Remember when I was on the Katie Couric show last year to talk about The Traveling Red Dress, but then my cat totally hogged the lime-light? Well, apparently whatever Hunter S. Thomcat did worked, because I just found out that the segment won an Exceptional Merit in Media Award last night. This is very nice because it’s the swankiest-sounding award I’ve never heard of before, and also because the segment would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the support and amazing work done by thousands of you here on this blog. And that’s why I’m giving the award to you. It doesn’t exist in real life, so you just have to trust me that I’m handing it over to you. See what you don’t feel in your hands right now? That’s the award. You are welcome.
And to celebrate, I’m giving away red evening gowns to several randomly-chosen commenters. (You’ll get a gift card so you can order your size correctly.) Just leave a comment if you want in. And if you want to donate a red dress, photography skills, or want to ask for a red dress yourself you can check out the Facebook page.
PS. It just occurred to me that pretty much anyone can make up awards for anything they want so I’m making this one for you. Feel free to use it in your resume.
PPS. Several of you have pointed out (quite correctly) that “first annual” isn’t really a thing. Probably because they recognize I’m not responsible enough to have a second annual award. And they’re right. But bad-ass motherfuckers don’t care about logic and grammar. They care about kicking ass and being awesome. And about who would win in a fight between zombies and unicorns. And sometimes they care about grammar too. Dammit, Jenny. Get your shit together.
Congratulations! Your blog helps me get through the week.
Congrats on your award and thank you for sharing it with all of us! You rock!!
Red is SO your color! And you have made it our color too. Congrats.
Amazing!
That is so wonderful Jenny! Congrats!
Woot!
Fucking awesome! I hope it gets me the job…..
OUTSTANDING! I recently became a mother, and the journey for me has been so humbling. I tell myself even though I don’t look what I used to be, my body changed to make a little being. I tell my self everyday and allow myself to take it easy and go at my own pace. My baby’s smile is worth everything my body went through
Thank you so much for my award! I will treasure it always!
Wow congrats!
That’s just awesome. 🙂
Eeek! Congrats!
Congratulations!
Love it – its the BAM award!!!
OMG I can’t believe I won a badass motherfucker award…. I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life!!!!
W00t! I won something! Wouldn’t it be grand to win a red dress too? I’ve never owned anything so snazzy….
Thanks – I am updating me resume right now – this is going to get me my next job! And Congrats on the well deserved recognition!
That is amazing! Congrats to you and to all of us for being bad ass mother fuckers! I would love a red evening gown btw… 🙂
congrats on the awesome award and thank you, I am a badass motherfucker!
OMG! I was really the first commenter. BTW, I have that segment of Katie saved on my DVR and the husband and I argue about deleting it every time the recorded file is nearing max capacity. Let’s just say I win.
Yes. You.Are.One. BadAssMotherFucker.
…carry on…
Of course your segment won an award!
Congratulations, Bad-Ass!
Awesome-sauce. I love reading your blog and laughing at H.S. Thomcat. Congrats!!
Well deserved! And I want in! <3
Aww congrats! And of course I want a red dress… I need a pick me up aftee I have this baby that is making me feet frumpy and messing with my blood pressure!
Thanks for sharing! You autographed my book of my red dress pictures when you were on tour for Let’s Pretend and it is definitely in my list of “things to save in case of house fire.”
That is so cool!! I’m jealous and happy for you all at once, my fellow cat-loving, nutty blogger. Hugs to you and your star cat.
I need that award on my resume, having been unemployed for some time.. lol.
Congrats on your real and fancy award!
Congrats! It was a fantastic segment!
Awards that don’t exist are the best kind.
Wooo Hooooo!!! I always KNEW I was a bad ass motherfucker!!! And congrats!
This is even better than when I was Time’s Person of the Year!
Jennifer, it was a great and moving segment. Several co workers were discussing and I giggled inside since I know the other side of the Bloggess. TEE HEE!!
FURIOUSLY HAPPY! Yay!
Awesome! congratulations, it is such a great project.
Congrats on the win! I remember first hearing about the travelling red dress and that’s honestly what started me visiting (stalking) this blog.
Yay! I’ve never won an award before. I’d like to thank God, my parents, and all the douches I was smart enough not to marry.
A well deserved award, if you ask me. Congratulations!!
Congrats to you and us, “Bad Ass Motherfuckers”!
Congrats on the award! That is most awesome and you have the most awesome readers! Isn’t that awesome? We’re all awesome! Woot!
Sorry, I’ll put down my double shot cafe mochaccino latte espresso deluxe and back away quietly. But congrats for realz. And I’d like in on the red gown giveaway, please, thank you!
Congratulations Jenny you are AWESOME and we, your followers are very thankful for your sharing it but also for allowing us to be a part of your life! I am proud to be a “Badass Motherfucker” right along with you!
Congrats! I hope to win a badass muthafuckin’ taxidermy award some day…
So cool!!!
How awesome is that!! Congrats to all of you!! This is such a great idea and one day I hope to be an actual participant in some way, shape or form 🙂
I always knew I was a badass motherfucker. Thank you for finally confirming it.
(No need to consider me in the drawing for a dress … unless you really want me to show the Internet my feminine badassery.)
Hooray for you Jenny!
It’s seems like Hunter S. Thomcat ought to get an evening gown too.
that is really fantastic!! congrats
I’d like to thank my mom and dad for always supporting my badassery. My husband for being such a motherfucker that it inspired me to be one too. And of course, Kanye.
Ooh, ooh! Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter!
Congratulations, Jenny!
All awards kick ass! Congratulations!
Congrats on another accomplishment that you weren’t even trying to achieve!
I’m totally printing that out, framing it, and hanging it on my wall at work!
Pretty cool – congrats!
That’s awesome Jenny. Congrats! And thanks for sharing it with us.
Can I use my imaginary award for imaginary self-defence in the event of an imaginary burglary? 😀 Congratulations! You did some amazing work on that project and absolutely earned the recognition!
Cats always have exceptional merit in media! 😀 Congratulations to Hunter, and to you as well!
This is absolutely awesome! Congrats Jenny and Hunter S. Thomcat! (BTW, I’d love a random red dress to accept my badass motherfucker award!)
Congrats and I could really use a red dress right now. <3
(Oh, and I still have that segment on DVR- I admit to playing/pausing it occasionally and saying “Look, my picture is on Katie Couric’s show!)
I was sent a Red Dress from your friend at Blog con Queso and I just wore the hell out of it at my 10yr college reunion. It just came back from the dry cleaners and is hanging on my door. It’s like a red badge of courage for me. I love you for starting this project!
Wow! Congratulations on being an Exceptional BAMF!!!
Would love to win a red dress! I love your blog!! It has helped me get through many a rough day, and we truly are every bit as appreciative to you, as you are to us!! (Next book tour needs to be closer to Tampa though!!)
Oh…and yes, I would love to be included in your drawing… I have no reason to NEED an evening gown. I guess I could wear it while I’m washing dishes or something
Congrats, love!!!! You deserve it!! ???
This is awesome! I’m a big fan of the Traveling Red Dress so this makes me really happy! You are one badass motherfucker!
That’s so crazy cool!!! And an incredible reason to win!
Awesome! Everyone needs a kickass red dress! 🙂
Congratulations!!
Congrats! We all knew you were amazing!
I want to make these on business cards and hand them out! Everyone needs to know how badass they are!
Congratulations! And thank you, I always wanted to be acknowledged for being a badass motherfucker.
Whoop, that is the best non award I have never held in my hands!! And the chance to win a red dress to walk around in whilst non-carrying it?! Awesome-ness!! Well done on the award too 😀
You deserve all the awards. Congratulations!
This brings me so much joy. Best regards to Sir Hunter S. Thomcat. He is the cat’s meow.
Oh, and congratulations to you, too. =D
nobody deserves it more than you! congrats!
This is the best thing I’ve read all day… That said, I’ve been in a Microsoft class all day so the competition wasn’t that stiff.
That’s awesome! Congratulations to us!! Also, a red dress would be amazing 🙂
Now I’m a Bad Ass Ninja Mom AND Bad Ass Motherfucker. Dear My Mom: You SEE?!! Being a Bad Ass teenager DOES mean a Bad Ass Successful Future!
Congrats on the award 🙂 Love your blog!
Wow…where do I begin. I want to first off Thank God for this Badass Mutherfucker award. Without him, I wouldn’t be here. Next, I want to thank my agent, my family (ma and pops, you stood by me when I was at my most fucked up and I thank you). I also need to thank my stylist who keeps me lookin’ hott. Oh and I can’t forget my husband who puts up with my shit on a daily basis. I also need to thank my co-workers who KEEP me fucked up and give me something to bitch about. And last but not least, The Bloggess, for giving me this award and understanding how being screwed up can be fun! Thank you…thank you all. *tear*
Congratulations! And thanks for the award!
Wow, I’ve never won an award before….i’m a badass
Best. Award. Ever. Unless you count that time I won an award from my hairy dog as best groomer ever. Which was imaginary as well. The award, not the dog. 🙂
Ah! That’s so awesome! Congratulations!
And… before I go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.
*picture that being said by a Time Lord in a leather jacket*
It’s a major award!
Congratulations, that’s really awesome AND badass!
*lady-brofist*
My award speech: “YOU LIKE ME!!! YOU REALLY LIKE ME!!!”
awesome sauce! I really, really want to cross stitch that award onto a pillow!
Wow, very impressive!! Congrats!
Wow… that’s really awesome!!!!
Wonderful!
I’m in Baltimore, Maryland and I would be happy to photograph red dress wearers! I’m no professional but I take decent photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/10428495@N05/ Most of the recent ones are dogs doing agility, but I’m pretty sure if you want to jump over some things in a red dress, I could do that pretty well, too!!
Woohoo! Congrats!
I’d like to thank the Academy, and my family, and my cats. They like us! They really, really like us!
That’s so awesome! Congrats!
I totally want in. I’ve been wanting to do the red dress pictures for a while now, and never had the balls to actually do it.
Wow! Congrats on the award. I will have to look up the interview. I have read your book and loved it. BTW, I may have located Beyoncé’s father, there is a huge metal chicken at a restaurant near me. It is a huge cock.
<3 <3 <3
Since they didn't work the first time..
How totally amazing!!!
BAMF, baby. That’s what you are. 🙂
How awesome?! I just knew I was a bad-ass morherfucker and now this award just proves it.!
Not even a little bit surprised. Way to go, chica!
Congratulations! That was the only full episode of Katie that I have ever watched (I like her, but really, it’s a long show, who has that time?)
*holds non-award* I would like to thank all my friends who I spammed with links to the Traveling Red Dress facebook page because it is such an empowering project and who made this this *looks at clock* 9:58 on a Friday morning possible.
Congratulations!
Wow, I felt something in my hand. So it was your award? Thanks. And Congratulations to you.
Congrats! That’s amazing!
Awesome! Great news!
FABULOUS! I’m very excited, and I accept this Badass Motherfucker award in the name of all those who have come before me in their badassity.
congratulations! The segment was wonderful and definitely deserved to win!!
I totally need a fabulous RED dress….I don’t have one and didn’t even know how badly I needed one until I read this! Pick me, pick me, pick me, Pleeeeeeease! ????
Things like this make me insanely happy. Good for everyone.
Awesome! Changing lives, one red dress at a time!
Congratulations, the swanky award is well deserved!
You are true inspiration! Thank you Jenny!
That’s awesome! Well done, Jenny!
*happy dance!!!*
I love it when good things happen to good people for good reasons. Woo hoo!
I am so happy for you! The whole idea and message behind the Red Dress is so inspiring; that’s wonderful!!
You rock!!!
Yepppers,
I always knew I was a motherfucker, but I LOVE being Badass now too. Thanks. Now does the dress come with an interview with Katie? I need to find out what happy pills she is taking. 🙂
Congrats, Jenny.
BTW, I just got a Barnes&Noble ad for Christmas stuff…they’re featuring ‘Elf on a Shelf’ to start a new tradition. Also one for birthdays.
Congratulations! And I’d like to thank the academy for my Badass Motherfucker award. It was an honor just being nominated, but beating out Samuel L. Jackson is a thrill all its own!
I’m printing out my Badass Motherfucker award right now so I can hang it over my desk. Woo hoo!
That is amazing! This is such and awesome initiative. Every woman deserves to feel beautiful and have at least on photo of them looking hot in a red dress!!
LOVE the traveling red dress concept….very uplifting 🙂 Congrats on the award – it’s well deserved!!!
Such a bad-ass!
Cats get shit done!! Congrats!
Congrats, you totally deserve the award, this is such a wonderful movement! 🙂 I adore the Travelling Red Dress Project, and I had so much fun helping my Girl Scouts earn their Bronze Award using this concept and putting on a Red dress event for girls with Cancer. I would love a chance do wear a red dress myself at some point. 🙂
Congratulations to you and to Hunter S. Tomcat (because we all know he’s the true star, right?)!!
So completely awesome. Thanks for being you Jenny!
That is the coolest never heard of award ever. Congratulations!
Given the problems I’ve had getting a job, bad-ass motherfucker would be an awesome thing to add to my resumé. Congrats on the swanky sounding award.
Congratulations! And thank YOU for the award – I will put it in a prime location in my cubicle!
congrats!!
I’d love to get in on the draw for a travelling red dress… but if you choose it based on merit, I’m sure there’s someone that deserves it more than me. I’d be happy to win it based on random draw tho 🙂
Congrats! You deserve this award and more!
Can I enter to win it to give it to somebody else? Or does that not make sense? Canadians can’t really buy from Amazon.com if we don’t have a US address. 🙁 But if I could enter, I’d give it to whoever comments something super poignant, somebody who needs it and never gets picked in random draws? Or I could just be normal and forfeit on Canadian grounds? I guess we can cross this bridge if I’m randomly selected?
So who gets to keep the award? You, or Hunter S. Tomcat??? (Don’t say Katie Couric, she wouldn’t have won it without the two of you)
Thanks for that Bad ass award! Who knew we were so kick-ASS?! I’d love a red dress as my BFF has just recently Regina George’s me. Bitch. Help me SHOW her the error of her ways…and thanks, Jennie, for being such a cool-ass Bloggess! 😀
If I win the red dress, do I also win an occasion to which I get to wear the aforementioned red dress?
Also, I’m pretty sure a major award such as this is supposed to include a leg lamp. You should probably check to make sure Victor didn’t return it.
Shit..now I have to write an acceptance speech..
You are so many kinds of awesome!!
AWESOME!!!!! (Totally in for the contest)
Also have a red dress to donate that doesn’t fit anymore… off to the Facebook page…
Congrats to you! Congrats to us all! I am going to hang my award on my wall tonight!!
Congratulations on your badassery!!
Congrats! I love that segment!
Congratulations! Hunter S, Thomcat really knows how to win an audience.
Congrats!
Congrats! And thanks for sharing the bounty with the rest of us. The Bad-Ass Mutherfucker Award will be treasured…always.
Congratulations! This is great news!
You are amazing! And so am I! And so is everyone who follows this blog. You’ve helped me through some really dark days. And you’ve introduced me to the awesomeness that is Doctor Who. Thank you.
Your blog is the best! It gets me through!
I totally already had the BAMF on my resume, but it’s so nice to not have to lie about it anymore.
I’d like to begin by thanking my mom, my kids and my hubby for making me such a good badass motherfucker! And not to forget the generosity of the hostess with the mostess (stuffed animals) for being a light at the end of a shitty tunnel to always brighten our days!
I always dreamed that maybe, one day I too could be a badass motherfucker. So thanks!!
I’ll bet that bitch Katie Couric thinks she should get credit for this.
Just kidding. I love Katie.
It’s your important message, Jenny, that brought this all about. We thank you for that. <3
I would love to win a red dress! Also, to be the Badass Motherfucker of the year is just… humbling. Thank you to my devoted public (which would be my anger-issued, sometimes-possessed dog, Charlie).
Random comment! I love your blog! You are my “honesty” role model.
Yay for awards! I’m revising my resume now.
You are totally awesome! Congrats on your award!!! The traveling red dress is a splended idea, and I actually know someone that participated in it. I would love my own red dress too!
Thanks! You are BAMF Queen 🙂
Woohoo! Well deserved and keep rocking on.
Woohoo! I won! Thanks for the pick me up – a great way to end the week. Actually – congrats on the award and the segment was as amazing and inspirational as you are. Keep being you!
WOO HOO! We is classy up in here!
Seriously, congratulations. The light you shed helps SO many people. You’re a gift.
Congrats on your award! I would love a fancy red evening gown! I don’t really have anywhere to wear it, either, but I could play dress up and get my partner to take me out to dinner. He’d probably stay in shorts (because pants are the worst things ever, in his opinion, which is why we live in Austin so he can be pants-free* most of the year), but that’s ok because I would look fabulous enough for the both of us!
*pants-free = shorts; he doesn’t just go into public in his underwear or a kilt (although he’d look pretty rockin’ in a kilt)
I won? I’ve never won anything! hahaha! Well, that isn’t true. I’ve won $1000 on the radio. That was pretty cool. 🙂
You deserve so much more than this award for your red dress project! You rock and I think that might have been how I originally found you and started blogstalking you!
There is a new word! Blogstock! hahaha! I’m a blogstocker!
That’s awesome! You’ve inspired me to get a red dress and rock it out, though I admit to not having found the one yet. I’m still lookin’ though, and the whole idea is inspirational. 🙂
So awesome
Congrats! You deserve all the awards!
Everyone can use a red dress moment, and thanks to you so many people have. It’s a wonderful thing.
Ditto to all this stuff people say. You’re great. You deserve all kinds awards. Especially ones with trophies, or Red Lobster gift cards. Stuff like that.
Oh.. whaa?? I won something?? whoa.. *Doing my best incredulous Taylor Swift face* I.. I gotta go.. so yeah.
That’s awesome! This is just further proof that you should bring Hunter S. Thomcat with you everywhere- if you get stressed, or nervous, just have him interact with whomever you’re supposed to be talking to.
Congrats to you and congrats to all of us for being BA MOFOS! Oh happy day!
That’s wonderful!!! You do more good than you know! Thanks for keeping it real!
Ooh yeah Go US! We are Badass Motherfuckers, it’s about time it was officially recognized *giggles*
I think I’d like in on the red evening gown drawing, even if it may be a bit christmasy with my teal hair right now 😉
I would 100% love a red gown! I’ve never won an award before! I can’t believe it, you like me you actually like me. I’d like to thank my brother… I mean my husband. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. I gotta go. Bye!
badass motherfucker may be the most fantastic thing on my resume. like, ever.
YAY us, we rock. *virtual highfive*
Congratulations! Anything that awards you for being you is great. We will always want more of The Bloggess.
Best and also only award I’ve won in a long time! Thank you for recognizing my badassness!
I put my award on my desk at work so that everyone would know what a badass I am. And CONGRATS!!!
Congratulations Jenny! You’re amazing!!
And slowly but surely, the cats are not only taking over the internet but also television. Next, the world.
Congrats on the award and thank you for the Bad-Ass Motherfucker award. Something tells me it won’t impress my mother though.
That’s awesome! And timely, if you see the tweet I sent you a little earlier (I’m @admiralandrea) about Red Dress Manor. Here’s the linky in case your Twitter is so busy, you can’t see me! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2476404/The-house-thats-frozen-time-Eerie-images-inside-abandoned-Red-Dress-Manor-clothes-wardrobes-photographs-walls-love-letters-strewn-floors.html
Thank you for being such an inspiration!
Because I love the word fucker, I thank you. Congratulations on your award.
Way Cool!! And thanks for sharing!
I wish this award was like that tiara in Mean girls, so i could break it apart and give a little bit of it to everyone… Oh, wait, it IS for everyone? Oh, in that case, Yeah! I am a BAMF, and I accept this award on behalf of all my homies!
P.S. I would love a red dress and the chance to feel pretty for once.
You deserve it – thanks for changing so many lives for the better.
That BAMF award is totally going on my resume…
Wearing red has always felt powerful to me so when I read about the Red Dress an few years ago I loved the idea! Congrats on the award, it’s so well deserved!
You’re always such an inspiration Jenny! (Thanks to you, I was able to go back on psych meds this week, after managing without them for 8 years, without completely feeling like a failure as a human being! So thanks. A lot.)
Holy fuck you’re popular and thank you!
I knew you could beat “Inside Chipotle!”
You deserve all the awards, made up or not.
OMG, this award is heavy! We can use to squash spiders into oblivion. Thanks for that. I’m honored as hell to be a Bad-Ass Motherfucker. Seriously, congrats on the award! That must’ve made your day. My ‘red dress’ is a tiny brown hat with a big ass peacock feather and a golden dragonfly. It gets looks, but I’m pretty sure it’s because people are jealous that they didn’t think of it first.
Congratulations. That is awesome.
Maybe it will convince me to finally go do my red dress session. All I need is a photographer. And a dress. Maybe I’ll win one of those gift cards and it’ll make life easier. I’m all for easier life 🙂
(Check your email. ~ Jenny)
Congratulations!!!
You rock, Jenny!
Congratulations to you, me and everyone! Also, I want in. 😉
Yay us! And big YAY for you (and big Thom) particularly, too!
Awww! It’s great to finally be recognized as a BAMF. 🙂
I’d love to get in on the red dress love. Working full time, back in school for my masters, and training for my first half marathon has me feeling stretched thin. Tolkien phrased it best, like butter over too much bread.
Keep kicking ass, woman!
Awesome news! Not that we’re surprised, we already know how fantastic you are! Congrats!
Congratulations! Such a wonderful acknowledgment! If I happen to win, I’ll be giving the gown to my little sister who is battling stage IV melanoma.
I would love to be included in the drawing–I can’t tell you how much I needed a validation of my badassery today. After getting loads and loads of professional rejection lately (like, to an obscene level) I needed someone to remind me that I matter. I’m going to make a badge of my own like this, and it shall read, “Hearken, all ya’ll abject fuckers! I AM FAAABULOUS.”
(Check your email. ~ Jenny)
That is so awesome! I love the idea of the Traveling Red Dress and it is great to know that the people who give amazing-yet-previously-not-known-about awards do too! Congrats!
Winner winner chicken dinner! Congrats funny lady!
Wow! i’ve never won anything before. I’ll treasure this “virtual” award forever! And my resume needs updating too, so thanks for that as well!
Oh my gosh, congratulations! I found your blog through the red dress project, and you totally deserve this. And Hunter S. Thomcat. Cats always deserve awards.
Yay! An Award! Cats make everything better. Except banana pudding. Congrats!
Congrats Jenny! You and your project deserve it!!! My daughter could really use a red evening gown and I would love to be able to give her one!
I was in the audience at the Katie show last year. Came to see Brene but was thrilled when I discovered that you were there as well. One of your red dress recipients, Susan Neiber, aka Whymommy, was my mother’s neighbor. Her blog, ToddlerPlanet, introduced me to the entire blogesphere where I found amazing, intelligent and inspirational women like you, Brene, and so many others. It gave me chills to see that dress on the stage. (Went home with a gift card to buy my own red dress which turned out to be traffic cone orange in real life! Will wear it next time I have to do road work and don’t want to get hit.) Love you, loved your book, and congrats on the award!
Big congrats on the totally deserved award for your segment!
Not trying to be a dick or anything but failing totally. It should be “inaugural” or “Annual” on the certificate not “First Annual”
DANGIT! Why am I not wearing a super awesome red dress & dressing up as the Bloggess for Halloween?! OR I coulda been Beyonce the big metal chicken! BLAST. Totally missed opportunities. Costuming fail.
Thank you so much for this award. I haven’t prepared an official thank you but this award made my day. Tee hee…I so needed this today… 🙂
Your blog never fails to make me smile when I need it most… 🙂
Congrats! That’s so awesome that they recognized your efforts!
Congrats! I love the idea of the red dress and would love to find one for myself.
I am totally printing that award and hanging it over my desk at work. I’m sure my boss will be ever so impressed! I might even get a raise! Or a banquet in my honor! And I would certainly need a red dress to wear to it!
You completely rock, by the way.
You deserve all the awards ever, for being so damn awesome.
Congrats!!!! That is fantastic news! Will you share the award with Hunter S.? 😉
This is my first time commenting, though I’ve been stalking you for quite some time now.
This project (and also this blog) is made from pure awesome-sauce. And magic. There can never, ever be too much confidence in the world. Neither can there be too many red evening gowns worn by women all over the world.
And also, thank you making it okay to be rambly. And strange. And using words that have not been used before, but that still make sense. And for all the laughs.
Thanks for being so awesome with us and for us and greetings from a very small country in Europe, Estonia!
I certainly hope whoever accepted that award in person thanked Mr H.S. Tomcat. Obviously it was he who sent the votes over the edge.
That is so bad ass! Congratulations. No one can deny the power of the Red Dress.
Congratulations! I don’t have cable but I still managed to catch that. And what a great way to celebrate. But they definitely should have used your name for the award.
Gosh, I never win anything. 🙂
..Can I put this up at work?
And this just goes to show that what you touch turns to gold. Can you maybe come touch something over this way?!
Wow, what a great award! I can put it right next to the “Dive Naked” tshirt I had framed, because it was such a success when I wore it to teach Bible school! Life just keeps gettin’ better, Bloggess.
Congratulations! And thank you for my award! I’d love to wear a red dress- how awesome!
you are the bomb.
I would like to thank the academy for this imaginary award. Indeed, I have always felt like a badass motherfucker, so it is wonderful to be recognized. I will place it in my trophy case with all my other imaginary awards.
That imaginary award is going to look so bad-ass on my imaginary mantle.
So I remember when I first heard about the red dress and whatnot and I was super interested in it but I thought to myself that there wouldn’t be a dress that would fit me that I would be able to appreciate stylistically so I never pursued the matter. After some MAJOR life changes I am finally back in the gym and trying to lose weight and be a healthier, better me which includes treating the bipolar and PTSD, having divorced an abusive ex husband, and finding the person that I was before I got buried under all of the negative experiences that I had. Maybe I will try to find a red dress after all…
I LOVE the red dress project. Congratulations, you fabulous soul, you! xoxox
So awesome. Count me in!
congratulations Jenny!! You deserve this!!
I am printing that award out for my co workers. Hilarious!
Congrats! Your blog is amazing!
Awesome!!! You deserve it! Congrats!!!!
Yay!!! Your blog has helped me through bouts of depression by reminding me that I’m not the only one. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I love when worthy causes win awards!
This is fantastic! So well deserved. When I finish my cancer treatments I plan on getting a red dress and celebrating. Then I can pass it along to other awesome women.
I received a red dress over a year ago, when I got it I didn’t really feel worthy of wearing it for a photo shoot so it’s hung in my closet. The red dress now will be making an onstage appearance (unfortunately not worn by me) and after its performance will be going to a photo shoot with me. I now feel worthy. I have overcome several obstacles in the last year of my life. I’m a fighter and a survivor and you and the tribe I have found have made this possible. I will be finding someone to send my dress to as soon as my photos are done.
I could be “devil in a red dress” for Halloween. Or Thanksgiving. Or Christmas and Hanukkah. Or 4EVA.
I so want to lick your face again.
Yes, I definitely want in & congratulations! 🙂
You like me. You really like me! I’d like to thank the Academy…. What, you’re giving me an award and I don’t get an acceptance speech? I call shenanigans.
Congratulations! That’s really amazing news ! Obviously that piece was quite inspiring for so many!
If I were to wear a red dress it would probably freak out my 7 yr old. For years I wouldn’t touch red because when I wore it I felt so “out in the open”. And as much as I like attention I didn’t like THAT much attention. So I always told her I would never wear it because the color just didn’t work for me, it was too much. And yet she tells me all the time she thinks I would look great in it(I did buy red underwear and that freaked her out).
Also, red is close to orange which is the color for MS, and mine is not doing well these days at all. And I would never EVER wear orange. So maybe red would be close enough? I wouldn’t mind giving it a shot. Plus it might thrill my kid to no end to see me in the color.
I am honored. I’m ordering t-shirts for me and my dogs to let the world know how big a Bad-Ass Motherfucker I am. Think you can get Samuel L to follow me around announcing this to everyone? Cause I’m thinking the shirts just won’t do it.
Shelle, Milo, Dixie and Newby,
Hooray for us! We are stupendous!
CONGRATS EVERYONE… We seriously all rock.
I think I am going to update my resume with this new award. Is motherfucker inappropriate for a resume?
Congrats on winning!
I love this! What a great award! PS the contest is cool too, but you are way cooler!
Can we get red dresses in Canada!? 😀
Congrats, Jenny!! You are a class act.
These posts in my newsfeed always make me laugh! Congratulations!
Hell yea, that’s awesome! I’m in!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! You deserve it for how much you inspire & touch so many people!
I would TOTALLY benefit from a red evening dress…. and then I can send it on it’s own travels! I thought about doing the same with a grey/silver dress and branding it with ‘depression lies’. I know it’s just a moment, but feeling pretty is a moment that depression didn’t hold you down and nail you to the floor. I live for those moments.
You deserve every award coming to you. Your blog and the readers comments has brought me countless moments of laughter, inspiration, and self-discovery epiphanies. Go you, and thank you!
Awesomesauce! I really enjoyed your book, BTW. Thanks for bringing your humor and perspective into the world!
That is amazing! Congratulations to you and to the readers! I love the red dress project and what. It stands for, it would be an honor to be apart of it.
Congrats! Everyone needs a red ballgown. Feeling beautiful is a right, not a privilege. 🙂
I am so excited for the Traveling Red Dress project. It it such an amazing and uplifting idea. I hope one day I can take my own pictures in a Traveling Red Dress.
