularly clever person who has done some awfully tricky stuff to get onto the list, and shared some very adorable stories. Remember, if you did fall for it, you can cancel the order. Don’t let it discourage any of you though, 99% of this group loves Jenny, loves books, and is doing good!

  235. I sent Ducky #65 the ebook yesterday — her email address is in her post here, so I think it didn’t come off her list since I entered it manually on my end.

  236. Melanie Elizabeth at #123 & 760 – your book is on the way. I do have some techno savvy, but books just feel good in the hand. Enjoy

  237. Victoria, let me know if you still Melanie Elizabeth’s book in your cart as the list still has her book on it… Thanks for being so giving!

  238. I just read a wonderful thriller, The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena. Highly recommend!

  239. Marriage is hard. A friend went and saw a sex therapist and that guy said this book was TRANSFORMATIVE and AMAZING. So it makes sense that it would be both wonderful and bizarre (bizarrely wonderful?) to receive something so personal from an absolute stranger. Let’s survive midlife together?
    http://a.co/c9LIuNU
(Also – totally posted this comment on the wrong post the first time around – so that will add some intrigue? WHOOPS)

  240. Grammy #830 Your books are coming in two separate orders, the kids book may take a little longer but its on its way. Enjoy!

  241. Serine I fixed the link in post 777 for original attempts in 399 and 577 but still black and not updated on your master list. Pretty sure it’s all correct now.
Thanks for all your hard work on this! Emma’s book ‘Hilda and the Hidden People’ should be delivered Sunday 😘

  242. Here’s my book request!
    http://a.co/6B1YzFb
It’s a book by a young transgender author. Any transgender or specifically non-binary book suggestions (authors or content) would be so appreciated if anyone has any!

  243. Having such a hard time right now with anxiety. Getting to the age where it feels like my body is falling apart on a daily basis and it scares the snot out of me. I have an upper endoscopy scheduled later this month. (Apparently I have “silent reflux.” On top of everything else. Because when it comes to diagnoses, I seem to have a Pokemon, collect em all approach.) Waking up with nightmares and panic attacks ever since I scheduled the procedure.

A book I really need right now is Wise Women : A Celebration of Their Insights, Courage, and Beauty. To remind me that there is an upside to aging. My link: http://a.co/58jfY9a

  244. I believe Booksgiving and all things Jenny are awesome, but I find the event a little overwhelming so I tend to watch from the sodelines. That being said I want to thank everyone for the wonderful titles i have added to my on-going potential library books list. You all have some of the best suggestions of any book list i have ever found! 😊

  245. I’m correct at 817
601 wasn’t filled and thankfully not. It was for a kindle, which I do not own.
No need to be sorry- we never know what people are going through that leads them to do such things. I hope whatever is going on there, my book helped. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  246. Is there really a better way to get through the winter blues than a beloved book? Furiously Happy is one of my favorite books and yet I still don’t have a copy for my collection. I’m a day late so I may have missed the mark, but thanks, Jenny , for continuing to put light and love into the world! It looks like quite a few book orders have already been fulfilled, but I am excited to go through and send out some “Valentines” orders for a few of readers above! Happy Friday, everyone!

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1K2RE001CTT2A

  247. Mel, post 846, I got you corrected now. Sorry I missed your correction back at 777! Also, thank you for Hilda for Emma, she will love, love, love it!

  248. Whoops, I forgot to add my email address!

I’ve added it to the list itself, but to make sure I’m posting it here as well iread78 AT yahoo DOT com

    Happy Booksgiving everyone!

  249. Hi Jenny,

I don’t need a book right now (I mean, I always need books, but I have a lot right now), but I just wanted to let you know that I was finally able to get You Are Here – and it even arrived right on Booksgiving Day! It is beautiful. Thank you so much for being here.

    💜, Also Jenny

  250. Serine23, thank you so so much for the masterlist – I had one question however

I noticed that some of the lists have been colored green. Does that mean that they have been filled? Or that they have been correctly formatted?

  251. Serine23 – #787 and #812 are both me. I don’t know why it shows a different name.

  252. Happy Booksgiving!
I’m new to the blog, but already love the community here. I just read and identified with (parts of) and loved both Jenny’s books, and am looking forward to re-reading them when things get tough.

Here’s my wish list for You are Here! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/0B2Rn7T

Oh, and #858 Danielle- hope you enjoy Furiously Happy! I loved it!

  253. We are a previous post. Our link isn’t on the master list and none of our kiddos have received a book. We have 10 books on our list. One for each kiddo. If I need to make separate lists for each kiddo to fit the rules I can. Figured one list was easier tho. We have cleared a list or two and I’ll go in and see if there’s a list or two more I can clear. Here’s the link again.

    http://a.co/0usOwPx

  254. Thanks Serine23 for taking this on… so super organized. I’m corrected at 782 and now… I need to send a couple more 🙂 Hey Tess–867– happy reading!

  255. What a lovely idea! I already have “YOU: An Owner’s Manual” and “Furiously Happy,” and I’m sure I’ll pick up the last of the three on Kindle at some point, but I LOVE hadd copies of books about book art, so with much difficulty in deliberation, I picked this one. If you have one on the same topic you absolutely adore, feel free to overrule my choice – it’s hard to tell without aeeing them in person! But yes, book art things with more innovative structures and/or interactivity than just bookbinding… SWOON. Please feel free to get a used copy if you decide to send to me – I would just be happy to receive aomething lovely in the mail during a hard time I am struggling financially but am going to find someone on the list whose choice I can manage, because this is just so neat. <3 https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1AYC1AQSZ797S

  256. Sarah #816. A book off your list is on its way. Don’t know how to comment on the google doc.

  257. Angela 871, to be clear you are not on the list because you have continued to change your list, actually LISTS, as well as NAMES on the board. Plus you are deleting them. Then re-building them. I wouldn’t point this out, but you are very persistent to get more. Please follow the rules.

  258. @serine23. I’m not exactly sure what exactly your talking about. This is the ONLY list I’ve posted. We changed a few books to be more affordable but not for any other reason. Not a single book in this list is for an adult and these kids paid for several books for others as part of the holiday as well as I have cleared several lists too! :(. We have done this every year for 2 years and never once had this experience. I will find a way to clear our kids list if this is an issue but we love this holiday and I love Jenny and this community just the same.

  259. This is the first time I’ve participated in Booksgiving, and honestly, it made my whole week. Thanks to Jenny, and thanks to everyone who’s participated! <3

  260. Hey Shannon–877– it will get better. That book will help. Enjoy and happy Booksgiving!

  261. @Serene23 I couldn’t seem to find my name on the master list, and so far my books still seem to been in my Amazon list. Is there any way to be added to the document? My original post was number 427. Also, you’re a rockstar for putting that together!

  262. annachronism – your list is empty! If you have “Don’t spoil my surprises” checked under manage list, you’ll still see your books (try adding one to your cart – should get a popup alert)

  263. Apparently reading directions is not my strong suit, I’ve added my address now. I’m at #401, thanks Serine!!

  264. Taylor #886 Thank you! I’m so glad that I found this today! Reading the comments and seeing how many people are struggling but also seeing how kind everyone is has really helped my day.

  265. Fixed mine 🙂 Wasn’t asking for all of them — just any one of them, but I edited the list.

  266. I love love love to read – it’s an escape for me. And I so love you Jenny because my brain works (or doesn’t as the case may be) like yours. Due to that and physical problems, I cannot work. I am reliant on disability benefits which rarely allows for new books. Thanks to Jenny for Booksgiving! And to anyone who sends a book to someone else. You rock!

    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1OFZ7WRUITHWS/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1?_encoding=UTF8&type=wishlist

  267. Someone named Melissa will be getting a surprise on Sunday. Enjoy! Jen, I didn’t know if we needed to let you know. I’m in the 580s, so her post was before mine. 🙂

  268. Jennifer (#889) That’s it! Thanks for the tip. Mystery solved. Even with “Don’t spoil my surprises.” I STILL managed to spoil my own surprise! XD

  269. 379- a book is on its way… its seems that your address is quite a ways away, as it says it should be there by Mar. 6, and Prime wasn’t an option. I hope your sister enjoys it!

  270. Serene23 – I believe I added a comment correctly to the master list for Comment 92, as Jenny has noted above that she purchased it already. 🙂

  271. Desirae van de Sandt #308, your book is on its way! This is Kelly #614
(I wasn’t sure if you saw my earlier post.)

  272. Serin23, I fixed my list (#776) and added the email address in the comments of the books

Thank you for putting it all together!

  273. Anony #237 – The final book for the kiddos is on it’s way!

Serene23 – Thanks for putting this all together! I put comments on the master list that the final book was purchased. 🙂

  274. #699, you have two books on the way! I don’t have prime, so they’re taking a little longer, but they should be there in about a week 🙂

  275. Anonymous #762 Thank you so much!! ❤️ Please know your purchase is very much appreciated!

  276. Serine 23, you are still an angel 🙂 x

OK, I went through the UK lists, and tried to comment on the master list, but couldn’t, which is probably down to my tablet, so have to update here:

33 Anon (Liz), when I put the book in the cart, it tells me it’s a duplicate list, so it looks like someone already sent it, yay! Did you check “Don’t spoil my surprises?” Cos if you did, then it will stil show on the list even when sent. If you didn’t check it, then it might have accidentally got stuck in someone’s cart, making Amazon think it’s a duplicate, so holler if that’s the case and Ill send it.

418 Purple Monkfish – none of your books are Prime, so can’t be sent.
    748 Kimberley – filled
    778 Jo – filled.

    Love you all xxx

  277. Hi Missy–I don’t think the problem is your address. It looks like you have too many books on your list. You may have one for yourself and one for your child.

