Holidays and horror combined.

I made you an advent calendar!

You can see it embedded below and please forgive my shaky hands. I didn’t realize it was that bad until I rewatched it. :/ Anxiety is a bitch. It gets much less shaky as soon as I start reading so feel free to look away until then.

A special thank you to my substack subscribers who have encouraged me to find myself again in art, no matter how ridiculous it shows up.

  1. I love the calendar!! And I ordered myself a copy of your colouring book too. My Christmas gift to me.

  2. I had Advent calendars in the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and beyond. I never heard of one with a story. All the ones I ever saw had cheap little toys or cheap little chocolates. Now, of course, you can buy them with booze (I think those were around 50 years ago but you didn’t buy them for your kids), tea, cheese, etc.

  3. Sales could start around Halloween and the funds could go to the James Garfield Miracle!!!

  4. I love it & I love you! I’m convinced you are the best person on the face of this planet! (If you’re Wil Wheaton reading this, I’m sorry. You’re great, too, but you have to be 3rd after Jenny & Anne!)

  5. I’ve been painting dragons on card stock this Christmas and found your Advent Calendar totally in sync with my dragon mood. Thank you for sharing and Happy Holidays!!

  6. What a great idea and spooky story! I hope you will make one for next year. I would totally buy several!

  7. Jenny, you are so wonderfully talented, and in sooo many amazing ways! Thank you, thank you, thank you—you are a such a gift. Scary Christmas to all! 🖤

  8. Wow, very cool. Way short attention span here so I only made it to page 3 of the story but I love the drawings! Will go back and read the rest. Merry Xmas and HNY!

  9. Wow, can you publish an advent calendar popup book for next year for the days between Halloween through Christmas and proceeds could go to the James Garfield miracle?
It would be the perfect antidote for how early the Christmas merchandise starts entering the stores.
I love this idea sooooooo much!
Merry Scary Christmas to each and everyone of your little monsters and fans out there.

(That’s such a fun idea but I have no idea how to make that happen. Hmmm. ~ Jenny)

  10. Merry Christmas Jenny! My wish for you in the new year is health, happiness, love and most of all NO DEPRESSION!

  11. Loved listening to you reading the Advent story! Hope you ate fabulous food, drank good libations and had a generally divine day! Don’t ever change being who you are ❤️

  12. I had totally forgot that advent calendars didn’t used to have stuff in them, just a story. Yours is amazing, thank you xx

  13. Great story! I loved every second. Merry Christmas Jenny! 🎄🎄💚♥️💚♥️🎄🎄

  14. This was fantastic and so well composed
I’d make two, then frame them – one open, one closed!

  15. I didn’t know that about advent calendars! I had several as a kid, and I don’t remember any of them having stories in them, but I agree ghosts used to be the norm for Christmas in Victorian times. Thank you for sharing that with us! Very entertaining!

  16. I read my work email after a much needed few days off and saved this as my post-email treat and it was such a lovely treat! You NEED to publish this and get scary Christmas stories back in vogue!!

  17. I would love to have a copy! I’m sure there’s someone out there who could help mass produce them for sale? Either way – I loved it and I hope you had a Merry Christmas!

  18. Jenny thank you! You inspired me to turn a mistake into a positive today. My daughter’s 6th birthday party is tonight, and while writing out her card I signed “Love, Momy”. Cuz I’m prepping a birthday party and I’m EXHAUSTED 🤦

But I thought of you and turned the mistake into a giant heart 💜 Now it just looks like she’s extra loved, and you would never know I’d made a mistake.

I’m not at ALL artistic and never would have thought of this if not for you!

(Love! And happy birthday to you both! ~ Jenny)

  19. What a great idea and spooky story! I hope you will make one for next year.
In my blog, I talk about the story of Raya and Sakina, the two most famous serial killers in Egypt. In my blog, I discuss different aspects of the sisters’ story, from their personal lives to their crimes and the method of their arrest. Through my blog, I seek to shed light on this important historical issue and provide accurate and comprehensive information about it.