That segment was excellent! Red Dresses rule. Congrats.
That’s awesome news (both you award and mine)! I’d love to wear a red dress and do a photoshoot– this year’s been a bit on the rough side, and I’d like to start next year in the right mindset!
woo hoo! Red is NOT my color but I still think this is an awesome thing.
Congrats! I’ve done red dress sessions for my daughters. So fun!
Oh Jenny… Your little tribe isn’t so little anymore. You’re kind of the epitome of bad-assed-mother-effers and I hope that a smidgen of your generosity and awesomeness rubs off on the rest of humanity. Because we kind of need it. Desperately.
You continue to amaze me! (Ditto for Hunter S. Tomcat)
Thanks for being inspiring to all of us in so many ways. We laugh, we cry, we’re right there with you. =)
I am forever grateful to you for the Red Dress. I had my red dress moment a couple of years ago (after winning one you were giving away), and it really changed things for me. I still use those images to remind me that I am beautiful and strong and brilliant. Congrats on the award. You’re awesome.
Congrats 😉
Love you and all that you do! Thank you for making my life a little more awesome. You are a true inspiration.
Congrats!!!
Awesome!!
The traveling red dress is truly inspirational
That is so cool! Sounds so schwanky too! Congrats!
And a well deserved award it is ! Now, hide the alcohol lol
Once again, Beyonce get’s overlooked…..
Maybe you should put her in a red dress?
Because red dresses make everyone happy 🙂
I’d love a red dress so to wear fairy wings with a dance around in a park in moonlight, but you winning an award is just as good.
Congratulations! You inspire me to be real in my writing. I recently wrote about my son’s yarmulke falling in the toilet and then him subsequently peeing on it for my column in the Baltimore Jewish Times. No more hiding what real life is like, thanks to you!
Congratulations! Any blog that uses the term bad ass motherfucker is a winner in my book. You rock!
Yes!!! I love being a bad ass !!!! Holla
Congrats! Jenny, I think everything you deserves an award. And, thank you sharing it with us.
I just have one minor suggestion for the BAMF award. It needs Beyoncé poking out somewhere. She’s the original MFer in your stable. 🙂
It’s about time I won something! Yay for me! Thanks JL!
This is the best nonexistent award I’ve ever gotten! The only thing that would make it better is my own red dress.
I want in!
I really need a red dress.
I’m thrilled for you. And us.
You totally deserve it!! Not only are you a wonderful specimen of humanity but shoulder cats need to be recognized as the awesomeness that they are.
Congratulations on your award!!! And you are the most badass among us!
I’d like to thank the academy…but seriously, can I add this to my resume? I LOVE what you do here. Keep it up!
I would very much like a red dress. I have been struggling a lot lately and would love to be the start of a new dress that is sent traveling around the world to inspire others. But first I need to wear it and remember that I am worth it to remind me to find beauty in me, the moment, and appreciate the fact that I am still winning the debate against depression’s lies.
Amazing! All of this!
Whee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my award! Thank you so much. 🙂
Badass Motherfucker Award > the scores of “Sunshine Brightness” or “Angel-faced Optimism” awards I see on so many blogs today.
I shall take it and place it proudly on my resume, a sign of victory in the face of weakass father-fuckers. And when they invite me on stage to accept it, I shall twirl wildly like Katniss Everdeen, ablaze in a red evening gown.
That’s bad-ass! Does Katie Couric get a red dress, too?
Nice 🙂
First…CONGRATS!! Second….I’m going to keep my fingers crossed I can snag one of these awesome prizes. My family has fallen on very hard times, and my depression has gotten the best of me at times through this….roller coaster ride as of late. Being able to wear my own red dress, and feel beautiful, and positive for even a little bit would raise my spirits. I’m not trying to sell a sob story, because I know this is chosen at random. I just know you too suffer from depression, and honestly….I’m not sure how to handle this. Your stories give me a moment of laughter, and I thank you so much for that! 🙂 Again…congrats…you deserve it 🙂
That is awesome Jenny. I love your blog and the fact that you post “real” issues. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful award for a wonderful cause! This award will replace all of those ‘Participant’ ribbons accrued throughout the years.
Congrats! That’s fantastic!
That’s great! Congratulations everyone!!
Yay!
They say to never take candy from strangers, but awards from people I’ve never met but follow religiously on the internets must be okay, right? 🙂
Does Beyonce’s catch phrase need to be changed to “Knock, knock, bad-ass motherf***er?”
Also, red brings out the green in my hazel eyes. 🙂
Congrats to you, and thanks for the award; it’s about time someone recognized my badassery.
Congratulations!!! This is amazing! Just like you! xo
Thank you for the award. It’s nice to have my badass motherfucker-ness validated. It’s great to know it ain’t all in my head. Thank you for making life a little more fun and a lot more awesome.
I would like to thank the Bad Ass Dress Association of the Seriously Sad (BAD ASS). It was an honor just being nominated. Congrats, Jenny!
Wow! Congratulations! It makes me happy to see other people recognize your awesomeness.
Aw that’s great to hear! Congrats 🙂
First, I would like to thank the Academy, which is you. Then I’d like to start by thanking my 8th grade math teacher , Mrs. Tobias, who changed my life with the simple wisdom that is: “If all else fails read the directions”. I’d like to thank every woman that has ever rejected me (and that is, pretty much, every woman I ever met) for helping me to face adversity and find that precious way to rise above it. Lastly, I would like to thank my therapist that helped me to understand that only “I am responsible for MY happiness”. Without which I could not be the happy, loving bad-ass that I am today! Tear.
Awesome! Totally would love to shoot(with my camera) some fabulous ladies in their red dresses! Heading over there now.
Thank you, this just made my craptacular day full of overwhelming depression topped with a lovely foam of bad news, significantly better. I also think I’ll go offer my services as a photographer on the Facebook page so maybe I can do something fun to pull myself up out of this damn funk!
If I get one of these dresses, I will totally drag my friends out to a cemetery for a photo shoot and let them take turns in the red dress and whatever hot dresses they drag out of their closets.
Congrats on the award!
Congratulations!
Yay! Amazing news!
Does your award come with a statuette of Sam L.?
Awesome, Jenny!! Congrats and thanks for sharing it. I loved that bit, Hunter rocked it. 😀
Christa
HST should get a badass ninja kitten award for winning everyone over in his silent interview. 🙂
Congratulations to you! And to me!
If I win a red dress, you can be sure I’ll send you pictures because I’m 100% confident I can rock the look. I won’t even shave off the beard! 😀
Congratulations on the award. And I guess congratulations to all of us for winning too. I’d love to win the red dress. And after we use it, we’ll pay it forward. Congrats again.
Oh that’s great! Congrats. I would looooooooove a red dress. <3
Congratulations! You’re simply the best…
That’s exciting! Congrats on the intangable award! PS: I look really good in red.
Neat! I’m about to turn 30 and rock the shit out of this decade as a new mom with twins. Maybe I’ll buy myself a red dress and wear it on walks with the stroller.
Yea for all of us! We totally deserve this! Much love to you Jenny!
Congrats! And you REALLY DESERVE THIS!!
I’d like to thank all the people who helped me win this award. You know who you are. Thank you. 🙂
Seriously, everyone who reads this page is a badass mofo, and Jenny Lawson is the BAMF uber alles! This gives me an idea for some monogrammed towels…
AWESOME!
I will seek a mouse in a red dress in honor of the event. Surely someone has created one, somewhere.
Or will!
Congratulations!
This is what I’ve been trying to tell people for years. Thanks for the validation!
Congratulations! You deserve it! I mean….we ALL deserve it!
That is so great. The Traveling Red Dress is such an inspiration and I’m glad to see it pay off.
I’m totally putting this on my resume. It will make my skill set stand out for sure.
I love this. Also, you. In a non-creepy way, of course.
So many people want a red dress. Who knew?
Yay! Congratulations! I love the Red Dress Project and I have been trying to find just the perfect dress to do a photoshoot myself.
Congratulations everyone! I think I need little trophy with the award you made up though!!
Thats awesome! I always wanted an award 🙂 Thank you! We greatly appreciate it 🙂
Congratulations!
Thank you – I’ve been waiting my whole life for someone to acknowledge my badass motherfucker-ness! You keep it all so very real; much appreciation for that1
Who wouldn’t love a red dress?! Just watched the Katie clip of you, not sure how I missed it the first time around. You.Are.So.Awesome.
I’m going to frame that award and put it next to the pictures of my kids at work. That way, whenever anybody gives me any crap, I can just point to it and be like, “Ummm… Did you forget that I’m a badass mother fucker? Your argument is moot.”(Plus, then I’ll get to use the word “moot” in a sentence which I haven’t done since Speech and Debate in high school.)
Hooray! Honestly, this blog helps so, so much. (Even to helping make a day when one of my 3yo twins has been throwing tantrums do *hours* look brighter! …If that makes sense. My brain is brokenish.)
Congrats! That’s awesome! I love your blog, you deserve it! 🙂
How great is that! You are wrapped up in excellence and dipped in awesome sauce!
I gave away my one and only red dress to someone who needed it more than I did (and it looked better on her to boot), so I’d love to get a replacement. I’m so short that any long dress will drag on the ground, but that’s fine – I get to just hike up my skirts and pretend I’m a heroine in dire straights who must make her way across the muddy fields in her ball gown. Congratulations on the award!
I’ve been telling people I was a BAMF for years, AND NOW I HAVE PROOF!
That might be getting printed on shiny paper. And then laminated. So it’s official.
I could totally use a red dress. I promise to share it with all of my friends & have a red dress festivus we won an award party with photos & the rest. Thank you to everyone that helped us achieve this most highest of honor of bad assery. Wow- autocorrect hated all of that- especially festivus.
I would LOVE a Bad-Ass-Red-Dress!
Last night on my drive home I saw a billoard that said Suicide is Preventable. It’s part of the Know The Signs campaign in CA. It made me think of you–in a good way.
Thank you for being so open about your “stuff”. It has helped me allow myself to be vulnerable, too, and that has lead to better self-esteem, a successful relationship and a reduction in depression meds.
Thank you, Jenny. Really. From the bottom of my heart.
🙂
Congratulations!
Oh a fabulous red dress sounds so lovely right about now. Thanks for all the honesty, inspiration and laughs. You deserve this award and many more.
This was all so unexpected. It’s an honor just to be nominated but to actually win the Bad-ass Motherfucker award is incredible. There are some many people I need to thank: God, of course, my mother, my loving partner, the academy of bad-ass motherfuckers, the writers, the entire cast of my life who really made me the bad-ass I am today…
Congrats on the award, and thank you for giving it to us readers! Awesome job!
Go Hunter! You are a media darling! Oh, yeah – nice work displaying the kitty, Bloggess. You’d make a great Price-is-Right girl.
Yay!!! This project is awesome and I would love a red dress!
Thank you for thinking of me. Wow!
Shut yo’ mouth! Time to update my CV. Congratulations to you (and Hunter S. Thomcat). 🙂 I’d love a red dress.
That is so amazing for you! Congrats!
That’s awesome, congrats! It’s all Hunter S. Thomcat’s doing…everyone knows that cats rule the world.
Congrats! That is awesome!
Boy, you have no idea now much I really needed that award this week! I want to thank the little people…seriously, the 3, 11 and 14 year olds in my life who made this week possible.
That’s awesome! I’m just now listening to your audiobook, which is hilarious. 🙂
The award was well deserved. Red dresses rock!
thats awesome congrats! I would love to have a red dress. I promise after I find a reason to wear it to share it with others.
Congratulations!!! Much deserved! Would love a red dress – to wear and then pay forward!
Yay! May I use this award on my application for pharmacy school? Can I use you as the reference?
Congrats! Fingers crossed – everyone needs a knockout red dress.
Congrats Jenny, and HST as well. If u were closer we could throw a BAMF party and invite all of the ‘hood cats (the ones with good street creds) for a Whiskas Buffet. We could walk around going, “dude, where’s my cat?” and check the undersides of all the hood cats for their CIN (its like a VIN on a car but for cats.)
Woo hoo!!! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
My amazing boy/girl twins are 6 months old TODAY and so I agree that I deserve the Badass Motherfucker award and I thank you. I’m sooooo tired all the time and now that I think about it…I think I’ll regift my award to the Foldgers company for their instant coffee that let’s me survive. 😉
Xoxo
Congratulations! You help me through my struggles with depression. You are an incredible writer!
Whenever my wife hears me laughing out loud in the office, she knows I’m reading your blog…thank you for the smiles 🙂
Congratulations! You continue to be an inspiration!
This is wonderful! I hope you’re aware of how many people you help just by talking about things like this. You make an amazing difference in this world just by being you.
Congrats! I love the story behind the red dress.
Ooh, I’m saving my award for when I graduate with my Masters degree. ‘Cause that’s what it’ll be in. Bad-Ass Motherf&%kery. Ooh, yeah.
Holy crap. I’m job hunting, and having an impossible time. I’m thinking that award is EXACTLY the thing I need to really make my resume stand out. This is so totally going to work. *nods*
Love your blog! Makes me laugh hysterically when I need it most 🙂
I love everything about the traveling red dress, and would love to be able to have my own red dress photo shoot and then send the red dress off into the world to brighten up the days for lots of other people!!
Congrats!! I love your blog and how open you are. Thank you for providing me hours of entertainment and overall making my days better! You are amazing, keep up the good work!
Yay! A selfless act receiving proper recognition is a great thing.
Congratulations!!! Also a red gown would be excellent to wear to the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary fancy IMAX 3D that may lead to night terrors for the 7 yr old forever if there are too many Weeping
Angels. Damn, if I still fit into my wedding dress I would go as Donna.
Awards are nice.
sa-weet! I always knew I was missing an award that was my due, and now i have it though a “Major Award” ala A Christmas Story would have really made my day because then I could hold up my empty hands to random people and yell, “It’s a Major Award!” The reactions would be priceless.
Yay! I am so happy to have found my tribe amongst all you badass mutha-effers (I’m trying to tone down the sailormouth. I have two tiny tape recorders living with me these days).
Great job, HST, and all of us 🙂
(also, if this looks supiciously familiar, i apologize. I tried to post a minute ago and got an error)
It’s about time you won a fancy award! You’ve helped so many people and your awesomeness is off the charts. You deserve it!
I wonder if this award is big enough to break up into little pieces and give it out to all the red-dress wearing women who made it possible, a la’ Mean Girls? 🙂 Congrats to everyone!
(Yes, even you, Hunter S. Thomcat.)
** Yippie-yi-yo-ki-yea motherfah-kah **
Congratulations to you and Hunter S.Thomcat 🙂
I could really use a red dress moment right now. I lost my Uncle to diabetes in Jan. My Aunt in June to sudden kidney failure. My Grandfather 10 days later to a heart attack, and I’m going to be leaving in 2 hours to put my dog dog for sudden renal failure at the age of 4.
You are a bright spot in an otherwise shitty year. Thanks Jenny.
That is just amazing, but I do like the name you gave the award. Actually, having worked in television, I think that is a good translation from “TV speak” to “normal person” speak.
Yay! Now I’m officially badass! Thanks!
I’m a guy but can I have a dress? If it helps I’m fabulously gay 😉
That is awesome! I so look forward to your posts!
Love it! We all need these every now and then! Plus my most awesome favorite color is RED!
Congrats! You deserve it…
Your blog pretty much makes me smile my first smile of the day, which is huge, since I rarely feel the need to smile at anything less than awesome whilest still on my first cup of coffee. And I would totally wear the red dress to read your blog, thence bringing the whole shindig full circle.
I promised my mom when I was little that if I ever won an award (at the time I was sure I was going to be a famous actress/singer/songwriter) I would thank her and my dad in my acceptance speech and absolutely no one else because if it wasn’t for the two of them, I wouldn’t have been born so nothing else would’ve mattered.
That’s wonderful! Funny story, I was delivering a pizza the other night and they had a giant metal chicken on their front porch. When the girl answered the door I asked her if it’s name was Beyonce. She was so shocked that we read the same blog she gave me a hug and a great tip.
So yeah, thanks for that. 🙂
Gonna go put up an imaginary shelf for my non-existent award! Thanks!
Amazing. I’m so glad that your important work is getting recognized. Taking the stigma out of mental illness and empowering women to put on their red dresses is a huge deal. Love you lady!
Congratulations! You rock Jenny and so do your cats.
Personally, I think Hunter S. Thomcat – and you, of course – should win every award ….ever. But that’s just my opinion! Congrats on your latest fancy-schmancy achievement. You AND your cat rock!
Congrats on the award all of us! I love being part of this community.
Congrats! Love the red dress movement.
Definitely want in the drawing for one. It’s probably past time that I got myself a red dress. 🙂
Do the dresses come in cat sizes?
You’re worthy of MANY an award in my book! Thank you for being YOU and giving all of us the courage to be US! And I’m very appreciative of the laughs you bring to my days. 🙂
OMG! I have always dreamed of winning a BAMF award. First, of all I want to thank the sweet baby jesus…
Congratulations! You deserve all the awards.
Thanks Jenny for all you do. This award is an honor for all of us 🙂 Totally going on my resume.
We won!! We won!! (Insert Carlton Celebratory Dance) I have to say, The Travelling Red Dress is one of the most magical, beautiful, and powerful things I’ve ever seen. Thank you so much for creating this.
I’m going to print out that award and hang it above my desk.
Right back at’chya!
Congratulations!! And thanks!! This has been a fucking shitty week so I appreciate you giving me an award! Haha. I think it’s about time I stuff myself into a red dress because life has been huffing some serious dong for me lately. Much love!
Congratulations–you deserve it and you rock. 🙂
Congratulations! A well-deserved reward for a really awesome project. I still dream of getting a red travelling dress. I’ve never worn a fancy dress in my life (no prom, no wedding) and it’s long overdue.
That Badass Motherfucker award will be the biggest thing to hit my resume since I quit listing my cats as work references.
I just realized — you won an EMMA. Obviously so much more sophisticated than an EMMY.
Congratulations!!
Sigh. A red dress would do wonders right about now. Congrats, my favorite bad-ass motherfucker.
Woot! I never win anything!
Exceptional merit in media, blogging, truth telling, and red dresses! Thank you for all that you do.
YAY!!! You are one amazing and fabulous motherfucker! I only hope your brain allows yourself to realize it.
Even more awesome- “our” award! I never win anything! Feels great! 😀
An award! And I never even prepared a speech!
OMG this is so unexpected! *pulls out five pages of single-spaced thank you list and oh so fab reading glasses*
yay for fancy schmancy awards!!
Congrats!!! May the Traveling Red Dress never stop traveling.
About time someone’s giving an award for BadAss MotherFucker’s – I should have at least 27 by now. Can that be BAMF for short?
Love you Jenny – you make my day!
I would like the thank my family for making this award possible and especially you Jenny!
Congratulations to you!!!
We probably should be using it as one word: BadAssMotherFucker.
You ROCK.
Congratulations on the award. You and your cat rock!
Congratulations! Thank you for your writing. You make me feel normal…
You touch lives in weird and wonderful ways. Thanks for saving so many of us, and congratulations. You deserve it!
Congrats Jenny! I love your blog, it makes me smile when nothing else can. And your cat is awesome too.
I’m so excited, I am currently on a job search and was looking for that certain something to spruce up my resume.
Now I can add the Bad Ass Motherfucker Award, its just what I needed. I feel like Shaft! Now all I need is a black turtleneck and black leather suit. I wonder if I’ll get my own theme song?
Congratulations, you very well deserve it! Your blog has instigated a plethora of intelligent discussion within my community, and had probed some hard feelings and true looking into oneself. I appreciate everything you share. Thank you!
Congratulations! You are the original SAW! (Super Awesome Woman!)
Congrats! That segment on “Katie” was moving and funny, just like your book/blog. If I were to win a “Bad Ass Motherfucker” award I would so hang that on the wall in my office.
Aw, that’s brilliant. Well deserved. Your posts cheer me up every week! x
Congratulations!! You are awesome, of course it won!! And if I win I will definitely send the dress off after I get a chance to be a part of the Traveling Red Dress awesomeness!
Congratulations on the award (and being a bad-ass motherfucker)!
Thank you for finding the humor in crazy situations and sharing with us.
Congratulations! You are an amazing human being! I would love to be part of this!!!
I’m really proud of you, this blog, and this community! yay!!!!
So kind of you! Your blogs really help so many people! Thanks for all you do!
Congratulations! And very well-deserved too. And what a lovely dress you picked for your give-away!
Yay! Congratulations! I watched the interview on Katie! It was pretty awesome!
I’d love a red dress. I’m a single mama to two amazing daughters and while I’m still struggling on my journey and battling a touch of depression and anxiety thr girls are my reason to go forward. I’d love a red dress so I can use it to do a glammed out princess photo shoot with my daughters, they are 5 and 6 and I’d love to have the photos for them to have to remember how all three of us are making our livesbetter together!
Congratulations! If you ever get to Michigan, there’s a store you have to visit on the west coast that has a birch bark canoe full of lovable taxidermy. There’s a corn cob pipe smoking possum, a banjo playing fox, and a shot gun toting raccoon among others. You’d love it!
That’s so amazing! Also, your award name is awesome enough that you don’t even need a prize to go with it for the winner!
Cats always help 😛 Grats!
I am so getting a red dress for me and my 3 daughters.
Congratulations! I would love to earn an award I heard about before too.
This blog is the most fucking awesome blog ever. It makes me laugh. It makes me realize that even though I have dealing with mental health issues for years I am not alone. I can see the humor in life again. Thank you so much for this. You motherfucking rock.
This is awesome! And of course Hunter S is the awesomest!
I just started reading your blog, and I AM IN LOVE. My sorority has a red dress gala every year, and I hope to pass along some of my red dresses I’ve worn over the years.
YOU ROCK.
Cheers!
Britney
Congratulations! It just proves that EVERYTHING in life is made better by cats! =^..^=
Yay! Way to go! Yet another win for the kitty resistance and their bid to take over the world through media.
Awesome!!! I have never won an award. The feeling must be exhilarating. Congrats and keep up the good work. You touch so many lives with your words. You make a huge difference in this world. It’s nice to know that someone out there cares and is willing to share their life with their readers – with no filters. Thanks for being who you are!!!! Hugs!!!!
If I had a red dress, I could pose for portraits with me dead weasel, WonWon! And congratulations on your (our!) terribly prestigious sounding award.
Your writing brings a smile on some of my darkest days. Thank you, Jenny.
You like me! You really really like me!
(that was bad. I’m sorry.)
Congrats!!
So…at the risk of sounding like a grammar nazi, something cannot be a first annual – – it has to be a first-ever. People use the term first-annual all the time, they are wrong.
That said, I started reading your book last night and I love it. You are a personal hero. I wish you lived nearby so we could be friends…but now I sound creepy and I am not. I have the psych. eval. to prove it.
So.. yeah. I’m gonna go before this gets weird.
Peace
The traveling red dress is an awesome idea and well-deserved for a made-up award. Rock on!
Yay for red gowns! I wonder if you got the one that I sent to you earlier this year 🙂
Conga-rats!
To Jennifer Rice, I’m so sorry this year has been so hard for you. I hope 2014 is better.
To Jenny, I looked at the other Merit Award winners. You are deservedly in very good company.
And thanks for the BAM award. I will soon be working for a manager who would actually find that funny. 🙂
Awesome and thanks for sharing the award and the red dress with us. LOVE, love your blog!!
Congrats to you and to Mr Thomcat too! You should hire that cat as your PR guy!
Congratulations! While we’re giving out awards no one has ever heard of, I’m also giving you the award for Awesomest Person on the Internet.
Congrats! The BAMF award will be going on my resume directly.
I’m going to say that I won TWO 1st Annual Badass Motherfucker Awards – because I can 🙂
Congrats!!!! Love you Bloggess.
Everyone deserves special! Red dress
Campaign helps so many! I would love one!
Wow, I’d like to thank the academy of bad-assery for this recognition. I’m a let you give me that award, but you know, Beyoncé, the metal chicken, really had the best bad-assery this year!!
Congrats, it was a good segment!
Congrads! Wine slushies all around – except for those of us paying attention to our meds.
I would love to give my good wife a red dress from you.
This is WONDERFUL! Congratulations us. And you, Jenny.
Loving the real and fake awards – the badass mofo might have to go up on my wall. Yay!
Congrats to me (oh, and you)! I’d love to make an acceptance speech, but I’m long winded, so they will probably start playing the music, then I’ll have to rush and I’ll forget to thank my mom, and oh, forget it. You should keep this award because it’s stressing me out. And because you deserve it.
Yay! This is awesome! Hunter totally stole the show
Man, we’re all so accomplished. We’re like probably-existent award winning machines.
Rock the fuck on, Jenny! That’s wonderful news!
While I don’t comment often, i read this daily-I love this blog and all of the awesome commentors!
So awesome! Thanks for sharing.
The cat should get a red dress too… just to be fair… I’m not kitting.
Oooh, that dress is amazing. You are way more amazing, though. I really do love your blog, and I’d love to win a shiny red dress. :3
Congrats! I would love to get a red dress for my awesome SIL. She has MS and loves to dress up. Red is her signature color. It would make her feel like a bad ass.
Love you and all you do. (And Hunter S. Thomcat of course!) Thanks for making depression and anxiety seem much more bearable. You totally deserve awards and medals!
Way to go! Congratulations to you and kitty too! I would love a red dress, can’t say that I’ve ever had one!
Awwwwww Okay seriously… I’ve had my Red Dress Moment… so I don’t need the gift card… But I totally require my award!!! Consider this my resume…. Bad Assery is my magical power!
Hooray! Congratulations!
That dress you linked to – *swoon*
Thank you for being amazing. Thank you for being upfront about your arthritis so I don’t think it’s a disability and more of a interesting character quirk. And thank you for being a badass that I can look up to, because all badasses need to have role models.
Yay for prestigious sounding awards. I’m thinking of categories for the badass muthafucker awards: best badass comeback to a catcaller, best basass pet halloween costume, best badass way to quit a job….
So wonderful. You deserve whatever awards you get. You bring hope to so many people, and we appreciate you! Also, I would like to get a t-shirt with that award on it, but I am around little kids a lot, and they just don’t understand… 😉
Me, me, me! I’ve always been comfortable with my body, despite being bigger, but having my first baby earlier this year really threw me for a loop. My body changed enough that most of my clothes no longer fit. We can’t afford a new wardrobe, so I spend most of my time in cheap tank tops, old maternity clothes, and PJs. Throw in the exhaustion of new motherhood (and the energy it takes to keep up with two stepkids) and one does not end up feeling very good about oneself. I’d love to have a red dress, to feel good for a day and pass it on.
congrats on the win! Now the big question: Will there be a Hunter S. Tomcat sized red dress in the future?
Thank you so much for continuing to write your blog. Your website is awesome and your book was hilarious! I kept laughing hysterically at work while reading it. People probably thought I was crazy. I always recommend it to people who want a funny book to read. It’s my favorite 🙂
WHAT?!?! No photo of a smug Hunter S. for virtually winning that award for you? (I always think of that photo of him leaping up all twisted and freaked out from your bed when you whooped during the broadcast…)
It’s enough to get a cat’s whiskers out of whack! *laughs*
Congratulations! Keep on doing good things!
Grey 🙂
Such a well-deserved award! Congratulations!
How awesome! Yay for Red Dresses! Yay for making women feel special. I love this so much!
congrats! i’m so happy for you! i’m not ready for my own red dress yet. but i’m so inspired by those who’ve found the courage to wear theirs, and – in so doing – made this award possible! you are all awesome, most especially you, jenny. thank you for everything.
*sniffle* I’d like to thank my mum, my dad… All the badass motherfuckers who brought me to this day… And most of all, The Great Bloggess herself for *actually* making all this possible and being the most badass of badass motherfuckers the world has ever known.
Congrats on winning! You deserve every ounce of the nonexistent award. I imagine a nonexistent award is really really heavy. Keep up the good work. I would love to be apart of carrying the weight of an imaginary, yet portly award.
Your blog makes me laugh when I need a smile, cry when I need a release, and take a good look at myself when it’s necessary. You make me feel less alone. Thank YOU, Jenny, for all that you do.
Congrats to all my fellow BAMFs and to the lady who made it all possible! I would love to win a red dress, in a big, bad way. I am a first time mama to a chronically ill kiddo. We are constantly in and out of hospitals, in fact we spent almost the entire summer in-patient. Last month we almost lost our sweet boy after a sudden illness. Winning the red dress would be a wonderful brief escape from the constant worry and anxiety.
Thank you for being so brutally honest about your anxiety and depression, Jenny. It gave me the courage to finally address my own so I can be more present for my son. Lots of love!
Kudos on the award, and for HST stealing the show! Count me in for the Red Dress!
I would like to thank you, Jenny Lawson, and your readers, as well as my husband, my six cats, and my mother (who passed away after a long illness yesterday) for this ethereal award that I, too, have never had. Its transparency and silky lack of substance — light as air — are magnificent! I could never have beheld such a marvel without any of you. Thank you. Sharing it is an honor.
Congrats! My daughter is wearing a swanky red evening gown, but she accessorizes with bonnets and shawls so it doesn’t have quite the edge.
I love my new award. It fits perfectly on my imaginary award shelf!
Good for you! Your blog definitely gets me through bad days. Just knowing someone else goes through some of the same crap I do makes me feel better.
Be Bad Ass EVERYDAY!
I’m terribly flattered and honored to receive the award, and to be in the company of so many other BAMFs!
That dress is beautiful and my boobs would look amazing in it. You should see by giving one to me! Lol!
Congrats on the award
You rock!!! Congrats! 🙂
You’re a badass and one of my favorite people. Ever.