  278. OK, playing catch-up on the list now… I had to go to the store! So talked with the other moderator and we’ve moved all of the GREEN lists that are ready for filling to the top of the spreadsheet and the ones in need of information in BLACK to the bottom. This should make it easier to fill wishes, and amend your lists that are missing information! Stick with me for about 30 minutes while I keep updating and then get new folks added!

  279. I may be a bit late, but I thought I’d add my list just in case. I lost my job in May and still haven’t gotten a new one…no matter what is in the news about the low unemployment rate, I’m sure not seeing those effects. I struggle with serious mental health issues anyways, so trying to pick myself up by the bootstraps is not working. I thought this book might give me a little more motivation to kick some ass. I also added a book for my 7 year old son. He has always loved girl things (dresses, My Little Pony, etc) and has never let others weird reactions phase him. Now that he’s getting older though, he’s starting to realize that he’s different and I want to give him as much motivation as possible to stay true to himself. He also has mild cerebral palsy and wears a brace, so he has some unique challenges. I say if my kid can go through MRIs, EEGs, Botox injections, braces, casts, seizures and so much more, I’m gonna let him wear the dang dress.

  280. Missy originally post 876, I’ve got you on the list in the green section. Thank you Misty for helping Missy. You can leave one for you and your son.

  281. @Teresa Merrigan #888 Happy birthday my friend! You have 2 books coming your way.
Your friend Kelly,I was Kelly #623 then I registered and it changed it to my full name.

  282. OK, so, the Master List is fully updated, woot! If you are late to the game that’s the list that shows the status of all the lists! All the GREEN lists at the top are ready to be filled, the ones in black at the bottom have problems 🙁 So, the good news is I just cleared out 12 more lists, the bad news is there are still 143 unfilled Green lists and 154 “bad” lists at the bottom, check your lists folks. Remember the beautiful theme of giving! Back at James Garfield Miracle we tried valiantly to fill all the lists and this community did an amazing job. Go, go, go! Rah! Rah! Rah!
    Master List Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  283. Serine23, I’m sorry, I didn’t think that maybe you only want mods going through the list until after I’d finished, but I went through all the black lists in the sheet and marked which ones had been updated. I didn’t look at the ones without shipping addresses because I wasnt entirely sure how to check for that.

I hope I didn’t mess things up too badly!

  284. Anonymous (937) and anyone else, you are welcome to comment on the Master List, please do!!! I can use all the help I can get! Thank you!!!! You can click on the little black bubble at the top of the list with the little white lines to place a comment. Yes! Comment! Not just Mods. Mods are just helping delete and keep it all honest 🙂 Thank you!

  285. @Serine23 went through the black list and commented on those that have been culled down to one book! 🙂

  286. Hello again Stitchress! Yes, you can put a book for yourself and your child(ren) just make a little note so people know who’s who, like son, age 4, etc. Thanks for double checking! Thank you again for being such an amazing Co-Moderator for James Garfield Miracle. Also, great opportunity to give a big shout out to Jennifer Schaefer for helping co-moderate Booksgiving! My hero!

  287. Thank you -T and Simmi for being so kind to the list in black at the bottom by seeing who has updated their address and culled their list. So helpful!

  288. Okay, friends! Here is a tiny reminder to make sure you have an address attached to your list! I tried to buy Gone With the Wind, but it would have come to my house instead, and I already have one.

I made the mistake of assuming that by setting up the wish list, it would add my address by default. It does NOT. You have to go in and modify your list and attach the address. The default is NONE.

  289. Wait, I found it becomingcliche. Emily’s I remember her talking about the movie. Emily, add your address. Moved to black for now…

  290. So… I keep wishing this were like a drinking (lemonade) game and every time I say Master List someone has to buy another person a book. Ha! I have 4 helpers on the board right now, so I’m going to bow out for a bit to do bedtime for my kids. Updated through 950. Keep up the giving! Spread the joy of books to the Jenny community!

    Did I say Master List?
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  291. @serine -Hey, I’m giving up. My list on Amazon (2 books- May have been 3, so I took 1 off) May or may not be showing up as ideas because it still says that on the Master List but it looks like regular plain old books to me when I look on Amazon. So I tried deleting the list & making a new one I’m #669) but when I try to send comments to figure out what I’m screwing up I don’t think the comments are going through EITHER. I think THAT is because in a land far ago & a time far away I thought I could write coherently & had a blog, and now WordPress is using an email address the password for which I forgot at LEAST 3 antidepressants ago. So, recognizing that you probably haven’t received any of my messages; my list appears in some ghost format that only I can see; the word god’s are wreaking their revenge for my attempts to blog under the influence of youth & research; and that I’m out of ideas for fixing this, I give up. I’m going to go shove my face in a pillow until I pass out 1 way or another. Ugh. (I also can’t change my name/email address on WordPress because I guess there’s already an account with that email address . Mine? Another jbuckley100? Who the hell lnows. I think it’s Gods way of telling me to stop leaving wordy comments.) THANK YOU for all the hard work you’ve done for us & for Jenny & for making the world a much better place for at least a week!!

  292. Hey Anonymous #953 (Jane I believe?) – just post your new list here and I can add it. The comments on Google Docs are a bit tricky.

  293. I’m phiguru at 646. I checked and I think my link works, it’s public, my address is attached (and I put a Kindle version on my list anyway.) So why am I on the master list as broken/bad?

    Sorry & thanks!

  294. Thank you for Furiously Happy! I’d love to have Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I live in Canada. I’m a (self-published) writer: two novels in the Meg Sheppard Mystery Series: “What Happened to Frank?” and “Over Frank’s Dead Body” available at amazon.com and amazon.ca.

  295. I just noticed I somehow posted my book list 3 times, I’m new 😮. My book list is under the name Kelly (Gooch) then I registered and now it’s Casinokelly. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

  296. @casinokelly — you actually posted a Collaborative list. Can you please give us the link from your browser, not from clicking the invite button?

  297. I am currently enthralled with Lost Connections: Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression and The Unexpected Solutions by Johann Hari. Big fan Jenny. Both books got me through last year, one of my worst thus far in this life. Your Instagram, blog & sweet pets get me through the hard days & make the good ones that much better. Thanks. Thanks so very much. #booksgiving #thankful
    https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/17JAFSDDDHLJ

  298. I’ve just filled all the ready-to-go Canadian lists (since my Prime works here!); Stacy (125), Sara (139), Elizabeth (530), Nad (562), Sarah (704), Julia (827) and Isabelle (851) all have books on the way! Now to do a few of you from south of the border 🙂
Deicha (178), although you’re list is marked as green in the master list there was no gift address available for me to send to!
Big thanks to Serine and her collborators for moderating the list – makes it sooo much easier to find the working lists!!

  299. Thank you to the Anonymous People that bought books for my girls, my mom, my sister, and I. You have no idea how much it means to us! The 5 y/o and 9 y/o had nightmares last night. The 1 y/o has no idea what is going on and we try to keep things calm for her. These books will be certain to bring smiles to their faces and know that there are some good people in this world! Thank you again!

  300. My sister Marina just let me know that my she forgot to include Jenny and Serine 23 in the Thank you’s (Post 972)! Thank you to the two of you as well as the Anonymous people that bought books for our family! It’s been a crazy 24 hours for us! I’m trying to help my sister and mom long distance. This Booksgiving is just the thing to help bolster our mood! Thank you, again!
    Sandra

  301. Iain 971, that is so awesome of you! Way to show the giving-spirit in Canada! You inspired me, I’ll fill one too 401 Jenny B, wishlist filled!

  302. That one worked! But it’s still empty lol , I think some clever kitty bought me Furiously Happy despite myself.

  303. Kelly #773, thank you very much, this really brightened my day at a much needed time ❤

  304. How have I been following this site for 10 years and missed this completely? I must be in space. Anyway, here is my list: https://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/GQ1GLKYHPV3K.

I’d like an otter (I actually collect otters – not live or taxidermied ones! – and do have a completely separate Amazon list for otter only products), but I understand that shipping one would be quite difficult (sea otters can be particularly onerous) and probably highly unethical.

  305. Hi. I am confused. My wish list is now empty. It previously had a kindle book. However, I have not received any book and it does not show anywhere if someone bought it. Help

  306. I’m really late to the game this year.
I have been really sick both physically and mentally this month so far and have needed many moments of self-care to try to get through this really tough bout of depression. It’s hard to get out of bed or even eat.
Here’s my list for everyone. I probably have too many books on it but it’s just to give ideas, I’m not expecting them all. Also I love used copies so I don’t mind all options.
I’m hoping to be able to pay a few forward this weekend when I get paid.
Don’t forget to breathe and podcasts are everyone’s friend. Makes you feel just that much less lonely.
    https://www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/21Q3NZV8PJUKB/?ref_=lol_ov_le

  307. Allegra @924, thank you. This is the first time I’ve asked, so I didn’t know how excited I would feel about it, but you have made a few moments of joy in what has been a tough week.

Meg @993 your book is on its way, it will arrive by 1st March. I won’t tell you which one, so it will be a surprise.

  308. Linda #900/991 Looks like it may have had multiple books on it at some point. Since there’s only one book there now, it’s been moved back to the green, you’re good. 🙂

  309. Okay, #197, you’re in Australia, and mai friend has just paid for your book. Should be there for Feb 12, but obviously I’ve no idea how accurate that is.

  310. Jenny, I don’t know how you do it but you come up with just the best ideas. Giving is so much more fulfilling than receiving. I don’t have a ton of money but knowing that what little I can spare can make such an impact to someone I don’t even know warms my heart and soul. I participated at James Garfield time and now Booksgiving and I can’t wait for next year. I bought four books today- which I could have purchased for myself as I might on a random day, instead I sent them to someone who will ramndomly receive a gift from a stranger letting them know the good in the world and especially the magic in books. Amazing.

Serine, thank you for tackling the organization— it exhausts me just to think about it and then you went off to take care of your kids… superwoman!

