On the positive side, we have a lot of anniversaries.

We started Nowhere Bookshop at the end of 2019 when we sold our first book through the Fantastic Strangelings Book Club which we fulfilled in Elizabeth’s garage (with the help of spouses, kids and even our parents). By March of 2020 we were finally ready to open the actual remodeled (as remodeled as we could afford, at least) shop, which is exactly when covid hit and we were sure we’d go out of business. But our book club saved us (and is still saving us each month, please join!) and slowly the community realized we were there and would call us for books which we’d ring up and then leave outside and wave at people when they picked them up. It was a weird fucking time.

And then we were allowed to open but we wanted to protect our team and customers so we didn’t actually open to the public until July of 2021…three years ago today.

Any other time we’d have called it a GRAND OPENING and asked everyone to come but we were still wary of crowds so instead we held a series of what we called “Bland openings” designed to have people come visit but not all at once…which is exactly the opposite of how you’re supposed to do business.

We are a progressive, indie bookshop in Texas that closed its doors before it ever opened them and did everything the wrong way in a business sense, but the right way according to our hearts. And against all odds and with the incredible support of our community we’re somehow still here.

We have book club members all over the world. We have celebrity customers who drop by that I can’t name because we want to protect their privacy. We have local readers who visit so much that our baristas know their drinks and our booksellers immediately start gossiping with them about whatever book they last sold them. At least twice a month I’m surprised by someone in tears out of gratitude for having safe and lovely space that feels like home. I get to spend time with an amazing team and meet incredible authors and help grow the world in a way that encourages kindness and empathy and acceptance and growth. And it’s all because of you.

So to celebrate, I’m giving away 10 signed copies of my books! Just leave me a comment saying which book you want (Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, Furiously Happy, You Are Here or Broken) and I’ll email you for your address if you win.

Thank you again for your help…whether you’re a member of one of our clubs, or you’ve visited the store, or shopped online, or shared it online, or even just left a kind comment…you helped us stay.

Here’s to the next three years.

  1. I had all your books but lent Let’s Pretend This Never Happened to a friend and never saw it again ☹️

  2. Congrats on 3 years of doing business!! You are here is one of the books I want to read..

  3. Furiously Happy!
And happy anniversary!! May there be many more!! 💜🤗

  4. Lets Pretend This Never Happened is my go-to book to give away to friends who are going through something. It never fails to give me comfort and something to laugh about, even in the hardest of times.

  5. What a wonderful bit of news! I didn’t realize it had been three years already, and I still haven’t made it out there to visit! I guess that’s better than the Ripped Bodice in LA tho, which opened SEVEN years ago and I still have on my to-do list. I’m a professional procrastinator! Would love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend, as that will always be my most favorite of your books. I snort laughed through the entire read, and you had a fan for life! 🙂 Here’s to many many more years for Nowhere!

  6. I don’t really read blogs (for the most part I don’t really understand them), yours is the only one I not only read, but subscribe to. Every time you have a book club posting, I will look up the books that you have suggested, that I find interesting, and have bought a couple of new favorites, that way. The way you write, without pretentions about your crazy, slightly dysfunctional family, with love and understanding allows people to see that everyone has troubles, joys, lights and darks within them and that we should celebrate those qualities, not be ashamed of them, and hide them.

You writing about your troubles have help me, both with troubling times of my own and dealing with family that was going through some things.

    Thanks,

    Jeff.

  7. Furiously happy, because I gave it away in a gift exchange after reading it the first time, motherfucker

  8. Jenny, your bookstore is my favorite place!! I go whenever I’m back in SA. You have done so much for us all just by being you! My favorite book is Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. It’s my go to whenever I need to laugh, to cry, to feel. One day I hope to get to meet you in person and laugh together!

  9. I’d love to have an autographed copy of Broken. That book means a great deal to me.

  10. I already have signed copies of all of them. But I am SO SO SO happy Nowhere exists! I live in California – but we made a trip to San Antonio – and it was only 85% to come to Nowhere, LOL.

Yay! Congrats! Here’s to so many more!

  11. ‘You Are Here’ is the only one of yours I haven’t read yet. Would love to! Happy Anniversary!

  12. I’d love a copy of You Are Here please. Congrats on your anniversary, that’s amazing! Here’s to many more. Big hugs.

  13. I love reading your blog, getting your amazing art doodles on SubStack! I would love a copy of You are Here to add to my collection. And someday I will make it to your shop, I live just up the road in Austin

  14. I would love a copy of Broken! I’m so glad that your shop is still doing well. Someday I’d like to visit in person 🙂

  15. I have all your books, so I will leave the signed request for another lucky soul who still needs your words!!! I still tell everyone about Let’s Pretend and how it randomly fell into my lap!
Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to visit your shop and obtain a signature then, if that’s okay 🌻💜

Thank you, Jenny, for everything you do for us weirdos and fans ✨

  16. Broken, because I have a copy but it isn’t signed yet. 🙂 If you give me another, I will give my original (unread, because I read it on Kindle, where I can increase the font size and read in bed) to someone who wants it but hasn’t read it yet. 🙂 <3 Kim P. kimmieg at gmail dot com

  17. I would love an autographed copy of Broken. That book means a great deal to me.

  18. Congrats to you and your team! If I win, then Brokenplease! I have given a away both of my copies! Love you lots!

  19. Congrats!! My daughter and I visited your bookstore this spring and she still talks about Sir Terry Scratchett.:) I’d love a copy of Broken 🤞

  20. I own them all but if I had a signed one I’d give the extra away. Surprise me!

  21. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is how I found you! You have saved me too! Congratulations on your anniversaries!!!