AWESOME!!! Congrats on the award!!!!
Congrats on your award! Your traveling red dress project 100% deserves the recognition, don’t downplay it! You have touched so many women’s lives (including my own) I’m happy your work keeps getting shout outs!
xT
Favorite movie quote; “And when your dead I’ll wear a red dress to your funeral”
Cher in “Moonstruck”. I hope I win so one magical day I can say this to someone and have the wardrobe to back it up. Fingers Crossed.
Yay! You’re totally amazing and deserve it 😀
Cool to be recognized for something we all knew! You, Hunter S Thomcat, the red dress – all rock a substantial amount. Chest bump!
I came to your blog late–sorry, it wasn’t even fashionably late–so I missed the red dress episode until today. I’ve been having a horrible down-cycle to my depression this last couple of weeks, but seeing this today REALLY helped. I’m so proud for you be recognized with an award. Your book, your blog, and now your idea of the red dress are things I can look to when I’m feeling pretty much like my resting-bitch-face is the only face I can have. 🙂
Thank you for sharing yourself and your humor (and the awesome taxidermy and cats) with all of us. You make such a difference.
I’d much rather have a red dress than a pink ribbon. I’ve already had the pink ribbon and have the scars to prove it.
Congrats on winning! Or rather, congrats on bringing Hunter S Thomcat who was adorable and just goes to prove that cats will one day rule the world. In all seriousness, I love you and this blog. I love hearing about all the shenanigans that you get up to. This blog has helped me through some rough times lately, and I want to thank you for that.
You make my day with every post. Congrats on the award!!!
I would look like ass in a red dress, but I’m so taking that Badass Motherfucker award! Sweet!
Awards, even ones you can’t see and have never heard of are great! I love your blog and your book and I think if there were more people in the world like you, it would make things a lot better all around. Keep up the great work and fight the depression evil that sometimes takes hold. Fight the good fight every day.
Congratulations to everyone 🙂 in my favorite corner of the blogosphere.
Congrats! To you and Hunter S. Thomcat. You both deserve it.
I recently gave your book to my kids’ therapist. She returned it saying that it should be required reading. I’m going to give her the award too!
d’
Obviously, Hunter S. Thomcat is a Badass Motherfucker.
Also, the traveling red dress is pretty much a badass too.
Congrats!!
Congratulations!
Bad-ass Motherfucker is my middle name! I like red dresses. Word.
Thanks for the award! I will treasure it always!! Love the red dress!
Congratulations, Jenny! I would love to start a traveling red dress campaign myself… pick me!
OMG, being relatively new ’round these parts I HAD NO IDEA!!!!
I totally wish I had a picture of me in my dress (black satin, off-the-shoulder with a huge ivory collar-thingy) that I wore when I was Chair of a conference. In front of over 1000 people there. With the top of my head shaved from brain surgery. Wearing bedroom slippers.
When I have a bit of money, I want to donate a red dress.
Thank you for reminding me today that I dared greatly (being chair of that conference) once. I was feeling pretty suicidal yesterday and I was thinking of you, Jenny and all the awesome peeps here in the Commenting section. Depression lies.
Your blog posts give me belly laughs…..such a great medication!!!
Congratulations! Red Dresses Rock!
I’ve always wanted a Badass Motherfucker award! (How sad is it that I type that word enough that it no longer gets a red underline with my spellcheck?) I’m going to have that engraved on my wallet now.
First Katie Couric…then, the world! muhahahaha.
Oh, was that out loud? heh heh
Congrats, Jenny. 🙂
Congratulations! Totally Bad Ass!
My very first Bad Ass Mo FO Award! That beats Perkiest Blogger and Blogger Least Likely to Make a Glaring Typo any day!
You’re amazing.
Congrats! Super awesome!!!
Congratulations Jenny! I’ve been working so hard on my badassedness and it’s wonderful to finally have it recognized!
I love this blog so much, it makes me feel so much less alone in my anxiety, panic attacks, and general craziness.
Congrats on the award!
Jenny, you deserve all the awards you get, and an ice-cream sunday to boot. 🙂
How wonderful!! Congratulations! Looks like you are finally getting somewhere with this whole blog thing.
Would you be interested in reviewing these nipple stockings? We’d like to roll them out for christmas…
Congrats on the award! I’d love a red dress, I need something to wear to a wedding. Slash have badass cred among my Bloggess-reading friends.
That is an awesome sounding award. Congratulations.
So I can add the Bad Ass MotherFucker award to my blog’s awards page? Can I say it came from you? Because I’m sorry, but that would look so totally epic and, well, bad ass!
How sweet.. the media got something right for a change! And Hunter is one bad ass mo-fo and deserves some extra catnip!
Congratulations!
This is totally going on my resume!
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
Didn’t the cat technically win the award then? I’m sure he would share too… Right? Oh well loving the BAM award! <3 Have an awesome day!
I need that Badass Motherfucker award on a t-shirt. Congratulations on being awesome and encouraging awesomeness in others as well.
Not like I’m surprised or anything. For all the struggles our community goes through, we all also pretty much win at life. And you, our neurotic leader, most of all!
You deserve this award and any other award you win, or don’t win. You’re just that awesome.
Congrats, you deserve it. You have helped so many people, more than you probably want credit for.
Loves ya
Good lord, please Jenny do NOT get your shit together. Where’s the fun in that??
Fantastic! Congrats to us all!
I’d like to win a red dress but I don’t go anywhere fancy enough to wear it. So I would give it to my local chapter of Cinderella’s Closet and a deserving girl would get to pick out a dress and wear it to prom in the spring. Win, win, win and win.
Congratulations! You are such an inspiration and have the ability to put feelings into words in a way that few can. Please keep doing what you do!!!
Congrats! Well deserved. We all need our red dress moment!
I aspire to have the courage to wear a red dress.
Yay for invisible awards! *grasps tightly in hand*
Yay for you! I already have a friend in mind to whom I’d give a red dress…
Congrats!! that is an awesome award!
I’m going to put this award right next to my Biggest Bitch and Fat Fucker awards!!! I’m gathering quite a collection…
I think you should do red dress paintings…you know, painting is therapeutic if you add wine and maybe vodka or both. I’m going with both.
You are an amazing person….I want to be like you when I grow up 🙂
I have lived Badass Motherfucker for the last decade. About time someone notices and gives me an award. Thanks for noticing!
Congrats!
Congrats Jenny and Hunter!! I’m happy to take red dress pictures in the Louisville KY area -Keep in mind I’m an amateur tho- 🙂
I’ve never worn or owned a red red before….
Awesome! Congratulations and thanks for our award!!
you’re amazing!! congratulations!!
This is great! I read your blog daily, and when I say daily, somtimes that means hourly. Why? Because I can, and that makes me happy.
Congratulations!
That award would look great on a t-shirt….preferably with an added picture of Samuel L. Jackson on it.
That is some awesomely badass news! Congratulations!
Congrats! If I win I am going to be thrifty with my dress purchase so I have money leftover for a bad-ass motherfucker wallet.
Red makes me feel like a bad-ass, so there. And, its your award to give out, you can say 1st Annual if you want to!
Congratulations! I think I need a red dress in my life.
I want in!! Red dress-a-palooza!!
Wooo Hooo – what an awesome thing a red dress can do!
There is no point in making the bad-ass motherfucker award an annual thing because you would win every year anyway!
You are a Badass Motherfucker for giving away red dresses!
My friends and I have red shoe parties all the time, just because. I would love to rock a red dress at the next one! Although no one rocks the red dress like you do….
Congratulations! Thank you for the humor you bring to my life. 🙂
Congrats, Jenny! And very well-deserved! (And congrats to all you other bad-ass motherfuckers too!)
WOO-HOO!! You deserve it!
OK, I admit it–I’m a sporadic reader of any blog, even yours, which I find to be the funniest, smartest, one out there. (I DID read and love your book, though, just so you know…) Anyway, I JUST NOW clicked over and watched your clip from Katie, and found myself getting all choked up over all those previously suicidal people still being around because of your openness and honesty and the chain of openness and honesty that arose from it. Nice work, Madame Bloggess! Congratulations on all the good that’s coming to you of late. You SO deserve it.
P.S. You have such a sweet voice that it kind of cracks me up a little to imagine you presenting me in person with the Bad Ass Motherfucker award.
My therapist has been trying to convince me that I’m a badass for years. I guess there’s now proof.
WooHoo! Good good you!
Also, thank you for the Badass Mother Fucker award. Although technically it should go to my husband ( who has sex with me and I am a mother.) He is really not a badass unless putting up with my assholeness counts.
Love the traveling red dress. Changing the world by proving there really is no such thing as normal.
I was a kid, my mom said red brought out the color of my acne and I should never wear it. I’ve been acne free for over ten years and still have very few red items in my closet. I could use a red dress…
Here’s to Bad Ass Mutherfucker’s!!!!
Congratulations! I would love to sign my emails with Badass Motherfucker!
Jenny, I just want to thank you for this awesome idea… I am currently working towards (and less than a year away from) receiving my black belt in taekwondo… and once I do, I am totally going to have my red dress moment with my black belt on! I cannot wait to be is a fabulous red dress and getting pictures taken of my doing kicks and punches! XO!
It’s been a rough few years. My parents got divorced when i was a freshman in college, my brother was deployed to Afghanistan and then blown up shortly after i graduated, and this year has just been an unending shitshow. 2014 IS my red dress.
Put me down for one amazing red dress please!!
Congrats!
I’m commenting for the dress…
Like 99.9% of the other commenters pretending they care about you getting some award they’ve never heard of either. 😉
Congratulations! You deserve a completely hypothetical award! I’d love a red dress, part of me thinks I need one. It’s been a crazy year.
Congratulations!
Whoa! Love your humor, your writing, even this red dress idea, but holy crescendo musical scores, that KC show makes me heave with self-help-book vile. Guess that is why I don’t watch TV. Did Brene swallow Deepak Chopra? She’s like some female menstruating cliche of platitudes and inspirational posters I try to avoid looking at in doctors offices or corporate lounges. Obviously love you so if you care to red dress in honor of all us jaded female readers who now hate you for ‘guiding’ us to click on that KC website link (would have prefered KFC), feel free to donate a red dress to Dress for Success or my local free paper gal. Gave her a dress once. It empowered her to take a box cutter to the couch of her now ex-boyfriend after she caught him cheating (true story). Not shoplifting “vulnerability’ therapy but she found some sort of power from it … although now she’s in a homeless shelter so I guess that didn’t work out too well.
I regularly use ‘first-annual’ on purpose just because it IS silly, and silly is awesome. I have 4 to 1 odds on the zombies even though the unicorns are the true BAMFs.
I would totally rock a red dress and pass it on!
Congratulations!! I am savoring the sweet secondhand taste of success. From your mouth. That’s weird, isn’t it.
congratulations, badass motherfucker. you fucking rock.
Way to go! And thanks for the award! I accept!
if I won, I would wear it to Radiation everyday for 30 days. then I would pass it on to another cancer-fighter. but I’d probably have it cleaned first.
Greatest award ever! And massive congratulations! And I’d love to throw my hat in the ring for a dress 😀
Congrats on our (your) award! How exciting!
Huzzah!! Congrats to you Jenny!!! You deserve this, and many more awards 🙂
Soooooo what you’re saying, is, Hunter S. Tomcat is officially a media award receipient? That Bastard! There will be no living with him now. Good luck with his demands. Catnips, mousies, liver pate’
“funniest, smartest, one out there”
DAMN! Now all I can think about is that accidental comma.
I am new to your blog and just saw the interview. I have treatment resistant major depression, chronic and intractable migraines, and fibromyalgia — those are the big 3 followed by the equally sexy IBS, anxiety disorder, loooong list.
I have had all of this since I can remember. But 5 yr olds in 1979 DIDN’T get headaches, and at every new twos and turn (awesome OCD at puberty, everything 6 times, if I lost count I had to start over again). I was told I was just overdramatic, trying to get out of school and other events, or was going through a “stage”.
Migraines diagnosed as I entered college. Misdiagnosed as bipolar for 5 yrs in my early to mid 20’s. I had ECT to save my life but lost 3 years of my memory which included meeting, falling in love with and marrying my first husband. He would have never left me because our divorce was upsetting to him because it was the first time in his life he “failed”. Yeah, fuck “The Vow”.
I pulled myself up and over everything my whole life — mostly because when I wasn’t in public I was asleep. Then our son was born. No time to sleep. I had to take more time off of work (lazy liar) and finally could no longer work. A specialist I had just met said, “You have to stop working — NOW.” She was the 5th if my awesome team of doctors to say this, but the others ASKED “Can you stop working?” Hell no!! I brought in money we needed.
By some miracle I got approved for disability. Then had to declare bankruptcy. Then more ECT (only lost 2 mos of memory). My husband and I separated, but thank god, figured ourselves out with this new awfulness and have been married 10 yrs (lived together now total of 13 yrs, met 20 yrs ago. I left him because (not that I knew this then) I felt like a worthless broken thing he was now stuck with — and that no one else would ever want. Turns out they DID. And with time apart he was able to choose to be in a marriage with the new me.
I have not been out of bed for 4-5 years. Before that I could still drive and do a few things. It is hell. Seeing you on the Katie clip was amazing. I imagine being interviewed all of the time, but I can’t fly, I can’t do long car trips, I am 39 and have used a cane for 6 years (also have wheelchair and walker). But you said everything I would. That it sucks. That I only talk to and see my husband and our 7 year old. My lips crack when I go to the doctor (kind of like date night for us) because I NEVER SPEAK.
I made my living in acting and sales. Now I just yell at the TV and the cats. Cats are very forgiving.
I am hanging in there, but it is so hard. I am so isolated, and can’t be counted on to do anything. Now I lost another doctor I trusted and have to replace him…
You make me laugh until it hurts, and feel a little less lonely on the really awful days.
Congratulations, and thank you!!!!
Congratulations to you and Hunter S. Thomcat!
Does a giant red onesie count? I guess I could put a red tutu on it and it would be a red dress, but whatever. I just think you’re kinda cool and I’m glad you won the bad ass motherfucker award.
Badass Motherfucker is so going on my job apps.. 🙂
::sniff sniff:: I’ve never received an award before! I’d like to thank my computer for not dieing before I could read your blog, and my eye doctor for prescribing the right glasses….
Congrats! You deserve it and so do all who have helped and participated in the Traveling Red Dress!
Congratulations!!! I love the award! (Plus, I think 1st annual applies fine if you happen to be living in multiple timelines. See? Totally reasonable.)
Congrats Jenny! 🙂
You are awesome- thanks for sharing your crazy life!
You are magical. Congrats! I want a red dress. Please and thank you.
This is the best award I’ve ever not felt in my hands, like, ever!! Badass!!!
Congratulations! So great to see you getting all this recognition for your awesomeness.
I’d love to be entered to win a dress.
That is so awesome, congratulations!!
I knew I was a badass motherfucker but thanks to this snazzy award so does everyone else now! Congrats Jenny and fellow readers!
i always knew i was a bad ass motherfucker. Thanks for confirming it 🙂
haha, i love how your cat is the reason for all this…I got a few new followers to my own blog because of my cats , pretty freaking awesome!
BadassMOFO…. I’m in!
I’d love to wear a red dress to the awards ceremony too 😛
Love it! I would rock the hell out of a red dress 😉
Congratulations! And I would accept the award but I am paranoid that I would end up tripping and breaking my ankle/leg/kneecap/arm/pride in the process of collecting it. I, too, would like in on the red gown <3
Congratulations, you Badass Motherfucker you!
Congrats!!
That is one sweet-ass award.
I would love a red dress but if I won I’d probably give it to my friend Karen who’s had a shittastic week and could use some Red Dress magic
Thank you so much for the BAMF award. It’s true, I totally deserve it, as do YOU. I love the Traveling Red Dress project and I want you to know that MY red dress will be purple. I look great in red, but wearing the color red turns me into a bitchy BAMF. Nobody wants that. I also look sublime in purple. That’s why MY TRD will be Purple.
I love you so much, Jenny. YOU are the bomb. 😀
I love you (in a totally non-creepy way)!
That totally made up that award for you, didn’t they? 😀 Awesome either way, and even more awesome that you’re sharing the fun!
I said I wasn’t going to cry, sniff, such an honor, and to share this with such wonderful badasses is a dream come true. Thanks everyone, we fuckin’ rock!
That is seriously awesome. This is the most amazing award that I’ve never not held. I’d like to dedicate it to the mail carriers who helped make it all possible. Congrats to you and everyone who’s taken part in any small or large way in the travelling red dress experiences.
I love your blog and your viewpoint and I am happy to receive your magical invisible award! I think my husband is frightened that I have found your writing. He had his hands full with me and my own ideas, but yours are MUCH more fun.
Congrats!
Congrats! I love following your Twitter account and your blog.
PS- Send help. Currently being held hostage by a cat using my lap as her bed and her grooming parlor.
Fricking Awesome! Congrats! Red is my best color!
You deserve all of this so much. Congratulations
Jenny:
I love your blog but have never commented. I’m doing so today because I want the red evening dress!! I’m having a bad week being totally overwhelmed as a working mother of two teenage girls. While Im at it, I want to let you know that it is kind of freeing to know that there is another mother out there who curses – not with “a-holes” and “bee-yotches” and “friggings” but the full force of an f-bomb. I thought I was the only one. Its nice to know I’m not alone. Thanks.
I could really, really use a red gown right now for my mom. Not that I’m any more worthy of probably all of the people here. But it’s been one rough couple of years for her. So here’s to crossing my fingers!
That’s awesome!
I think the “First Annual” sound fucking awesome!!!
Unicorns. Definitely unicorns.
If we win do we pick Red or Vermilion? The vermilion seems redder to me than the red.
Yay for you and Hunter!
I could totally use a Red Dress! I was just diagnosed with Addison’s Disease and it’s been a burden I never expected to bear.
Love you!
Woohoo! finally! You deserve a badass motherfucker award!
Congrats! That’s awesome!
You’re always surprised when your awesome talents and general badassery are recognized and celebrated. That just makes you even more special in my book. Know this: you deserve EVERY single accolade you’re receiving, you ARE that good, and knock, knock, motherfucker – you need to OWN that shit!!!
And seriously, that BAMF award you just made up – the statuette needs to a miniature little metal chicken. Make it a real thing. PLEASE. You know you want to.
P.S. I could really use a red evening gown right now – not because I have anything swanky to go to, but because it would cheer me up from some sad stuff I’m going through right now to twirl around in a floofy red dress and forget it all for a little while. Go, Jenny!
You’re awesome lady! Almost done with the Audiobook. I’m going to miss you when I’m done…
This is far superior to many other awards I’ve been given in the past. Thank you Jenny – as usual, you rock!
That is so amazing! I adore everything the red dressstands for. I would be so honored to win one.
memememe!!!! me! … oh, and congrats 🙂
Congrats, you deserve it.
Thank you for making me smile on the daily 😉
Congratulations, Jenny! The Travelling Red Dress is such an amazing project!
Frankly, it was the one and only time I cared about the Katie Couric show. Congrats! 🙂
I have said this several times, Jenn is me and my BFF’s, BFF!
I accept this award and promise to always be an awesome motherfucker!
Carry on you bad ass mother fucker, carry on
Red dress project rocks my world…. that’s all.
I’d love to be included in the contest. And congratulations!
I just want to know if I can use the award as a blurb on my eBook. (It’s zombies, so it would fit.)
This is cool, congrats, seriously!
I have a little list of chronic, can-kill-me diseases; and I’m old (66) and in not very good physical shape. But seeing the pain some of my friends (my age & even younger) are in and the operations that they have had to endure recently motivated me to do something I hate: exercise. I do a little weight training with a lovely torturer… er trainer… but mostly I walk. I’ve gone from 5 minutes to 3 miles in just under 60 minutes. My goal is to finish (just finish… I figure I’ll be the last one over the finish line but that will be OK as long as I make it there) a 5K race next weekend. And assuming I manage to finish that race, to celebrate, I am going to find a red dress somewhere and wear it… possibly out in public! And maybe I’ll dye my hair blue to go with it… I’ve always wanted to do that! Thank you Jenny for sharing being you! It helps me at least to stop being so afraid of being me… where people can see.
They say things happen in 3’s and this is the 3rd award for my family this week! I thank you for that 🙂
I kind of love that you have had the bad ass motherfucker influence on your cat.. or was the cat the influence on you?
K
I think the unicorns would shit rainbows all over the zombies. Unicorns = 1, zombies = 0.
Congrats, well deserved!
Congratulations!!
I kind of love that your cat has been influenced by your bad-ass-motherfuckerness.. or was it the cat that influenced you?
K
Congrats Jenny!
woot woot. I always knew in my heart that I was a badass motherfucker… and I am thrilled to finally be recognized for it. I would like to thank my badass motherfucking dazzling smile for greeting me in the mirror every morning. I would also like to thank my badass motherfucking mouth for telling me how fucking badass I am every day. Thirdly, I would like to thank my badass motherfucking brain for being so badass motherfucking brilliant all the time. Lastly, I would like to thank this badass motherfucking blog… for being an open forum to use one of the greatest words I have ever heard or spoken without retribution or regret. Viva la Bloggess.
I bet Hunter S. Thomcat will just try to steal all the glory. Don’t let him!
You (your blog) is the second most important part of my day, every day, right behind coffee!
First of all, congratulations! I hope that moments like these help you to press on through the dark times, and the exhausted times, because your humor and honesty and your determination just to keep writing and the courage to put your stories out there have done so much good for so many people.
I will print this award out and paste it in one of my inspiration books/journals where I write, doodle, draw, copy down poetry and song lyrics, paste pictures and do collages to encourage myself to follow your example and continue to find my own voice and clarify my own creative vision.
I hope you start to feel better soon, and I look forward to seeing posts from you with updates because I read your blog not only for the funny stuff, but also for the stuff that you choose to share about some of your struggles and not so fun times, because it helps me feel like I am not alone in some of my own doubts and struggles.
And *takes a deep breath* — I would like to put in my request for a chance to win a red dress. Because I want to put one on and my picture taken in a graveyard while barefoot and dancing to “Happy Phantom” by Tori Amos. Then when those voices of doubt and self criticism try to keep me down, and/or my depression starts turning up the volume on the lies, I can look the picture and then look in the mirror and affirm that I AM BADASS.
Thanks for everything you do with your travelling red dress. Having been hospitalized from depression, it is not a joking matter. Passed a conversation recently where a young lady told someone she was suffering from depression and the MUCH older lady told her she just needed to recognize that everyone has problems and that hers aren’t worse than anyone elses. Lady-that is NOT what depression is! I stayed back to speak with her and she was in tears when I told her my story. She as 2 children, one is 5 mos old so postpartum is probably a factor, too. Keep up your wonderful work!
PS-I would love to have a red dress. Never owned one before and our anniversary is coming up in 4 months!
Congrats! The red dress project meant a lot to me. This is icing on the cake. My dress is long passed on. it would be fun to do it again.
Congratulations of being a badass Motherfucker!
First, that would be a decent battle between unicorns and zombies. I would like to watch that because I’m not sure which has the advantage. Second, congrats on the award. Everyone who reads your blog know you’re awesome and deserve every award out there including the Badass Motherfucker award! Third, I would love to be able to rock a red dress and it would totally make my entire year.
Unicorns.. definitely unicorns.
OH! I got comment 666! how awesome is that.
That is AWESOME! Congrats!!!
The Traveling Red Dress project, and the women who wore those dresses, were among the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
Your posts make me happy. And thank you for the award! Its finally my turn!
You rock lady. So does your motherfucking cat.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
So happy you won! I would totally love a red dress!! AND I will put my 7 mo golden retriever Penny in a RED Dress too and send you photographs. You can’t stuff her yet, she’s not old enough…
I watched you on Katie’s show! That’s how I discovered your blog! Congrats! Love it!
Congratulations to Hunter S. Tomcat! And to you too. 🙂
I could so use a red ball gown for the cruise we’re going on next February. It’s a cruise full of nerds and geeks, and nerdy, geeky entertainers, and we have a Paul F. Tomkins Mustache Memorial event where everyone wears fake mustaches, and we’re going to have a room that is a giant ball pit for adults this year! If I told them I was wearing a Bloggess gown, so many of them would get it, and love it! And it would be a good stand-in for Wil Wheaton, who won’t be able to go this year. 🙁
So in conclusion, PICK ME! PICK ME!
This is so exiting! I know that you don’t do any of this for the awards, which is what makes you so inspiring. Thank you for all that you do!
Congrats, but always remember what WC Fields said, don’t work with kids or animals, they will steal the show.
Congratulations! I would love to have a dress to pass on!
Me me me! I love the red dress idea.
If I got one I’d share it with all my girlfriends and send pictures!
Congratulations on the award! You do great work!
As far as I’m concerned you should win every award cause you make some days worth keeping on keeping on. I know that’s really bad grammar. Thank Jenny for all you do. Also, red is my second favorite color and I look fabulous in red!
Congratulations! You rock! And Roll!
Congratulations! I know I had a badass motherfucker of a year and all, but Jenny Lawson is the baddest-assed motherfucker of all time…OF ALL TIME! Seriously thank you for being an inspiration so all of us depressed badass motherfuckers remember we are not alone, depression lies and that we, the Badass Motherfuckers, will get through this. And Happy Halloween!
I always knew I was a bad ass mofo, and now, when I threaten zombies with a cast-iron skillet, I can do it confidently and ride off into the sunset with my Trexicorn.
I’d love to have a red dress. It would certainly bring a big smile to my face. The life of health issues is never ending, and the most recent is intermittent excruciating head pain caused by brain swelling. I need a smile!
Congratulations! You are an inspiration! Keep fighting the good fight.
Congratulations!!
Congrats! This is awesome!
I am in HR, and can tell you with certainty that if anyone had that on their resume I would move them to the top of the interview list. LOVE IT!
Wow! This is pretty awesome. It’s amazing that a red dress can change so much. Also, I’m sure that whatever luck Hunter S. Thomcat gave the segment, that put it over the edge. He’s badass like that.
They Just offered me a promotion that includes my own office. I had reservations about taking it but clearly it is ment to be cause I have a new award to put on my wall. Thanks Jenny! Can u go ahead and make all of my lifes tough decisions for me?
I’m updating the “Awards and Accomplishments” section of my resume RIGHT NOW. After all, what company wouldn’t want to hire a badass motherf*cker?!
is there someone out there that doesn’t want a red evening gown, really?
but seriously… i hope the awards keep pouring in because your blog contributes to the awesome in the world, and because you are always generous enough to share.
a photo shoot with a red dress is on my things before 40 list. Thanks for inspiring women to find the beauty in themselves!
I thought this to be appropriate. The Red Dress Manor

Congratulations Hunter, I mean Jenny… The blog posts, segments, red dresses etc. are phenomenal!! Thank you!
OMG YES PLEASE!! 🙂
Congrats Bloggess!!! Here’s to more awards for EVERYONE!!!
Congratulations!
Love your blog & your book! You absolutely deserve to win fancy (even if unknown) awards. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations, Jenny! If I win, I’m hoping the dress comes in Hunter S. Thomcat’s size.
Congrats on the Exceptional Merit in Media Award! Also, congrats on being such a bad-ass motherfucker! I aspire to be just like you when I grow up. I’m 36. Wait, is that supposed to have happened already?
amazing! i love the red dress project. 🙂
Oh, that is wonderful! ! Your wonderful, the show was wonderful. Introduced me to Brene Brown! The red dress movement is awesome.
Congrats, Jenny. Love your wit. Oh, and your courage too. 🙂
Just when I think my day is really low……you come along and raise me up!! Congratulations!
Zombie unicorns would kick everyone’s ass…
I did a photo shoot with my red dress… Haven’t had the guts to put it up yet. Also, I have 2 red dresses that I’ll donate, size 6.
BAM! Another ficticios award for previously inflated resumes – YOU are AWESOME SQUARED!
Congratulations! I think the Red Dress program is a brilliant idea and glad to see you being honoured for it!
Congratulations, Jenny! Way to go!
Well deserved!
Congrats on the totally out-of-the-blue award. Just like a cat to make it all about itself, right? Serendipity for the win!
Thank you for all you do. Love this blog and look forward to your posts.
Have a good weekend~
This is awesome. I LOVED that segment and reading about all the women who have participated. I think this is an amazing campaign.
Congrats on the award! Also, thank you for being you! You have amused me and helped me understand depression/anxiety more than anyone ever has.
love it! good for you!!
I’ve always thought you were exceptional… and I think Merit means you get a badge to sew onto your sash. Which is really a sewing project, so maybe keep that one for yourself.
I would love to win a red dress. I look terrrrrrrible in red, and I think terrible is a good look for me.
Well, I look great in red, so I’m up for a dress!
And for BAMF awards, I want to nominate Schmutzie. She amazes me every day with her smartness and bravery and all that stuff. She’s definitely a BAMF.
Congrats! It was a wonderful segment, and your doing some amazing work promoting the red dress campaign. Good things will continue to come your way!
Now I sort of really want to see H.S Thomcat dressed up as you for Halloween. Do they make kitty-sized hair rollers and red dresses?
I just watched that segment last night – and you ARE awesome (and HST was fab, too!). I love that gown on Amazon and put it on my wish list. I need to remember how it feels to dance in a red dress.
Congratulations 🙂
Hmm…I’ve always said how surprised I am, that there aren’t as many opportunities to wear evening gowns as I thought there’d be. Don’t grown-up ladies go to balls and galas all of the time??? If I won a red evening gown, I’d probably just lounge around my house in it all day.
