First off, a giant thank you to everyone who loves us because Nowhere Bookshop was named the Reader’s Choice Best Independent Bookshop in San Antonio in the San Antonio Current. WHOOP.

Secondly, today I wrote about stealing time from death on my substack if you want to read it.
Third, my favorite new releases this month are The Hounding by Xenobe Purvis and Tantrum by Rachel Eve Moulton. I picked The Hounding for the Fantastic Strangelings Bookclub. It’s like if The Crucible and The Virgin Suicides had a baby that was stolen and raised by We Have Always Lived in the Castle.
And I picked Tantrum for the Nightmares From Nowhere Book Club. Interestingly, this book is also an exploration of female rage…but a little bit darker.
READ THEM BOTH IMMEDIATELY.
Fourth, if you need more new releases to fill your month, I highly recommend Full of Myself: Black Womanhood and the Journey to Self-Possession by Austin Channing Brown and
Lucky Day by Chuck Tingle.
Fifth, Hailey is feeling better and their cranial palsy has recovered enough that they don’t have double-vision until the evening when they get tired. HELL YES FOR BABY STEPS IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
Sixth, I can’t remember the sixth thing.

Congrats on having such good news – Hailey recovering and recognition for Nowhere.
Six! Six! I forget what six is for!
Isn’t that a line from Kiss Off by the Violent Femmes?
Cheering baby steps in the right direction!! Baby steps are good. *trying to remind self of that*
Congratulations!!! I love Nowhere so much. You have a beautiful bookstore.
I’m so glad Hailey is doing so much better!!!
Big hugs!!
It’s always great when independent bookstores get the recognition they deserve!
I’m so glad Hailey is feeling better!
Every baby step towards the right direction is one step further away from the bad direction. Whoop whoop!!
So happy for Hailey’s recovery!!! The other 4 are great too, but their continued recovery is #1 in my book! 💜💜💜
That is a list worth celebrating. Hope you get even better news tomorrow
Thank you! Glad to hear Hailey is doing better. I wish you both health and happiness.
So thankful Hailey is doing better and that you and your bookstore are thriving!
I know lots of non-grannies who are into these but there’s usually a reason behind the name. They were dubbed grandma hobbies because adolescents/young adults are too busy being social and moms are too busy, period. Grandmas finally have enough time available to take up hobbies. 😁
Could we PLEASE have is a pic that is not scary, dark, or dystopian ??
(I do tend to pick books that have at least a little strange darkness to them but are still uplifting in some ways. Sorry! But I will say that our Happy Endings Club is much more lighthearted and cozy and I would totally not be mad at you if you wanted to switch over to it. 🙂 ~ Jenny)
Bravo to everything 👏 🙌 👌 🙏 👍 ❤️ 👏 🙌
Congrats on all the things even the mysterious 6.
yayyyy!
CONGRATS!! And yay for Hailey! I just finished The Hounding last week and loved it. Hate that the answer to, “Is it more socially acceptable to be a woman that turns into a dog or to be a strong independent woman?” is … be a dog-woman.
So glad Hailey is feeling better
substack platforms nazis and i will not give them a click.
sorry jenny, not even for you.
Im so glad your Hailey is mending. ❤️ Huge weight slowly melting. And I cant wait for my first trip to The Nowhere Bookshop! Its a bucket list item for me! Congratulations you guys!! 👏 👏👏Bravo!! 🥰😃

I am so glad that Hailey is getting better!
Congratulations are in order! And I am so relieved to hear that Hailey is getting better!❤️
Hailey is doing a little better. YAY!! Congratulations on the cudos for Nowhere. I’m just about to read an arc of Tantrum that I borrowed from work. So looking forward to it.
More celebatory dancing for Hailey’s health improvement.
Wow, San Antonio Current readers sure have great taste. Nowhere Bookshop, you say? Sounds like the perfect escape hatch from reality. Maybe I need to book a flight. Independent bookstores are the backbone of literary culture! I was once helping my grandma declutter her attic and unearthed a whole box of first edition paperbacks, totally musty and forgotten, worth a fortune! That felt like finding hidden treasure – almost as thrilling as a crazy power-up in Slither io. I quickly sold it at a higher price.
Huge congrats on being named Best Independent Bookshop! That recognition is so well-deserved. Also, The Hounding and Tantrum both sound incredible, I love how unique your picks always are. And yay for Hailey’s recovery news, that made me smile!
Congrats on being named the best independent bookshop—that’s so well-deserved. The book recommendations sound fantastic, especially The Hounding. The description alone has me hooked! And wonderful news about Hailey. It’s awesome to hear about those positive steps forward.