  311. I’d like to recommend a book that was of amazing help to me when my mother passed. I was quite young and very lost, as my father had already passed several years earlier. It taught me more about loving myself, taking care of myself, having compassion for others, and it truly touched me deeply. It’s by Alice McLerran, and Eric Carle illustrated it…The Mountain That Loved A Bird.
It’s really a child’s book, but such a powerful message within the story, I continue to recommend it to my adult friends.
Thank you all for being here <3

  312. I just checked the google docs sheet and my list is on there as not following rules or other problems? I don’t know what I did wrong. If someone could help that would be great so I can fix it. Thanks 🙂

  313. Hello! Same as the person above, my list is in the black section, but I’m not sure why. :/ I’m #873, under the username iwasayingboourns. Any help to figure out what I’m doing wrong would be much appreciated! I have what I call GriefBrain these days and am not always so on top of things mentally. 🙁 My list only has one book and should be set to have my address attached to it…? Thanks so much!

  314. #781 you have a book on the way. Sorry I couldn’t afford to buy the whole list but hopefully someone else will buy the last child book on there.
I hope at least the one book helps

  315. Good morning! Kathleen post 1005 your list has too many books in it. Jenny says one book. Please update your list and you can comment here or on the spreadsheet and I’ll move it to the green! Happy Booksgiving!

  316. Wenona Lee Gardner 992 that is very strange. Well… no one can delete your list. Do you have the “purchased” feature on? Perhaps they bought a book accidentally? If they bought the Kindle book you should have received an email notification. Did someone buy for Wenona?

  317. Such a weird thing! A couple of days ago I saw a film which reminded me of a lady who was in the news a few times when I was young, and I thought her story would make a great book. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember her name, so I didn’t manage to start researching. Fast forward to today, when I got in from the first time I have been out for non-medical things this year, and there was the package from you. As I took out the paper with the gift note on, I saw your name, which is the name of the lady I couldn’t remember (barring an extra ‘n’ for her). It’s not a common name, so how much of a coincidence is that? You’ve now made my day several times over. Thank you,

    Jo x

  318. Mary 462 – I can’t thank you enough for this! I can’t guarantee I’m not going to fall again, but I sure as hell will get up. 🙂

  319. I’ve been working on updating fulfilled lists in the green section! It’s so exciting to see so many awesome books! I’ve added about 10 more to my personal wish list that I didn’t even know I needed 🙂 Happy Booksgiving everyone!!

  320. Thank you anonymous person who sent me my much wanted Anthony Bourdain cookbook! Can’t wait to start reading it. Yep. I read cookbooks. 🙂

  321. @906 Your Wonky Donkey is on it’s way! I hope your little one enjoys it as much as mine do 🙂 Your other book is not on Prime though, could you try to find one on prime? That will help people to fulfill your list 🙂

  322. Heather #707, y’all have books headed your way. Happy Booksgiving from one cookbook lover to another!

  323. Happy booksgiving Solveig@327. Sharing is awesome. I hope that you get the full joy of reading this wonderful book and then enjoy sharing it with your friends and being able to talk to them about it. It should be with you between 21st Feb and 8th March.

  324. Serine, thank you so much for setting my mind at ease. I got really nervous after I finished for some reason (stupid brain) and just wanted to double check with you.

I’ve just made another pass through the black and I think there are some more people who can be moved up 🙂

(I was the anonymous comment at 937 – I was on my phone and for some reason my name didn’t load with the comment)

  325. #646, from one Kindle reader to another – your book is on it’s way!

    Happy Booksgiving!

  326. Tracy Tull post 1048, check out the rules and description set out by Jenny at the top of this blog post. It’s easy-peasy. Make a new list with one book, and a shipping address. Share the link, it’s to the right side within your list. Good luck!

  327. For those of you that have circled back and repaired your list, thank you! The other moderators and I are sifting through the comments at the bottom and moving them up to the top. A few fulfilled in the last couple hours. Keep up the good work of giving! Remember how special it is to receive, and to give! Books smell as good as lattes, or pie, but last longer 🙂

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  328. #665 The Girl and the Fish, if you’re still around and haven’t sent out your 5 copies of your book, I’d love to read it.

  329. Missy Crsytaldi (716), someone just pointed out that you wrote your physical address on the list, rather than in your settings, which doesn’t work… can you fix that?

  330. Hi I am #196. Serine kindly helped me understand my issue. I had my book listed as an “idea” rather than a “real” request — which is why when Jenny clicked on it, my list showed up empty. (Jenny, you left a comment it had been purchased.) If anyone still is looking for a giftee, I am #196. Enjoyed sending four of Jenny’s books to others!

  331. Jess #26, I see tracking says your book was delivered. May you have many happy days of excellent food while you #eatserious 🙂

  332. When not getting picked to receive a book reminds you of eating lunch alone locked in a stall in the girls bathroom….45 years ago. Some feelings never die. Or it’s only me and everyone else is mature?

  333. Anonymous 1058 … that is a sad sentiment indeed. You know I remember at James Garfield how the Jenny Team rallied to get that list trimmed down to ZERO! Hundreds of wishes were filled! It is a good reminder that is not the asking and receiving, it is the giving that feels so good! Let’s show Jenny Lawson the love, by showing each other kindness! Anonymous 1058, I don’t know know which list is yours, but I WILL give again! You are not alone, and even if you feel so, remember we can be happy for others who have been fortunate to receive. You aren’t in the bathroom alone, you just haven’t been invited to lunch yet. ❤️

  334. I received my book today! I was #90. Thank you so much Robin! I hope you see this. You truly made my day.

  335. Thank you Librarian Jesse! I received my copy of Furiously Happy today! And It made me furiously happy. I use the library religiously, it is my friend.
    Thank you again
    Kelly

  336. Christina (sorry I can’t remember which comment number!) your daughter’s copy of Dear Evan Hansen is on it’s way!

  337. Anonymous 1058.. Please check the master list and make sure there isn’t a problem with your list. I promise one of us would gladly send you something. You’re always welcome to come eat lunch at my table!

  338. I want to thank whoeversent me You are here. I have wanted it since it came out but coulnt afford it. I just received and i love it. Was comment 6339

  339. Karin #253–Your item is a pre-order so it will arrive sometime in early March. Enjoy!

  340. A bunch more people now have books on the way (some slowly as I went for cheapest shipping so more of my budget goes to books): Cheril (62), Ryan (73), Cassie (105), Jess (375), Jen (411), Kylie (412), forthekiddos (260), Amanda (229), Amy Marie (264), Missy (876), Jen (960) and Kate (1026).

Anonymous 1058, I’ve still got budget for a few more books so if you can let us know which list is yours I’ll get it filled.

  341. Iain #1072–Thank you!! It was kind of you to send it and I appreciate it very much–you made my day!

  342. Iain #1072 Thank you so much! It’s so great to watch lists dropping off of the master list, and you made a real dent right there! This community always makes me so proud to be a part of it.
(And purely selfishly, I”m #375, so thanks for getting mine, I’m excited to receive it! <3)

  343. Iain, thank you! I will pay this kindness forward as soon as I’m able.

    Kate (1026)

  344. We are down to 90 up-to-date wishlists! Lots of Jenny Lawson books up there (and so many purchased!), every Jenny fan needs those! I do notice that a lot of the more expensive books are lingering, people tend to buy two or three $10 rather than one $30 book, but there is still hope and lots of generous hearts here! I wish I could buy them all! ❤️

    Master List, again:

  345. @ Jen Haldeman #1079 there’s no address attached to your list – you have to add it so I can send you Furiously Happy!

  346. bookaholic42 all the lists in the black section at the bottom have problems including Jen’s just so you know. The ones at the top in green are repaired. Thanks for letting her know too!

  347. Serine23, thank you so much!! My sister and I are both squeeing over the book right now! 😊😊

  348. Serine23 I just tried to send Anonymous #378 on the list but there’s no address attached 🙁

  349. J, #204. It arrived today!!! Absolutely LOVE it. It’s much different than I expected and I am so thankful!!!! May Karma smile upon you!

  350. Kimber, #678, thank you SO much for my book! It arrived today. I tried to send you a thank you via Amazon, but the QR code was cut off. I hope you see this…

  351. Dear All

I am a DV victim who was forced to leave my personal library behind. I want them back in my possession. If anyone here can help me with that could you please, if its okay with Jenny, post a reply here?

  352. Oh my word, thank you so much to whoever fulfilled my list #554. You have no idea how much this means to me, My husband has been going through some struggles and this week was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It’s been terrifying to watch my best friend, provider, and father of my 6 month old daughter break down. So when I saw that my list was fulfilled I honestly cried like a baby because this was just the thing I needed. Thank you so very much, with all my heart!

  353. Post 1093 (Domestic Violence Victim), I don’t want your post ignored, but I also don’t know that this is the correct venue to ask for help. Do call the National Domestic Violence hotline 1-800-799-7233. They may be able to advise you on your personal belongings. I do not believe that this group/board could help you with such a large undertaking. This is a book gifting exchange. Best of luck getting the help you need. I hope you get lots of support.

  354. Thank you Jane Kaddouri! I can’t wait to receive my book and share it with my Mom. I hope that your kindness and generosity returns to you a hundredfold in the coming year. Thanks again!

  355. Jo, is it the Yorkshire lady that lived alone in the middle of nowhere? Cos I get that a lot 😀

Check this out: (mods, not a list)https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seasons-My-Life-Hannah-Hauxwell/dp/140913623X/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1549790512&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=Hanna+hauwxwell

    A.x

  356. Stitchress, your items are coming snail speed shipping as I don’t have Amazon Prime. Thanks for all you do. x

Anon 1058, I see you, and I want to be on your team. Can you post your list comment number? x

  357. I have recently read “Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things,” and I just loved it. It is the first time that I had ever laughed so loud throughout the book that my wife kept on asking “what’s so funny?” And I just had to tell her the short version. Jenny, I feel like I have to call you on a first name basis because I feel we’re bff’s, thank you for bringing joy and also light to mental health a better lighter way. You are an inspiration Thank you, thank you, thank you!
P.S. sorry for being repetitive. Seriously thank you, you brought me a smile in difficult times.
P.P.S. Completely forgot, here is my list: Hi. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2MGBEKC7EYW9C. I hope you read this comment!