Congratulations, Jenny!
Congrats, Jenny! What an awesome way to start this lovely Friday…I hope you enjoy the awesomeness that is this “not real” award. Thank you as well, for all that you do to have this conversation with all of us. It *is* important.
Um, new red dress? Count me in!
Congratulations!!!!! That is awesome, I hope it gave you some energy back 🙂
you’re amazing!
You are awesome, and to have someone other than your fan-stalkers (Falkers?) to tell you that is amazing. I am glad the “normal” world is finally catching up with us miscreants in knowing how wonderful and big hearted you are! Congratulations, and thanks for our award as well!! Would also love to be in the drawing for the red dress, really could use the pick-me-up and extra touch of confidence!!
you are a BAMF
It was after watching THAT Katie Couric piece that inspired me to run out and get your book! And now I’m a daily blog follower! Love you! And your continuous thread on mental health stuff. Congrats!
I think I’m going to print my new award and tack it to the wall of my cube here at work… People need to know who they’re dealing with here 🙂
I could use a red dress moment this week. Feeling that tunnel vision coming on, and struggling not to let it over-power me. I just have to keep reminding myself that depression is a lying bitch.
Thanks for the award, I am so honored!
Congrats!
Everyone needs a red dress. If just for one day.
I could use it, out of work sucks. I’ll settle for a pretty dress… and a sugar daddy. Scratch that. Just a sugar daddy.
Thanks, Jenny, for all you do, even when you’d rather hide under the bed. You remind me that we can do hard things.
Hi Jenny, I would love a red dress!
Jess
Congratulations 🙂 This blog helps me with my own insecurities and I love the dress you linked to!
I totally think Beyonce the chicken should be presenting this award along with hunter s tomcat, since he’s creaky the driving force behind the award being given!
Scrolling through all those comments took forever!
I only recently discovered your blog, and I feel like I’ve been missing out! (but I read like 100 pages of it in a few days so I am caught up on the red dress thing thankfully!)
Ever since I read about the red dress movement you have, I have been DYING to get a red dress. My mom was asking me where I would even wear a red ballgown. I was like “EVERYWHERE!” Grocery store, class, just…just everywhere. With a full face of makeup…all the time. That’s my dream lol.
BAM! I’ve never won an award before so this make me incredibly excited. Congrats to you for winning the most prestigious award I’ve also never heard of. Reading your blog makes my life suck a lot less!
I sincerely thank the Blogess and for honoring me with this 1st Annual Badass Motherfucker Award. Believe me, ladies and gentlemen, it is a very proud recipient who is standing here before you. I especially want to thank Beyonce, who was instrumental in encouraging using the term “motherfucker” when knocking on doors. This has greatly improved my ability present myself and has allowed me the time to indulge in what, now is my opening line while standing on the porch and knocking when visiting friends and family. This certificate will always have a place of honor on my wall. Thank you again.
This award and you, my dear, are amazeballs!
That’s fantastic! You deserve a major, super snazzy award!
Congrats!
And thank YOU for the awesome award. I have to remind everyone, every damn day how awesome I am. Geez. I am wearing the award around my neck and making a sandwich board ad out of it. Awesome with more awesome front and back that will cover all of my problem areas.
I’ve never owned a red dress. I wonder how would I look in one? Congratulations, you are my fav blogger in the whole world!
My daughter was diagnosed with poly rheumatoid arthritis at 8 years old.
Countless surgeries, bad meds like methotrexate and steroids did nothing.
Now at 28 she just had a hysterectomy from uterine cancer.
It affects those with low immune systems like the RA folks. She is now in
The deepest depression I’ve ever seen. Please help here find her beauty. Please help her see she has more to offer. Please. Thank you.
Congratulations! And thanks for sharing!
Red dresses! Sharing awards! Kicking ass!
Unicorns would win, because they can fly. Also, because I think the process of zombification eliminates any special virgin powers, if the pre-zombified person even still had them, that would have contributed to attempted unicorn takedowns.
Ooh, that dress is gorgeous! And the color is amazing! I would totally wear it to class and everyone would look at me like I was crazy and I would be like, “yeah I am crazy, and I’m ok with that” and then they would be like, “wow that’s pretty cool” and we would all be friends forever.
oh man I really need some sort of traveling red dress-style uplift. Congratulations on your award, Jenny! And from one badass to another, thanks for being awesome
Congratulations! It’s a beautiful thing that you do… you share your pain and challenges so the rest of us know we are not alone….
Congratulations!!! This award is going on my resume 🙂
I’m putting that award on my resume for sure!
Well time to update the ol’ resume.
I’m definitely in on winning free stuff!
And being a bad ass motherfucker.
And awards that I can’t actually hold.
I love the red dress. What I would give to have a pic of me and all 5 other sisters in one. With all our struggles and perserverence. Would be fabulous.
I am feeling grumpy and ugly today and could totally use a red dress to flounce around in
You are an amazing person, Jenny.
Feels good to be a BAMF, all day…
That is awesome. Congratulations! Love the red dress & the kitty!
Also, at ten years old she was hit by a drunk driver. Her face is permanently scarred forever. We are helpless to prove how beautiful she is. Please help.
(Check your email, sweetness. ~ Jenny)
Congrats on the award, Jenny & hunter s. tomcat : )
Who doesn’t like a red dress ! Keep up the good work:)
I love you. Not that I wanna pick out curtains or anything. Well, maybe a giant ass chicken…
I’m interested in getting a red dress 🙂
Nothing to celebrate at the moment at I’m still moving forward so that is a plus
Congrats lady!!!! I would love to rock a red dress or even have the confidence to do so….. Keep being awesome!
New favorite award by far.
Congrats on your reward! (I mistyped Congrats as Gongrats and auto correct wanted to put Gonorrhea on your reward!)
Thank you for your honesty and your book. I am one of those people who feel a little less alone and scared/anxiety laden because you. The Red Dress is a beautiful symbol, but it you at the heart of it all. Thank you in the most furiously, sincere, from the bottom of my heart way:).
Congrats Jenny! You rock. And that dress is gorgeous.
Oh how pretty I would feel in a badass red dress! Thanks for the chance to win one!
Jenny, I’m so glad I found you.
Yay! I always knew I was a badass motherfucker! Now, I have an award to prove it! Thanks, Jenny.
I need the red dress of life, of hope, of sisterhood! In the last 18 years I have lived in 8 houses on 3 continents and in 3 states – having to re-invent myself every time. I am feeling worn and weathered.
I would love a red gown to class up my sickroom (which is really just my living room, but could use the class anyway). Bring it on!
Thank you for bringing positive ripples to the world.
Dresses are Red
I feel blue
You make me happy when I think of you.
Congrats! Now please give me a bad ass mutha fuckin dress cuz I’m a bad ass mutha fucka!
Congrats on your and Hunter’s award! Thanks for the award. I’ve always wanted to be recognized for my bad-ass motherfuckery.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is tragic for an eight year old.
Then at 28 to have a hysterectomy because RA immune system
Has allowed cancer to invade. Dumb Arthritis!
YAY! Love my award, and Love your blog!
Congrats Jenny! I love the traveling red dress and all its awesomeness.
I rarely win everything, but it would be great to win that dress. And now that I have both of these awards, I’m starting to feel lucky!
Congrats to you on your award and to me on my award, given by you! Wooee. It was an honor just to be nominated.
Woo hoo! Your blog always makes me guffaw, in that loud, is-she-choking-on-breakfast-can’t-be-ignored kinda way. I appreciative your perspective and am so happy to hear you are being awarded for your one-of-kind, hilarious take on life. And RED ROCKS!!!!
After three failed attempts at filling out this comment form(using a ‘smart phone’ was a dumb idea) I finally did it! I knew I could do it and I am a winner! Congrats on y(our) award! We’re so bad we’re good.
As an English teacher, I would argue that it’s grammatically correct in the hopeful tense.
Congrats! You and the red dress are so inspiring and empowering!
I will be making use of your humor as my darling librarian (barbrarian?) moes us to a new state for his new job. I may actually have a use for a red formal what with faculty parties and whatnot. Or maybe my view of academic life is supplanted by cinema. I don’t get out much, but I watch a lot of movies that make me feel like I know what I’m talking about. That couldn’t possibly lead to disaster or embarassment, could it?
Congratulations on the award!
I would totally love a red dress…there’s even space for it in my closet!
OMG. Good news for Red Dress is good news for all. After the week I’ve had, and I’ve had A WEEK, I’m happy to hear good news for anyone.
Oh, and pick me. Please?
Congrats to me! Thanks! Congrats to you as well, I suppose.
Thank you for the award and I couldn’t have done it without my insanity!
i fully intend to print my award and put it in my office… You are amazing Jenny!
BAMF FTW!!! 🙂
First badass award I’ve ever got, totally makes me feel like pitting on leather an kicking something. Thank you for the empowerment! 🙂
Congrats on your media award, truly something to be proud of!
Badass Motherfucker. I think that needs to be on a trophy!
Congratulations to all of us, but especially Hunter S Thomcat who would also look FABULOUS in a red evening gown!
Congratulations! Well-deserved.
I think Hunter S. Thomcat needs a red dress. What? He’s secure in his masculinity.
Congrats and thank you!
Congratulations! Normally I’d say something snarky, but this is so well deserved. Deep down inside, you really are a class act, all the way!
Oh yeah, you know I want in on this Bad-Ass Mother-Fuckery! I would order the dress, wear it once, and then donate it to the Traveling Red Dress Project like a bad-ass mother-fucking celebrity!
Congrats! You totally deserve it.
I wanna win a red dress!!!! And congrats! you bad ass motherfucker!
Girlie, you ARE a BAMF. Perhaps you need a tattoo to commemorate. Or a trophy. Of life-size rainbow unicorns. OMG. Why do I not have a life-size unicorn for my yard? Someone should invent that shit , like NOW.
Yeah, I need some focus meds today. Random thought hummingbirds are zooming my brain. “Did you ever know you’re my hero?” Holy shit, have to stop that song in my head or I’ll be doing the ugly cry.
But I love you and thank you–for being you.
Whohoo! Something good happening in the world. It makes me happy.
I am a badass. Today’s new mantra. 🙂
Ooh, fabulous! Now I will have to build a downstairs loo, just to have somewhere to display this lovely award – it’s a win-win. What will the dress code be at the 1st Annual BadMoFos be? (I don’t want to turn up in anything other than red, obvs.)
Awesome blogging by the way, as I seem to have forgotten to say that! J x
This is the first thing I’ve ever won..okay well I’ve won participation/group medals but those aren’t as awesome as this!
Yay!! I could really use a new red gown; I’d totally take pictures in it, use it for an event, and then pay it forward!!
Awesome! Your blog makes my day! I catch myself laughing out loud quite frequently at work. To explain your warped sense of being is so hard to explain. Thanks!
Red is so my color. I love your photos with the travelling red dress! Hope to have some of my own some day.
YAY! You TOTALLY deserve, I mean WE totally deserve this!
I would love a fancy red dress…..i love all you do. Keep on keeping on.
Congratulations on the award first of all!! You are one kick-ass mum!!
As far as the red dress goes – it’s a beauty for sure – I (almost) wish I still had the boobs to wear it!!
Congrats on the award!!!
So cool congrats !
I always wear a little black dress, a red evening gown would be so cool!
You’re Red Dress initiative is one of the most uplifting things that I have ever come across. I too own a lovely full length red summer dress, and I wear it whenever I can get away with it (and often at home on a Friday night just because). Makes me feel like a million bucks. Thanks!
I want a red dress. . .
I love random awards… I got one once… in 5th grade I got pulled over by a cop (I was riding my bike home from school) and almost pee’d myself… but then he told me he wanted to award me a certificate for being such a safe rider… And I suppose he probably got kicks and giggles out of scaring the shit out of random little girls.
Hurrah congrats and hooray, you did it! I
‘ve never owned a red gown before. I’d use it for badass mother fuckery, or stuffing dead birds. Or both.
Perfect, needed an excuse to update my resume!
Congrats and thank YOU for being here. 🙂
OMG! I’ve never won anything! And now I have an award with lots of explicit language in it!
Trying to come up with a proper ‘badass motherfucker fellow winner’ salut so we would recognize each other…beside of course the tshirt and unicorn head.
It’s not a red dress, but today I’m wearing a mini-top hat in brown, that I decorated with antique/cream looking lace banding and feathers and a golden rose clip, because I’m going to Steamcon V tonight. But that’s tonight, and right now I’m sitting at my desk as the quasi-receptionist of my company wearing the hat, because it’s fancy, makes me feel awesome, and I deserve it.
And it’s all the fault of your red-dress initiative that I stopped telling myself that I couldn’t do things that make me feel awesome. So thank you! (And thank you for the awards! What a way to start a Friday!)
Congrats, and thanks for acknowledging my BAMFness. That’s officially a word now.
You are a stick of awesome wrapped in bacon (because bacon makes everything exponentially better). Thanks for sharing your awesome with us.
Some days, it really does help to be reminded that one is a BAMF. Much love! <3
Congratulations! How great that you’re giving away red gowns. I’d LOVE one 🙂
I didn’t even have a speech prepared! I’m proud to be a Badass Motherfucker!
So much badass awesome. Now all I need is a red dress to accept my award in.
YEAH!! BAMF, that’s me! You are amazing Jenny! Love you to bits!!
Your posts always make me smile 🙂 and I would love a red dress!
This is awesome and totally deserved. I know several ladies around here who deserve a red dress moment and I’d love to win a dress from you to give everyone a turn with it before passing it on to other deserving women, or men, whoever needs a red dress moment, really.
Jennifer, you are hilarious! Your red dress giveaway is awesome- keep up the great work!
Here’s to YOU and to all the other BAM’s out there – we all rock and need to shout that from the mountain tops! This is the best blog hands down – for your wonderful honesty, joy and laughter you bring to me…. and for all the honesty and laughter I get from the comments as well. I have sent links to everyone I know to join in this BAMness! Keep it up!!! Congrats too!
I dont care about grammar! Congrats you are awesome!
Wow, this is such an honor! I wasn’t expecting to receive an award when I got out of bed, which is why I’m still in my pajamas, but I promise you this award means the world to me! (Imagine me petting the award that I’m not holding in my hands)
Congrats. Red dresses are awesome.
I needed a BAMF award today. In the process of trying to finish sewing a new costume so that when my walking buddy and I are doing our laps at the gym on Halloween, I will be steampunked out the wazoo! Then will continue in costume to the weekly knit group meeting at the mall.
That is so awesome!! Congratulations!!!
I’ve always known that I’m a BAM–something that those nearest & dearest to me don’t appreciate, and it took someone I’ve never met to give me an award for it. Takes one to know one, eh?
i WOULD LIKE A dRESS WE COULD BE DRESS FRIENDS
Bloggess, your website is getting sassy with me. It told me I was posting too fast. What does it want me to do, type with my toes? I EARNED my 60 wpm.
Congratulations! We’re so fucking badass!
And I know it’s a random pick, but I just wanted to say that I’ve always wanted to be the girl in the red dress, but I was scared to be seen. I’ve been facing down fears right and left recently, finally chasing my hearts desire, and it might just be time for that dress . . .
I am so honored to accept this award, I don’t have a speech prepared, but I know I would like to thank my mother for raising me and my family for supporting me through all the trials I went through to earn this award.
The traveling red dress is my favorite story from your blog, good job Jenny!
Yah! Happy to accept the award 🙂
Sweet!!! Way to go BAMF!
Thanks for the award, first annual or not I still love it….
Love it! I’ve never won an award as cool as this one…so thanks!
Congratulations and thanks for the award. I will add it to my resume.
Wahoo! Congrats, from one BAMF to another. 🙂
Congratulations. You really make my day happier!
See, this proves it AGAIN that you officially rock it! Well done.
This Badass Motherfucker award seems like the perfect time to use my favorite retort…
TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE!
Also, Congrats on the legit, swanky award. You’ve earned it.
That is fantastic – congrats! Without you spearheading these things, they wouldn’t get done. So kudos to you!
Red dress, yes, to redress, please.
I always knew i was a bad ass, but mother fucker too? Awesome!
You’re awesome, Jenny!
That’s awesome! You totally deserve the award.
I want to win one! And I would love to donate my photography skills for a shoot as well.
Congrats!!! So awesome 🙂
So awesome! Congrats to you and Hunter!
Congratulations to be baddest of them all! Keep kicking ass and spreading the red dress love!
Woot! I was reallt cool seeing myself in my red wedding dress in that collage on the katie corig show! Thank you Jenny!
Congratulations! You absolutely deserve it. And I will absolutely use the BAMF Award on all future resumes. Also, the unicorn would totally win. She has speed, agility, and a bad-ass motherfucking horn that can stab the shit out of the zombie.
Oh my, it’s heavier than it looks!
Congrats on the award. You deserve it you bad ass mofo you!
Could totally use a kickass, red evening gown on so many levels right about now…
Congrats! I just love the red dress story. I think a red gown would be just the thing to counteract my seven-year-old’s comment that I look like a boy in my usual uniform of a hoodie and jeans.
Yay, that’s wonderful!
I’ve been wanting to get my friends and myself a red dress to share, but being a college student does not really leave financial wiggle room for such indulgences 🙁
Congratulations! That’s awesome!!!! Thank you for making your blog so entertaining – it puts a smile on my face every time 🙂 I ordered your book too, I just got it in the mail – I can’t wait to read it!!!! Cheers!
You make my day Jenny, in every way. Congrats on the award and the (hopefully) up and coming TV show!! I can only imagine the characters I loved being with in my head while reading your book come to life on a screen….
Then again, that could be a little frightening…..
Oh well, I’d still love it 😉
You rock!
You rock, Jenny, You need to come up with a game like Rock Paper Scissors- But only Pirates, Unicorns, Zombies.
If a person is a pirate they cover their eye, a Unicorn they stick up their middle finger on their forehead, I don’t know what it should be for a Zombie….but then you need to figure out who beats who?
It’s well deserved – I love this project.
I’d also love my very own red dress photo, so I hope I’m one of the randomly chosen.
I’ve always wanted a red dress – I’ve never thought I was pretty enough or had the guts to pull it off, but hey, you gotta be brave sometime, right?!
I could use some red dress love.
Ohh, I definitely want in. 🙂
Congrats!!! And thank you for passing it on to us 🙂
Great Award! Love reading your blog and tweets. Favorite part of my day!
I wish I felt like a BAMF today. Perhaps tomorrow will be better. I am fortunate enough that I can afford my own red dress so you do not have to picke me. This award and your blog are awesome enough. Thanks for being you and sharing your weird, funky, generous self with us. ?
I would like to throw my hat into the hat.
Has no male decided to start a man’s version of the traveling red dress? A snazzy vest, perhaps?
No idea about the ? above. I am blaming the android keyboard gremlins.
Congrats! Well deserved! The Traveling Red Dress is a beautiful thing.
definitely going on my resume.
As a peri-menopausal mother of a 6 year old and a hard working Hubby, I’d love the chance to feel pretty again. Thanks for all that you do for you always bring laughter to my face and a smile to my heart.
If I had one of those red dresses . . . well, first I’d wear it to my husband’s office Christmas party. Last year I was a size 16 and felt awful. I’m really short, so 16 on me is much more round and puffy than on a lot of women. This year, I’m a 6, and might even be a 4 in another month or so. I’m actually not dreading the party this time. But after that, I’d donate it to one of the high school girls in West, Texas, where I live. Several of them lost everything in the explosion. And I’d ask them to make it a tradition, and share it, and make sure all their friends who wanted to be in a photo in a gorgeous red dress did just that. In fact, I think I may just have to find a way to make a “Red Evening Gown” photo event happen for all the girls in town who are interested. Hmm……
I would totally wear a red dress everywhere!
Congratulations! This post brightned my day. I am totally giving myself a Bad Ass Motherfucker award today and puting on my desk 🙂
It’s a great concept and deserves many awards.
I like Heather’s idea (@11:20) of adding it to one’s resume.
You are funny, weird and so inspiring. Your posts have helped me quite a bit. And I love the traveling red dress. Thank you for everything, you are AWESOME!
*waves to the audience that isn’t in front of me* Thank you, thank you. I’d like to thank everyone here for existing. – also that red dress is very pretty but give it to someone else cuz I don’t need one and I”d probably just buy christmas presents for my family instead. Or kitty wine. But I don’t have a cat…. Maybe I’d buy a cat….
I would love to feel pretty <3
Congrats from one BAMF to another. I loved that segment, and you totally deserved to win this award! you are amazing and awesome! And you so help me through my rough days (and weeks and months) when I need it. Who else can combine all of that into one cool and slightly warped package? See, you get me. 🙂
What wonderful news!
I cannot tell you how urgently I long for a proper red dress. I may have to make one. I can’t make dresses, but that wouldn’t stop a true seamstressier.
Just here to say you make me so very happy. I’m so glad you came into my life.
A red dress would be a revolution for me, like an award for my body to be proud of. Way to go, dear Bloggess!
Awesome! The red dress project (and you) deserve the recognition!
I’m Totally going to share awards with people too 🙂 Passing on the badassery 🙂
You’re an inspiration to us all
/hugs
Unicorns. Badass MotherFuckers. Zombies. In that order.
I think what this world needs is more randomly given awards. Gold starts and smiley face stickers for everyone!
I hope you realize how awesome AND entertaining you are! I get soooooo excited to read your blog. Your daughter is so lucky to have a Mom like you! You are doing your best in this crazy world we live in!
Unicorns always win.
I would totally nominate you for an award I’ve never heard of! You rock!!
Thank you for the award! I’m going to take it and show it to my cheating soon-to-be-ex-husband the next time he deems it time to visit the kids. Or maybe I’ll get a copy of it tattooed underneath the one I got two weeks ago that says, “Stronger”. Bad Ass Motherfucker would look brilliant underneath that!
First annual TOTALLY makes sense if you intend to do it again next year. It’s not your fault if cat costumes or Doctor Who or something else equally valid gets in the way. Love the BAMF award 🙂
I would like to thank the other badass motherfucjers out there for making this award totally AWESOME. Congrats on your award and thanks for thinking of all us other kick ass people out here because damn we deserve awards! P.S. I don’t wear red because it’s against my religion (AKA it makes my naturally auburn hair turn Ronald McDonald red), but I would so rock a “red” dress (aka black cause it’s slimming)
Congrats Jenny! You deserve it. You keep me going some days.
I think I need to be wearing a red dress.
Congrats!!! Thank you for being hilarious and inspiring.
I love the whole idea of the red dress project. I have a very dear friend, who, as I write this is struggling with depression. Her entire world has been thrown upside down and she constantly fights feelings of worthlessness and ugliness and she is far from either of those. She is a devoted mom and grandmother and the first of my friends to come running when help is called for. And I want to help her. To be able to put her in a red dress, and have someone take her picture would not only make me feel good but her as well. She needs a red dress. She needs to show depression that it does not get to wear a red dress, that it does not get to win, that she wins. I love your blog btw!
first annual!! WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO It’s like an anticipated promise of more anticipation for the future! thanks Bloggess, and backatcha!
thanks for sharing!!!
I dont think there is anyone on the internet that I relate to better than you… thank you !!! You are always a breath of fresh air !!!
You totally rock! I remember watching that segment and was so moved by it. That segment is what brought me to buy your book and find your blog. That you are giving away red dresses? Paying it forward?? Wow! That is awesome.
I’d like to thank all the little people, including myself! Thanks as always for your wonderful personality, Jenny. I’d love to wear a red dress if you choose me. 🙂
This would be totally awesome. Thanks!
Congratulations! And as a trans woman who has only *just* started feeling like I can own wearing a dress (black, subdued, wall-flowering), I’d love to win a red dress to add some colour to my wardrobe attempts. Thank you!
Bad asses should be a support group and have monthly awards, only that is too organized and takes away time away for being a bad ass… 🙂
Hey, you could make a new Christmas ornament out of that! I love my Beyonce, although my husband makes me hide it out of sight of small visitors. Or any visitors.
I would adore a red dress to rock out in!
Congrats! I love this project. I share it often with friends!
I’m the mother of a son with severe GAD and depression, and I would be honored to be considered for the red dress giveaway 🙂
That’s incredible! Bravo Hunter, and you, and us!
WOOOO!!! To THE RED DRESS BRIGADE!
Yay! Unicorn! Love you!
Awesome! Congrats!
I want my own red dress…
Congratulations!
I just found out that my great great grandfather was a taxidermist. I thought it was cool because it reminded me of you.
I won! I won! Can I make this award my Facebook photo?
I never win anything! That’s so exciting!
Here’s an award for you too. It’s the thing you can’t feel also. I want a red dress mostly because I never thought I’d ever wear one. I hope the universe agrees.
Go us! and you 🙂
God, I look so horrible in red. It just makes my almost-rosacea look even redder. Can I have a purple dress? Purple is so my color.
Your blog has been helping me get in touch with my inner bad-ass motherfucker for quite awhile now, even when I feel like an outer trainwreck. Thanks for all you do, and thanks for the award! I feel it. I do!
Awesome! I’d love a chance to win a red dress!
Congratulations on the prestigious sounding award. Did it come with cake? Oh I hope there was cake
I have always wanted to be a Bad Ass Motherfucker. I never thought it would REALLY be possible though. Thank you, Jenny, for making my dreams come true! ::throws fist in the air::
Red dress, red dress! LOVE this project, congratulations!!
Congrats!! You deserve it, you never fail to amuse and help and sometimes confuse the hell out of me and practically everyone I know (and we wouldn’t have it any other way!)
Thank you for the award!! I am now changing my email signature to read “Award-Winning Badass Motherfucker”.
I knew I felt like a winner today. I thought it was more of a “oh-thank-god-it’s-finally-friday” thing, but I’ll gladly take a non-tangible award. In fact, they’re my very favorite.
I mean, maybe not as much as I like free amazing red dresses… cough cough.
Congratulations! 😀
Congratulations to all the bad-ass motherfuckers everywhere! Well done, Jenny. You are amazing.
Ha! awesome!! Congratulations, Jenny! 🙂
Congrats! You should take a picture of Hunter S. Tomcat in a red evening gown (and post it of course.) That would make an even better reward. 😛
Who WOULDN’T want a red dress from you?
I remember watching that clip the first time – still pretty amazing the second time around. Congrats.
I try to be a BAMF any chance I get so thanks for the award! and Congrats on getting the award the red dress project is amazing. You are my hero 🙂
Just don’t forget to scratch the kitty on the ears for his part!
Congratulation! Now, as a redhead, I have been told not to wear red. Screw that! Sign me up for a red dress!
I just want to thank everyone for this award that I obviously deserve so much.
Congratulations! I was going to insert something intelligent and meaningful here, but then my kid walked over to me and put his hands on my head and screamed “frigid” and his hand were like giant popsicle squids of cold that just sucked everything right out of my head or froze it or something soo…well congratulations!
I found your blog about a month ago when a friend linked to it. I’ve found it to be such a help in keeping perspective and a source of a lot of laughter. As in, husband says, “Why are you laughing? oh, that blog again.” You’re one of my favorite Jennifers.
I just want to thank everyone for this award that I definitely deserve.
Congrats.
“Free stuff” does a number on the comment count…. 🙂
Nothing like a beautiful dress to feel like a badass!
Awesomest award ever. Red dress, awesomest concept ever. The world is full of awesome. 🙂
Woo Hoo! Congratulations! The Photoshoot I did for the traveling red dress is one of my favorite ever.
I am so happy to have won this award that I obviously deserve.
Wow… I’ve never won anything before!
You like me! Right now you like me!
Thank you for the award!!!!!
Unicorns would totally win because a) they’re faster and b) they can stab the zombies in the brain. I should think that this outcome is so obvious that it makes the idea of a debate completely ludicrous.
Kraken versus Nessie, however, is another story.
Maybe I’ll come out from under the covers today.
I’m leaving a comment to get in on the contest, but I’m not funny
Congrats and well deserved to my favorite badass motherfucker!!
Congratulations on your award! Your reception of it goes to show how amazing you truly are. Don’t forget to give yourself a Bad Ass Motherfucker Award as well! You deserve it!
Congratulations from Florida to you AND Hunter S. Tomcat, of course. 🙂
I adore the red dress project. I’ve been planning to get a red dress for my 9-month-old daughter, because taking the leap into pregnancy was extremely difficult for me. For someone with an anxiety disorder that frequently manifests in a fear of doctors and insane hypochondria, being pregnant was an utterly terrifying thought, regardless of how badly I wanted a child. But I did it, and my beautiful, charming daughter is my red dress.
However, if I had one of those awesome red gowns, she and I could wear red gowns together, and that would be a blast. 🙂 Thank you for being you!
Super-congrats!
You help people through stuff, be proud of that.
thank you for finally giving me validation at being a bad-ass motherfucker. who doesn’t care about grammar or logic….. mostly.
A well deserved award. An even better cause.
I could use a red dress. One week ago today my four year old little girl died unexpectedly. She would have turned five November 21st. The aftermath has been obviously painful. I could use some lifting and loving right now.
I won! I won! I’d like to thank my parents, my orthodontist…
A) This is awesome
B) I would sell at least two of my cats for a red gown. I work in academia and I would wear it on a Tuesday all, “Oh, this old thing?”
Awesome & congratulations to us all!
Congrats!
Yay! I never win anything so thank you. Thank you for brightening my life!
I AM a badass motherf*cker, even if I can’t bring myself to type it. That’s part of my awesome, keeping everyone guessing…will she or won’t she? Even my kids never know what to expect! And from one who is awesone to another: Jenny, you keep my heart light. Whenever I need a dose of the crazy and a reminder of the stuff that actually matters, you’re there for me. Keep it up, you beautiful hilarious soul!