  22. OMG! I Would love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend. You have/had signed all my books but I lent my ex step sister my copy and she never gave it back! I’m devastated my collection isn’t complete!

  23. Congratulations and happy anniversary! I love all your books but Furiously Happy will always hold a huge part of my heart for getting me through a really rough time

  24. Why am I crying? I’m not sure. But I was just in San Antonio two days ago with some coworkers. we went to eat at Paloma Blanca, which I didn’t know was pretty much down the street from Nowhere. So then I took them to Nowhere after dinner. They loved it. And I was sharing how, I feel so invested in Nowhere because you asked our opinion about decor and showed us what you were doing. It’s my family’s favorite bookstore and we live in Austin. It was a place My kids and I can agree on things. So thank you, Nowhere, for existing.

  25. I’ve been following you for roughly 15 years. Your book store is on my list of places to visit, if ever in Texas (your area) again. Would love a copy of Broken, please!!

  26. Furiously happy saved me SO many times. And I’ve handed out so many copies to strangers who were struggling, in hope it would help them too. I’ve heard from some folks I’ve done this with, and it has. You are awesome!

  27. I haven’t gotten the chance to read Broken yet but I’d love an autographed copy!

  28. I love them all, but a signed copy of Furiously Happy would be wonderful. Congratulations!

  29. Congratulations! Owning a business is hard-ass work, and you all are killing it! If I’m picked I’d love a copy of “You Are Here” please 🙂

  30. I would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. Thank you- you sharing your experiences helped me explain to my husband how depression lies when he had a cousin who didn’t make it. He couldn’t understand what she had to be depressed about? I think your sharing has helped people gain a greater understanding. Congrats on your anniversary- still hoping to get there from Houston!

  31. I gave my copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Really Happened to a friend who was 1000s of miles from home and stuck with covid in a hotel room. I would love another copy as I read it often.

  32. Meeting you at Seattle Mystery Bookshop was one of the highlights of my career there, and as a fellow bookstore…employee isn’t right because we do it for love, don’t we?..I am SO happy that Nowhere Bookstore has flourished. Someday, I hope to come and wander your aisles as you did ours, and soak up all that book loving positivity, but in the meanwhile, Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!

  33. Furiously Happy!

I love Nowhere! I’m up in the Dallas area but every time I’m in San Antonio I go to the store. We brought our kids with us for the first time this spring!

  34. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened (i was so excited to visit the shop in December 2021, my sister and kid and I were visiting my cousin who lives in Austin and i made them all go 😂!)

  35. Happy anniversary! I’d love another copy of You are Here – for reasons – that definitely aren’t coloring 😉

  36. Congratulations on 3 years plus the weird times! Someday I will come to Texas specifically for San Antonio and Nowhere.

  37. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!
Congratulations on 3 years! I’ve been a proud member of the Fuzzy Butt, aka Happy Endings, Book Club since the beginning, and really love the monthly selections! 😁

  38. I’d love an autographed copy of You Are Here. I love it so much I gave a copy to my therapist (after introducing her to all of your books).

  39. Happy Anniversary! Loved the book club during Covid. Made me feel connected to like minded readers.
The shop is top of my list next trip to SA.
Would love a signed Broken! To give to my sister.

  40. We have every one of your books and are members of Nightmares From Nowhere (switched from Fantastic Stranglings) We love being a part of your community and keeping Nowhere afloat!! Here’s to many more anniversaries.

  41. We got to visit early on. We met you & Beyonce, still on my hi-lights visiting San Antonio. Thanks for all you do, the laughs & tears continue. We love Jenny Lawson. Let’s pretend this never happened is tied with Broken as my favorite.

  42. I’d love You are Here! Your books are such an inspiration, especially since a close family member has been struggling with mental health issues the past 4 years. Your books helped them and me see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

  43. Recommending since I commented previously as anonymous 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

    Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!
Congratulations on 3 years! I’ve been a proud member of the Fuzzy Butt, aka Happy Endings, Book Club since the beginning, and really love the monthly selections! 😁

  44. “Let’s Pretend this Never Happened” had me snort laughing through my cancer treatment in 2012. I was just diagnosed for a second time this week, and would absolutely adore to snort laugh through it again with a re-read.

  45. I have all your books two only in kindle. I’d love Let’s Pretend this Never Happened or Furiously Happy if I win.

  46. Let’s pretend this never happened! ❤️❤️❤️ happy anniversary!

  47. Big congrats and happy anniversary! Woot!

I’d love a copy of You Are Here 📕❤️

  48. MAZEL TOV on your success, no matter how long it took! I’d love to get Broken.
The book, please don’t fly to Florida to throw hands.
    ;P

  49. I wouldn’t mind You Are Here. I haven’t been able to return to Texas since the Bookshop opened, but I adore my Nowhere shirt!

  50. Love that you are successful.

My aunt taught me to read at age 3..still love reading and love how you have grown. Turned 80 this week and still going string

  51. You Are Here. It’s the only one I don’t own 🙂
    Happy anniversary!

  52. Happy Anniversary! I actually just want to know where you got your dress and what shoes those are. You look really cute and comfy and I need that because perimenopause is just doing a number on me.