  358. Allegra You are amazing! I am so excited for the kids I didn’t tell them the books are coming yet! I just took some from their personal lists I keep on amazon…we are hardcore book lovers! <3 <3

  359. My Mom posted at around comment 700, so this is a repeat! My Grandmother wrote a book about my cow. She adored the cow (Bessie) and would call me for updates on what Bessie was up to so she could entertain her friends at lunch. We all pitched in to help her write the (actually true) story of my cow. She passed away shortly after we had the book published. Her wish and dream was that “kids everywhere can read about Bessie”. With that in mind we have donated dozens of copies to schools and libraries around Maine and elsewhere via friends and family members. If you have no one else in mind, please consider buying a copy https://www.amazon.com/BESSIE-LUKE-Story-Grandma-Call/dp/1519316658 and giving it to a child or donating it to a library. All of the profits allow me to keep donating copies myself. *I promise that it is written with the parent in mind- it is not painful to re-read out loud over and over. I hope that some kids out there ask for it over and over, and they love my cow as much as my Grandma did.

  360. Question…I’m not on the green list, and not on the black list, but as far as I can see, my wish has not been fulfilled. What do I do?

  361. Thanks Serine23. I think I fixed it. And thanks to Karen who may have tried to Booksgive but may have been thwarted.

    http://a.co/9KwOzCL

Getting a book would restore my faith in humanity right now; it really would.

  362. Anonymous 1115 ok, I checked your list and address. You are in the green. But I must say about your choice of book, I LOVE “Uprooted” by Naomi Novik, and “Spinning Silver” her books are blissfully sweet escapism. I recommend them to anyone!

  363. Arrgghh. Post 1115 was in response to post 1107 about my incorrect link that I posted in 1103. I am 1103 and 1115 obviously a computer illiterate. So, three’s a charm :

    http://a.co/9KwOzCL

  364. Thank you Serine23. I’d never buy it for myself but it seems lovely. Please feel free to delete whatever extraneous posts I have lying around and thanks for the Booksgiving heavy lifting.

    Best,
    Anon 1103 et. al

  365. I just sold some of my yarn on Ravelry to buy a couple more books. I was telling my husband how I just want people to get a book! He gave me a hug and I thought, giving a book is like giving a hug to a stranger. I can’t really afford anymore books, I as always, went waaayyyy over budget, but I’ll keep moderating!!! I hope it helps.

Anonymous (Kerry) 1115 You get a book!
Jessica P post 265 You get a book!

    Master List: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  366. @Serine you are a doll! I just love your spirit so much! <3 I am on Ravelry too, but am out of yarns to sell hahaha I love going over the list and coming on a list that is fulfilled! I get all excited like I discovered a prize! Your list makes everything so easy, thank you so much for all your time and effort to get so many people books!

  367. Hey Michelle, ok, the link on 1016 is broken. It just takes a person to their own wishlist. So when you are on your wishlist to the right of your description is a little funny symbol and the words “send list to others” when you click that it will give you a handy little link. Use that! Then re-post it here and we’ll get you on the list! Thanks for following up!

  368. Anonymous 1102, thank you so much! My son will be so excited when he sees it!

    Rachel R.

  369. Yikes. I am few days behind in this! I’ve just started dating this awesome person, and we had a total discussion about you, Senora Bloggess! We both have ADHD, and love your posts. He deserves one of your books! Why? The other night when I went to sleep he got up AND DID MY DISHES FOR ME! Yup. After years of online dating disasters, so impressed. Thanks for keeping me in the game. Loves.

  370. 793 your list is empty so a book may be on its way
798 Jennifer Roman I was going to buy the book but there is no address on your account to send to.
1121 Allison your book is on its way should be there Thursday

  371. Thank you so much Mel!
I just came back here to pick another person’s wish to fulfill. I just spent the last hour and a half reading the James Garfield Miracle post. I had no idea that existed! I saw it mentioned here so I went looking. Wow!

Anonymous 731, your book should arrive Tuesday!
Crystal 660, you should expect 2 of the books Tuesday, and the 3rd on Wednesday.
    Happy Booksgiving everyone!

  372. I received my book today, thank you! There wasn’t a slip of paper that had a link where I could send a thank you online, so I hope my Booksgiving Angel sees this! I was comment 520 and received Legendary by Stephanie Garber. I’m so thankful to have received it, thank you again!

  373. So surprised to receive my book today!! Thank you to Iain for being so kind! And to Jenny for organizing this!! Much love!

  374. So surprised to receive my book today! Thank you to Iain for being so kind and to Jenny for creating this!! Much love!

  375. Oh yeah, I also meant to say – Jenny, I am relatively new to your blog, and only bought and read all your books after the last year’s James Garfield miracle, but I am so glad I did. Not only are you a cracking good writer, but my daughter also had a seriously dangerous brain, and your books have been helping.

Second thing I meant to say – if anyone is looking for a good book series to get stuck into, and you like skiffy and/or history, check out Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St Mary’s. She’s like a cross between Connie Willis, Dr Who and Terry Pratchett. And while you’re at it, if you don’t know Connie Willis and Terry Pratchett, then I really wish I was you, because I could have that experience of reading them for the first time to look forward to 🙂 Not that any of them suffer on re-reading, because really, they don’t. Quite the opposite. And I should know, done it enough times 🙂

  376. Michelle (post 1131) and Crystal can you confirm this list is filled, as far as I can see one adult one teen on list unfilled still. Perhaps still in a cart?

  377. Lots of Kindle books still missing email addresses as well! We can get there guys!

  378. I too am way over budget this year (since my budget really was kind of zero, but books! Books for strangers! This is important!) but I dug between the couch cushions and made one more happen.

Noella, #309, your book is on its way!

  379. Serine- re: post 1139- her list was partially filled. There were 5 books originally, and I was able to gift 3.

  380. #966 A book is on it’s way (though no prime, sorry!)

Thanks to Jenny for the books and for the booksgiving holiday!

  381. Anonymous 1146 you need to make a note of your email on your kindle book on your list. I’ve put you in the black section on the master list. Let us know when it is repaired. Thanks.

  382. Anna, #1094, your list was posted as a collaboration list, which means you can’t view it without subscribing to it and getting a bunch of emails. Instead of clicking on “invite,” please click on “Send list to others” and post the link from there in a new comment so it’s publicly viewable. Thanks!

  383. Long time reader, haven’t commented in ages though. Thought it would be worth a shot. Love you, Jenny. You’ve helped me through so much of life’s bullshit. <3

    http://a.co/8IlrUrc

  384. Jackie #363 your books are on the way.

Unfortunately this will have to be my last fulfillment as I’ve way overspent my budget. Happy booksgiving everyone! Keep on giving on!

  385. Brilliant Mel (1156) way to go out on a high note! I hope there are still some people giving! The list just dipped down into the 60s, but went up a little when a few people joined. If you can still give, do! If you have been lucky to be gifted, consider giving! It’ll make you feel good! I am hopeful that the Jenny Team can really knock a dent in that number!

    Master List:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  386. I just want to thank whomever sent me my book! I got it today and I appreciate it so very much! THANK YOU!

  387. Thank you everyone for giving! I have this bookmarked to come back when I earn another gift card from these surveys that I do. Happy reading!

  388. I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Jenny for supporting such an incredible community of humans and to Serine23 and the other moderators for keeping the book list so clean and up to date! This was my first Booksgiving and it truly brought me so much joy. I just received my book from Liz (#860) and was in awe of receiving such a gift from a complete stranger. Thank you!

I fortunately had the means to gift two books with this paycheck, but plan to come back in two weeks when I get paid again (if there are still outstanding lists at that time) to gift a couple more. There is just something so satisfying about clearing someone’s list! I can’t wait to see the master list continue to shrink and I hope everyone is having a wonderful Booksgiving!

  389. Sorry, 1169 is Elizabeth, not 6uu. The name thing went wonky and gave me a fit. I’m going to go curse technical crap for a bit, then read posts. 🙂

  390. Elizabeth, #1169, your list was posted as a collaboration list, which means you can’t view it without subscribing to it and getting a bunch of emails. Instead of clicking on “invite,” please click on “Send list to others” and post the link from there in a new comment so it’s publicly viewable. Thanks!

  391. Abby Taylor, #1164, your list was posted as a collaboration list, which means you can’t view it without subscribing to it and getting a bunch of emails. Instead of clicking on “invite,” please click on “Send list to others” and post the link from there in a new comment so it’s publicly viewable. Thanks!

  392. 701, 705, 883, 1099, 1163, looks like you all have books coming! Keep shrinking that list, guys! Let’s get books out to as many folks as possible. 🙂

  393. SusanB, #1176, your list was posted as a collaboration list, which means you can’t view it without subscribing to it and getting a bunch of emails. Instead of clicking on “invite,” please click on “Send list to others” and post the link from there in a new comment so it’s publicly viewable. Thanks!

For future list posters, if the link has the word “invite” in it, it’s the wrong link. 🙂

  394. Yes, the very one. Thanks for the link, I’d got as far as Wikipedia. She was an awesome lady, so a good person to have as a namesake.

  395. Jo @778 – thank you so much! I literally twirled round my living room after the parcel came through I was so excited 🙂

I just went to your wishlist and sadly (or happily!) your book has already been purchased (or at least I can’t see anything on the list) – but I do want to give back, so if anyone in the UK still has a book on their list with prime delivery available, watch out! A book may be winging it’s way to you soon

  396. 1093 and 1097
Dear Selene, thank you. I realize that this is not the right platform, but book lovers read it so maybe someone can help.