Congrats!
That’s so exciting for you and Hunter S. Thomcat! And thanks for the BAM award!
Such a fantastic project!
Awesome!
I’d like to say, if you somehow randomly pick me to win a red dress, I’d like to give it to Lynn (the poster approximately 4 comments above mine)
Lynn, /major big hug/ I can’t imagine what you’re going through but I’ll be sending warm loving thoughts your way …and prayers.
Yeah, that award’s totally going on my resume, right after “goatherder” (that’s how I know that someone actually read it, because they will always ask if I actually had a job herding goats). Glad to see the red dress project has really taken off, it’s such a wonderful idea!
Hopping on the red-dress train! 😀
Congrats! I love awards!
that is fantastic! you and Hunter S Thomcat are ridiculously deserving of awesomeness. your readers are some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of encountering on the internets. All deserving of the exceptional title of bad ass motherfucker except those who squeal “first!!!” when they think they’ve commented first. they annoy me and are clearly not badass.
cheers!
Yay! That’s awesome!!
Yes! Congratulations to everyone!
Jenny – Your posts always make me think. Right now, it’s a zombie/unicorn battle (of course unicorns will win).
thanks for being you!
Danielle
I’m totally gonna frame it, even though I’m going out of business. Well, actually BECAUSE I’m going out of business! In fact, it’ll be like my first dollar, which was the first thing I framed as a biz owner, now this BADASS MOTHERFUCKER award will be the last thing!
suhweeet!
Congratulations! I’ve loved the idea of the red dress from the moment I heard of it!
Totally awesome!
Yeah for you! Would love a red dress 🙂
So thrilled for you! I actually recorded the segment on our dvr, because I just couldn’t miss seeing it with you on there, and I would have been either at work, or on the long commute home, when it was on. The traveling red dress is just amazing, and so are you!
Even on my worst most zanax days you make me smile! Live and gratefulness to you!!!!
Awesome!
If I win, I’m donating my red dress to those who need a little more red in their life!
I would love to win. I really need a red dress! Times aren’t easy.
Love it! And I’d love to wear a red dress at the next Annual Police Ball, so I hope I get picked. 🙂 (This is actually annual – they do it every year. Ha!)
This is fabulous! I really love the idea of the red dress and am glad it is contining to inspire people to feel valued and beautiful. Keep up the good work!
Bad ass!
You make me smile! I love your blog, your book made me laugh hysterically and I can so relate to you!
Sarah
Fantastic! Clearly, Hunter S. Thomcat is destined to be your marketing manager.
Well, of course you deserve the award! You’re something of an inspiration to so many!
*That’s a shameless compliment to get a red dress heeheehee* even if it is true.
How does one keep their boobs up in that dress?
Plus: Congratulations! Heartfelt ones!
dammit Jenny, you rock!
that is fantastic! you and Hunter S Thomcat are ridiculously deserving of awesomeness. your readers are some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of encountering on the internets. All deserving of the exceptional title of bad ass motherfucker except those who squeal “first!!!” when they think they’ve commented first. they annoy me and are clearly not badass.
cheers!
Hot damn!! It’s about time someone recognized me for the badass mofo that I am!!! But right now I’m a little worried about the zombie unicorns-WON’T ANYONE THINK OF THE ZOMBIE UNICORNS????
You know, I’ve never actually worn a red evening gown. Finding one in my size is next to impossible. Part of me also believes that I’ll never be worthy of a red dress anyway.
if I won one, I’d wear it to work though, because I deserve to act silly and be furiously happy too.
They are so pretty! I’d make up an event just so I could wear it.
Depression lies has become my mantra. Thank you for that and so much more.
You deserve that award and a million more…and as far as the dresses go, I would love one, but I really think we should coordinate the day we wear them and all of us could just randomly show up in public places across the country in matching red gowns and then everyone else would be like…wait?…did I miss the memo?…I feel so totally lame without a red dress!…I will never be cool!!! I’m thinking January 28th…January is really bland without any major wowsa holidays and we could totally change all of that. We are true revolutionaries. 🙂
Congratulations! And I am definitely adding badass motherfucker to my resume.
I had never heard of the red dress project… Which is sad, cause I read your blog all the time. I might have found you after this happened. But, I watched the segment, and I cried. It’s freaking horrible dealing with mental illness, and the past few weeks I have been struggling myself with staying in school to get my degree, dealing with fibromyalsia, depression and being bipolar. I LOVE this idea of the red dress. Now, I just have to try and feel the idea inside. If i had the cash, I would be buying a red dress for my little brother’s wedding in CA, who has red and black as their color scheme.
All I can say is thank you for being you, with all the plus and minuses you have. You’re real, and you are doing things I could never dream of doing myself.
They are so pretty! I’d make up an event just so I could wear it out!
Impossible girl…..Congrats. 🙂
I would love to donate photography services. How do I sign up?
congrats on the award! thanks for being such an inspiration to others 🙂
The award I don’t feel goes wonderfully with the speech I didn’t give. Thank you!
The dress is beautiful, but this review of it cinch eats it for me:
“The dress was okay, but too short for my daughter and the chests churn hong seemed off center and did not flatter her bustling at all.”
If I win I hope it flatters my bustling,
Oh, Jenny! You do so much good! I know it’s hard for you to believe it sometimes because depression is a lying bastard and whispers so loudly in our ears, but you’re fucking amazing!
Jenny,
That episode introduced me to the Traveling Dress, your blog, and Let’s Pretend. I am so happy you won….Oh, wait, I won? I WON!!!! I’m not sure what you are talking about – this prize is totally cool – I’ve always wanted a tiara…..I can’t believe you are giving it away….now all I need is a kick ass dress….
Congrats–nobody does it better!
I am a bad ass motherfucker!!
Thank you for making those of us on the margins of societal acceptance feel beautiful, even if only for a moment in dressed in daring red. XOXOXO
I would lurv to have a red dress! I’ve been suffering from a lot of anxiety lately coupled with hormone spikes from an unrelated issue. The result is that I feel like aliens have taken over my body and brain, and I am not the one in control of my emotions anymore. I have a wonderful and supportive husband and family, but sometimes I just feel like such a burden, even through I know they would tell you otherwise. Whenever I’m feeling particularly ridiculous, I come read your blog and know that there are so many more people out there who like me, are just trying to get through the day using honesty, goofy laughter, and togetherness.
Congratulations, Jenny! I love this project. And Hunter S. Thomcat.
Go you! Yay for red dresses!
Congrats on being recognized for your wit and humor, a well deserved honor. Cheers to free dresses…and to styles that will look good on everyone! After having 3 daughters, and surviving their high school years, I value both free and function.
It’s totally the first annual, and next year will be the prequel.
Trying to figure out how to get the rest of my resume to not look so boring, and then suddenly there’s this awesome award… someone might think I faked it.
Congratulations! Rock on, sister friend
No, you are The Bad Ass Mother Fucker! Well, you, and your cat… and Katie Couric… 😉 Anyhoo… Congrats on the the award, I would take it and run. Love your blog and your sense of humor. You writing can make me laugh like no other. Oh, and “1st Annual” is totally a thing. I read about it on Facebook.
Woo hoo! Thanks for inspiring us every day Jenny!
Thanks for the BAMF award. I really needed to hear that I’d finally earned some sort of award as my Friday afternoon drags on endlessly. This honour might just be the element that finally tips my resume to the top of the heap. Keep on typing and making us laugh.
I love the Traveling Red Dress and all it symbolizes. I love the idea of celebrating beauty in all it’s forms. I would love to win a red dress of my own!
I love the whole idea of the red dress. EVERYONE deserves to feel pretty.
Congrats to you and Sir Hunter! We salute you!
YAY! Congrats Jenny 🙂
Thank you for the Badass Award by the way. It’s what I’ve always wanted.
That’s so awesome! Congratulations!
Please include me in on the dress giveaway…. I would love to win something for a change 😛
This makes me as happy as Juanita with a perfect souffle!
Lovely dresses, but the ones you linked to don’t have anything for the larger sized woman.
(That’s why I’m just sending a gift card to those who win. They can pick out whatever they like. ~ Jenny)
Hmm, in a fight between unicorns and zombies, I am going to have to go with unicorns because – HELLO, HORNS. But, now I am thinking that even after the zombie had been impaled by the horn, it could slide down and bite the unicorn and then we would have ZOMBIE UNICORNS! That is both terrifying and awesome all at the same time.
Congrats-love it.
I love this project and I love that dress. You are awesome!
How wonderful, congrats! You deserve it!
Huzzah! I’ve never won anything, this means a lot.
I seriously thought the bad ass award would be red…. 😉
Congrats!
And after the few years I’ve had I could really, really use a red dress. Thanks for doing this!
Congrats on the win! And I’m thrilled that my Badass status has been validated. I’m hanging my award on my office wall.
Oh man, I’d love a red dress! I’d wear it to work the day I finally quit because they are just so damn square at my office!
Woohoo! Congratulations! I’m wearing a red dress right now. I must be psychic.
Unicorns would totally win.
Congrats on your award.
BAMF award!
I always knew I was a winner! And red is definitely my color.
Hurray for us badasses!!
Why thank you, and congratulations!! I’d love a red dress!
Adding my name to the red dress lottery! Even though its random selection, I’m sure hoping! It’s been a rough few months for my relationship with my body. Womp womp wooooompppp.
As a ginger I was never “allowed” to wear the colour red growing up. As an “adult” I say bring on the red dress!!!
I NEVER WIN ANYTHING ON THIS BLOG, BUT I LOVE THE BLOGGESS ANYWAY, SO THIS IS JUST A RANDOM COMMENT.
BE WELL, MY FRIENDS.
You ROCK Jenny!!!
Woo hoo! A legit award, congrats J.
Very pretty! Want!
Okay, even if I don’t get one, CONGRATULATIONS! TO YOU AND TO US!
(red dress girl from Chicago 🙂
I really needed to feel like a badass motherfucker today, so thanks for the reminder that I’m always a badass motherfucker. Day significantly improved.
Congrats on the win! LOVE the story of the Travelling Red Dress. And Hunter S. Thomcat.
Plus, something can totally be the 1st Annual. It’s called AMBITION. I believe in you. And I’m sure Hunter does too.
I’m still jealous of the dress you wore on that show. Super lovely!
Congrats Jenny! Love the bad ass award!!
My hubby tweets out achievement icons to folks on twitter (one person who came out on national coming out day was awarded what we call GayPride T-Rex- it’s a thing at our house) but i love that I can claim the badass motherfucker award as given by The Bloggess. Totally kicks gay pride t-Rex ass!
In all seriousness, the travelling red dress means a lot to so many. It inspires me too. Let’s get some red dresses out there!
I’m printing this card for my wallet!
Commenting. Mostly because I never win anything and I feel like continuing my streak.
By the way, congratufuckinglations, you badass unicorn, you! You are a goddess.
Unicorns. Always unicorns.
Omg I think this red dress would be awesome and I would totally wear it to my next set of dr’s appts. In honor of you and all the folks fighting with so many issues! Plus the would be all why the red dress, and I’d be all why NOT the red dress, then I would go to Del Taco with the dress and a tiara and get lunch
Wow! That’s fantastic!
You deserve more made up awards! In fact, here’s one now – The Totally Rad Once in a Lifetime Epic Blog Acheive-o Award, Double gold Dragon Deluxe Edition with Sprinkles on top!
I’m printing that award out and FRAMING IT!! Maybe make little BAMF badges out of it. Thank you for being so awesome!
FYI: I’ve included my Badass Motherfucker award in my list of other awards including The Regional, She Who Has Fucks To Give But Keeps Them To Herself Award and the Globally recognized, What Time Is It Award, given to those who always seem to know what time it is.
Next the Nobel or McArthur Genius or maybe just getting verified on Twitter, whatever.
Thanks for being awesome!
Wow. Congratulations to you, Katie, and Hunter. You must all be thrilled!
I wouldn’t know what to do if I had a red dress (maybe that’s why I need one?), but I would be totally happy to put it into the Traveling Red Dress pool for women who really just need a red dress.
And thanks for the BAM award: I really need that one!
Congratulations! And I would love a chance at a red dress. Even if I don’t win, how can I become involved? I remember reading about it and thought “hey, I should do that!” But then I lost my son and didn’t go through with it.
Congrats!
I first heard of you through the red dress project, and stayed for the laughs. You’re awesome.
OBVIOUSLY unicorns would win. If I were to win a dress, please give it to Lynn whose little girl died. Thanks.
I could really use a red dress. This year has sucked. I spent two months bedridden because of the pain from a herniated disc, then spinal surgery. Then two months ago I got diagnosed with uterine and ovarian cancer and had a full hysteromicty. And I’m 31. So, yeah a fuck all of this red dress would rock.
Jenny, you deserve all the awards –really and imaginary– the world has to offer! Thank you for writing and sharing and challenging and comforting and awarding all us bad-ass motherfuckers with your presence. Love you!
Hooray for winning swanky sounding awards!
Congratulations! You deserve it. You help a lot of people with your writing.
Congratulations that you can’t hear me say about the award that you can’t actually feel in your hands. 🙂
That is great news, and well deserved, despite your modesty.
Congrads!!! I think I will put that award on my resume…nothing says Corporate Professionalism than having swear words on your resume.
Between the Unicorn Success Club and the Bad Ass Motherfucker award on my resume- who wouldn’t fucking hire me? They dont DARE turn me down or make me come in for a second interview.
I plan to let the hubs know about my big new award and cite it as the reason that I should be excused from dishwashing duty for at least a week.
The Tribe ROCKS…Yay!!! And HST is always a show stopper…thanks for all you do!!!
You are my HERO. You have taken every quirky thing about yourself and you have owned it! Your book was the highlight of my summer (I know, I was slow getting on the bandwagon) and your blog is the highlight of my day.
Plus, you love Dr. Who and anyone who loves Dr. Who is pretty badass in my book.
Awesome!
Your blog brings me great joy 🙂
you got skillllz gurl (as my daughter would say). Congrats! And I would totally love to rock a new red dress.
I would love a red dress! But don’t choose me, I can get my own red dress. Choose someone who, for whatever reason, can’t get a red dress for themselves right now This is the first I have heard of The Traveling Red Dress (I haven’t been around that long, at least not in the “aware of what’s out there on the internet at the moment” kind of way). I love the idea behind the Red Dress, and have been inspired to have my own photoshoot with my 7 year old daughter and 11 year old niece, because even little girls need to feel like princesses sometimes. It will take some planning, and may not happen for a while, but it will happen. I just turned 30 (two days ago), I’ve gained about 30 pounds this past year and I am experiencing a huge disconnect between my mind and my physical self at the moment. I think this is just what I need. I would love to see this project gain momentum again, as I can think of a few people I know personally who could really use a Red Dress moment.
yay congratulations Jenny!!!
Congrats! And I will definitely put that award on my resume … it rocks!
Congrats on the award! I saw a beautiful red dress in a window once but thought I couldn’t afford it/didn’t deserve it/had nowhere to wear it. I think I’m ready for that dress now.
Excellent. We’re on our 2nd set of costumes today, both ballgowns for my daughter. Go big and go glittery. Even if you’re just at home.
Congrats!
That’s simply awesome! Or maybe it’s complicatedly-awesome? Either way, awesome is what it is. Congrats to you (and you know, to congrats also Katie and Hunter S Thomcat).
i would love a red dress. it has been a very grey dress (and by dress I mean sweat pants) kind of six months for me.
Congrats! The BAMFA’s should totally be a thing every year!
Congrats!!!! I’d love a red dress and I’d rock that dress even though the thought of rocking a red dress where people could see me terrifies me!
If this posts twice I’m sorry. My iPhone is fucking possessed. Anyway. YAY!!! Congratulations! And put me in for a red dress. Please? Also you and your book helped me through the of hell that was my sister dying and her funeral. I thank you for existing. <3
Hey, congratulations! I think you should combine the awards, though – to the first annual exceptional motherfucker in media award. That would be so awesome.
Knock knock… Motherfucker award!!!!!! Here to collect your awesomeness….. Thanks for all you do for is Jenny!!!!!
I did a red dress session in April and it was amazing. I should post somewhere about it and link it to you. I was fabulous!
Thank you! I’ve always hoped that someday, someone somewhere would recognize my badass motherfuckery and give me an award! (Even if that was a run on sentence that may or may not be missing a comma!) It’s just nice to be appreciated!!
Nice! “It’s a major award!” Instead of a leg lamp we get the chance for a red dress. Excellent.
I was going to bake and do some writing but apparently I won an award, so I’m going to bed. I think I’ve accomplished enough.
Congrats Jenny!
I found a link to your blog while I was doing research for a paper I had to write and somehow stumbled upon Beyonce, which I read and laughed until I almost peed my pants. Then I started to read everything else you’ve ever posted (I’m still working my way through getting all of it, I am in 2009 though!) I love to hopping on here and reading just a few everyday, it brightens my day and let’s me know that I’m not the only one going through issues. Your blog has been a total inspiration to me, and helps me get through other days. It also helps me to procrastinate writing those damn papers, but *shhh* don’t tell my husband I said that! Congrats on your award, and thank you for passing it on, I always thought I was a badass motherfucker, and now I have an award to prove it! *Day Complete*
I’d love to win a dress! I’d also love to win Powerfully, but a red dress will do.
I’d love to win! Thanks for the giveaway. You are one bad a mofo yourself 🙂
Your blog has helped me get through this week. It has been one thing after another and the awesomeness of your blog has made it so I can go home after work and be taken over by the minions there….and then get up the next day and start it all over.
Congratulations! That’s good news. Sometimes cats can really help make things happen. Or not. Sometimes cats just sit there and stare at you.
YAY! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! See Hunter S. Thomcat totally knew what he was doing!
Congrats! And thanks for the award(s)!
I want my own red dress, but also to share it with my 8th grade girls. So many of them already need it that it breaks my heart.
I have never received an award before. If there ever were one to receive, being a bad ass is definitely the one to strive for.
Thank you for all you post. It always brightens my day, giving me something to look forward to whenever I check your site. …. Sincere gratitude!
Congratulations! That’s awesome! Thanks for the award as well. I’ll proudly display it 🙂
Congratulations!!!!
OK I wanna win just so I can say “Oh this dress, I won this for being one bad ass mother fucker!”
Bad ass Motherfucker…. what a great award!
Badass! Congrats. 🙂
I want a dress, just so I can tell everyone it’s from my hero, the badass Bloggess!
Congrats Jenny! That’s so cool!
Thanks for the award.. I mean I knew I was awesome, but didn’t realize I was a bad ass too 🙂
Congrats on such a prestegious award. Like all of my awards, of course I will add this to the resume.
You’re obviously made of awesomeness and unicorn boogers or something. Red dresses all around! I’d love one.
Congrats, your blog, and your book really help when the stress gets me down!
Congratulations and thank you for all you do! I’d love a red dress–really need to feel beautiful for a day!
Hmmm I’d love a red evening gown. =) Love you and your blog, ya wierdo. <3
That’s fantastic! You are most certainly not forgetting to be awesome with this award! I love the red dress project, it’s a wonderful idea.
I’ll print that off and put it on my fridge, right next to my daughter’s Sunday School memory verse. I’d better not get those mixed up.
I recently attended the 23rd First Annual Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony, so it IS really a thing 🙂
I want to win the Bad Ass Motherfucker Award!!! I often think I have to be badass to do all the things I do while fighting severe depression…….
Congratulations on being one Badass Motherfucker!
Wow, very cool!
The red dress is AWESOME! The award…is just as good!!! HUZZAH!
I’m glad that you got some good news in the midst of all of your health news. At least you don’t have anything pernicious! ;D
Congratulations! That really was a good segment, and Hunter S. Thomcat is built out of pure adorable in different conformations to make up fur and organs and stuff. Uh. That went weird.
I’ll throw my hat in for a red dress, though. That would be lovely and awesome. 🙂
I love that you share with us. I feel like I have found a family here that understands me. Many days you give me hope that I can get past the hell I am living in. This award makes me feel Badass for the first time in my life, thank you!
I definitely want a dress. I will wear it to the 1st Annual Badass Motherfucker Awards!
Of course you won it, because you are totally Amaze-balls. Congratulations. 🙂
I’m a teacher and I will wear the hell out of that red dress to give my finals! muhahahaha
Congrats to you!
Congrats!!
Congratulations! I love reading your work!
If I should win must I get it in my actual size or the size I’d like to be?
Congrats!! That’s much better than the “award” my som just smeared around from his diaper.
Congrats on the award! I’d love a new red dress.
Love my new award! And heck I’d love a red dress too!
Thank you for writing this post. Congratulations on your award, but it was the perfect timing for me to be reminded about the Traveling Red Dress and the overwhelming kindness and support of so many good people. I have been through some hellacious OBGYN, urologist and other whackjob specialist’s tests the past 2 weeks. Something’s wrong and no one knows what it is blah blah blah, basically I’ve convinced myself I’m dying tomorrow and even if I don’t I will never be able to have any babies. High anxiety is a large understatement for my usual condition and everyday life, right now it’s skyrocketed to psycho babble-WebMD crazed-vagina problem fearing-big ball of tears in my closet-hot mess. I’m in my early 20’s, SUPER single, and I want like 8 kids (eventually and not solo) so all these big scary words have been literally the only thing on my mind. I read your blog almost every single day and opened it yesterday but got too distracted by my hypochondriac thoughts that I never even looked at it. So when I got to the office today it was already in my browser and I just refreshed it and read it, then re-read the story that you got the award for. Plus a lot of comments by some really fucking cool people & it made me feel so much better instantly. So thank you, and thank you to everyone whose comments make me feel normal too.
Congrats.
We are a big old bunch of awesome around here aye.. lol
Rock on the travelling red dresses.
Thank you so much for making my day brighter, i love to come to your blog and just enjoy your posts, they are the bomb.
Do we congratulate you or Hunter S. Thomcat? Either way, way to go!
Congrats!!! This is awesome! 🙂
Congratulations! A friend of mine had red dress photos taken recently. They rock. As do you. That is all.
Congrats. That is awesome news. I would love to be entered to win a red dress. It would be worn with pride to union dinners and maybe occasionally to my kids sporting events, since the other moms like to gossip about me this might give them something interesting and factual to discuss.
Ah, red. You know, I used to be a natural redhead but now the drapes don’t match the carpet anymore, if you get my drift.
Congrats! You deserve several more never-before-heard-of or even made-up-awards-of-awesomeness. I think each week you should just choose a new award. Choose one that YOU would want and that would make your day brighter, and then award it to yourself as well as to one other deserving kick-ass soul…or everyone reading your blog, depending on the week you’ve had….could make for an easy short blog segment when you’ve been swamped or haven’t felt up to doing more. Create a cop-out collection and run with it! You know…or huddle with it in the corner since running is ridiculous. Backup options galore. They’d make for great buttons on your retail page too.
Enjoy the true award though! You deserve it!
Hell yeah, that’s going in my resume. Maybe printed out and hanging on my wall, while I’m at it.
Holla! Congrats.
I AM a badass motherfucker!! Woohoo! COntragts to you!
ummm congrats! 🙂
You’re the best, congrats!
this is amazing! Congrats!!!
Yay for awards!
So, I’d like to join in the red dress adventure, but I’m still a little lost on the origins of the dresses… Is there some place where it’s all laid out for me to read about?
Unicorns. Unicorns would win.
I wish to join the elite table of these Motherfuckers who are Badass and I humbly request mine own place amongst these Goddesses!
Yay! You/we deserve it. 🙂
Also, I would like to participate in the Red Dress thing please!
I am
too old and too fat – couldn’t wear a red dress without being arrested for looking insane, but I would accept a badassed mother fucker award, thanks !Loved the segment on Katie’s spot! Love you, my pretty little Bag O’ Bacon ( highest compliment!) xxxooo and congrats to you, you are the shit!!!
Fantastic Jenny! I’m happy for you, and for the Traveling Red Dress Program! Congratulations!
Congrats, Jenny! Thanks for keeping it real and helping the rest of us who struggle to know we are not alone. That dress is fabulous!
The Badass Motherfucker Award is the best award I’ve won all week, or possibly ever. Congrats on your award!
Your blog keeps me sane in that it makes me realize we are all a little fucked up. Your travelling red dress movement is fabulous and inspiring. Thank you.
Congratulations on the award! 🙂
I just finished your book today and I am so sad that there is no part 2 yet…
Congratulations!
You are totally awesome. Congratulations.
Congratulations!
And I want to thank you for the Bad Ass MoFo award. I can so use it right now. I have had the month from hell, that has culminated in profuse blood loss (my bathroom could have been a set for CSI), a trip to the ER, surgery, and my very first overnight hospital stay. I just got home… and it’s nice to see that I can win something within 24 hours of almost dying!
Thankfully I have humor (and my bad ass new award) to help keep me sane! Thank you for helping me stay sane!
lol – who am I kidding on the website portion / I don’t have a flippin’ site!
Anyways – I love your book / I read it out loud to my family because they couldn’t figure out why I was cracking up in the corner by myself.
Congrats on your award!
Congrats! You are always such an inspiration. <3 As is every member of this crazy weird community.
I remember my first and last red dress, I was 7! I’m 40 now. Might be time to do that again! 🙂
wow! this really is exciting, i never win anything. if i am fortunate enough to also win a red dress i will wear it to my job at the library.
I love the comments so muchly. Congrats!
Your blog is awesome, I always get a kick out of it!
Yay! You deserve the award, you are awesome!
Congratulations on your award! You deserve it!
I want to also thank you. Reading your blog has taught me that I am different than the mainstream and that’s okay. I feel like I have found a community where I fit in and I can be my true self. Thank you for that. From all of us 🙂
Hugs!
Eating pumpkin bread and virtually high-fiving you all. My hand hurts.
Thank you for being you. I love the idea behind the red dress, makes my day/week better!
I always knew I’d win and, yet, now that it’s happened I feel so humbled.
Congratulations! And red dresses are amazing 😀
Basically I’ve been wanting a red dress since I first heard about this. I’m lucky enough to be doing some pretty amazing things with my life right now (although I’ll be paying for them later, like woah), but I still need a red dress in my life. I know there’s a 1/1200+ chance I’ll be granted this honor, but I’m going for it anyway like I never usually do. So, you know. Gimme.
I’d love to donate a red dress to someone. I’ve been lucky to be able to have occasions to wear some pretty awesome dresses in my life and it changes you. At least for a little bit. Let me know how I can help.
Wendy
I would love a red dress and I will accept the Bad Ass Motherfucker award too. My husband walked out last year while I was pregnant with our 3rd daughter after 18 years together. I suffer from Angoraphobia, depression, panic attacks, and OCD. I have held my head high over the past 18 months and pushed thru and came out the other side stronger.
Congrats and love the blog!
Congrats!! You are totally awesome.
Do the red dresses come in my size? I would love to wear a red dress to support the cause… I hope my beard will not clash….
Congratulations! And let’s be real. I really hope you randomly pick me.
You are so inspiring. I’d love a red dress. I’d totally pass it along too.
I love your blog and I have used it with my patients (I’m a psychiatrist) to show them that they aren’t alone. I also pass around your book to friends and colleagues! Sadly, my fiancé has not yet let me purchase the musk ox we found in a thrift shop, but he will come around. Could I please be considered for a red dress?
booyah. you’re pretty bad ass, yo. you deserve everything positive that you get.
I been sitting here all day, fitting back the waves of depression and decided to check in on you for some words of inspiration and a reason to smile. Congratulations! It’s good when something really good actually wins an award, even if it doesn’t physically exist.
If zombies and unicorns had a battle, at least a few unicorns would end up as zombies, and then you’d have zombie unicorns, who would pretty much kick everyone’s ass. Would they be called zomb-icorns or uni-mbies?
Congrats! Your blog is amazing and you do amazing work!
That red dress will make anyone a badass motherfucker.
Congratulations! And that’s very awesome of you.
Congrats on your award and please count me in!! 🙂
I totally bet you could be responsible for a Second Annual anything. It may not exactly the same day, but it would be close enough.
Winning a red dress would be amazing! I could chaperone 2nd Grade fields in one. Wouldn’t that be just awesome?! It would not be at great as wearing a giant bear head in the yard when the school bus pulled up, but it would be pretty close!
Congratulations, Jenny!
Congrats on the award! I haven’t worn a dress since I was married. And that might be a good thing. But I would totally rock one on a date night with my husband!
Yay for the award, and please can I win a dress?
Congratulations! What a sweet way to thank your fans also. I’d love a chance at a red dress right now. Being pregnant with baby number three, which has been a blessing, has also really put me in a funk. I never felt pretty to begin with, but this time around is really making me feel not so fabulous.
I could really, really use a red dress.
Congrats on the awesome award! I think I like yours better!
Not sure red is my color (being a pale redhead), but I would definitely try (& pass along) the dress if I should happen to win it! <3
Dear Jenny,
I often feel like you’re a close friend of mine and I get SO DAMN EXCITED when good things happen for you! Thank you for being our leader. Thank you for the Unicorn Success club. Thank you for making crazy ok. Thank you for being you. YOU ROCK!
-Ashleigh
I *will* put this on my resume, with full credit given to you (I’m an academic. It would be plagiarism not to). 🙂 But seriously, I hope you allow yourself a minute to really breathe this in — your work is excellent, and loved, and followed by many, many people whose days would be so much less bearable without your humor and wit!
P.S. If I were to be lucky enough to win your red dress, I would totally wear it to teach in front of my college students, to faculty meetings, and at every major event in my life thereafter…
Unicorns. Unless there were zombie unicorns, because then they’d win.