  53. Happy Anniversary! So glad you did it your way! Always looking out for others!

    I’d love You Are Here!

All your books are amazing. Thank you for sharing with us.

  54. Jenny, congratulations to you and your amazing staff for this great service to the world, an indie bookstore not afraid to have books available that could most likely be banned. I was so happy to meet you on a special day for Nowhere a year or so back, and I wish I lived closer so I could become one of those folks that y’all knew my drink order as soon as I stepped up to the counter.

  55. My favorite book of yours is “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened”

  56. Oh, how lovely! I would love a copy of You Are Here, because I already have all of the other ones. And I have a huge box of colored pencils still hanging around from when my children were small, and nobody’s used them in ages.

  57. Congratulations on your perseverance and resulting success!
    Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

  58. I would love a copy of Furiously Happy. I can’t find mine and a signed copy would be lovely.

  59. What a happy story to read today!! I’m so happy for you guys 🥰♥️ I’ve been such a fan of yours every since I first stumbled upon “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” and it became one of my favourite books of all time! (Up there with my ultimate fav – Christopher Moore’s “Lamb”). I don’t need a book, but in honour of this amazing anniversary I ordered 1 of each of your books and will be leaving them around my town as part of @bookfairiesworldwide
    Here’s to many more years!

  60. Congratulations for opening such a lovely bookstore. They have been my favorite place to shop since I’ve been shopping (more than half a century) and if I lived in Texas I would be shopping at your store. It definitely sounds like my kind of place.
Best of luck and wishes for many more years of success!

  61. I recently discovered you! Like a month ago and I’ve already read your books. Furiously Happy was my favorite and I’d love a signed copy, but unfortunately, I’m an idiot girl who hasn’t figured out how to leave her name. So, I’m just Anonymous. 🙂

  62. It all started in a bookstore here in La Crosse, Wisconsin when I read the dust jacket of “Let’s Pretend this Never Happened” and laughed and laughed. Despite your difficulties (many of which I share), you never fail to amaze and amuse and awe me. I’d love a physical copy of “Broken” which I only have as an e-book. Keep on!

  63. Let’s Pretend This Never Hapoened. This was the first book that made me cry from laughter

  64. Let’s Pretend this never happened because I haven’t read that one yet.

  65. I don’t need a book.I just love knowing that you are there! I was so pleased to visit last year and see that your bookstore is everything that I would have.Imagined it to be. And my son loves the socks. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s brilliant.

  66. Thanks, Jenny!
The log in is being persnicketty but I usually comment as Saraphina or Sara M Harvey.
It’s my dream to have a signing at your shop one of these days.
The only one of your books I don’t yet have is YOU ARE HERE.

  67. I would love a copy of Broken. ‘Insert funny comment here’ sorry brain is fried from the heat. ( not like an egg on the sidewalk fried…cause that would be weird)

  68. Let’s pretend please. So glad I found your writing and wit. Now I also “get” one of my friends better.

  69. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened – I love giving people this book. I loaned my signed copy and didn’t get it back. I miss it so much. This book made me laugh so hard. Thank you!! And thank you for your book clubs. I’ve been with you since the beginning. And hopefully soon I’ll see the store in person.

  70. I love all your books 🦝 🐁 👹 I can’t tell you how much your words have been a friend to me. Furiously Happy was the first one I discovered and my family was more than alarmed when ,after having seen me prone in a puddle of misery for months , I was suddenly laughing hysterically with tears streaming down my face . Feeling so understood and knowing I wasn’t an anomaly was a breakthrough for me and something I cling to as the battle rages on . I would love a copy of “You Are Here “ that I could interact and have fun with , as I haven’t been able to bring myself to make any marks in my copy sitting pristinely on my shelf 🤦‍♀️

  71. email: ggravett@tcsg.edu I remember reading your blog throughout all of this – you showing us pics of the new ‘space’ and then reading that the book-club members were carrying you thru. All of this just shows how much you mean to the locals and to the ones who can only read about it all (so jealous I’m not close). Congrats, Jenny! I’m so, blessed to have found you. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened was what I read first – a signed copy would be fantastic.

  72. I lost my job and have not found another. I am currently homeless and live in my car. I lost all my possessions because my storage unit was auctioned- and amongst them were my treasured signed books from you. I would LOVE to get Furiously Happy again. Already got a paperback Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, but am still missing everything else!

  73. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

You are amazing!! I hope to visit the shop some day. Thanks for being you!

  74. Congrats on the success of such a wonderful space! I’m not entering the draw as I own all of your books. Just wanted to say congrats and thanks for being you!

  75. Congratulations! Broken would be my choice because I have the others! 🙂

  76. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I have loved being a part of your book clubs, and was absolutely heartbroken when a conference I was set to attend that would have put me in the vicinity to visit the shop was cancelled. So happy for all your success. Felice O.

  77. You are here!

    Congratulations!!! 🎊🎉 Happy anniversary 🎂🎉

  78. Damn, time flies, eh? I used to keep multiple copies of your books because they’d be permanently borrowed by friends (even LPTNH with the signed bookplate!).
    Happy Anniversary

  79. I am so happy you and your store succeeded against all odds because you have created this incredible universe for us fantastically broken people to feel safe and normal in.
I own all your books, so if I win, could you donate one of your books to the local women’s shelter? It could make all the difference to someone who really needs to read one right now in their lives.
Your book broken helped me get through my mother’s cancer treatment and your book let’s pretend this never happened helped me get through my divorce.
Thank you oodles and oodles for being you and sharing with us all!