  397. 1153 Mary Thomas tells me it’s a duplicate gift at checkout – looks like someone already filled it 🙂

698 Anon (Naomi), your list is filled, expect them by Friday.

  398. Okay… just a couple more! I cant seem to help myself 🙂 437 Mary Kate and 454 Mary– your Jenny books are on their way! Happy Booksgiving!

Great way to start a Monday!

  399. My neighbor told me about this, and the JGXM. I tried to get the books during the JGXM, but we were grinched as someone said they purchased them elsewhere and sadly that wasn’t true. I know I’m late, I don’t have my own computer, just thought I’d put this up in case anyone was still gifting. Thank you for organizing this.

  400. Hey Anna (comment #1094); your book should arrive on Thursday (2-14). Happy Booksgiving! 🙂

  401. @1191 it looks like your books are purchased, did you make a new list? If they said purchased in December it will stiil look purchased. Can you make a new list?

  402. The master list is AWESOME. PLEASE, Serine23, do this for JGXM. You are able to be blunt where Jenny might be too nice (i.e., list is too long! Book added–explanation?) And constantly updating the list to who has not received a book yet. You are an angel! Jenny, you are lucky!

  403. I’m late to the party, but Chelsea (594) and Linda (900), you have books coming your way. Enjoy! I love this so much, thank you Jenny.

  404. Hello everyone new here and continuing to follow. We’re in the 60s on the list, yippee!!! Wouldn’t it be lovely to shrink that number? If you haven’t given, please consider giving! It feels great to make someone’s day! Here is the Master List that shows the status of everyone’s list. It should answer your question if you have any issues:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  405. ALLEGRA- I now have my shipping in the comment section of my wish list, but I will put it here too.
    23822Winterhawk Drive
    Caldwell, ID 83607👍🏻😀
Thank you so much! That is the only book I don’t have, and me and my mom really, really love her and can’t afford it ourselves. (We have my elderly uncle logging through radiation treatments for lymphoma living here, and my stepson, just diagnosed with schizophrenia.)
Thanks again in case I receive one! 🙏🏼

  406. Serine23 – The party may be over, but I thought I would let you know that I do not appear on the spreadsheet. 🙁 Robyn #826

I hope everyone is reading and enjoying!

  407. Robyn #826 and #1207, you’re not on the list because someone already bought your book. You should be enjoying your reading soon. Also, the party isn’t over!

  408. Allison Scruggs – so, it’s still not working. Go to the Manage List on your wishlist, and add your address there, also make sure to click the little boxes below that a 3rd party can ship it to you etc… then save. Thanks!

  409. Serine and Allegra, I made it work to try to ease your load. I can’t comment on the google sheet, I think it’s my tablet. Anyway, Allison has a book on the way.

  410. Original post 1191, I have made a new list so that it isn’t confusing the JGXM incident, unfortunately, someone had already done the same thing to my list right after I posted it..someone here went and clicked “purchased elsewhere” so my list showed already purchased. I just spoke with amazon customer service, none of my books have been purchased. If anyone would really like to help my grandsons, I will leave my link here, I’ve had the elsewhere option removed by amazon customer service. Thank you.
    http://a.co/iKuTznZ

  411. So glad there are still people there being kind and gifting! Yippee! The joy keeps going as long as people keep gifting. Do use the Master List (though you are free to fill lists from the board as well!). It really helps reduce the scams. Remember ANYONE can comment on the Master List too! Keep the love going if you can! The list has almost dipped into the 50s a few times!

    Master List:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  412. @1191 Anonymous Your list doesn’t have a name? I’m sorry you had that happen with amazon, I know there were more than a few people saying the same thing around xmas time in the JGXM thread. I hope someone can help you with your books. Make sure you have all your information on the wishlist so any books that are bought are sure to get to you.

  413. Anon 1191/1213, so sorry that happened to you. I was only able to get the book for Andrew, but sending love for you all with it. You should expect it between 18th and 21st. Thank you for not giving up.

    Jo 1212, you are a star. x

  414. Xate @ 1215 Your book will arrive around 21-26th Feb, it looks like an interesting one for my partner! I hope you enjoy it and find it worth the wait.
Migraines are evil, I have had them incredibly regularly and usually for a few days and nothing helped for more than two years. Now I use cbd oil and it seems to have made them less frequent and shorter. I hope that you find a way to heal or minimise yours.

    @Allegra, likewise. x

  415. Jess Rickards 608 Thank you, thank you for the book! It just arrived today and I love it! <3

  416. Thank you Allegra! I know Andrew will be very happy. These boys lost their parents last fall and came to live with me, they spend a lot of time playing that game since I don’t have a computer at my house.

  417. @Jo 1223 <3 thank you!

i’ve had chronic migraines since early childhood (they didn’t believe me then, though, so i didn’t get help until i moved out on my own) and nothing works so far. i don’t know what the oil is you mentioned. but i react very strongly to smell, so if it that type of natural remedy it wouldn’t work for me. glad it is giving you some relief, though!

  418. @ xate It’s an oil that you take. It comes from the cannabis plant and you can get it at lots of different strengths. In some countries it’s legal to buy, in other countries you have to get a doctor to prescribe it and in yet other countries, it’s legal at certain strengths. I could use a higher strength than I am allowed here in the UK, but even the low strength has made a difference.

  419. This is the BEST IDEA EVERRRRR!!!! I’m job-hunting right now and keeping my spirits up is much easier with a daily dose of Jenny Lawson! 🙂 Thanks for reading and blessings to all!! http://a.co/0Iwn46w

  420. Folks, I in no way want to dissuade you from being generous with whomever you please. Do and give as you like! But I will say that the moderators are suspicious of certain posts recently. Remember to check the details when you buy, if something seems very vague (like their name for instance) be wary. Also, so many folks haven’t even received a $10 book, let alone asked for a lot of expensive ones. We have worked very hard to weed out the scams, and know all the wishlists. Heck, I still remember many of the lists from James Garfield! I have re-combed last years JGXM list for certain details as well and things don’t match up… This particular list has lots of expensive books, that details keep changing on, including quantity, name, and other personal details. Don’t stop giving to people, but do be cautious!

You don’t have to use the Master List, but we do have your best interest and your money at heart:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  421. Serine23, I suck at this stuff- and you are awesome for being nice enough to help me through. My 19 year old rolled her eyes and helped me out. It’s on there!
I’m going to go find someone to buy for now- it’s less stressful LOL

  422. Elizabeth 1169, please provide a new link. Just go on your list and click that little wonky share thing to the right of your list description and give us the link… my kids can out-tech me many days!

  423. Sydney #1200, I absolutely adore YA fantasy and read more of it than anything else. Would love to check out your book if you want to get in touch with me at moonlight69 at gmail.

  424. To Kelly (@1201)— THANK YOU! I’m so excited!
And thank you to Jenny for Booksgiving and everything else you do.

  425. I know I’m late – just got in the headspace to sift through all the comments. I did my own personal Booksgiving tradition of buying one copy of each of Jenny’s books for someone (plus an extra) before posting anything for myself. If anyone out there is still looking to share the love, here’s my list:
    http://a.co/hJc3pZE
Thanks to Jenny and to all on here! I love this holiday! 🙂

  426. This is a re-post of #1176. I mistakenly picked Jenny’s book for sale by a 3rd party. I fixed that. I hope. Like I said, I’ve been having a hard time and I just want to color.

  427. I’m late to the party, but here is my dream-book. I’m an adjunct professor and make devised theatre with my students. We read poems for inspiration/jumping off points, etc. and Anne Carson is my all-time favorite. I’d love to have a copy of this book for myself so I can stop hoarding the school library’s copy. Y’all are the best. <3 http://a.co/gZTdk5t

  428. SusanB, #1176/1242, the new link just goes to the product page for You Are Here. Can you share the link to your wish list? Just go to the top right of the list and click “Send list to others” and give us the link that pops up in that box so we can get you added. Thanks!

  429. Susan, #1176, my bad, we had the right link for you in the master list. You Are Here will be there by Wednesday!

  430. Anonymous 156, someone beat me to the rest, but your book is now on its way too!

  431. To L – thank you so much for the books for me and my Little Sister! I can’t wait to give her the book for her birthday and tell her that a stranger was kind enough to buy it for her!

  432. Had a great day, so decided to gift another book! Anonymous (Tara?) @ 307, your book will arrive on Wednesday. Happy Booksgiving!

  433. I see what you mean Serine! But I’m actually going to let it go through, and they can still have my love and best wishes, and may they do with them as they see fit 🙂

Only a shame that it could have been Jenny books for three people, but you know what? People should leave the wishlists standing, because I’m coming back at the end of the month, after payday, and sending out some more book love.

Thanks for looking out for everyone xx

  434. Allegra, that’s really beautiful. I’m touched by your generosity. In honor of Allegra’s generous spirit, I’ll give one more book. Even though I reeeeeeaaaalllly shouldn’t. Anyone else want to match me? Allegra has really embraced the generous Booksgiving spirit! And so many kind people! Dianna alllll the way in Australia (post 999) I bought your Book. Happy Booksgiving!

    Master List:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  435. Allegra, you rock. I’ve spent nearly $100 filling lists over the past few days (probably more than I should have, oops, but worth it) and I too will be coming back after next payday to see if I can fill a few more. Booksgiving is only over when we let it be, and i for one have no intention of ending the love a single second sooner than I have to. 😀

The books that I have received in past booksgiving exchanges are so special to me. Every time I see them on the shelf or take them down to read them, I’m reminded of the kindness and generosity of a stranger that put that book in my hands. It’s really a gift that keeps on giving for years when you gift someone a book.