So happy for you! Congrats!
I thought about putting that award up at the office, but reconsidered as I’d then have to edit it to “unemployed badass motherfucker”.
Congratulations! More proof you’re amazing!
I am totally using that award the next time I go for a raise.
I love your red dress project. It’s great. and I love you. and your damn cat.
You SO rock!
Comment!
I have nothing witty, productive or clever to say. But 1/1000 chance to win a dress? I’ll take those odds
I needed a badass motherfucker award to put on the old resume. THANKS!!
I want a red dress! Actually, I’d just love to be able to fit into any of my pre-pregnancy dresses. But I’m 6 weeks from my due date, so I will….eventually! Yay positive thinking!
Congrats on your award!
PS. I can’t wait to see how excited my hubs will be when he sees I won the 1st Annual Badass Motherfucker Award!! I wasn’t even trying!!
Congratulations on your much deserved award! And thank you as well for mine. I have never won an award for anything and winning one for being a ‘bad-ass motherfucker’ is freaking fantastic! If I am lucky enough to win a red dress as well, I promise I will take a pic wearing it and holding my award. In any instance, thank you a hundred times over for the award and, more importantly, for making me laugh more often than not and reminding me that I am not alone in my “quirks.”
It’s been a YEAR! I think I could use a red dress.
Sometimes I could use the boost a wonderful Red Dress like yours would give me. But as a size 26/28 in this size 14 world, there are none. Luckily, the days when I need such a boost are fewer and farther between than when I was younger.
So, all you young’uns out there, just know, it gets better. In part because you stop giving a damn what other people think, and in part because you know these labels people like to use don’t define your value as a person.
I so want in! I love this blog and everything you do! <3
I once threw a swim prom, which was basically a combination pool party and prom. Everyone jumped in off of the pool edge, in their fancies, and we even had a shallow-end slow dance.
There is a certain beauty in destruction. In living and loving beyond edges, beyond seams, beyond worrying that some things will get damaged in the process.
If I had a red gown, I would wear it first around my house — perhaps a fancy dinner on my roof, for no real reason at all. But then I would begin wandering out– I live in Arizona and I would hike the desert in it, play “duck duck goose” with children, and probably then run away temporarily to california and swim in the ocean. In my raggedly beautiful red dress.
Red dress would be great. My cats would totally steal my babelicious glory by shedding black hair all over it.
Yay! You have made the world a better place and us better citizens of the universe. <3
Hi Jenny!
I have been a long time fan of you and your blog! As a young person who lives with ADHD and anxiety disorder and depression, and to top it all off with my own set of body image issues, I love coming to your blog and reading about you and your life and the supportive comments. I try daily to embody the it gets better and to love myself and others. I have loved the red dress project from the begining but have never had the means to do it, so if it doesnt work out here maybe I can find one at a thrift shop and pass it along after! Keep Doing what you do, because your brilliant at it and it gives others hope! 🙂
Congratulations and thank you for being a voice that makes so many of us feel less alone. Also, gimmie a dress.
Congratulations! You totally deserve it…
Whoo! We are all so proud of you for starting the Traveling Red Dress phenomenon, thank you SO much for all you contribute. 🙂
Oh the trouble I could get into in a red evening gown!
Congratulations! and yes, please. I will share my red dress and award with four of my women friends, all of whom have had breast cancer (not me, I’m the lucky one). Nothing cheers up tired ta-tas like a fine red gown!
I ‘d like to thank the following people for this swanky BadAssMotherfucker Award: my fellow cheeky nominees, my husband (oh wait, got rid of him 3 years ago), to every single self doubting girl. I pass on this bad ass torch on to you, the next beautiful, ballsy generation, and last but not least, to God who made me this way!! Fade out as music plays letting me know I have totally went over my 3 minute time allotment. To which I flip them the bird…cuz, after all, I am a Bad Ass Motherfucker! >.<
Congratulations!! This is huge!
Congratulations! You so totally deserve it.
I’m turning sixty in December and it would be awesome to wear a red ball gown to my party.
Congrats on being recognized for all your hard work! Its always nice when someone besides one’s self notices the value of something one has done.
I’m an English teacher, yet I 100% support the name of this award. “First Annual” just has a ring to it.
Now I have an award to match my bumper sticker. Rad.
Congrats! Congrats!
Congrats on your/our award! I don’t even own a dress only skirts so a red dress would be fantastic!
So, so happy for you…the photos and story from the original Red Dress shoot still make me smile/cry a little. Thanks for being a bright spot in an otherwise dark place. Fingers crossed for a better tomorrow. x.o.
Sweet! You are one heck of a person who helps so many – well deserved! So glad I heard about you through Wil Wheaton!
Congratulations! Being on tv is cool (I had a show done on my business). I was in a coma for 6 weeks and had less than 1% chance to live, but I did, so I figure I will take my chances here to win a red dress! You never know.
you should make this on zazzle business cards!!
you’re awesome, and everyone should have a beautiful red dress
Congrats!
Yay! I’m a BAMF! I’m proud to be one of the recipients of the last, first annual award like that.
Awesome. We deserve it!
I adore your blog and the inspiration you bring to so many of us! Congratulations on all you have accomplished! Many of the women that follow you would wear one of the red dresses proudly! Good luck to the lucky lady that gets chosen!
A BAMF award AND a shot at a red dress that I would happily wear into the lab, if for no other reason than the “WTF” look I would get? Could today possibly get any better?
Hmm. Perhaps an award for a ridiculously long-winded sentence?
Congratulations!!
Amazing how many comments follow the words “giving away” ????.
Congrats! I absolutely aspire to be the recipient of a BAMF award, now or in the future.
Jenny girl, you should have a statue made of pure uranium, sprinkled with M&Ms and rubies. I’d love to have a dress but the odds of a geeky 45 year old redneck woman from Alabama with 6 rescue dogs, who listens to NPR and votes Democrat, who reads obsessively and does graphic design are pretty slim. Still. love your site and love you, honey.
Congratulations, you badass motherfucker. ;D
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
And, how glad I am for that because it was how I ended up finding this place.
It was totally Hunter S. Tomcat’s pimping that got you the award, but you totally deserve this award. Congratulations!
So can I put these awards on my resume?
I’d love to be added to the Red Gown thing! 🙂 Congrats on winning your award! That’s amazing. 😀
Things I love:
Friday
Jenny the Bloggess
Red dresses!
It’s certainly well deserved. I always thought this was an amazing project.
Woohoo! Congrats- how cool!
Red dresses FTW!
Friggen awesome! Those dresses are beautiful. I’d like a chance to win!
amazing as always Jenny,… congrats!
I would love a red dress but I will buy one. I just want to say that I am so glad I found you on my birthday, 3.24.2013 when I turned 43. It was the best gift I ever had gotten. I am so grateful for your quirkness and your sacrasm and your raw truthfullness.
I do hope you read this and if you don’t that is ok too.
NICE!!!!!! A red dress would be stellar. Also, Unicorns would be the victors in the was between them and Zombies. The horn in itself is a powerful brain destroyer, and Unicorns fart rainbows. No one, not even Zombies can resist looking at a rainbow, thus leaving their brains unprotected for the Unicorn horn brain scrambler!!
AWESOME! Way to go, Jenny!
Thanks so much. I would like to thank my dead parents for everything that got me to this award. I am humbled and excited by this honor!
Thanks also for an amazing blog that my friend turned me on to. You are crazy and fabulous which is an awesome combo. Keep the laughs and realness coming. You are always surprising and it is a gift each time I visit your site.
Congratulations, thanks for helping so many of us.
I personally think that this means you should get Hunter S. Thomcat a red dress in celebration
A red evening dress will match my very bloody foot (was hit by a car). I’LL MAKE IT WORK.
Keep motherfucking on!
Congratulations Jenny! I say “first annual” all the time, it is a sign that you plan on starting this, and possibly doing it again in the future. Really people should be in awe that you can predict the future.
Congrats on your award! I adore your blog so much, and you have helped me realize that it doesn’t matter how “good” I think I am, I just need to do it! Anyway, red dresses are my go to dress! I just don’t have a nice formal one anymore 🙁 it got left behind when I was going through some hard times and I haven’t found one to replace it…
I am so happy to be in a line of work that might actually appreciate my Bad-ass Motherfucker Award! Thank you, ma’am.
Thank you for your blog. It helps me immensely, knowing there’s someone out there who uses similar thought processes.
Very very cool! Congratulations. I would LOVE to win a red evening gown….
Congrats and thank you so much for being you. Even on my worst days I know that I’m not alone and that I can get through this. Plus Hunter S Tomcat is just the uber awesome. After re-watching the segment, it really makes me want to do something wonderful/silly/outrageous that I’ve always wanted and I feel that I’m worth spoiling.
I’m in the middle of some really HUGE life transitions right now and a Badass Motherfucker award is exactly the kind of motivation I need right now to keep myself from breaking down and crying at the thought of everything I still need to do.
You know, the zombie vs unicorn IS one of the most important debates of our day. It’s a serious, badass, motherfucking issue!
Congratulations on the award! You and Hunter S. Thomcat are quite the media team.
Congratulations! Can’t tell you how many times your blog and book have made me burst out in giggles. Thanks!
Prizes! I love prizes!!!
Dear Jenny… (sniffle) You know how I feel about the Traveling Red Dress. And that “We” won an EMMA award for that segment on a big time tv show? I’m all verklempt. (That’s a word, right?) But the BAMF award is just too much. I don’t deserve it. I can’t accept it. (How much do you think it’ll fetch on eBay?)
It is really nice to see your star shining so brightly these days! Congratulations!
Congratulations! Can I nominate you for the Badass Motherfucker award? You brighten my days. Incidentally, a red dress would make be brighter…
I am a Badass Motherfucker. Thank you for noticing!
Congrats on the fantastic award! I’ll have to be sure I remember to add Bad-Ass Motherfucker award to my next retail application (no, I don’t have a resume… stop judging me).
That’s great! Thanks to you, I will finally get to give that thank you speech I trained for since I was little. My fear of public speaking usually stands in the way, but the great advantage of an invisible prize is the invisible adoring audience that comes with it, so: Checkmate, anxiety!
Congratulations! This is awesome.
Love the Traveling Red Dress!! I’m going to print out that award certficate and hang it on my fridge.
I would lovelovelove to wear a fancy red dress and feel beautiful..instead of middle aged and chunky and menopausal and invisible to the world.
I’d feel better of someone just called me “miss” instead of “ma’am” for once.
Don’t they know that inside, I am one badass motherfucker?!…at least I know it.
I’ve had the roughest week in the Pediatric ICU getting yelled at by parents. Thanks for this award!
– Dr. BadassMotherFucker
Woo HOO! We kick butt!
A red dress would be awesome because I went searching for a red dress had had difficulty finding one in my size. Darn sizist fashonista!
Congratulations! I love the story of the red dress. Anything women can do to help their self-esteem is amazing!
Woo! I will add the BAMF award to my staggering pile of other (participation) awards.
Congratulations, Jenny!
Me please! I would so enjoy finding someone to pass it on to!
Congratulations!!! Clearly, these award-giving people have excellent taste.
Yay!! Congratulations!
This may be the only annual award, but that’ setter than nothing. You rock my world.
Congratulations, indeed. *applause* (And yes, I want in.)
Sincerest congratulations on the award and heartfelt thanks for mine! I’ve had the year from hell…the death of my son and the murder of his best friend. The last few days have been extra hard and the reminder that I AM a badass motherfucker really is a gift. Thankyou!
Congratulations. You deserve every award and non-award you get!
Yay! After the work week I have had I need a kick ass award! I shall print it and hang it on my fridge next to my Hunter S Thomcat “You.Are.Perfect” card. Which in this case is a purrfect fit (Ha! see what I did there?)
I would also love a chance at the red dress experience!
Congrats, you deserve it. Great award name!
Awesome!! I keep meaning to get organized for the red dress project, so whether I win or not, I’m going to have to get off my ass and do something about it.
That just makes me happy! Yay you!
What about zombie unicorns? That’s terrifying!
I’d love to win a pretty dress. I’d wear it all over the place and be fabulous.
You are awesome. And I am one badass motherfucker because I carved a dalek pumpkin this year. P.s. auto correct wanted to make me say that I am a bass motorcycle instead of a badass motherfucker. Crazy phone.
Congrats, yo! That is crazy awesome and you deserve it 100%!
So enjoying this award with you!
Oooh, I want a red dress. I’d wear that shit to Walmart.
I really want a beautiful red dress. For all kinds of reasons.
Yes. Thank you. Finally. Someone recognizes my badass motherfuckerness! I’d like to thank my family and friend who made this all possible. Also, don’t give me a dress because I have everything now. I just found out I’m gonna be a grandma! Yippee!
Congratulations and you’re welcome!
Congrats!
Congrats Jenny! You totally deserve it! Keep on being awesome!
Congrats Jenny! You totally deserve it! Keep on being awesome!
Congrats!!!! Gosh, my baby girl could sure a pick me up red dress. Graduating with 2 college degrees and not one interview since. My mom heart breaks for her.
Congrats!!!!!
That’s AWESOME! Congratulations on your award!
ASJKHAJKSDFGSDFJHASGFJHASDG AHHHHHHH I *NEED* A RED DRESS!
*ahem*
That is to say, it would totally make my year if I could get a red dress in which to prance around parks and cemeteries.
In other news, I’m not at all shocked that your interview won an award. We’ve all known for years how awesome you are; now the rest of the world is catching up to us. ^_^
I want in
Well here’s for trying. I’ve never won anything but I would love to have a red dress moment. It’s been a hard three years.
Congrats on the award and thank you for sharing
Everyone deserves a BAMF award. It is one of those things to keep in your back pocket and help you get through the day kind of awards. Congrats on your award.
I would love a gorgeous red dress. It is something I have never owned.
I am nervous about posting…..not sure if i could wear a red gown…or any gown! Hope the winners enjoy:-)
Congratulations, Jenny!
Visiting your blog always puts a smile on my face. I have had a truly devastating year, but reading about your wild theories and wacky family experiences always offer me a small ray of sunshine that I can look forward to. Even when you yourself are not feeling all that sunny, it is comforting to know that there are others out there who struggle and still manage to get by.
I would totally turn in my white I-never-got-to-wear-this-because-he-turned-out-to-be-a-jackass-pass-the-wine-please wedding dress for the opportunity to rock a new-me-new-life-can’t-wait-to-start-over fabulous, red dress.
I WANT to be that girl in the red dress. I have avoided red dresses for far too long.
love the red dresses!
How exciting!! Congratulations. The dress looks beautiful. 🙂
Wait, you are giving away red dressed right now? While I am on prednisone and turning into a whale? Gah!
WOOT WOOT!!!!
Hurray! Hope that makes up for the Dr visits! Keep up the good work!
I’m so happy for you Jenny! You are the best and I’m so glad you’re getting recognized 🙂 I’ve had a rough year and would love to do my own red dress shoot.
Something that is the first annual is actually the “inaugural”event, so I am happy to accept the inaugural badass mo-fo award.
I wish I could put up that award at work…… Maybe I’ll be able to wear a red dress instead!
Congratulations! You are really an inspiration, and you do so much for so many people! (Plus you have an awesome name!)
Jenny, you are the baddest, badass motherfucker! You lead our pack! Red dress? Sure! LOVE one! Stay cool.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing yourself. The award is well-deserved.
Wow! An Emma! Way to go, Jenny. Looks like you were in some semi-awesome company there. As for my size, I’m about to lose a lot of weight, so I’ll have to give it to you later. When I win, of course.
Bad ass Motherfucker…my next embroidery project
Wow! Congratulations to you!!
I love RED!! It’s my color, so I would look awesome.
You are the best, and make me laugh, a lot!
Holy shit first TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year and now Badass Motherfucker? Totally putting this on my resume.
Thanks for the award! I would super love a red evening dress.
Yay! You are a bad ass mo fo!
I like the 1st annual badass motherfuckin award…… and it is very pretty. Hmmmm, I wonder if I can print it out……
Congratulations! I am officially labeled an Affable Cold-Ass Mother Fucker.
AHA! Success! Well, sortof, I was hoping for a page sized award, and ended up with a 1/4th page award, but beggers can`t be chosers.
I win an award, and YOU hand out RED DRESSES? Yayayayay!
To quote the wise words of Miss Sally Field,
“You like me! You really LIKE me!”
Thank You
Congratulations to you and Hunter S. Tomcat!
Not really a surprise since you are always super bad-ass amazing! Congrats!!
I wouldn’t know what to do with a red dress. Does that mean I would have to automatically feel better even though I can’t find it in me?
But this isn’t about me. Congratulations for all your hard work. You deserve it and so much more!!
I want to thank my family, my three cats and especially The Blogess, for without her this award would not be possible.
Drop my name in the hat please.
Congratulations to you and to Hunter S. Thompson on the award. Very well-deserved!
That’s awesome!
Thank you. I am so pleased and honored to be included with this year’s BAMF award recipients!
I will treasure this award always. Now off to LinkedIn to add it to my resume!
So wonderful to hear! The dress concept is so amazing.
Woot woot! Congrats on the award, and thanks for passing on the wealth 🙂 I’d wear a red dress with pride!
Dude, “first annual” is SO totally a thing–it simply means that you intend to do this annually, and this is the first time. And personally, I think your good intentions (however unlikely they are to work out) to do this annually are enough to declare this the first annual occurrence of this event.
Yay! You truly deserve the award. You are awesome.
I’ve never won anything.
Nothing.
I’d like to thank the academy, those who have stood by me when I was a nobody, my family….I could go on and on.
Congrats!! You totally deserve it!!
Congrats!!
AND PICK ME!
This was a dream since I was 5. But I knew with hard-work and focus, I would get a Bad Ass Motherfucker award. I’m so pleased that today, it’s come true.
Seriously, congrats Jenny!! You ARE one BAM
Congrats! Well deserved.
This makes me furiously happy.
Congrats! You were fabulous (as always) on the show!!!
Congratulations!!
Congratulations! I love your blog, it makes my day whenever I read it.
First annual is totally a thing. You looked great.
I want to hang this up in my office. 🙂
you certainly deserve this award, you gave the millions of us a face and a message.. it’s ok to be us and it takes courage to be us, because giving into the lie could be so easy. hum, did any of you have to sit through “the red badge of courage” with audie murphy.. i think i may be dating myself here but jenny you would know, he was a texan. he was one of the most decorated veterans of ww2. i think the red dress would be our “red badge of courage”
thanks for the award. i’ll tape it to my forever wall
I’m having one of those days where I needed a win. Thank you for pointing out I’m totally a badass motherfucker.
You are AMAZING. I want to be like you when I grow up. I’ve been struggling with my weight off and on for my whole life due to being low thyroid and I’m currently at my highest weight (again!). I would love a red dress to remind myself that it doesn’t matter what weight I am, beauty comes from within.
Congrats! I’m team unicorn all the way!
I’ve been reading your blog for so long. I rarely comment because I tend to read entries way late and everyone has already said everything to be said. I definitely always feel better, though, knowing someone out there is as anxiety prone as I am (and loves cats). Congrats! Much deserved win and thank you for all you do.
Hurrah! Congrats. I usually make up awards to give to myself but you’re so amazing other people are making up awards to give to you.
Can I comment to be entered to be one of the ever so lucky badass mutherfuckers in a red dress…. AND comment to volunteer some photography skills?!?! Cause that’s totally what I’m doing. Love & Congrats coming every which way to you and yours!!
Sweet! Congrats on the award, extra treats for Hunter S. Thomcat!
Just awesome!!!
I went back to read some of the other “Red Dress” stuff and I’m in love.
The pictures are fabulous and the dress is to die for…
I have a red top I got to wear at a wedding. I will not go quietly into the night!!!!
Congrats to all of us. We’re badass.
I love the red dress project btw!!
Yay!
And the answer is unicorns. It’s always unicorns.
So, Hunter S. gets tuna for his part in the award-winning segment, yes?
Congrats to you both!
Love it!!!!!! Congrats
I found you when I was going through some crap with a couple of (now) ex-friends; they were trying to make me into them. Not a wise thing to to to anyone, let alone to someone will do the exact opposite of what you want her to do because you want her to do it. At any rate, reading most of your archived posts as well as your memoir helped me realize some things: A) I’m happy to be me. 2) I’m not the only weirdo out there who freaks people out by doing unusual things. D) My true friends accept me for who I am, no matter what. And I love the award. Underneath my quiet exterior hides a BAMF.
Best award I’ve ever received
I’m off to google now. It’s not often that I get to watch T.V.
Congrats! Your blog and book make my life feel totally acceptable for the public. Seriously……I realized I’m not the only one that has weirdo life experiences. 😀
Your blog.
Has seriously gotten me through some super rough times lately. So thanks. Thanks for all you do.
And I am applying for jobs right now, so thanks for the resume builder.
Awesomeness and I need a new red dress to wear around the house while I take care of three kiddos, cook , clean, do laundry, be chauffeur, etc.
YES. I’ve been waiting to win a Badass Motherfucker award for years now.
Congratulations you bad ass mother fucker!
Congrats on your award! And thanks for honoring me with a BAMF! I mean, you don’t even know me. I, along with all of my amazing co-workers, had a killer day today, and I would like to share this award with them. However, as they are all also huge fans of your blog, they probably already know about it, which makes my sharing with them less special. Dammnit. I was feeling all kind and generous and stuff too. Those ungrateful bastards.
I always knew I was a bad-ass motherfucker, it was just a matter of time before everyone else recognized that.
You are an inspiration! Thank you for the wonderful award and we are Badass Motherfuckers! The red dress is a terrific idea and I will have to free my red dress from its hidden spot in the closet and let it see more light! I have a secret red dress hiding from my early 20s that I am aiming to fit into again (I have no photos of me in that dress, and isn’t that depressing!) and if I do not then I will definitely offer it up as a donation to the Travelling Red Dress movement!
You are awesome…
I’d like to give a Bad-Ass Mother Fucker award to my mom.
This has got to be one of the most amazing things you have done ever. Thank you for being brave and sharing your Story online. You make me feel braver and happier and all that just by Beong ?
Your blog is honestly the highlight of my day. With all the stress I have going on in my life these days, your blog makes me feel not so alone…
Pfft. phone typos. 🙂 just by Being I meant.
Ee Gad! This is why you and Hunter S Thomcat are BADASS MOTHER FUCKERS! YEAAAAAAH!
I put my award on the mantle. Thanks for sharing!
Man, I’d love a red dress, maybe someday after I lose the baby weight. Damn fertility treatments.
Oh well, 1300 entries but no win if you don’t enter. Love your site.
I am proud and honored to accept this Badass Motherfucker Award. On behalf of Badass Motherfuckers everywhere, thank you!
Totally awesome and well deserved!
I’d like to hang my new BadAss MotherFucker award in my classroom. That’ll make the naughty kids think twice. 😉
I picture more of a trophy sitting in my hands… A Badass Motherfucker trophy. It has some weight to it too! Clearly you went all out and didn’t skimp on your fans! 😉 Keep ’em coming!
Best. Award. Ever.
Congratulations! I have actually shared your website and encouraged others to look into the traveling red dress. I have never thought I could ask for one because I wasn’t deserving enough and because they don’t make them big enough for me. I have recently decided that I am worth it, no matter what others say to me or how I allow them to make me feel. So, I am trying to win a red dress…..because I am a badass mother fucker!
Your segment was much too short. They should have had you on for the entire hour!
1Congratulations! Awesome. Have the ruby red slippers … want the red dress
Yay for the travelng red dress! And you too. Keep the dress going!
I happen to look extraordinary in red.
wheeeee!
It’s sort of a heavy award but I accept with all gratitude!
AWESOME!!! Well deserved!
Btw ….I vote for unicorns
The segment was amazing! plus those gowns are super pretty. CONGRATULATIONS!
Congrats Jenny!
Congratulations! You deserve it!
I vote for the 2nd annual award goes to anyone who remembers we get a 2nd annual award next year. I didn’t see this in any of the other comments, but I just kind of scanned some because there were a lot of words and my attention span is the equivalent of a gnat’s.
Love the project! I hope to someday be brave enough to be photographed in a red dress!!
you totally rock and it’s about damn time someone gave you a fancy-ass award to prove it!! Congrats, my dear!!
I would love to have a red dress. I’ve been through a lot of crap this last year, unofficially being kicked out of my house (I was so unwelcome after coming out of closet), mild depression (lost a ton of friends), but life starts to turn around. I have an awesome bf and his family’s love and new friends and your blog helps cheer me up on low days 🙂 Congrats Jenny on your award.
How exciting! Congrats!!!
Wonderful!
Thanks for the BAMF Award!!! You are awesome.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Red evening dress for meeee!!!
Red just might be my color…
That’s awesome, Jenny! You deserve all the awards!
I need the red dress for my wife of 35 years, Annie!!!
Congrats!
Congratulations. Very cool. I don’t need to win a red dress because I actually got up the nerve to BUY a fantabulous red dress, and matching red shoes, but have unfortunately NOT gotten up the nerve to WEAR it. Sigh.
Congratulations! May your success be everlasting and Hunter S. Tomcat not hog all the publicity, always.
So I’m probably too late to win the red dress award, because I’ve been working like a Mother-fucking badass to keep my job and keep my family in our cute little house, but if I *could* win the red dress
award I would TOTALLY wear the awesome dress to work and tell everyone I won the first annual mother-effing (this *is* work ya know) award for super awesome people. And would take a picture of me and send it to you to post here… So, did I win??
I need a red confidence dress.
Of course you won an award you’ve never heard of before. You’re just that much of a badass.
That is sooo awesome Jenny! Congrats! I have wanted to do my own red dress photo shoot, ever since reading your post… MUST do that still! Not that I’ll win your contest or anything… I just wanted to be one of the many who love your blog saying how well deserved the award is! 🙂
I can’t actually wear that dress, though if ever got rich enough for plastic surgery, I would. That is one gorgeous dress you picked out. Congratulations!
Congrats on the award! Love your blog….
Melanie
Looks like BAMF is a big club, we should get T-shirts
Congrats! You totally deserve the awesome!
Congratulations my dear! You desperately deserve any award for the tremendous amount of people you help on a regular basis. I’ve never been able to take part in the red dress project and I’m rather terrified to even think about it but I love watching how it changes and helps other. Major kudos to you and your awesomeness.
Awesome!
Congrats on the award! Love the BAM award also! Would love to be in on the red dress giveaway, count me in.
just started reading your blog since I read your book a month or so ago…and it’s awesome that you got that award, but I’m surprised that you got 10 times as many comments on an entry that you’re giving way something….hmmmm….go figure.
Congrats! That’s so awesome!
Oh my gosh…I didn’t even prepare a speech! Let me thank all the people in life that helped me get where I am today and to Hunter S. Thomcat for being to ridiculously photogenic! Now if you could only get him a red dress..
Thank you, thank you. ::wipes fake fear from eye:: I’d like to accept this award I’m honor of mother, without whom I would not be the BAMF that I am today. I humbly accept this award and will treasure it always.
Congratulations! Your blog, your book, you in general have made my life better for knowing I’m not alone. This year, I’ve had pneumonia, fallen down an entire flight of stairs and cracked my head open resulting in an ongoing 6 month concussion, broke a toe, had my front door shatter on me for no reason, had a septic tank back up in my kitchen, lost my job and then had a psycho ex get out of jail and send me an email to try to reconcile. I could really, really, really use a red dress. Just to get me through to 2014….
There aren’t many things that will make me comment, but a free dress….
In all seriousness, this blog makes the stupid parts of my brain shut up, and that is so valuable. Thank you.
Woohoo! Red dresses all around!
Congratulations on your award – you’re going multi-media, baby!
crazy cats are awesome! I am in.
Congrats! I’m hoping to get a Red Dress for my best friend. She is an amazing person who has been battling depression for the last few years. I gave her your book & she loves it. She deserves her red dress moment!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! You won an award and you invented an award. You should get Another award for extreme coolness – I would totally vote for you. Well, I would vote for myself first but then I would vote for you as ru ner up. I have no supporting evidence of coolness but a girls gotta dream.
Anyway, congratulations.
Count me in. I could use a fabulous red dress.
Count me in. I could use something other than mom jeans.
Congrats! Well deserved! And I really want a red dress!
Your blog is one if the few that I keep up with reading. You make me feel so normal- which I mean as a compliment 🙂
Awww, you gave us a BAMFie award! Nobody deserves it more than we do!
I’d love a red dress, I kinda need one at this point.
That’s so cool! Congrats!
In!
Congrats! You deserve any and every award – you can make people laugh even when they reallydont want to – what an amazing gift!
I was introduced to your blog by a dear friend. He has regaled me with your stories, while reminding me that the mutual struggles of all those with hidden illnesses are a little easier when shared. I have a red dress of my own, made not long before I learned of your amazing project. My grandmother had given me a stunning piece of antique(ish) red cotton velveteen with a strict condition. Before I was allowed to use even a scrap for anyone else, I had to use the majority of it for myself. From this was born my favorite Renaissance Faire garb, a Flemish Surcote with brown and gold trim. This dress has also taken to being lent about and every person who has worn it mentioned felling a little more regal for the experience.
Congratulations!!
I neeeeeeed a red dress. And congrats on your award.
Congrats!
My totally badass mutherfuckery has gone largely unacknowleged until this moment…for that I express my deepest appreciation. I love prizes. Even imaginary ones. And my sexy gimpiness would be amazingly showcased by a dazzling red party dress.
Love the award!
Hi my name is Sara and this is the first time i post a comment because its that red dress that made me start reading your blog. I just loved how happy you were running around in that red dress and i just fell in love with your writing . You always make me laugh like a crazy person so thank you and congratulations to you and Hunter S. Thomcat.