(I’m doing this immediately. So much love. ~ Jenny)

  80. Happy Anniversary! So thankful for your books! “Furiously Happy “

  81. Congrats! 🎉 I’d love to add You Are Here to my bookshelf. Thanks for considering me. ❤️ Keep up the great work!

  82. I would swoon for an autographed copy of any of your books. I love them all! Happy anniversary to your wonderful bookstore! I hope to visit one day.

  83. Happy Anniversary ! Hard to pick but I will choose “Broken”! Thank you for all that you do.

  84. I read “let’s pretend this never happened” recovering from surgery and it got me through. I laughed so hard I was crying. I admit the pain meds might’ve helped, but this book was truly an island in that dark time. I also have an adopted daughter suffering with mental illness and your books make her feel not so alone. Bless you.

  85. Congratulations to Nowhere! Broken would be wonderful, the only one I haven’t read yet.

  86. Happy Anniversary! I would love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend (that implicates me in a crime!) I have Furiously Happy (not signed … Boo!) and Broken (signed … Yay!). Jenny thanks for the opportunity to win something! =)

  87. I’d love to read You Are Here! I had the pleasure of visiting your store two years ago when we were visiting San Antonio. It was a highlight for me for sure!

  88. Woo hoo! Congrats! Happy anniversary! Furiously Happy as that’s the first book by you I discovered & then couldn’t stop recommending it to everyone.
As I laughed out loud so much.

  89. Furiously Happy is my FAVORITE book of all time! I’ve lent it out multiple times and never got it back, so I’ve bought several replacement copies along the way. I give it to people as a gift pretty often because it’s the best gift ever. It changed my perspective on my own mental illness struggles and helped me to embrace the crazy in my life and find the joy in it all! Thank you for writing it, and a signed copy would complete my “Jenny Lawson” book section on my shelf. xoxox

  90. Happy Anniversary! Visiting your bookstore is on my bucket list. Indie bookstores offer so much to community and I’m so glad your store is appreciated far and wide. If I’m a lucky winner of a signed book, I would pick Furiously Happy because it is the first one of yours that I read and instantly fell in love with your writing (and the cover always makes me smile).

  91. Happy Anniversary and Congratulations! I have all your books but no signed copies. If I were picked to win a signed copy of ANY of your books I promise to pass on my original copy. Thank you for doing this.

  92. I’d love to have to OG! (Let’s Pretend this Never Happened). I love my Nowhere sweatshirt. Maybe someday I’ll make it to Texas!

  93. I’d love Broken, I have all others🥰 Happy anniversary and so glad you write such great books!

  94. Congrats – sounds awesome!
Let’s Pretend This Never Happened please

  95. Congratulations!!! It’s so wonderful that Nowhere is thriving. My daughter and I have visiting the bookstore on our bucket lists. We’re in South Carolina so it’ll be a bit of a trip. (But well worth it, we feel.)
I have all your books and have bought many just to give away. I don’t need a signed copy of any of them. but if it happens, so be it. I love them all.

  96. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened would be so amazing to get from you!! I’ve read them all but this is the only one I don’t own a hard copy of. You’re the most down-to-earth and open person I’ve never met, but hope to visit your store one day!! 🩷

  97. Happy Anniversary! I would love Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. 💕

  98. Congratulations on your anniversary. I hope to someday visit your store. Long drive from Ontario, Canada. I did have all your books but l lent “Let’s pretend this never happened” to a coworker and never saw it again. I hope it brought her joy like it brought me.

  99. Congrats! I’ll get there some day from Pittsburgh.

You Are Here is the only one I don’t have…

  100. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, which I listened to you narrate and almost swerved off the road I was laughing so hard. Congrats on Nowhere’s success!!

  101. I’ve never had the chance to visit your bookstore, but if anyone I know is going to San Antonio, I tell them to visit Nowhere Books. Congrats!

  102. Let’s Pretend this never happened. I loaned my copy and never got it back!

  103. Aww, congratulations! Nowhere is on my list of places to visit whenever I get to Texas. I enjoyed all your books, but I think Furiously Happy is my fave. Thank you!

  104. I am part of the Fantastic Strangelings and have no idea why. I am not a huge reader, but the allure of being part of such a cool space appealed to me. So, here I am, still a member. Do I read every book each month? Nah, I am not that speedy. Do I love every book I have read? Yeah, just about every one. Do I share this special club to anyone that asks where I get such great/weird books? YES!

  105. Congratulations on the anniversary and thank you for doing all the right things to protect everyone along the way. If ever in Texas again, I would love to visit one day but I’ll happily continue to stay linked virtually.

I would love to have a signed copy of _Broken_ because it helps me while on a similar journey of my own.

  106. I would love to have a copy of Furiously Happy! And bland congratulations to all of you!

  107. Nowhere is my #1 happy place. I don’t visit often because I live out of town but when I do, I am over the moon. I’m so happy to see this dream come true for you Jennie.

  108. You are here.
I wish I didn’t live 100000kms away so I could be one of those people who got to drop in regularly!!

  109. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!

I am also a Strangeling and love it! The recent book, The Lost Story, is my favorite book of the year 🙂 Nowhere is my happy place; I love being there so much. Great selection of books, wonderful staff, and the very best socks.