  436. Huh… turns out this is addicting. I went back and got the earliest on the list (in my country)… Jen Speed @158, your book should arrive on Thursday. Happy Valentines! 🙂

  437. @Serine: Thank you. I got the first Lady Sherlock in last year’s Booksgiving, so I guess this is kind of my tradition now. 😛

  438. Jess Rickards (who has also helped with the list) I think it is particularly dangerous to moderate the list, because you see every single list, and you’re like: I love that book, just one more! Then you go, holy cow! How many books did I buy?!?!

  439. Serine23, this is Mindy, #951. I am on the broken list for having 2 books on my list, but one is for my daughter. If I remove the one for myself, would that be okay? Thanks!

  440. Oh my goodness! I hopped in on Friday to see it was Booksgiving and leave my list. Came back today to see if I could buy any and see the fabulous Master List y’all have created! Heading over to see if I can spread some joy to someone 🙂

  441. Susan (687), your book should arrive on 2/20! Enjoy! I just finished a listen through of this one on a road trip the other day and it was just as amazing the 2nd time through as it was on the first!

List guru’s….do I just delete out the line once the book is bought from the master list? Don’t want to mess up anyone’s flow 🙂

  442. Heather, we have a few helpers lurking and refreshing frequently over here, so you can either just comment here, like you did, or add a comment to the line on the master list, as it won’t let you delete the line yourself. Hooray, more books for more folks!

  443. Serine, exactly! I was going to buy just one book, but then I saw all of these books that I was like, “Oh, I love that book. This person NEEDS that book,” and suddenly…yeah, a lot more than one book bought! LOL

  444. 811 was gonna send out book but says can’t said to a wishlist so couldn’t send it.
(Maybe see if address is available to 3rd party sellers?)

  445. Mindy, # 951, you can get one for you and one for your child, just leave a note on each book stating who they are each for. Also, it looks like your original link was a collaboration link. Instead of hitting “invite,” can you hit “send list to others” on the upper right side of the list and post the link that pops up here so it’s easy for everyone to access your list? Thanks!

  446. Azure 1267, looks like her book went out of stock as prime, she’ll need to check the third party box on her list or choose a different book. Maybe someone else for now or wait and see what 811 Rachelle J does….

  447. Laura #351 your list does not have an address attached – please add your address to your list so I can send you Furiously Happy!

  448. Rhalene #536 – there’s no address attached to your list so I can’t send your book to you!

  449. Serine23 – I added a comment to the spreadsheet (cell A55), but my book was ordered (according to Ash/370) and then canceled. Letting you know in case it’s an issue of cancellations. Thank you for keeping us organized!! -jen (362)

  450. ASH (370), did you cancel an order for Jen? Perhaps accidentally didn’t check out? Her book was re-stocked to her list (362). I’ve put Jen back on the list. Same book. $12. Sorry that happened to you Jen. This was purchased early on in Booksgiving… Here is a quick link to her book too: http://a.co/2SYUyxG

  451. http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/1AKNGMVXAG7SS

I hope I’m not too late to be considered for Booksgiving!! I just started Furiously Happy – 40 pages into it and I know it’s one I’ll keep coming back too. Reading is one of the few things that grounds me and it is amazing to have found such relatable content. Cant wait to explore this blog! Would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! 🙂
    Thanks!
    Susan

  452. Some of the ones to other countries ask for a “Registration of Individuals” ( thank you Google translate). Does anyone know what that means?

  453. Taylor (780) – thank you thank you so much! 🙂 You have brightened my day more than you know. (I only wish you had marked it as a gift so I could send a proper thank you, but hopefully you’ll see this.) xoxo

  454. Ok went on to gift one more. Tried doing anonymous #347 but book isn’t prime so can’t ship. Left note on master. So Michelle #436 your book is on its way. Should get to you Thursday.
Now I’m really done…for now lol

  455. Anonymous #1278, I’m pretty sure that means you have to have an Amazon account in that person’s country in order to purchase it.

  456. Well, the good news is the green portion of the master list is in the 40s! The bad news is this is in part because there were about a half dozen people in the green part that were found to not have shipping addresses attached to their wish list, which makes it impossible for strangers to gift you! If your wish list hasn’t been filled, please, please take a look at the master list and make sure all is well. There are still over 100 entries in the black section of the master list, so many missing just a simple address (or email address, in the case of kindle books). I want to see as many people as possible get books.

If you’re still in the green, don’t give up hope! People are still buying books and making strangers’ days.

    master list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit#gid=0

  457. BTW I tried to fulfill the book in Brazil and the one in India but just couldn’t figure it out ( or find a currency converter!) . However I have a U.K. Amazon account and can do regular and kindle purchases there. If there are some that need fulfilling, let me know and I will see what I can do.

  458. this is fun 😀 i sent furiously happy to someone anonomously in another country that i know from another forum.. she was just diagnosed with some stuff that makes life hard, and i thought she could benefit from the book and this site.. so i sent her the book and the note attached was just this website link.

also i skyped my husband to tell him about being gifted a book.. he lives in a different city because his work sent him away this year. 🙁 he asked “and me??” kinda sad, so i added a book for him to my wishlist. but since he is not on here himself that might not be ok? so just ignore it if it isn’t. but if someone likes to make random husbands of already blessed members happy:
    https://www.amazon.de/registry/wishlist/TF9NBQTI1LYR

  459. justaweekend, #1292, the problem with having multiple books on your list is no one can see if something’s already been purchased for you, so you potentially end up receiving multiple books while others don’t get any. This is why the rules specify one book per list. Please either shrink the list down to one book or create a new list with just one book on it and repost so I can get you added to the master list for gifting!

    Thanks!

  460. You are book Santa Jenny, and its the best christmas for booklovers. I’ve been dying to get a copy of year of the weeds by Sidhartha Sarma. Thought of getting myself a b’day present, but couldnt. Its not available in my local library ,yet. So this is my wishlist: http://amzn.in/6wES1n1

    PS: im from Kerala, India

  461. Jess Rickards, I added a note to each book stating who they are for, and The Stitchress updated my link for me. Thank you so much to the both of you! (#951)

  462. So I only went and figured out how to send to India… Aindrila 1197, you have a book on the way, expect it between 14th and 18th.

Thi 1295 though, you don’t have an address attached to the wishlist. Please click on “manage list” and add your address so your book can be sent to you. x

  463. Wow! So cool to see we might dip into the 30s!!!! Yay!!! Thanks Jess Rickards for keeping it up last night. I zonked out reading with my son! Sorry a few lists were in the green without addresses, it’s so time-consuming to check them all and we’ve really tried! Looks all-good now.

Here’s the Master List with the status of all the list:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

  464. Oh my God,Allegra, you’re the best.Didn’t think I’d have anyone sending me a book all the way from there to India! 😀 Thank you.You are the best 😀 Lots of love ❤️

  465. In celebration of getting a paid snow day today, and that my copy of You Are Here should arrive today, I’m inspired to gift one more book!
Anonymous 768, your Jenny book should arrive Thursday. Happy Booksgiving and Happy Valentine’s day!!

  466. Happy Booksgiving! Huge thanks to the folks who put together the google doc with all the lists! It was a huge help in finding a gift recipient!
    Here’s my list – http://a.co/hYqc4qZ

  467. I’ve been stuck indoors for health reasons and would love to read this book! I’m so excited to be a part of this fun holiday. Thanks Jenny, for spreading words and smiles!

    http://a.co/4dRtUq2

  468. Serine23, and all who are mods and maintaining the spreadsheet – Thank you for doing that.
I sent 2 books but can’t figure out how to update the sheet from my phone. And it’s blocked from my work computer. 🙂

    Sorry!

  469. Anonymous #320, I ordered the book for your daughter and it was supposed to be there on Saturday the 9th but of course Amazon is having some sort of issue getting it to your postman. It should be delivered today. If it isn’t there today, I will call amazon tomorrow BEFORE my morning coffee so I can be extra ruthless. Don’t they know it was Booksgiving?!?

  470. Hi Kathleen — since Julia has already sent a book from when you had multiple titles on the list, I’m removing you from the master copy. We’re trying hard to make sure this is kept to one per person according to the rules since we really want to knock out the last 40 or so lists that are correct and waiting to be gifted. Enjoy your book!

  471. Thank you to Iain. The book arrived yesterday and I’m excited to dive in!!!!

  472. I have loved participating in Booksgiving since the very first one! I have given this book to many people as a gift, yet do not have a copy for myself! Happy Booksgiving! 🙂

  473. FYI, I’ve heard from 3 people who got messages from Amazon that their order was canceled because the books were undeliverable to the address. I’m guessing that it was a mistake in submitting addresses but just wanted to let you know.

I super love you guys. Going to buy some more books now. 🙂

  474. #381 you are all set! The link in the comments didn’t work but thanks to Serine23 the link on the spreadsheet did! It’ll be there on Thursday!

  475. SusanB #1326 I cannot properly express my gratitude! It’s been a long time since I felt so many happy and excited feelings! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  476. Wow!! I can’t believe the mast only has 30 something green lists!!! I was hoping to be able to send some love Friday, but you may all beat me to it!! I love all the generosity in this bunch of people <3

  477. Hi Elizabeth! Many many thanks from #196. I can’t wait! I love Booksgiving! It’s fun to see the messages from Amazon in my email…such-and-such book has been delivered! It’s so weird to spend more money on the books I sent than the book I want, but it’s so worth it when I saw my wish fulfilled. I cried! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  478. Rachel in MI. Just got a thing from Amazon. They tried to deliver but didn’t want to leave it at your house. Your book is at your local post office. The one for your child is coming tomorrow And they may do the same thing. This happens to me all the time and I have no idea why. Anyway, Just wanted to give you a heads up.