I have always known I am a badass motherfucker…now I have the award to prove it! This is soooo going on my résumé…that is if I had a résumé…guess I now have a reason to have a resume…(and BTW I like the way autocorrect randomly decides when to our the accents on “resume”…)
Seriously you totally rock and give great joy to all of us…
Your blog always cheers me up. I’m disabled and the caretaker of my husband, so laughter and cheer aren’t always a huge part of my day. Listening to you talk about your life helps me see the joys in mine, and I can’t thank you enough. Thank you for bringing something as magical as the traveling red dress to life!
BEST AWARD EVER!!!
I love your traveling red dress. Every story I’ve read has brought me to tears. They are all so beautiful. I wear my red dress on the inside, and I don’t need one right now. If you randomly pick me, please move on to someone else.
Love that women are supporting women.
Congratulations! And thank you for the awesome award!
I’m sad that the dress only goes up to size 16. 🙁 What about us extra curvy girls who wear a size 20/22??? I’d look like a badass motherfucker in a red evening gown… just saying…
Congratulations! And Thanks for the B-AMF award. I’ve printed it, and I’m getting it framed first thing tomorrow. If I’m the lucky winner of a Red Dress, I’ll wear it to my college graduation.
Wooot! I’m a winner!!!
Congrats to you!
The badass motherfucker award should come as a little Beyoncé statue
…You like me…You really like me….
I’m happy to say my old red prom dress is being upcycled into a Halloween/Steam Punk coatume for my 15 year old. I keep looking at it and wish I could put it on one more time, but alas…too many decades, a couple of kids and one chronic illness too many and it is just not meant to be. It is amazing seeing her face light up when she puts it on.
Ah-mazing!
Yippee!
Have dress, need photographer. Or at least the money to hire one. Or someone crazy enough to do it for me.
I actually sort of want to have my picture taken next to Calamity Jane’s grave….
WOOT! Congrats to you and HST, and also the rest of us, for the award! Always remember these life-affirming gifts. You do us proud! Also – great choice on the dress – it’s gorgeous! (And I hate anything that requires me to wear spanx to prevent my thighs from rubbing together, so that is a high compliment.)
Zombies would win in a fight between zombies and unicorns. Unicorns are too innocent to stab people. Although if they were zombie unicorns…
I would love a red maternity dress. I’ve been feeling all kinds of stressed about Baby lately. This is the first time I’ve commented on you blog. I don’t know if you’ll read fifteen hundred comments to get to mine but you inspire me every time you post.
…. Do…. Do you have to be a woman to win a Red Dress?
Cause I could totally rock one of those….
yey! award! red dress! awesome! soon, BAMFA will be the most coveted award in the universe. 😀
Congratulations you, all of youssss. I wants the red dress, precious.
Woohoo!
Awesome!! Love you girl, you crack me up!!! 🙂
Congratulations! And what a fun giveaway! I’d love to be entered!
*RAISING HAND*
seriously fun giveaway. I can’t wear a red dress right now because I’m 8 months pregnant.. the movement going on in there is some scary crap– I feel like that scene where the alien busts out of the persons stomach.. but it never happens. So if the giveaway is for an amazon gift card? I’m totally a size… ‘WTH is that?’ Lol..
So how about support the troops??? Or at least their better halves. I’m a USMC stay at home momma on a tighter than tight budget. I think you would get a kick out of the fact that your book is located in the Camp Lejeune EDUCATION library not the regular library and has the sticker clearly marked on the side EDUCATION. You are my teacher for sure a true GURU of belly aches from too much chortles snorts and full body contact guffawing. I blame you for all of the evil glares and glances I received in public when reading your educational textbook. I’m surprised some of those disturbed by me genuine giddiness thought perhaps it was time to up my meds. I was able to contain my self- NOT, but I did attempt inside hilarity unsuccessfully I may add. Their unhappy glares and glances couldn’t keep my unwelcome uncontrollable laughter and snorting (yes I’m a snorter) at bay. Eye rolling ensued- a lot. Seriously though the USMC birthday ball is in November and I could really rock a red dress and get an awesome Marilyn Monroe style pic of a throng of Marines holding up all 185 pounds of little old 5’2” me. Bring on the haute couture. My body yearns for the ball gown of my dreams. Thank you for being just a little weirder than me in some ways and soooo not in others. Kisses my taxidermy, rooster loving, amazing inspiration of a Guru. BTW shameless self promotion- if you want some art shoot me an email. I would love to be able to say the Blogess not only owns, but was the first one to buy my work. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=486935478080488&set=a.307024482738256.69119.100002921192365&type=1 My paintings are on the white square rack to the left of the two men. You know you want them. They are calling out to you. Oh yeah I’m a size 18 I hope this doesn’t disqualify me. That would be well just wrong.
Congratulations Jenny!
Reddress, reddress (wiggles finger in mirror)
First off, this would be awesome to have on my future resume. Secondly, as part of my program we are having a formal dance thing and having a red dress would be only secondly as awesome as having a Hufflepuff dress.
You are truly an amazing woman! It’s nice to see how a struggle can turn into a miracle! I would love for once to accept who I am and to accept my body for all the curves that it has and know that I am blessed! I love your blogs they help me through each day knowing that there is still good out there I just have to open my eyes to see it!
Thanks and God Bless
Kylie
Hi, Jenny! I’m a new mom/wannabe opera singer/voice teacher, and I think I would use a red dress like that to sing and make the world a slightly more beautiful place. Also, just to feel beautiful. Because you know how it is to be a new mom–you need a boost, that’s for sure.
Love, love, love your blog. Had to come out of lurkage, because “red dress” is the code phrase our string quartet uses when someone’s gotten distracted.
Congratulations! Love your blog!
Ohhhhh yeahhhhh! I’m super excited to use the Badass award certificate for all the free crap I can get. “Hey Mom! Guess what I won!”
Not requesting a red dress, just read that you are coming to Australia, and thought that you should read a couple of things to understand us a bit better.

If you come to Melbourne, visit the Melbourne Art gallery so you can lie on the floor and look up at the huge stained glass ceiling. Like being in Atlantis. Very relaxing because it’s subltly lit.
I want in!
Wow amazing Jenny and congratulations! You deserve it all and then some!
best award evah!!!
Congratulations, Jenny. You have done so much for so many. You deserve to win an award…especially your badass motherfucker award.
I so need a red dress. And congratulations. That’s awesome!
Omg! Now I can totally legitimize my claim of being badass. Fuck yeah! Imma gonna put that on my blog!
Also – I would love a chance at a red dress. 🙂
congratulations on winning! You definitely deserve it.
Animals are so the best way of making social situations less awkward. Hence I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. I think your cat should also get a bad ass award!
Congratulations btw. Big achievement sweetie.
Yes – put me in that red dress.
It’s awesome that you’re getting the recognition that you deserve. Well, that we deserve, but we nominated you to go on TV and stuff as we would all mess up the set and giggle inappropriately and generally embarass ourselves. But not you – you have the sangfroid we don’t.
Congrats! Cute dress 🙂
You are awesome and you deserve every bit of respect and recognition this award represents. Congrats!
Congratulations! Were would we be without our cats winning things for us? Thanks for the award–I’d post it on my teacher webpage, but, well, job.
Congratulations! Where would we be without our cats winning things for us? Thanks for the award–I’d post it on my teacher webpage, but, well, job.
Congrats! That was a great segment.
Of course the unicorns would win. Until there is a hybrid zombie-unicorn. Zombicorn? The magical horn would lure the prey close enough to strike. Just like that fish with the glowing light that almost ate Dory and Nemo.
Trying to comment on a kindle is a pita. But congrats! I love the traveling red dress. Next remission, I’m doing it!!
Your book is making me look like a nut in the breakroom! I actually had to announce I was reading a really funny book the other day because the day before I had a stare down after reading the getting lost for the eighty thousandth time chapter because I pretty sure the rest of them were talking about a funeral. I love your book because it makes me laugh. To put that in perspective when I read the comic page in the paper and rarely laugh aloud. Congrats on your award !
You. Make. Me. Smile.
Congrats on Hunter S. Thomcat winning an award! I mean, you. I mean, Katie Couric. We love you all 🙂
Yay! Congrats!
I often spend hours dreaming of unicorns annhiliating zombies while Copernicus leads the charge…it would be even more awesomr wearing a red dress
I’d like to win that red dress. It would be funny to wear it to work at a software company. Totally confuse the guys.
I printed out my award, plus another one and gave it to my mum. Spreading the love. <3
Bad-ass Motherfuckers for the win!
Congrats, Jenny!
Oh Jenny, I would love to have a red dress!! I’ve even blogged about it and joined the facbook group and every thing. See? Here’s my post: http://awalkthroughmmsb.wordpress.com/2012/09/12/a-red-dress-for-me/ Oh please pleasepleaseplease pick me!!! xoxo
Thank you for reminding me that depression lies, and for being brave and awesome.
I want in.
Also, congrats! The segment was fantastic, just like you 🙂
That’s an amazing coincidence, I won a First Annual Bad-Ass Mptherfucker Award when I opened my Honey Nut Cheerios this morning and found a Star Wars Samuel L. Jackson pen! Because obviously the BAMA, which everyone totally calls them, would be in the shape of Samuel L. Jackson, right? So, um, free dress, please? I want Sam to look pretty.
I am an avid reader of yours and a red dress enthusiast. Broken hearts are best healed by red dresses. I am fially in New York City and I would shamelessly wear my dress on the subway.
As if you need an award! We all know you are a Badass Motherfucker!! (and so are all of us!!!
Congratulations! Your posts make me laugh out loud, scaring both my husband and cat by the way, and I believe bringing a little sunshine to a person’s day is a gift. So you deserve this award.
I I have been trying to comment since last night, I love your writing..
You win an award and celebrate by giving to your fans? I swear you must have two hearts. Admit it: you’re a Time Lord.
Legally change your name to 1st Annual. Grammar problem solved!
I would like to thank me Mom…… And to Jenny for making me laugh out loud and spitting my lunch all over my keyboard on a regular basis.
Congratulations! Looking at the other recipients of the award, it looks like a serious honor. All of the others were for very serious non-funny achievements. But you did something beautiful & amazing while pulling our heartstrings and making us laugh. You make a difference in people’s lives, Jenny. You’ve saved lives with your posts. You are an incredible woman, and God is working through you even if you don’t realize it. Much love!
Congrats! And thank you, I did not expect to be winning an award this morning so I’m pretty pumped.
That is so great! Congrats and thank you! I definitely want in on the dress… Lord knows I need one, battling my own anxiety and depression related to PTSD while, at the same time, providing pastoral care for patients in crisis and enduring the ever-present question of “are you sure you belong here?” from my peers. I so need something to boost my spirits and visibly remind me of my strength!
Grats!!!!
By the way… zombies would win. Zombies do that shambling mob thing. Sheer shambling numbers would eventually wittle down the poor unicorns strength and … maybe it would escape but probably not before being bitten. BUT THEN! You would wind up with UNICORN ZOMBIE, and no one would be safe.
Sounds like you need a wallet like Samuel L. Jackson’s, you bad ass MF’er! Congrats!
wooohooo
The red dress campaign means a lot to me. I’m so glad it keeps on going.
I’m putting this award on the shelf with my other awards. Technically, it’s my first award, but I’m sure there will be others.
So many hugs and congratulations!!
I’d love to win a dress. I’m having trouble visualizing the award. The dress would help. 🙂
Congrats! I am turning my wedding into a nerd prom and will be donating my non wedding non white dress afterwards and am encouraging others who come to wear dresses that make them outgraeously happy and to donate theirs as well. My fiancé proposed with your picture of Wil Wheaton so we are trying to incorporate as much Bloggess love into our day as possible. Thanks for helping us be outgraeously undeniably happy.
Red dresses are awesome ! <3 Congrats on the award ! 😀
Can I get a cape like they wore in Lord of the Rings? Because I seriously want one of those like nobody’s business. Leaf clasp and all.
Awesome!
Congratulations!
I wanted to get married in a red dress but caved to peer pressure…..so now I’m trying to convince my little sister to do it at her wedding for me!
My sister’s name is Jenny and she is the best. Awesome people named Jenny? Word. If I win, I want to buy her a dress.
Everyone needs a red dress!!
Congratulations! Also, I would love a red dress 🙂 And that one is gorgeous!
congrats and thanks for sharing! 🙂
Of course I want a red dress. Who wouldn’t? But more than that, I want a Badass Motherfucker award. I would frame it and display it proudly in my dining room. Go ahead, complain about the sweet potatoes. I’m a badass motherfucker, I will win!
I would love a red dress…however I love a Badass Motherfucker Award more!! Thanks for being my total doppleganger in all things that are taxidermy and scatteredness (BTW…scatteredness is totally a word–like “stabby”).
congratulations indeed! I look forward to all your posts, love your writing. Thank you for sharing, it helps so much to know I’m not alone
Yay for us! We won!
Unicorns would kill zombies in a fit! They are f-ing magical and the horns can rip the heads off zombies. We should probably start breeding unicorns so we are ready when the zombies come.
Don’t ever leave me. I know I am being needy but you are addictive. Lol.
I’m so glad I found your blog. You make me happy.
I am so honored to receive this award, and to be in the company of so many other Badass Motherfuckers! Best. Award. Ever. Team Unicorn, all the way!
Nice award and thanks for sharing. May have to pt it on my desktop…but definitely sharing on Tumblr. Because….HEY, I WON AN AWARD!
I don’t know where I would wear a red dress but I could walk around in my house waving at my dog & cats!
That’s so great! Reading you (quiet lurker though I am) has helped me immeasurably over the years. I am so happy to see you getting so much recognition. The red dresses are just one tiny example of your positive influence on this world. Thank you.
Wow – I thought the only award I would get was the “making it through the day” award. You ALWAYS make my day better.
Thank you Jenny for sharing your life with us. I’m not sure I deserve the awesome BAMF award but thanks, perfect timing! I am going to meet someone from a dating site for the first time tonight. I am scared to death, my first date in 19 years – I hope he’s not a serial killer but if he acts weird I know I can get stabby any time. You and the tribe give me courage, and hope that even as old as I am I still have a life worth leading. I’d love to try the red dress but I doubt I would ever feel like I could wear it out of the house except maybe in my back yard at night with a full moon or something like that.
Congratulations! Of course we all know how much you deserve this–you’re a shining light for so many in the causes of self-acceptance and bringing mental illness to the level of discussion it needs!
Unicorns would totally win!
Congratulations! That’s completely wonderful and I hope they all wear red dresses to the ceremony. If there’s a ceremony. Uh, anyway! 🙂
Congratulations Jenny! It’s an amazing program.
You are awesome! Reading your blog helps me get through the day with a smile 🙂
Congratulations Jenny!
Love this!! So cool. Thank you for all you do!
Congrats on your award, fake or not, you deserve awards and accolades, and everything else good.
Just want to thank you again. In a world where I continually feel like I’ve lost my sense of humor, you manage to make me laugh. And no, this isn’t your life is so funny, lets laugh at you thing.. I think it’s that Every-one’s life is F-dup. The world is F-dup, but you manage to bring a little light to the subjects, while still admitting things are F-dup.
Thank you for sharing, I look forward to your blog posts- because even if they don’t make me smile, it makes me feel a little more like we’re all in this sHtuff together.
Seriously guys, you have to go to this website, it turns your webpage into gangster speak, hilarious!
http://gizoogle.net/
Sometimes, they care about Jell-O shots, too.
Keep up the great work, Jenny! You’re amazing!
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you.
Congrats!
Yay for Lawsbians! I would love to win a dress! I feel like I could really use it right now!
You are the awesomeist! (That is totally a word)
Woot! I am damn proud of you. Hunter S. Thomcat was ridiculously cool, but you smiled and crawled your little ol’ way into my heart. More so than usual! Also, you’ve got this, you ARE awesome. You, you’re going to get this shit together, motherfucker! <3
Er,DRAWLED. Damon you, Kindle Fire!
How exciting for you!! Congrats on your award. I think you deserve it. Thank you so much your words matter to me I appreciate your honesty about depression and it really does help to hear how others are still figuring it out too. Thank you so much for all that you do!
Totally needed to win something today!
If there are any hungarian readers here who want to be a part of this, I would love to take their pictures! I’m not professional, but aspiring to be. So if you want a photoshoot somewhere in the Budapest area, contact me. You can check out my work on my blog: http://cosmopolitaninthemaking.wordpress.com/
Only thing, I don’t have a red dress 🙂
I don’t think good grammar and being a bad-ass motherfucker are mutually exclusive…but I’ve never really understood the prohibition against “first annual” so maybe I’m just a bad grammarian?
Congrats on the recognition of how awesome you are 🙂
Congrats and I want in too! I need a little red dress in my life right now!
I don’t want a red dress, but I would like to say that first annual works if you expect to start an annual tradition 😀
Congratulations! You are awesome! I sent a link to your blog to my husband b/c he wasn’t home when I read it and I wanted him to see what made me laugh so hard…..he said it was good….but even better when I read it to him. So you benefit two people in our house! Yay!
You’re amazing and you deserve all the awards out there!
@datdamwuf (#1604): Good luck on your date! You will be fabulous! I’ve been on a ton of blind first dates this year–more than I’ve been on my whole life (wow, yes, a fat woman can appeal to *some* men LOL) and if I can do it, you totally can! I hope it works out but if not, I hope you get a good story out of it! 🙂
If I were to be chosen to receive a dress I would use the shit out of photographing women in my community because I’m a Badass Mother Fucker with a camera and some photography skillz! Oh, congrats on your award too.
Awesome news! Red Dresses rule!
Woohoo! Finally – someone who recognizes talent when they see it!
YAYYYY! <3
Thank you so much for recognizing my Bad Ass Motherfuckery!
My Graphic Arts nerd-daughter wants to know what font you used to create this flippin’ awesome banner?
(Personally, I don’t give a fig, but I could use a new dress.)
congratulations 🙂
I’m so glad you write and speak- it helps get me through the week. Especially this one, with my husband’s medicinally amped up depression. Don’t stop the signal.
I never read blogs before this one and I’m hooked! Thanks for being so inspirational. The Red Dress project actually had me crying when I first read about it. Keep up the amazing work!
I think your Zazzle shop could use a trophy that includes Hunter S. Thomcat, so that all of us who are being awarded could share in his awesomeness. Since we cannot share in his snuggles.
Thank you, Jenny. You make my life wonderful when I cannot find the lights to turn them on.
I want the red dress for my ex-who is still a wonderful person, has been having a crappy, year and because you posted this on her birthday, which would technically make it a birthday present.
a confession (actually several confessions. why not?).
I just stumbled across your blog today after all this time. You would have thought that if someone (me) reads a book written by an author called ‘the Bloggess’ and it pretty much saves her life, that it might occur to said reader (again, me) to actually go and check out the Bloggess’ blog. nope.
Now I discover this about the red dress and your depression and cutting & how you have inspired so many to tell their own stories and realise they aren’t alone. Amazing. thank you. I guess it is better late than never, so I join you all today in saying I suffer with the same.
It was the middle of the night , during one of my most horrible bouts ever, having spent days in bed and just had a huge argument with my husband, when I managed to actually pick up your book which someone had lent me. NormallyI don’t even have the energy to read when crippled with depression, but your book is so funny throughout that i had me chortling. my husband did not see that i was reading under the covers and assumed that I was crying again. So he apologized for arguing and rubbed my back telling me it would all be ok. poor guy, i never did actually tell him that i was laughing and not crying. he might have taken that apology back!
I finshed the book the next day and then reread it. it really helped me pull out of that particular episode. have given about 6 copies to friends now. really thank you.
anyway, i probably could have used a red dress back when you were doing that, but I probably wouldn’t have had the courage to wear it anyway, considering dresses don’t look that great on me. maybe a red pantsuit. if you ever do a red pantsuit project, count me in!
Congratulations to you and your people on this fine award.
So badass!
thank you for everything
Congrats on the award, and thanks for making me realize that being sad is ok.
I would love a red dress!!
Unicorns would definitely win against zombies.
Can I please win the red dress?
Your blog helps me get through my days. Thank you so much. May I win a red dress? I read about it and it’s absolutely amazing.
Congrats!!! and I think zombie unicorns would kick everyone’s ass!!! P.S I would love a red dress.
So many people to thank for this award; truly, it’s an honor just to be nominated. Especially since I didn’t even know I was nominated or that this award existed. Bad-ass Motherfuckery, indeed.
FINALLY I have proof! I have been trying to tell people what a badass motherfucker I am & now I have the credentials to show it. Also, I would love to win a red dress to appropriately look the part! 🙂
Just discovering your blog now, which is inexplicable since your book saved my ass last year by helping me chuckle my way out of my depression hell. normally I don’t even have the energy to lift a book, let alone read it when I am depressed.
Confession: during that time, a one point I had pulled the book under the covers with me in bed and trying not to laugh outloud so as to wake my husband who I had just had a big argument with. Fail. he woke and thought I was crying again and actually apologized for arguing with me. hehehe tinge of guilt). Anyway, I admire you now more than ever, now that i read how you have shared your stories about dealing with mental health and cutting. Until right now, I’ve never have revealed in a public forum that I cut and that I have spent years trying not to kill myself. So thanks for giving me a place to say it and for bringing huge laughter and relief to the world.
unlike you, I never looked good in a dress unfortunately, red or otherwise. pantsuits might be a different story though. if you ever do a red pantsuit project, count me in!
CONGRATS TO YOU AND YOUR PEOPLE ON THIS MOST AWESOME AWARD!
Congrats! And I would love a red dress for my newly necessary (sniff sniff I miss real pizza) gluten free self.
I want in!
That does it. For Halloween I was going to be a viking, but now I’m dressing up as a contestant in a beauty pageant and I’m going all out: the gown, the tiara, and a glittery sash that says Miss Badass Motherfucker.
You’re amazing! I was invited to be in a red dress photo shoot recently & couldn’t because I didn’t have one. Made me sad but I support everyone despite that, because you’ve shown me a reason to! Thank you!
I’m so glad my sister told me about this blog! It’s probably one of the most consistently funny things I read. And I love dresses.
Congratulations! You’re amazing and such an inspiration to me.
Congratulations and hell ya on the red dress give-a-ways!!!
Well, I for one would like to award you with the ‘Person Most Likely to Make Me Laugh Hard Enough to Split Open My Spleen…’ Now that I think about it, that sounds highly unpleasant, but I assure you, it is the highest praise I can bestow. I expect your gracious acceptance speech to start by formally thanking Beyonce.
Bacon.
Congratulations, Jenny! You’re amazing. Reading your blog reminds me that… well, that it’s not just me. So glad I found it.
you totally deserve it! thanks for sharing the award with us and bringing us the traveling red dress 🙂
Congrats! I hope Katie Couric sent you a red dress too.
Congratulations, that’s fabulous!
And apparently last fall I was off the face of the planet, because I completely missed the traveling red dress. But it is an idea made of awesome.
Awesome! Love that you won an award that you probably had no clue of it’s existence. THAT. TAKES. TALENT.
In all seriousness, Congratulations Jenny. You deserve to be recognized for all that you do.
You had me at Bad Ass Motherfucker!
Congrats…and yes, this is my shameless attempt at “random winning”
Bad Ass Mother Fucker Award is going at the top of my resume!
Congrats, Jenny! The red dress sounds super fantastic!
I check your blog constantly, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read “Lets Pretend This Never Happened” its helped me get by so many times. I have many anxiety issues as well, and sometimes it just helps to read from someone who not only understands, but relates.
Of course you won, it’s your destiny. As is mine to wear red.
Oh THANK YOU I’ve been waiting for a Badass Motherfucker award for YEARS now!
The unicorn would win… because the unicorn is the most badass motherfucker of all creatures.
Also, I’m glad we all won. This is a perpetual cycle of awesomeness. You give us something for our brains to cling onto and absorb and enjoy and we give feedback for your brain to sort out. It makes sense that everyone is a winner.
Congratulations!!
Now that you’re all big time and stuff, with your fancy awards, good on you for remembering the little people!
Congratulations!! How did they notify you? To be winning the same award as the BBC’s “Face of Suffering in Pakistan” is huge! Hunter S Thomcat must have some serious media pull. 😀
That said, I wasn’t even aware Amazon sold dresses. I shouldn’t be surprised because you can order pretty much everything else there, but dresses never occurred to me. Please jot me down as a contestant in your dress giveaway. Also, will you perhaps volunteer to be my personal shopper? After all, you know where to find everything and you have impeccable taste.
red is the best color for a dress 😀
And as I saved my copy of my wonderful BAM award, I noticed that the curly letters make it look like it reads “MotherEucker Award,” which only adds to its awesomeness, somehow…
Congrats on the award! That segment was brilliant, and deserves to have won!
I am 60 years old and have never worn red! In fact I have never owned a gown. It is fucking time.
Unicorns would win against zombies… they’re faster and they have a horn. Built in stabbings!
Congrats on the award. You’re hysterical!
Congrats! Also, this redhead totally needs a red dress!
Awards are lovely, aren’t they? Congrats!
Red is my favourite colour. Oh, and thank you for blogging. Your writing has helped me understand my husband’s depression.
I would love a red evening dress! mostly because I could donate it 🙂 i love love love red, and we need to share the love! 🙂
yay for traveling red dress!! I’m glad that something so positive was recognized, well deserved!
This girl needs a red dress! Congrats on the award!
Fantastic! Congratulations! You so deserve the accolades. Your blog is so funny, inspiring, magical, touching, educational, and many other positive adjectives. I look forward to reading it always. The red dress idea is so powerful too and many women can truly benefit from this idea.
Screw the LBD. Every woman should have a LRD! 🙂
Congratulations. You are a real actual superhero. Your daughter is lucky to have you!!!
Congrats!!!
Give that cat a raise because apparently his PR campaign worked!
You kick some serious ass, honey! And send me one of those red dresses while you are at it!
Congrats! Recognition is a baffling thing but if anyone attracts baffling things it’s totally you, so good job.
Congratulations to you and ALL of us bad asses! Thanks so much for sharing.
I’d like to thank my new husband (of only about 6 weeks), Roosevelt, and my daughter, Whitney. I really couldn’t have done it without your support. Cheers!
I LOVE the traveling red dress. Pick me, Pick me! 🙂 XOXOXO Thank you for sharing your stories with the world.
Well done! Love Katie, Love You, love The Traveling Red Dress.
And – thanks for the award – I always wanted something to hang up at work confirming that I am indeed a badass mofo!
I am happier about the world because you’re in it. I wish I knew you IRL so we could go get a drink now and then, and maybe buy huge metal chickens. You rock, Jenny. Keep on being a badass motherfucker.
What a beautiful award that is that you’ve given us! I love the idea of the red dress and what it means. Keep on keepin’ on 😉
Guess what’s going on my resume now?
I would love to be considered for a red dress. Life has been kicking my a$$ lately.
I am totally rocking my “Badass Motherfucker” award, thank you!
I want a red dress!
Yay all of us for the award!
I have learned so much about myself in the past year and what a strong badass woman I really am! I love to read about every one else’s experiences on here too! None of us are alone!
Thank you for all you do. You are good people!
Yaaaay! Congratulations!
You (and your cat) are pretty amazing! 😉
I’d like to thank the Academy of Badass Motherfuckers for this award…
Yay, very cool.
I’m wondering what Hunter S. Thomcat earned. 🙂
I have a red dress somewhere around, and maybe it’s time to dig it out of the closet and pass it along to someone else. Of course, I wouldn’t mind getting a new red dress to replace it!
I have never had a red dress and would love to be the Matrix changing force! Thank you for your memoir and honesty.
Jenni, you inspire me, encourage me, make me cry, and make me laugh harder than I ever have in my life. Even if I don’t win a dress, I just want you to know that I want to be you when I grow up. I found your blog when I was going through the most devastating time in my life, and reading your posts never fails to lift my spirit. You’re a bright and shining light in this world.
Dude, That’s a lot of comments! And, I’m with Abby, hunter s. Thomcat needs an award!
The other day a friend and I were on a road trip, discussing the best books we’ve read/listened to lately. My friend said she had just finished one that made her laugh and laugh. We simultaneously said, “It was “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened,” and started screaming with laughter. Then we missed the turn onto the interstate and ended up 10 miles off course. At night. In the middle of nowhere. It worked out.
Since my little sister shot down every dress that I wanted for her wedding, I feel like this would be a good opportunity to pull the rug out from under her. 😉
Also, congrats! <3
Thank you for helping give a positive voice about owning your life and the struggle of living with a mental illness like depression an anxiety. Congrats!
That’s lovely all around. Every red dress story is a treasure.
Congrats on your award! I really love your blog and I think you are hilarious. Can’t wait for the last Halloween post!
Just found your book and blog. Where have you been all my life!?
I would LOVE a red gown. My self esteem is in the shitter right now and I need a tangible reminder of AWESOME!! 🙂 Then…it goes on the road!
Congratulations! You bring so much laughter to us all! You also empower me to just be me without apology. Thank you for being awesome!
With 3 Christmas parties this year, I could always use another dress!!! Thanks!!!
Congrats. Also, would love to see Hunter Tomcat in a red dress. That will show him for trying to upstage you.
Oooh. I hope I win. I need something wonderful.
Congrats on the award and thank you for sharing it with your readers! We all deserve it. I guess.
Congrats on winning an award! That is beyond cool.
And sharing red gowns with people sounds amazing! Thank you for being awesome (as always)!