  110. Happy anniversary!
Furiously Happy! (Is the book I’d want & also what I am about your success. Someday I’ll get to visit Nowhere in person!)

  111. Congratulations on 3 years! I’d love to have a signed copy of Broken.

  112. Dealers choice, after I read it I will nestle it beside my signed copy of Handmaids tale for safe keeping 🙂

  113. “Broke”….It had ALL OF THE FEELS and it’s the book I’d love EVERYONE to read.
CONGRATULATIONS on your book store….a visit is on my bucket list and I’m in awe and jealous….I’d love to have a book store …I have a book addiction…I’d probably move in and live there. SO MUCH COMFORT in books, they truly are good medicine…So thankful for this gift from talented writers everywhere.

  114. I would love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! A friend of mine just bought a house in San Antonio and I was so excited to see your store is 20 minutes from her new place-I will finally have an excuse to be in Texas and go see the store in person!

  115. And I would love nothing more than a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. It’s my #1 book reco to friends!

  116. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! CHANGED my life when I first encountered it in my small west Texan library. I would be thrilled to own a copy 🙂 <3

  117. Some weeks you are the only thing that lifts me from despair. I know I’m a stranger, so I hope it’s not too creepy to say it feels like you really like me.

I can’t find my copy of Broken.

    <3

  118. Hi Jenny! Happy anniversary! I already purchased Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and Broken, so I would love Furiously Happy or You are Here. 😁

  119. Furiously Happy! Because you make me furiously happy, and so I can give my copy to my sister.

  120. Yay!! So happy you have a happy place like this. Someday I want to own a bookstore too. Furiously Happy is one of my favorite laugh out loud books. I’d love an autographed copy, and then I can put my current copy in my Little Free Library to spread the happiness and laughter. Love you, Jenny! 💖

  121. Visiting your store is on my bucket list!

Pam from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

  122. Congrats on your store anniversary! You’re living my dream life. I’ve always wanted to own a bookstore.
If I win, I would like Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I’ve read all of your books, but I got them from the library.

  123. Wishing you the happiest anniversary! I have never been to your store but have ordered multiple times. I have all your books autographed and love every one of them. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your stories and making us laugh and most of all feeling like we are not alone in this life. Nowhere Bookshop is something special too.

  124. My husband wanted to do a cross-country road trip from California to Florida last year (twice, actually, because he doesn’t like flying), and I only agreed because it meant we could stop at Nowhere.

  125. You are here! Congratulations on your three years I hope I can visit the store one day.

  126. I would love to have a copy of You Are Here. It’s the only one I don’t currently have! Thank you for always making me feel not so alone and laugh during the hard times.

  127. Let’s pretend this never happened! I recommend it to people ALL the time and constantly share your posts. Much love ❤️

  128. I’d love Let’s pretend this never happened. It’s not letting me put my info- Ashlee Fowler

  129. Let’s pretend this never happened!
    Congrats on 3-5 years! 😉

  130. Well, I left you a long message on Facebook instead of here. Duh. I would want the first book, “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” because my goal is to get my best friend as addicted to your books as I am. Hoping to visit Nowhere next month!

  131. Broken! It’s the only one I don’t have! Congrats on a successful 3 years. Proud of you!

  132. Broken is the only one I don’t have! Congrats on all the anniversaries!

  133. Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! I’d love You Are Here so I can let myself color in the one I have! Much love to you and the crew who keep things running! 💖

  134. Happy Anniversary! And if I were so lucky as to win, Broken, please.

  135. I have all of your books. Some signed, some have a signed book plate. But I wanted to say:
Happy Bookshopaversary! (stop judging me, autocorrect! I don’t care if you say that’s not a real word!)
I still hope to make it there someday and will so enjoy meeting the booksellers in person! (I love their videos!! )
So let us raise our glasses, well…mine’s a cup because I’m drinking coffee, in a sort of weird long-distance toast! >Clink<

    Lisa – the awkward

  136. Let’s pretend this never happened! I have it on Kindle, and still laugh every time I reread it. I would love to have a physical copy!

  137. Happy Anniversary!! I wouldn’t know which book to choose. You choose whichever book you feel would help me best as I am experiencing deep, heart wrenching grief. Just recommend one and I will buy it. Maybe a project will help me. 🙂

  138. Happy Anniversary! 📚
I don’t live in TX, but have been to Nowhere twice! It’s cozy and the staff are friendly.

  139. Woo-hoo! Congrats on weird anniversaries! I would love Let’s Pretend – I have the digital version but I forget I have e-books because they aren’t actually in front of me, so I forget to read them… #NeurodivergentProblems

  140. I have copies of them all, but would take a signed version of any of them. Also…I’m pretty sure they are ebook versions, but I honestly can’t remember. I wish I had a teleporter so I could visit without actually having to travel to Texas (love Austin, but…). Texas is not a safe space.

  141. Let’s pretend this never happened! I love all the things you post and enjoy hearing your stories.

  142. Furiously Happy 😊
I will one day be walking through your doors and hoping with all my might that you are there!!

  143. You Are Here is the only one I don’t own. Would be honored to have a signed copy! Happy store anniversary!

  144. Congratulations! Hell yes to many more years of your bookstore! I’d love Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!

  145. Broken, if I am a lucky winner! Congratulations on your three year anniversary! I’m so glad you survived and are thriving! I love my Nowhere t-shirt!

  146. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is my fave and I’d love a copy. Thanks. Denny Gross

  147. Congratulations!!! What a moment for celebration!

I love them all, but I think Broken would be my pick. Thank you!