  479. @Serine23 I was wondering if it would be okay to be added back to the list? I was originally #441 and my book had disappeared off my wishlist. I’ve been so excited waiting for it to arrive and today it is back on my list 🙁 I see books I sent have started arriving and I am so happy to see that but hoped I might be a recipient too. Thanks so much

  480. Moosegrumpy, I tried to pick yours up, but can’t see anything on it. Maybe someone beat me to it? Hope so.

There was one Jenny book left on the list, and I couldn’t bear to keep looking at it, it looked so lonely. 734 wyndydayze, expect it between 18th and 22nd.

Otter 293, your book isn’t prime anymore, couldn’t send.

1225 Barbara, expect yours Monday 18th.

  481. I GOT MY SHIPPING ADDRESS PROBLEM FIXED NOW, SORRY ABOUT THAT!!! I hope I still get a book, if I do the whole household will thrilled! Thanks in advance!
    Hugs~Love~Friendship!
    Allison

  482. To Anonymous #540…
Just wanted to send virtual hugs.
    Thank you SO much!
    Jenny’s book arrived today.
    <3

  483. Julie B (@545), I got a notification that your book was delayed and may not be delivered until the 13th or 14th. (They said I should contact them if it’s not delivered by Friday. So I’ll keep an eye on it…)

  484. Thank you so much to Vicky Earle for my book! It arrived today and it’s really, really lovely. It has so many wonderful techniques that I can study, and hopefully I can use some of them when I am finally able to make my own book in honor of my mother. Thank you so much again.

  485. Dearest Allegra,
Thank you so much for considering to gift me the book i want desperately. I’m beyond excited. In all earnestness, I dint expect someone to actually open my link. Now I have seen and experienced and is a believer in the unadulterated kindness of strangers. You took all the effort to send books to people half way across the world. Hugs!
As per your instructions I have added the address. https://www.amazon.in/hz/wishlist/ls/1WS5Z1MMBBZGQ

  486. Booksbounty hub, can you make a new wishlist please, with just the one book you want the most on it? And make sure you attach your address to that list through “manage lists”.

  487. Serine: Thank you so much for the book. It is lovely. My faith in humanity is officially restored.

And thanks to you, Jenny and all the other mods for making this happen.

  488. Oh my God! oh my God! Oh my God! Allegra, thank you so , so much. Everyone this is awesome. All of you who make this happen, you are phenomenal. Lets carry this spirit of kindness and generosity forward.

    Love, Arathi

  489. Anonymous #320 Amazon has lost the book I ordered from your wishlist for you and your daughter to share. I’ve requested a replacement and I’m hoping this one makes it there. At this rate I could’ve hooked my papillon to a mini dog sled and delivered it myself! You WILL be getting a book, no matter what it takes!

  490. I hope you don’t get the wrong idea but I was updating the list for Becoming by Michelle obama that time when maybe you bought it for me it showed error I tried again and it did it. I just hope to get inspire by her more thats why I added it. Pls dont think i am greedy. I really appreciate your kindness ma’am. And I am gonna wait for the book to arrive yeahhh.

  491. Allegra ,
Did u bought me Becoming??? It’s not in the wishlist. OMGG This is a DREAMMM right?? Thank you sooo muchhh😍😍😍😍. I am having happy tearsss.

  492. Kim #2, your book is on its way and is estimated to be delivered between 2/14 and 2/22. Sorry, it seems to be on the slow boat!

  493. Allegra, thank you for Andrews book, it arrived today, and he is so happy, all the boys are excited for that one! I hope I didn’t cause any confusion on my list, I took it down after you bought this book because I realized everyone else had only 1 or 2 books, and I thought that was why someone went to my list and clicked purchased elsewhere, because I seemed greedy. I didn’t want to take from anyone else.I just wanted to try to give the boys what they thought they were getting for xmas… I just love these boys so much and wish I could buy all their books myself. I didn’t mean to make you doubt who you bought this for. I have to use my neighbors computer because I don’t have my own, but I will try to get help t go through and buy some books for others if there are still lists when I get my social security.

Thank you Allegra for having faith in a non tech savvy grandmas list and thank you Bloggess for setting this up.

    Faith S.

  494. John (#1310) – the cookbook for your wife is on the way! Sorry, I wish it could get there in time for Valentine’s Day but there was no option for that, but it should get there on Friday. 🙂

  495. I’m still moderating here, but as things are sort of quiet (only one more list filled so far today) I’m getting back to regular life. I’ll keep checking in a few times a day. I want to say how grateful I am to have my kids and I gifted, and for the special space that Jenny has made for her community and readers. It is a safe haven in the storm. If you can still give, there are 28 people on the list. My pockets are full of lint 🙂

  496. Iain thank you so much!! I just noticed that my book was off the list and your post you had sent it. So kind of you!

  497. Michelle (1131), thank you!! Being #731, I didn’t think anything of it, but I was caught by surprise seeing You Are Here in the mail yesterday! You are the best! Thank you!!
    -#731

  498. Have more books than I have time to read right now, but Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens is amazing. My mom keeps giving me Jodie Picoult books and she is great too.

  499. Nina @#635 Your book is on the way, should arrive Friday, the 15th. Happy Booksgiving!

  500. @307 (Tara) I received notification that your book was delivered today and left in the mail room.

  501. Anna B. In Michigan, the book for you and the book for your daughter are at your local post office. They wouldn’t leave them at the house. Let me know if I can help. They look like great choices.

  502. Kelly in Indy, I can’t tell if your list has been filled or if you made an error by only putting “an idea” on your list. Can you check? Thanks!

  503. Kelly in Indy #1377, you added the book as an idea, not as an actually purchasable book. Please add the actual book to your list so we can get you added to the master!

  504. TO JO- 💙💚❤️ To you and I want to thank you so very much for your generosity! (And my mother and uncle thank you too, they will be reading it after I do!)
    Hugs~Love~Friendships!
    Allison

  505. I don’t know who sent me my book, but YOU ARE AMAZING! It’s been the year from hell and this last weekend I really felt like I was at my breaking point, but getting that surprise package made me smile so big! I felt like a giddy kid on Christmas. Thank you Jenny for this phenomenal community and for booksgiving.

  506. It’s so exciting to watch the number keep going down! This community rocks, and I will so be coming back on Friday after I get paid to try to play book fairy to one or two more people, and I know a few others have similar plans, so those still on the list, you’re not out of luck yet!

Thank you, Jenny, for creating such an amazing tribe that I’m proud to be a part of.

  507. Melissa, #1395/1396, you’ve linked to a collaboration list, which means it’s not publicly viewable without joining the list. Instead of clicking on “invite,” click on the link in the top right that says, “Send list to others,” and post that link over here so people can see your list!

  508. Thanks for all the updates, Serine23. I know it’s a huge amount of work, and I don’t want it to be thankless work.

I grew up reading about Charlie Brown and Peter Parker, so I’m starting to worry that I’ll be the lone person who doesn’t get a Booksgiving book, but then, I’m always grumpy on Valentine’s Day.

  509. 1159 THANKS SO MUCH! I just got the book in the mail but I had no clue that it was coming, I forgot I even signed up for this, you just made my day!

  510. I just noticed my book has disappeared off of my list – THANK YOU to whatever beautiful soul did a nice thing. I’m so excited!

  511. I am definitely coming back after payday and getting some more books. Book fairy may be slow, but book fairy is persistent.

  512. Thank you Kerry C. for my book! It arrived yesterday and I’m looking forward to reading it!

  513. Thank you Kerry C. for my book. It arrived yesterday and I’m looking forward to reading it!

  514. Thank you! Officially my new favorite holiday! And i highly recommend if you can get any of her audiobooks, do it! Nothing like hearing the story with the best inflection. I’ve listened to ‘Let’s Pretend This Never Happened’ at least five times.

  515. Don’t be a grump on Valentine’s Day Daniel! I rarely comment, but have been coming here for years. I see you and Serine23 work on the summaries of what is left every time. <3
Your book should arrive on Saturday – have a happy Valentine’s Day!

  516. Hi Danielle (1314) – I just want to give you an update! Amazon sent me a note today that said ”
Your package is still on the way, but it’s running late. Now expected February 15 – February 16 — most packages arrive in a day.” It is on the way, I promise, just a little late! I am so glad for your happy and excited feelings! Yay!

  517. Allegra @1384. THANK YOU!! I’ve bought a book every year, but never asked for one.

  518. Allegra I hit “enter” too quickly comment 1415 is me. I wasn’t sure if I set up my list correctly, but I’m so excited to be receiving a book.

  519. @Allegra #1187 The books came in Wednesday. Thank you so much. Tanny (my son) was really thrilled to get his book. I love mine. You are so much an angel to us both. Thank you again. Naomi and Tanny

  520. Thanks so much, Mindy2! But I can’t take any credit for the Master List. Serine23 is the person who, apparently, hasn’t been sleeping for an entire week. My only contribution was to purchase a book for someone who, I see, has added even more titles to her wish list, in violation of the rules. It damages my faith in humanity a little, but you and Serine23 and Jenny, and the many people who’ve been sending books to strangers have increased it tremendously.