In twenty minutes I turn 43. 42 may be the meaning of life, etc but it kind of sucked as an age. I think this almost 43 year old deserves a bad ass mother fucker award for making it thru this year, so thank you for that.
Congrats! And my husband and I agree that Unicorns have an advantage over zombies.
Congrats on the big win. But shouldn’t you be giving the award to Hunter instead of us? Or is that just assumed that you and he will share your part in the non-existent award? My cat deserves an award too, but just for being awesome and appropriately named (Luna Lovegood…so awesome, but kinda batty).
Well, I can say that “First Annual” is definitely used frequently in giving out awards when the award presentation is expected to be an annual thing. I work in an award shop and I’ve definitely done quite a few first annual awards, as well as second, third, fourth, twentieth, etc…
Congratulations!
I want to enter to win a red dress too. Doing your red dress project with my sisters is on my bucket list.
bleep boop random comment bleeeeep blerzzzz
Woo! Red dresses!
I am totally adding this award to my resume.
I wish to thank the Academy for this award……and props to you for sharing it with us! It means a lot to all of us to ride around on your coattails, and now we all get to be Bad-Ass Motherfuckers. Yay! But we couldn’t do it without you!! 🙂
I always knew I was a badass motherfucker, but it’s nice to be recognized for it. Finally. Jeez.
Oh, me me me! I am the single mother to three little boys (ages 5 and under) and I need a red evening gown like I need a puppy, but I want one anyway. 🙂
Congrats to you my dear! And a hearty “Brava!” to H.S.T.
Jenny, you kick so much butt it’s not even funny. Okay, it’s actually really funny.
Everyone looks good in a red evening gown!
That’s so awesome! Congratulations!
Also, thank you for the award because dammit, I’m awesome and I deserve one. 😉
I’d love to enter to win a red dress, especially since I’m coming up on the first year anniversary of my mom’s passing and I seem to be taking it pretty hard. :/
Congrats! That’s wonderful!
Oh my god, I love you and I’m so glad they recognised how awesome your piece was!
Also, of course, awesomest award ever.
On an unrelated note, did you know you are on hulu (sort of?) I searched for your name to see if I could find the interview there and there is a link to cnn with you on the ‘mom wars’ back in April of 2012.
Congrats on the win, y’all! You NEED to send a red dress to the serial killer capital of the world. Or a white dress and we can take it from there colour wise 😉
I always knew I was a BAM! Thanks for the official recognition 🙂
Congrats from one Jenny to another. I would love to win a pretty red dress! ps. LOVED your book. Read it in one day.
Congratulations on the award.
I will submit this entry not for myself, because men do not receive Awesome Red Dresses, but for my wife, a longsuffering civil servant with twenty years experience of doing the impossible for the ungrateful, immediately, with nothing, to perfection. She struggles with depression as well, although she has some awesome tools to combat it with, both chemical and cognitive. I think it would mean a lot to her.
To augment her merit, I should note that she has to put with, and shower with, yours so truly, every day.
Thank you.
I totally want a red evening gown, and enjoy your award!
Woohoo! Congratulations Jenny!
Congrats on the award! I totally think you deserve it. You have helped so many people by sharing your struggles, something that I know is incredibly hard. You started a revolution with your red dress! I mean c’mon ya’ll how many people can say that! And you have made millions, me included, laugh and feel better. Thank you!
Congratulations to us all!
Congratulations! I would love to have a red evening gown. Thanks!
I have just recently started dressing how I want, such as actually wearing dresses and skirts and pretty tops, and it would really, really mean a lot to me to have a beautiful gown in what just happens to be my favorite color. Thanks for the award, I give it back to you now, because I am fully aware that I am a Bada*s MotherF*cker I want you to always know that you are one as well.
I love your blog. I read it to my husband and sometimes to my grandson, who lives with us. It’s the one thing in the day that I know will make me laugh. I’m 65, with heart problems, a 91 year old Obsessive Compulsive mother to care for, am overweight and I have no breasts. The worse part of that is, how can you ever look good dressed in a red dress? You can’t buy one without straps, my phony chest is in a strapped bra. I miss feeling feminine and pretty. But, you make me smile and feel good every morning.
I already know I’m a bad assed mofo. But I would be so much badder assed if I had a red dress.
WOW, yay! That BAMF award will look great on the wall next to my DAM (Doctorate of Accordion Ministry) Degree.
I’ve been reading for a while, bought your book and laughed my way through most of it (thank you!). I know where you’re coming from with the RA, and consider us Sisters in Simponi (SiS for short, of course). While I would love to have a dress, I don’t think I’d look very good in it, as I’m a big girl with too many curves. However, if by some fluke you picked me for a dress, give the gift card to Tracy Gaydos, commentor #1286. She rescues dogs, reads, and is a geek. Sounds to me like she would be perfect. 🙂 I like to think that I pull off BAMF pretty well, but there are definitely others who do it better. They definitely deserve the award, as much as you do, sweets. Kudos!
I love awards like this…they won’t crowd your shelf, taking up the room for the Pulitzer Prizes they keep forgetting to give you (but will someday remember, so you’ll want that space). Go you!
I’ve been unemployed since June, and last week I had a down week, where I cried at the drop of the hat. I’m not a social person, so basically I spend time in my house. What got me through was thinking about your inspiration and how you are still awesome and suffer from the same demons we all have.
I’m a BAMF and so are you! Thank you! I accept this award proudly and will put it on my shelf next to your book. The dress would really help me feel confident like maybe I really will get a job and not just sit here watching reruns of Friends all day. They don’t pay you to do that!
Finally! I can have initials at the end of my name… Liz B BMFA, MD, PHD.
You ARE good at it!!!
Your award sounds more prestigious to me.
Congratulations, you bad ass motherfucker.
Congrats in the award and thanks for sharing it. Way better than sharing a disease…
You are a bad ass motherfucker. And that’s my favorite award ever. I’d also love a red dress 🙂
Congrats on the award!
How delightful!
You are awesome!!!! Congrats!!!
Congrats to you and Hunter S. Thomcat!
I love the Red Dress project and all it stands for. We need more supports like this for women, more reminders to love ourselves and be bold & strong.
Oh, Jenny Lawson! I love you even though we have never met. You inspire me with your awesome imperfections and humor. Thank you for making us all BAMF! oxoxo
I love you guys. Three gift cards are whirling away toward lucky people as we speak. Thanks so much for making this project so amazing.
That’s fabulous even better when cats hog the limelight, because when don’t they?
Huzzah! Nicely done 😀
That is so amazing!!! Tho you know Katie is going to hog that thing for all it’s worth.
and seriously i could use some red dress magic right now. really really. Depression does lie, but dammit the fight against her is just getting harder and harder.
Congrats! Your blog is my daily proof that one can have “issues” yet still get things accomplished, and when I get rejection letter after rejection letter, I think about how you’ve worked on so many of your own demons and have overcome, or at least beaten back, enough to be productive and awesome.
BTW, I’ve never owned a red dress.
It is fucking funny how I sit here with my Phablet and once again find myself in one of those peculiar corners of cyberspace that I may never escape. I started at the limp unicorn hair and now I am here. Congratulations on your award! Your site is the most uplifting and hysterically funny site I have ever stumbled upon! I have been stuck here for over 3 hours (SO FAR). Your audience is nearly as comical as you and truly deserves the credit you are giving them. Your popularity should soon exceed Oprah and you will be able to give red dresses to the ENTIRE audience. (p.s. Dont send me one. I look like shit in a dress.)
I want in. This is my comment.
Yay!!! Congrats on the award!
Your blog is one of the best things in the world.
Yay – I <3 awards and red dresses!
Congrats on our awards!!
I am getting a female black and white moustached kitten and need an extremely witty name. I was thinking Frida Kahlo.
1. Congratulations.
2. Hunter S. Thomcat is awesome; I wouldn’t begrudge him the limelight.
3. I’d love a red dress.
4. You’re my hero.
Congrats!
So excellent! This place makes my day and makes me feel less alone when I feel like Im the only one out here! Y’all rule!
I’ve never owned a red dress. Back when I was a teenager I was slim enough to pull off everything, but people in my school were bullying me and I only wore grey and black clothes to make myself invisible. When I graduated and went to university, I didn’t have any money to spend on funky clothing, so I still wore the blacks and greys from my youth although my self esteem gradually built up. Also, I wasn’t used to color and therefore never bought any colorful clothes. Then I lost myself in depression and a burn out I grew fat (or chubby, or whatever you want to call it) and there went my self esteem again, so I wouldn’t have been caught dead in anything but blacks and greys (AGAIN).
Now I’m still far from slim, but while I still struggle with my burn-out my depression is much better, and my self esteem issues made room for a “fuck you all, if you don’t like my look, don’t look” attitude, but now I have two kids and no steady job and am money-less again.
I quit facebook two years ago because it nourished my depression (and kept me doing nothing on my couch), so I can’t look there.
I would love to win a red dress. But so would many others, and I’m sure all of them have a good reason why they could use one.
Anyways, thank you for being you, with all your courage and honesty and awesomeness! You totally deserve that award!
Congrats! I have always been afraid of wearning red but you have inspired me to go out and buy a red dress! i love reading your blog and I love how you inspire people to not be afraid! The world is a better place beacause or you!
Most excellent! You are an amazing and hilarious woman!
Congratulations! A nod to Hunter S for his contribution.
Yay! Congrats! You deserve it 😉
Your blog always make me smile. Except for when it makes me cry, but I’m usually crying because I feel like you and all these people sort of get me. So thanks for that, and congratulations!
Yay! Go Jenny!! (Actually, when I typed that in, Autocorrect changed it to Ho, Jenny so I’m pretty sure it tried to insult you but since I changed it, it’s attempt failed. Muahaha)
(Also, the other day I was trying to type GEESH to my mom and it kept changing it to geese like 7 times and my moms like “I don’t want any geese” which is just ridiculous in itself because, really who doesn’t want a goose?)
1st annual can be retroactively accurate – you’re just a year early.
Unicorns would win. They are immune to poison, and those horns are wicked sharp.
I love that dress, and I would love to win one! Sadly, I’m a plus size lady, and it doesn’t come in my size. *sad face*
Please pick me! <3
There can never be too many red dresses in the world.
You are fantabulous, Jenny. Many greetings from Estonia!
I love you and I’d love a red dress!!!!!
Congrats on the award!
And zombies would totally win. Why? I’m glad you asked. Look, unicorns would put up a pretty good fight. But even if they were clever enough to use their one horn to stab a zombie through the head, they’d have a zombie stuck to their forehead, which could potentially block a great deal of their vision. That puts the unicorn at a huge disadvantage. One unicorn can take out one zombie, but what if there’s a herd coming? The unicorn doesn’t know where the attacks are coming from anymore. And now a herd of zombies is sucking down silver blood for dinner.
Excellent! You are more important than you may ever realize. So many of us have been helped by your writing.
congrats! red dress! want to give one to my sister!!!
This bad ass mother fucker needs a red dress! I know a couple other women who could use it before we passed it on. 🙂
I want in!!! I SO need a red dress! Congrats on the award. HST did his job, looking all handsome and shit… Oh, and pick me!!! If you did, you’d be the bees knees!
I would love to have a red dress to celebrate the new chapter in my life; I call it chapter three. I have recently separated after almost 33 years of marriage, and am getting acquainted with me for the first time. Today I even overcame a lifelong phobia and killed a snake that was coming in my garage. It was a real Towanda moment. My daughter is also expecting my first grandbaby, so I have much to celebrate. A new me, a new baby, a new beginning and a red dress would make it all complete!
If you haven’t already given away the red dresses, count me in! I’m behind on my blog reading. And you totally deserve all the awards in the whole entire world. So there.
I think I’m turning into a crazy old lady. Rats.
Congrats! And I love the idea of a bad-ass motherfucker award. But you do need to have it every year because it’s so, well, bad-ass awesome.
You freaking rock. we freaking rock. Basically it is just a big ol’ rockfest and you are the Queen! (and red dresses are awesome)
Oh Jenny, you rock! I’ll have you know that I immediately put on my tiara, grabbed my scepter and am floating through the house with my award! Our three cats Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall & Katharine Hepburn are in awe of me. (They are my “loyal subjects”)
I have a pinterest board dedicated to you and red dresses. I love the whole idea!
Oh yeah, BAMF Award! Feel like we should fist bump now but that might be a little too street.
Congrats on the award, so glad it’s for the segment on the travelling red dress as well!!
Cheers to you, Hunter, and red dresses!
Love it! Can I win a red dress if I’m from Canada? I could totally wear it with a maple leaf fascinator… Or… does anyone know where I can get a small stuffed beaver as a hat? (Scared to google it…)
yay! congrats to us all! and woo red dresses!
I’d LOVE a red dress! I’m so neck deep in crazy around here that I need one! And I’d love to blog about the experience. Super cool!
OK, so all I can think about is Samuel L Jackson presenting this award.
I sometimes feel like I’m too broken to be loved, but then I read your blog and it reminds me that we’re all a little broken and we still deserve the best for ourselves.
Hi Jenny! I work for a dress importer and I’d love to have my company donate some “red dresses+ for you to give away. email me and we can work out a way for you to get the dresses!
I keep saying I am going to do the red dress. I need to do the red dress. I swear the red dress is magical. I bet it would give my mom some lucid non-Alzheimers moments, and that would give me some joy.
Love your website and the words you speak! Thanks for daring greatly!
WOOOOHOOOO!
I think you’re amazing & I love your red-dress project. I’d love to be able to get a red dress for myself. Then, thanks to my Rosacea, I can look like a giant flaming ball of tulle.
Oh, me me me!!! Oh, please me. Nothing is ever ‘me’. Not around here.
I would like to thank my mother, my father, the United Nations…Wait, what? I haven’t won yet? How is that possible–I am *definitely* one bad-ass motherfucker!
But I want a red dress NOWWwwwww (said a la Veruca Salt)
I love the idea of the travelling red dress.
Well done to you, Jenny, to Hunter S. Thomcat and to everyone!
YAY, AWARDS!
I would absolutely love love love to get a red dress. It’s been a hell of a month peppered with panic attacks and super stress. Being able to weatr a red dress and share forward the magic would be…well, magical.
On a side note, THANK YOU for being you. Reading about your life makes me feel not quite so alone. Even though I sometimes feel strange for having a blog mean so much to me…it really does. Thanks for sharing all that you do, it and soooo many others! Keep being awesome!! <3
I want in! Yay!
Congratulations! That’s fantastic!
Congratulations!!! You should win EVERYTHING…like literally the world. You make me smile and giggle…and be very inappropriate at work 😀
I would love to join the red dress crew!!
I’m so in for the dress!
The next time the depression/anxiety monster rears it’s ugly head you remind it that everytime it leaves you alone for a few hours you create something awesome or win an awesome award!! You are such an inspiration!
I’m saving for my red dress, but my contribution to my circle of girls has been the wedding box. I got married first & saved everything that could be reused (including the dress) and put it in a giant tote & gave it to the next friend in line to use for her wedding. She added to it and it’s currently helping with its third wedding. It’s fun to help!
So glad your genius is finally being recognised. I am feeling hopeful that the awesome award you gave me will distract future employers from the fact I have been at home with my daughter for nearly four years!
Congrats!! That is wonderful 🙂 And yay red dresses! I would wear the shit out of that thing. 😉
Congratulations!
Awesome news! congrats to you and to Hunter S. Thompson!
Have you considered renting Hunter S. Thomcat out? Because I would totally host him here in the Midwest for like a week. He can be the first feline exchange student. If that’s no t in the works yet, I’d love to wear a red dress once….never had a wedding dress and the last fancy dress I wore was over 20 years ago to a Homecoming dance (and that split ALL THE WAY UP THE BACK….long story…so it was quite the disaster)
A red dress would be fabulous! Ive been reading your blog since i got depressed following a break-up… That was almost three years ago.
Wow, Congrats! I’ve never left a comment before (I’m a creeper) but I totally want in on the red dress opportunity! I’ve had a real craptastic year, the best way to get ready for a new year would be in a fabulous red dress!
I’m in for the dress! Red is the color used in Chinese weddings for luck, prosperity, happiness, all the good stuff (and warding off evil spirits). Applies to regular, every day life too.
I love my certificate. I would totally hang it on my wall if it was more work appropriate … maybe I’ll keep it in my desk drawer to peek at when I need it.
Congratulations!
Red dresses are the best!
I bet Hunter S. Tomcat is very proud! 😉
Congrats! And I want in 🙂
I’d like to think this non-existent award is so huge it won’t fit on any of your shelves.
I’d like to think this non-existent award is so huge it won’t fit on any of your shelves.
First off, that is totally awesome, yay for awards! Second, I just moved into a new, customer service oriented job that reminds me of the ridiculous stories from your HR adventures (I think one gentleman was trying to initiate phone sex with me… maybe gentleman is too strong a word). I would love a red dress moment right about now, I’m totally in!
Congrats on your award…… AND for being a badass motherfucker!
Yay Hunter S Tomcat!! (Well and you haha) I totally want in on the red dress giveaway! Plus I just found out I’m 39 and preggers which would mean if I got a dress you would get credit for giving a dress to two people instead of one . . . haha!
And I didn’t have a speech prepared, but let me thank…
Congrats on your award and thank you for the award that you created especially for us. You ROCK Jenny! I’ve never had a red dress and I don’t own a “fancy” dress so I would love to win a red dress that I could pass on to others.
Well now you are REALLY hoity-toity! Congratulations!!! I’d love a red dress.
YAY FOR YOUR AWARD! I would love in on this dress giveaway. =)
YAHOOOO!! Congratulations!!!!!
“I’ve got a beautiful red dress, and you’d look really good standing beside it…” (Laurie Anderson)
Congratulations to you!! 🙂
Congrats on the awesome award!
Red dresses for everyone! Even Hunter S Tomcat the show stealer.
Congrats!! I love the red evening gowns 🙂
OMG JENNY!! HOW DO YOU ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH??
Unicorns would totally win that fight. EVERYONE knows they poop rainbows, which could turn those zombies into garden gnomes. Plus, if all else fails they could just “Stick them with the pointy end”…
Winning feels great!
Awesome! Congrats! You truly deserve it – and real awards you can hold too!
Aw, yay Jenny! Your BAMFitude clearly won them over. And rightly so!
I’d like to thank everyone who helped me win this award…
🙂
Congrats!
Congrats! I can’t wait to tell my kids that I am one Badass MoFo.
Congratulations to us all!!! I am pleased to accept this award. It feels heavy. 😉
Congratulations! A Red Dress would totally rock my tiara!
@Erin (1864) — I suspect it’s made out of heavy metal. 😉
Hey New England…. Let’s plan ahead for next spring, and plan an afternoon to ride Hartford’s Bushnell Park Carousel in red dresses!
(Technically my red dress is maroon….but when I got it, I didn’t realize it had such extravagant cleavage. I never felt so voluptuous in my life as I did wearing that to a family wedding.)
I just moved to a new state and I know NO ONE and have NO REASON to wear a red evening gown. Which means if I win, I will be wearing it to my desk job. That might actually be kind of funny.
Congrats on the award! You deserve it. I’m drinking coffee from my stabby mug even as I type. A red dress of awesomeness would be a kick-ass accompaniment, with a light dusting of corgi fur.
I’ve never won an award before! I’d like to thank this opportunity to thank my agent and my parents and, of course, the academy. Or whoever it is who votes on the Exceptional Merit in Media Award.
Congrats! I would love my very own red dress.
I want a dressss. (please)
GIVE DRESS ME
(poor grammar and a greedy bitch to boot.)
P.S. Congratulations. you deserve more than you’ll ever begin to know, Jenny Lawson.
Congratulations, Jenny! That’s awesome!! Reading your blog is my treat after I put my kids to bed. Your humour, warmth and intelligence make you a true bad ass not to be reckoned with!!! Plus, you and Victor might be my favourite couple – such a love story!
Congats Lady! What a wonderful way to celebrate!
Congrats! I have nothing witty to say but must share a link where you are credited:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/signs-your-cat-actually-owns-you
I could really really use something good after the last few weeks I’ve had. Pick me pick me!
Love it! Congrats
Congrats on the award! I don’t really care about grammar so feel free to use it as you wish!
Congrats to you Jenny! And to everyone!I really hope that those who win enjoy their dresses. I would definitely choose to wear it for when I try and surprise my boyfriend for Christmas. He lives 800miles away and we go back and forth. I’m trying to arrange to surprise him and I think the dress would be icing on the cake. I’ve heard lots of other amazing stories from others above me. One lady said she’s had a really rough month and that it would just make her so happy. I hope she wins. I love that this is even real. The red dress project is incredible. I’m thinking about donating my old prom dresses to operation princess for girls who can’t afford prom dresses. Pay it forward.
Congrats! <3
Uh-huh! 1st Annual is TOO a thing because it shows that you expect to do it again. It’s called planning, slackers! If I were you, I’d go ahead and put the 2nd Annual one on the calendar – every calendar! But if you were me, you’d lose them all waaaay before next year. May I suggest a tattoo? How about on VIctor’s forehead, where you’ll see it? He’s cool like that, right?!
Thank you very much, I totally needed this to back up myself when I already knew I was a bad ass mother fucker!!! And I am too tired being such a bad ass that I don’t care about grammar. And really only my logic counts anyway. Well I sound impressed w/myself today, I just had my gallbladder out a few days ago and I’m sure it’s the drugs talking!!!!
Awesome! That IS a pretty swanky sounding award.
Congratulations, Jenny (and all you others) – I hope you’re as proud of yourself as we are. :o)
I still very much remember that picture of Hunter zonked on the chair.
I’ve meant to add a comment for the past several days and kept forgetting to. I don’t know if there’s deadlines for comments. But your posts always make me smile so much, so you’re definitely deserving of all awards, real and imaginary.
Congrats!!!! This is awesome!!
Pick me and I’ll send you some of the bacon-onion jam my husband made today. 🙂
Awesome!
Winning a BA MOFO award had been a life long dream of mine…
I can’t believe I won an award with Jenny Lawson! This is so unexpected, I didn’t even prepare a speech! I’d like to thank the academy, my family, God, my BFF Jenny, and are those drinks free?
I would ADORE a travelling red dress to make my life more interesting?
That’s amazing! You’re a huge inspiration to me. I’m one of your younger readers (18-year-old-pipsqueak) but I’ve been reading your blog since I was fifteen. My mother has been terribly lonely driving back and forth three hours a day just to bring my little sister to a fancy arts school where she won’t get bullied. I introduced her to your audiobook, and she’d listen to it in the car every day. She referred to you as her “good friend, Jenny,” because the audiobook made it feel like she had a friend in the car with her, telling her funny stories.
I send you all her love!
Any award — from a piece of paper to a leg lamp — is great!
Wow, I LITERALLY only just realised from this post that a) BAMF is an acronym and b) that it is an acronym that stands for Bad Ass Mother Fucker. This is a turning point in my life.
Also, CONGRATULATIONS!! 😀
What a great gesture–and congratulations!
Congrats for having an attention stealing cat. I know that feel.
(Also, congrats!)
Woohoo congrats! This is awesome. xoxo
You’re awesome. Love reading your blog.
I want in please! Love your blog!
I want in, please! Love your blog!
oooh yes! Go you for winning.
It’s just more love that you deserve! And red rocks!
Congrats! I want a red dresss!
I would LOVE a red dress!!! and I would love to share it with the people in my life that i know need one!!! Congratulations Jenny!!!
Congratulations 🙂
I approve of this award. I love the Red Dress idea, I think you have brought so much beauty to those that never knew they had it.
Aw, congratulations for the award. Would love a red dress but on the plus-size these days. I met my spouse wearing a short red dress and high red heels – he wasn’t wearing them, I was, but he remembers the day fondly.
I totally love this. All of it. That your segment won an award, that Hunter S. Tomcat stole the show (don’t cats always? I just had some pictures taken and my were all over the place) and the idea of the 1st annual BAMF awards. Fantastic 🙂
Any award is exciting, especially awesome, really well-deserved ones. Hooray for you!
I would love to bring Travelling Red Dress down under!!! I’m in New Zealand and it woul dbe fantastic to start it off here!
Nice!
What would be better than a candy bowl of prozac?? A red dress to enjoy it in!! Happy Halloween!
Thank you for my badass (which auto correct tried to change to Nasdaq) motherfucker award. I really needed it tonight after throwing up, having body aches, and thinking I might need to go to the ER for my acid reflux, all as a result of the stress I’m under from work…
The fact that it’s red just makes it even better because WINE!
One of my bestest, bestests could really use a red dress right now. She had open-heart surgery in September and had an LVAD implanted. It’s a terrible (wonderful) machine that keeps her heart pumping, so she can get healthy enough for a transplant. The machine goes in the heart. Battery and computer on the outside. This means her life depends on her wearing a fanny pack. HOT. Oh yeah, she’s 32. She’s being awesome and blogging about her experience – http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/heartbites/journal and also, here -http://theheartbitesblog.tumblr.com/
Anyway, back to the red dress. She got married back in September in a tiny, little courthouse wedding, and she wanted this red dress for her wedding dress – http://www.verawang.com/EN/wedding/bridal-collection/spring-2013/1315-kirsten-7. But it as turns out, we’re poor, and food and housing and medical stuff seemed more important. She got married in a t-shirt, jeans, and a fanny pack (although, I have to say, it was a very stylish-leather one). And it was a beautiful wedding because she is in love and has people who love her and she could stand long enough to do it, but damnit, if anyone needs a red dress right now, it’s her.
Very proud of you! 🙂
How cool are you?! Congratulations on your award!
I am very happy for your segment! That sounds like I should be talking to a centipede or something. But I’m sure you understand because your brain is just weird like mine. So Congrats to you and Hunter S Thomcat! (Oh, and Katie too, I suppose!)
YAY awards! Go you, go us, go everyone! For the win!
I just printed my own “Bad Ass MoFo” certificate and presented it to myself. I needed the reminder. The awards ceremony was rad and I served office coffee at the post-ceremony mingler.
This is the best award I’ve ever not gotten! Yay for us!
Congrats on the award and thank you for sharing!
Congrats!!!
Congratulations! It’s been an honor to have a tiny bit of the Red Dress project. Thank you for being the instigator. 😉
You’re awesome 🙂
Congratulations!
Congrats! Awards are always awesome to win. It’s like someone giving you a stuffed-toy pony.
Throwing in my penny to the red-dress-raffle. Slowly taking control of my anxiety, and a wonderful red dress would be amazing now. I have talked to three strangers this week without getting panic attacks. I’m also a university student who has hit the brick wall, so to speak educationally, which does not help the depression. A red dress would be so amazing right now. So amazing.
And I will take my badass motherfucker award, frame it, and hang it on my motherfucking wall. I’ve made it almost a year, y’all. Someday the depression will lift fully, the anxiety will go away, but for now, I’ll take my framed Badass Motherfucker award and remind myself that depression lies, and that I am a badass. Even when I don’t feel like one, I am. Thanks for helping me remember.
Thanks for helping us all to hang in here!!
Congrats on the award! and YOU are awesome! I have always loved the red dress thing you do, it just makes me so happy to know that women everywhere are feeling loved and special and beautiful. I have nothing really life-changing going on right now except for dealing with teenagers, which is frankly kicking my ass and making me question every single parenting decision I ever made when they were young’uns. I also look kick-ass in red. thanks for doing this!
My version of the red dress is a peacock print dress. It is me, emerging from a world of black clothing and no confidence. I feel the very best version of me in that dress. Flaunt your plumage!
Congratulations!
Damn! Check out of reality for a few days due to drama and I miss my chance to win a red dress! A friend and I are planning to do a red dress photo shout in a cemetery – she writes and edits horror for a living so it seems like a good time!
This is epic! Congrats on the award. I need a red dress. 🙂
Congratulations on the award!!!! The Red Dress idea was an amazing one, and totally deserves all the recognition it gets!
Awesome job! Congrats!
The world definitely needs more bad-ass motherfuckers in red dresses. I’m gonna need one large enough to cover my fat bad-ass ass.
The heartiest of congrats to you, Jenny!!!
Next up, Pulitzer Prize! Congratulations! I will wear the red dress to your next medal ceremony!
Congratulations! That’s awesome 🙂
Congratulations! That’s awesome!
We always had faith in ya! I’m in for the red dress please!
It is because of this blog that I opted to wear a red ball gown to my husband’s Marine Corp ball last year.
I always opted for black in the past, because I wanted to blend in, for fear of being judged (I too suffer with anxiety/depression/EVERYTHING).
However, thanks to your movement, I made the leap and chose a bright red dress, and I felt so damn good. I felt empowered, and alive. That feeling may have been caused by many cranberry vodka mixers, BUT…I think I owe you a huge hug and a wine slushie on me for making me feel like the strong, capable woman that I now know I am.
XOXO
Hurrah! That’s quite lovely 😀
Woohoo! That’s so cool. Congrats!
That is so wonderful! Congratulations!
I love your blog so much. I makes me smile every day! My girlfriends and I constantly make reference to you and your hijinks. We started with one copy of your book and it has been passed on to at least 10 different people, with several more buying it because we told them to (this totally makes me sound like we are some sort of book-pushers, like drug dealers, but with books and we own this town).
ANY-WAYS…… I love it, love your book, love your blog, love it all. Thank you.
You posted this like 2 weeks ago… is it too late to win? I need a sexy red dress that I can wear to the grocery store!
Congrats on the win…Do you actually get the award, or will Katie hog it all for herself?
Congratulations! 🙂 Printing my Bad-ass MoFo award to hand in the cube at work! lol.
COngratulations Jenny – I think you’re wonderful!
Ohh I could use a new dress after losing all the baby weight!
CONGRATS!
hee!