  148. Congratulations! So pleased that you made it through a rocky start, your writing helped keep some of us going through those months. I started with Furiously Happy which is in my locker at work to get me through …those days … but have never gone back to Let’s Pretend This Never Happened so that would be my preference. And full disclosure, I’m in Australia so happy for you to just wave me on by but add me to the tally if you’re keeping a count of preferences.

  149. I love all of your books, Jenny! I would love the one where you talk about ketamine treatments please. I’m not at home until next week and can’t check my bookshelf. I’d love to give it to someone very dear to me who is going through that treatment. Thank you for being a bright light for us.

  150. I can’t seem to find my copy of _Let’s Pretend This Never Happened_, and it was never signed anyway, so that wone! Um, I meant one, but I was excited to maybe win, so I’m leaving it.

    Happy Anniversary!!!

  151. I have all of your books, so please pick someone else. I recently gifted a copy of _Let’s Pretend This Never Happened_ to a friend who is dealing with cancer. On behalf of myself, and my friend, I’d like to thank you for writing it.

  152. I had all of them at one point, but the curse of lending books means they don’t always come back. So Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

  153. I love all your books but Broken is very special to me.
Thank you and congrats on the anniversary 💕

  154. I love all your books and I’d love to visit the bookshop sometime, but who knows when that might happen. I’d love a signed copy of any of your books!

  155. I have all your books, except You Are Here! I met you once in Kansas City and it was ah-may-zing!

  156. I would love to have a signed You Are Here! [I have all the others signed already—ordered from your store during its early days.] Not only have we ordered from your store and had you ship to us in the Chicago ‘burbs, but we have driven to San Antonio to visit the store from our younger son’s home in Pflugerville. That’s how much I love you, Jenny! Thank you for being you, and surrounding yourself with others like you. The world is a better place for you being in it. Happy, happy anniversary!

  157. Holy shit; congratulations! If I’m the winner, send mine to a random person you pick; I don’t NEED it so I would want it to go to someone else.

  158. Congratulations on 3 glorious years! I’d love a copy of You Are Here ❤️

  159. How do I pick ONE? I have Broken on audiobook and love it. I’ll go with Lets Pretend this Never Happened!

  160. Congrats on making it through all of that! The only book I have is Broken so I would be happy with anything else but if I have to name one I would say Furiously Happy!

  161. Congratulations on your anniversary! I confess I didn’t know the history of your bookshop. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for your bookshop and all the good you do in this world full of book lovers. I would love a copy of Broken!

  162. Happy anniversary! What a weird time we live in!
I’d love a copy of You Are Here, I’ve given it as a gift but I don’t have my own copy!
    ❤️ Susannah

  163. I’ve yet to buy or read “Broken” & would cherish a signed copy. Signed by you, just to be clear. I mean I guess Victor could sign it as well, or Hailey, but I really hope you’d sign it as well.

  164. You Are Here would be a fantastic addition to my Lawson Collection. Thanks and congratulations on the anniversaries!

  165. Broken literally saved my life when my kickboxing trainer sent me a link to it and said, “I’ve been reading this and I swear you and a could be sisters. You should message her and tell her some of YOUR crazy stories! I bet you’d be best friends!”

I told her I wasn’t going to do that, but I’d listen to the audio book. Little by little, you held my hand and walked me back from the ledge I was teetering on.

That was 3 years ago. I’d be so honored to have an autographed copy. Thanks for being you and sharing it all with us! ❤️

  166. I’m a small games shop owner in Australia. We didn’t open until after the lockdowns completed in Melbourne, but there were many local small businesses we tried to support as we could when we were limited to how far and how long we could leave our houses for. The pivots I saw friends and shop owners making to keep their businesses viable during that time were creative and incredible, and we wanted to help support that.

I’m really glad that your community sustained you over that time, and that you can now celebrate three years of having your doors open. I think that the community of people who come regularly (or frequent your space online) are one of the best things about owning a shop. May you have as many years to come of this great experience as you desire!

  167. Let’s pretend this never happened! I checked it out of the library but couldn’t finish it. I read at night before going to sleep but your book had me laughing out loud and I was too energized to sleep. I also have depression and anxiety and an autoimmune disease and am an introvert that is always making people laugh so that they don’t look too closely at me. Maybe I’ll learn how to share better. Thank you!

  168. Happy anniversary! I’d love You Are Here. I hope to actually be there one day.

  169. I have all of your books (my husband loves when I read them out loud), so just a note of happy congratulations for THREE YEARS!, and hope someday I’ll get to Texasland and see where the magic happens.

  170. I don’t have Broken or You Are Here. That would be lovely. Happy bookshop opening anniversary!

  171. “Broken” is the only one I don’t own yet, and with my DH currently looking for work, winning a copy would be pretty sweet.

If I ever find myself anywhere near Texas, I will be making a special trip just to visit Nowhere. I don’t care how many hours out of my way it is.

  172. Furiously Happy, because it’s the one I recommend and give away and read over and over and over and……

  173. Let’s pretend this never happened. It’s the book that is always taken first from my offices little library.

  174. happy anniversary. I, too, have learned the hard way not to loan out books. Too often they don’t return or they come back damaged with nary an apology. I’m going to say Let’s Pretend This Never Happened or Furiously Happy or You Are Here or Broken. Any or all. Thank you.