  521. Someone just cleared off every last book in the green section, including mine! Thank you so much!!

  522. Jenny, you are truly an inspiration to keep going and a blessing to book lovers everywhere!
I (currently) have too many books on my TBR list to want another one, but I do have some to recommend.
“The Rabbit Listened” by Cori Doerrfeld. (Childrens Book)
(Look, we just want other people to stop telling us what to do about our feelings and just really listen to us!!!)
“Dead People Suck” by Laurie Kilmartin. (Rude humor – YAY! )
Her father passed away, and it was hell to go through it and get past it, but she made it by blogging about it, making fun of it (and herself), and using humor to keep going during the multiple times it felt like it was going to crush her. (A writer for the Conan O’Brian show and the author of “Shtty Mom”.)
“The Four Tendencies” by Gretchen Rubin. (Self-help)
As a fellow oddball, this book really helped me understand that my father isn’t really just a jerk, he’s an Outlaw who doesn’t care about other peoples’ expectations & feelings so you just *have to
make the consequences clear to him, instead of expecting him to do something just to make you happy!
    (And he’s a jerk. )
“What They Don’t Tell You about Bipolar Disorder” by Dennis Heil. (Mental illness / Only available as a Kindle e-book)
Don’t worry – it’s not a paranoid book about THEM. He deals with bipolar 2 (with sever bipolar depression) and was sick of not finding a lot of useful information on the Internet about that condition, so he started blogging about his experiences and answering questions as honestly as he could from his own perspective. He is also a high functioning autistic, so he has a very blunt and honest take on all possible aspects of dealing with the disorder. (And he’s a MF genius of bipolar 2, IMO. I deal with that disorder as well, and found him via his blog at “www.bipolarmanifesto.com” if anyone is interested and wants to check out his history & writing style first.)

  523. Anonymous 156, the book I said I bought for you appears to be on the slow train. I checked in because I hadn’t gotten a shipment notification by the latest I expected there to be one, and it’s now saying that it’s expected to arrive at your address anywhere between March 1st and March 18th. Sorry about the huge delay there, but don’t fear that it’s not coming! Just wanted to give you a heads up.

  524. Zero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The list is clear. What a beautiful Booksgiving! Thank you Jennifer, and Moonlight, and Stitchress, and other Mods who I can’t remember in my elation for helping with the list. Thank you everyone for all of the good you did! Amazing!!!! Thank you Jenny Lawson for doing this every year! Hugs and books to all!

  525. @xSusanB #1412 I received The Night Circus today!!!!!!!!! Happy tears! Thanks again so much. Amazon let me send you a little Thank You Note. xoxo

  526. @susanb, I’m Molly (#1244) and I am so touched. Thank you so much for your kindness. It means so very much to me. <3

  527. Thank you thank you thank you Kelly in Indy #1375 for sending my wishlist book, Legendary Ladies: 50 Goddesses to Empower and Inspire You. I am loving it, it definitely lives up to its title! You’re awesome Kelly! ❤
    You’re

  528. My book arrived today! Thank you so much ElsieTxBkLady! Been in a pretty down state of mind lately, this book about a strong confident woman may not help my situation in a tangible way, but will more than lift my spirits and hopefully give me the mental mojo to keep my head up. Thank you for your generosity. <3

  529. My husband wrote a book so let me post a plug for it! It is a sci-fi space opera adventure with a hero who journeys from apathetic loser to scapeship captain. If that sounds like fun to you search for The Last Cruise Ship by Robert Tillsley.

  530. Thank you so much for the empathy book for my classroom! (I’ve looked up and down the feed for the person you gifted it to us, but I can’t find it) As it is kindness week, my mini scholars are collecting change to buy a book for someone else <3

  531. Hey serine23 — I did receive a book – well more specifically, my daughter did. And she is SO THRILLED! And it was a TOTAL surprise! And we’ve decided to color in it together on Friday nights, which was always “girls’ night” with my mom (who passed away recently, funeral last week).

This group of wonderful people who give tangible gifts, but more importantly gifts of shoulders & ears (sounds like crypt snatchers) and tenderness and vulnerability and stories – it’s become more important to me than you can imagine. Thank you ALL for being so freaking awesome ALL THE TIME!!

  532. Dear Allegra

I received Becoming by Michelle obama book and am feeling soo happy to read it. Thank you so much for being so kind and a lovely message which i am gonna be proudly use as the bookmark with the book to remind me of goodness in all of us that exists and I should appreciate there is always a way to get out of the dark thoughts I have about relationships. I am sorry for sharing a bad part of me with you but I was a bad day indeed but you brightened it again!! I am very positive about getting all the strong good-deeds in the book to inspire me to be always be good and don’t let the dark time overpower you and always bring the good in you.Btw Michelle talks about family in her dedications which I am having bad time with but her words do make me feel my past thoughts which I am fighting with, I cherished my family but now it seems broken.

Thank you so much Miss Allegra for helping me when I need it the most. I will forever cherish you and the book.

    Yours
    Aashi ♥️♥️

Ps. Never introduced myself ,thank god I remember this time.
And thank you Jenny lawson for organising this !! Your smile is beautiful.

Btw yesterday was Random kindness day. Do remember to be kind with anyone and everyone but with yourself first.

  533. Are there any that still have lists not filled? I tried but failed. Lol. I’d love to send some. Someone said something about my list having more than one… I picked books for my preteens too. Also, I can’t find where to put my email so I guess I failed there too! Lol. Thanks for organizing acts of kindness!

  534. Dear Mrs Paws, thank you SO very much for gifting me with Alex’s book!! It was delivered around 6:15 this morning! Not to worry – I’d been awake 2 hours – but I was quite surprised! (No knock, at 6am had a notification it was arriving “today”, then roomie messaged me as he left at 6:20 that there was a package at the front door.)
This was a FABULOUS way to start a week! I can hardly wait to get into the recipes!!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!

  535. Thank you for my book toy Emily Brower! It brought much needed sunshine, joy, and kindness to me. I should probably clarify that when I was wee I called books “book toys” and, well, the name stuck.

  536. I was so happy to take part and gift a book to someone, but now I’m sad that I never received by Booksgiving book.

(Oh no! I know some people said that they bought books and then got a message that the package was undeliverable so maybe that’s what happened. I sent you a gift certificate to your email though. 🙂 ~Jenny)

  537. Adrienne #1441, You could always grab someone else on the list that had multiple books if you still want to gift, although you run the risk of gifting someone who’s already gotten a book. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ua0A0WQTu1SCX0wc7y_SCw_2X2TRQXZv2OQU70NEK_k/edit?usp=sharing

For future reference, you just add your email as a comment to the item by clicking “add comment, quantity, and priority,” and if you’re adding items for your kids, you can make sure we all know this by using the same comment function to say who each book is for so that we know you’re only asking for one book per person. 🙂

  538. Kelly #1444, mine never showed up either, but I’m still holding out hope that it was just sent by non-Prime shipping and might still arrive sometime this week. <3

  539. Aashi, I have recieved an email from Amazon telling me that they tried to deliver the other book but couldn’t as you weren’t available. They said that they will try again but if they fail the book will be returned to them. If that happens, I’ll be happy to reorder it, so check back here in a couple of days if no book so we can figure it out. x

Kelly, were you the little red journal? That only got delivered today, says it’s in the mailbox. x

Some of the ones I ordered are still snailing their way to the intended recipient, two of the Stitchy’s kids, and Rita in NC. Bet there were other people buying with no Prime, so if you’ve not had your book yet, not all is lost.

  540. I came to ask if Serine23 could tell me anything about tracking the book they sent me, and it seems they haven’t posted here since the list went to zero (which, fair enough, makes sense)… but their linked site (which I took to be their personal blog) seems to be a hp printer site? So I don’t know how to contact them at all.

  541. Dear Allegra

I received the book today. I am furiously happy about it. Be happy and punch the sadness.

    Thank you !!!
    Aashi

Ps. I am loving “Becoming” and “Furiously happy” .

  542. To the lovely “Fan” who send me a copy of “You are Here”- Thank you so very much. It showed up on a low day, and the gesture made me cry. It’s so wonderful to be reminded of good people in the world, and the tribe I’m happy to be part of.

  543. To those worried that your books haven’t arrived yet, don’t despair! Many non-prime books are still winging their way around the world; mine just arrived today after 10 impatient days of waiting. 😀

  544. Dianna 1448, sorry, I did take off for a couple of days, did I send you the book or did someone else? I gave so many books! You can contact Amazon as a good start for tracking. I hope you figured it out! I’ll check again tomorrow…

  545. Also to echo Jess Rickards, I think a lot of people opted to go slower shipping because they got Kindle edition credits for choosing that option, and then could turn around and use those credits to gift Kindle books!

  546. I accidentally deleted my list before I could write a thank you. Thank you so much for my book! It means so much!

  547. Dear Allegra and the other book fairies,
My book arrived and I couldn’t be happier. I looked in wonder, like you would at a painting at the Louvre, at the book cover that I admired for months in the amazon wish list. Read the back cover to make sure that this was indeed the story I want to read. Because I couldn’t believe my luck. I sniffed the pages, like you would a newborn’s head for that new book smell. Both my parents couldn’t believe that somebody would do such a sweet thing for a stranger. and I told them thats its not one, but a community of book fairies! This is beautiful and I could never express my gratitude enough.
    Love you all!

PS: My mom totally monopolized on the bubble wrap in the packaging

  548. Jo, you didn’t let an email for me to thank you, but I received the book friday, and it’s my birthday today, so synchronicity rocks 🙂
I had the most amazing lazy day, reading the bloggess while the cat used me as a bed. Thank you so much !

  552. @Serine23 The book was retrieved from the P.O. Box today, and you have made an Aussie gal very happy. 😀

  553. My book unfortunately never arrived (#224).
Maybe it got lost in the mail.. I’m sorry for the person who gifted it to me and wanted to thank you again for being so thoughtful.

  554. I’m always late to Booksgiving, but here are two books that I checked out from the library and loved enough to acquire copies and recommend: Big Magic, by Elizabeth Gilbert, and The Slight Edge, by Jeff Olson, In case anyone out there is still looking to “gift” a book, here’s my wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1741W6FM1EF6Z?ref_=wl_share

I’m in California, btw. Thanks in advance, if you’re my BooksGiver! Happy BooksGiving!

  555. I wanted to give a big thank you to Kerry answered my Booksgiving wish! I would have replied sooner, however, the book was delivered to my leasing office, and I wasn’t notified of the delivery by Amazon.

  556. My brother suggested I might like this web site. He used to be totally right.
This put up truly made my day. You cann’t consider just how so
much time I had spent for this information! Thank you!