  175. Furiously Happy, please. I shared it with a hospitalized friend with cancer and it was the only thing that could make him and his spouse laugh.

  176. Congrats Jenny! I don’t need a book – I have them all and maybe you’ll sign one if I ever get to Nowhere 🙂 What I’d love is a chance to show my 2-D art in your shop so I…
    1) Have an excuse to come to Texas and see your store (and maybe you!) in person, and
    2) Spread some furious happiness (and super gentle environmentalism) with my very happy art.
(You followed my work in the paleolithic days of social media 🙂 Things have changed so much over the years!!

  177. When my husband turns his car off, it plays a six-note chime that to me sounds like it’s welcoming us to our destination, so I sing along (usually in my head) with what I think it’s saying: “Here you are; you are here.” So I’d love a copy of “You Are Here.” 🙂 Congratulations on where you are!

  178. Hi, Suzy Q here! @suzyquzey

    Congrats and happy anniversary! 💖

    Would love You Are Here

  179. Congrats and Happy Anniversary! I read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened when my daughter was in HS. I was reading it while waiting for her hair appointment to finish up and enjoying myself quite thoroughly. After the appointment, she informed me I was “never allowed to read that book in public again” Why? I asked. Apparently I was snort laughing through her entire appointment and “it was sooo embarrassing, Mom.” She just turned 30, and I’ve read a lot of books since then. This is still one of my favorite books.

  180. And this post makes me so happy for you, the bookstore and the people who find safe haven there.

  181. You are here. And this is my reminder I need to visit your store agaun

  182. Your store is on my bucket list, I very much want to visit..thank you for all you do for the Broken, the Depressed, and the Odd. I would be very happy to have you are here. Not only do I have the other books, but I frequently give them as presents to friends who need to hear your story, and need to laugh. Thank you..

  183. Happy Anniversary! My copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is showing lots of wear & tear, so if I am selected, that is the one I’d love.

  184. Happy Anniversary! I want to come visit sometime from Phoenix. I’d love Let’s Pretend This never Happened.

  185. In late July 2021, our family took a trip to Port Aransas, chosen over Galveston because the route took us through San Antonio and I wanted to go stand outside and look in the windows. AND THEN YOU OPENED! We stopped by on our way down and bought tons of books, then again on our way home and bought another ton. My kids still talk about it and our feet around the Middle of Nowhere is my phone lock screen. I’m so glad you exist!

  186. Such a tough decision! But I just flipped a coin and it was heads for Let’s Pretend This Never Happened

  187. I’m “Furiously Happy” (in the best possible way) that “You Are Here,” Jenny, having loved your prose since finding “Let’s Pretend” a dozen years ago. Sign anything, but please keep writing.

  188. I’ve read all but Broken. I loved this post, reminding me of the wrong but right way to do business in covid times.

  189. Crappers, I already have copies of all your books. Sure, they aren’t signed but they probably should go to someone who doesn’t have one. Anyhow happy Bookaversary! I’d drop by your store but that’s a heck of a long drive.

  190. You are here! So proud of you guys. Safe havens like this are so important to all of us! ❤️

  191. I would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, it’s the only one I don’t have a hard copy of. 😍🥰😍

  192. Broken
It’s the only one I haven’t read yet! And just so you know, the book club may have saved Nowhere during the pandemic, but it also saved me. It was so nice to have a curated little world to escape into every month when navigating life was so stressful. ❤️

  193. You are here!
We’re still here in time that is passing so quickly the edges are blurry.

  194. You Are Here! (I purchased signed copies of the other three during my last trip to SATX). This would complete my collection!

  195. I’m glad that my friend Jenni from Texas pointed me at your blog! You Are Here is the one I don’t have and would love to have in print, please!

  196. Congratulations on your bookstore’s anniversary. I’d love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.

  197. Happy Anniversary to Nowhere. Hope I have an opportunity to visit someday!
I would be ever so grateful for a signed copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.

  198. Either my phone hates me or so many fans were responding with a comment, or both, that once again my previous comment didn’t go through.
Anyway, your next book would auit me just fine. Thx

  199. Oooh! Broken!

And I am singing you the Flinstones Happy Anniversary song in my head!!

  200. Happy Anniversary!! Way to go with Nowhere! I’m so happy for you. You’ve touched and helped and made so many of us laugh along this whack-a-mole journey. I would love to add You Are Here to my collection if I get picked. Thank you!

  201. Furiously Happy, I keep buying that one…and then finding someone who needs it more.

  202. I would love furiously happy! it changed my life in so many ways! Keep on going with nowhere! would love to visit in person one day!!!

  203. I so appreciate all of your books which have brought me comfort on so many days. Would love a copy of any of them!

  204. You are here. It’s the only one not on my bookshelf. My friend “borrowed”/ stole it & I don’t have the will to ask for it back 🙂

  205. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened 💗💗💗

I’m so glad you all followed your gut(s)!!

  206. Congrats on all of the anniversaries and milestones!
Broken is the only one I don’t have yet so… Broken

  207. Let’s Pretend this Never Happened. This book along with the infamous blog post about Beyonce brought a group of grad school friends together and kept us together. One even met you years ago and brought in several smaller sized metal chickens to autograph. And yes, mine sits up high on a shelf ruling over my little hippie enclave, startling the teenagers who happen to look up. Thank you for all your hard work and chances you have taken. You have brightened the lives of so many.

  208. Don’t tend to comment but I do enjoy reading your blog. And loved your book Let’s Pretend this Never Happened. Congrats on your 3 year anniversary on what looks like a fabulous bookstore. Next time I ever get to San Antonio I’ll have to stop by!

  209. I would enjoy reading Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! I am a longtime follower and fan, but usually I hide in the shadows and lurk 👀 Thank you for EVERYTHING you do Jenny !

  210. Congratulations! The world would be a better place if there were more people like you and bookshops like yours in it. You inspire (and entertain) me every day. Thanks to you, your family, your staff, and everyone else who makes the magic happen. Here’s to 3–make that 300–more years!

  211. I love and have copies of all your books. I would love to have an autographed copy of your first book, though, to give to my daughter. Thank you for sharing your passions and fears

  212. I love your books and the fact that you run such a cool bookshop and that you have stayed open through thick and thin. Small neighborhood businesses seem to be fewer and fewer these days. I applaud you!!

  213. Let’s pretend this never happened! I love that book so much and it’s my go to book recommendation when someone asks for one <3

  214. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. It was my Jenny Lawson gateway book.

  215. Congratulations!! Another 333 years! I would love to have Broken. Thank you for sharing yourself and Nowhere with us!! My daughter loves her sweatshirt and proudly wears it in Ohio.

  216. Furiously happy please because its the first book of yours that I read and I made my book club read it as our inaugural book and now the bookclub girls have gone from some mums I knew vaguely but thought I’d get on with to being my surrogate family/soul sisters/people who i’d hide a body for without questions!

Books and bookclubs are THE BEST!

  217. Your bookstore is one of the main reasons I want to visit Texas some day (I’m in Ontario, Canada!) And I know I’m far too late to win a book, but I would love a signed copy of You Are Here so I can actually colour in my copy! 🙂

  218. Congratulations on three successful years and showing the world yet again, there is no “right” way to do what you love. Thanks for being a safe and magical space for everyone!

  219. Jenny, your stories are always delightful, but this tale of tenacity and survival in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds is by far my favorite. Congratulations on creating something unique and glorious that serves people in a variety of ways, and happy anniversary to Nowhere Bookshop! Because I left my copy of You Are Here behind at my last job to be enjoyed by Special Education staff and students at a Mandarin and Spanish language immersion school while I pursued my dubious dream of working for the county Public Works department (which I do love), I would be thrilled to have a new – and autographed – copy… but looking at when this post went live, I may have missed the cutoff. 😅

  220. Congratulations! You are here is the one I would like. I have my Fantastic Stranglings member pin and my Be Nice mug at work so I can see them everyday and smile

  221. “You are Here” would complete my collection! And be a true dream🥰

  222. Broken, your first two books have been played on audio as I drove 10 hours one way to pick up my sick child from a beach trip with her cousins. She spent the whole time in the room until I picked her up. We are now 5 hours from home in a hotel room hoping for a “window of opportunity to drive a little more. Not looking promising. Hotels are expensive, just saying. Thank you for the company.

  223. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!

My bland opening t-shirt is still one of my most favorite shirts to wear. 💜

  224. I’m here in the UK and your posts, weekly Friday insta happiness, your books and the updates I get via email. As someone with mental health issues as well as auto immune illnesses all that you post gives me a reason to smile and laugh out loud at times as well.
The only book I’ve not read is Broken so would love that if this is open to the UK.

  225. Congrats!! Hard to believe it’s been that long. I have all of your books but I’d love a signed copy of my favorite, Broken.

  226. You rock! Congrats on the store anniversary! I’d love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend this Never Happened. Thank you! Sara in KS

  227. Congratulations! I would say dealer’s choice on the book but I don’t want to put that kind of pressure on you. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is my favorite.

  228. Congratulations! You are Here is the only one of yours I don’t have.

  229. I’m sure this is too late but anyhoo…. Congratulations! I would love to read ‘Furiously Happy’ or ‘Broken’!

  230. Broken
The only book I have not yet as printed version, cause I still hope for it to be translated into German.

  231. Love you Jenny. I’m sending you positivity as always. I’ve read (& already own) all your books, so I’m not entering the raffle.

  232. Jenny, joining your book club kept me sane during The Plague. I felt just the right amount of connected to other people as I wanted by being in your club. If you choose me to win a signed copy I would like it for my sister. I’m going to choose Broken for her. Thank you for your light even when you feel dark.

  233. You Are Here is the only one I don’t have either in physical or ebook form. A signed copy would be a treasure! Thank you for all you do and providing a light in the darkness. Congrats on 3 years (and then some) of book store awesomeness!

  234. Furiously Happy!
I found your Let’s Pretend this Never Happened in an Op shop today and that’s both wonderful and sad at the same time. It brought me to you and I think that’s a good thing and $2 is still a lot to pay for an Opshop book. I’ll get it next week (I didn’t have any money on me at the time).

  235. Furiously Happy!! (I probably missed the boat on this but can’t hurt to still try!)

  236. Thanks for being my favorite out of town bookstore I’ve never been to but will get to eventually!

I’d love a copy of You Are Here 💖

  237. Congratulations. If I ever get to Texas, your store is the second stop. I’d love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.

  238. Wow, three years! It’s incredible how far Nowhere Bookshop has come. Your dedication and passion are truly inspiring. I’m so grateful for the amazing books and community you’ve created. Thank you for everything you do. I’m excited to see what the next three years bring!
