I had a lot of anxiety talking about anxiety on a podcast about anxiety.

This is not a real post.  It’s just a quick update on three things:

1. This week I’m on The Hilarious World of Depression, which is one of my favorite podcasts ever.  I sound completely insane, but I suppose that’s to be expected.

2. As requested, the 2018 Bloggess Calendar is here if you want one.

3. I’ve gotten a ton of emails from people asking if I would personalize a book for a Christmas/Hanukkah gift so tomorrow morning I’m going to BookPeople to sign and personalize books if you want one.  Just click here and follow the directions.  They ship all over the world.  Also, they have a very limited supply of my signed Lost and Found posters that they’ll ship as well.  (I don’t know why it says “hardback” in the description for the poster.  It’s on heavy archival paper.)  I’ll sign a bunch of books so you can order signed copies whenever you want but if you want it personalized to you or to a loved one or you want me to write something special please make sure you submit that before tomorrow morning.  If they get it later you’ll still get the book but probably not until next month.

PS. I’m not actually going to be at the store.  I know sometimes people go to see me when I am but Victor’s out of town and I can’t drive in Austin traffic so a wonderful friend is bringing a carload of books and order forms to a coffee shop that we terrorize once a month.

PPS.  Yes, I totally will write “Knock Knock, Motherfucker” or draw a cat’s face in your book if you ask.

PPPS. As a Xmas/Hanukkah/Flying Spaghetti Monster thank you I’m going to give away a few copies of my books randomly in the comments.  Just tell me if you want Furiously Happy, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened or You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds and leave an email where I can contact you.

PPPPS.  Happy Hanukkah!

UPDATED: I realized that I don’t have enough time to get your addresses before tomorrow morning so instead I randomly emailed a bunch of you gift cards to buy books.  Whoop!  Check your email.  Thank God for gift cards.

  1. I heard you on “Hilarious” and it made my day. I’m glad you did not spontaneously combust. You made me want to write again.

  2. I gave my copy of Let’s Pretend away as a gift and would Love a new copy for myself 😍

  3. I need a copy of let pretend this never happened. I’ve given out sooo many copies and somehow never got mine back.❤❤❤

  4. I would love to have Furiously Happy! I already have Let’s Pretend it Never Happened and read it over and over!!! And if you could put Knock Knoc Mother Fucker in it if I’m picked, you would make my year!!! Lynae Curtis. 1302 N Vine. Hoisington KS. 67544.

  5. I would adore a copy of any of the three books, although “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” holds a special place in my heart and that of my oldest daughter. We have a crummy year and I was so happy when she enjoyed your books as much I do. With much love and a new year filled with Furious Happiness. 💙

  6. I’m bipolar and it feels like life is spinning out of control. Would love You Are Here to keep me company as I get help

  7. I”m savoring Let’s Pretend a bit every night. Bless you for making me feel relatively normal. You are a bright ray of sunshine in my often stressful days. (I’m a 3rd grade teacher trying to keep everyone sane the last few days before vacation). Furiously Happy is on deck next. I would love to receive You Are Here if possible. It would round out my vacation reading!

  8. I would love a copy of (and to be)Furiously Happy! I showered others with gifts for the past several James Garfield Miracles, so it would be nice to have a little fun surprise. Thanks for being so awesome, Jenny!

  9. I devoured Furiously Happy a few months ago and then dived into Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. It is always a gift to find your tribe out there in the world and I cannot thank you enough for sharing all of your wonderful wicked awesomeness of mental illness with the world. I adore you and all of your awkwardness!! (Furiously Happy!!!).

  10. Oooh. I’d love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened! I imagine it will make me laugh until I cry like Furiously Happy did. Heck even your tweets have made me laugh inappropriately in public. Bit embarrassing really.

  11. Not related to anything, but I’m currently in the second week of a mind bendingly, suicide enticing attack of Trigeminal Neuralgia. So, far my doc upped my tegretol dosage and added percocet. It takes the pain level down to about 7 from 10. I’ve tried the epsom salt remedy and it’s actually not bad. However, I really want to be able to go back to work (I’m a tutor. kinda need to be able to talk) and I would really love to eat solid food (not broth) again. Anyone else suffer from TN and has some tried and true relief, I would love to hear about it.

  12. I would love either of your books, if you happen to have an extra. Your posts make my day, and I love my coloring book!

  13. “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” got me thru a 2 week vacation with my in-laws. I would love to read “You are Here, An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds.” (and please sign Knock Knock Mother fucker!) that random statement made me laugh out loud at work.

  14. I listened to the podcast this morning, and it was so wonderfully perfectly you! Great job.

I have also gone down a horrifying thought spiral after spilling just the tiniest bit of gas, I identified with that hard.core.

  15. Let’s pretend this never happened. I have the other 2.it will complete my collection. I listened to the audio version and fell in love with the Ritz cracker box story.

  16. Happy Chanukah from this Jewish follower!! I’d love to get any of your books honestly. I don’t own any of them so if you magically pick me I’d love to start at the beginning with Furiously Happy.

  17. You are here. But I’m not picky. I love and would appreciate any of them! Even more if it said “knock, knock motherfucker!” 🤣(Eih831@gmail.com)

  18. Yes, please; I would love, love, LOVE a copy of “You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds,” if I am lucky enough to be chosen. Thanks for the opportunity!

  19. Furiously Happy, because it made me furiously happy. I laughed until I cried (and I think I peed a little too.)

  20. I would love Let’s Pretend this Never Happened! It’s the only one I don’t already own, though I did read it though the library 😉

  21. Ohhhh! I would be LOVING a copy of Furiously Happy! I am at zooheather1atgmail.com

I have never been to Austin, but if it is anything like Nashville traffic, coffee shop is a far better option.

If someone ordered a copy of your coloring book for, say, a sister, would one of your cats consent to putting a butt print on it? Asking for a friend.

  22. Furiously Happy might help me salvage this month. It might not, but at this point, I’m willing to try anything. xoxo

  23. Hi Jenny,
It would mean worlds to me and my daughter and be one of the best fixed points in time ( a Dr. Who reference;)
If I could have a signed copy of You Are Here. With whatever delightful inscription you choose. Your books have
brought us so much sunshine this year. Thank you for considering me! I would love to own them all but our closest
store always sells out of your work.
    jdiehlund@gmail.com

  24. You are here &c. LOVED hearing you on the hilarious depression podcast (and the holiday coping special). Best wishes to you & your family for a peaceful holiday season.

  25. Oh my goodness. I have been searching for a hard cover Let’s Pretend.. for awhile. I loved it so much much that I shared my copy with my cousin and asked her to pass it along to someone else who would like it. I hope it’s still floating around out there – but I miss having a copy for myself. I keep checking used book stores (a la the movie Serendipity) but they never have it. They disappear as soon as they arrive. If you have one to spare, it would be such a unicorn magical treat!

  26. My favorite is “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened” but I love all of your books. Thank you for all you do to make life better.

  27. I would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened(demoncatch@gmail.com)

I also don’t like to drive in the city, but I also don’t like the burbs. It’s a problem.

  28. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened is the only one I don’t have yet. I love to read passages to my kid which laughing like crazy and wiping away tears. It helps!

  29. If you’re signing the ones you’re gifting, I’d love a signed copy of Furiously Happy. I could then feel okay about sharing my unsigned copy, which I have thus far guarded with my life. If you’re not signing them, then you can pass me by, because I have all of your books (two copies of You Are Here, in fact). I thought you sounded great on the podcast, BTW; I was interviewed for a miscarriage podcast, my first in-depth interview ever, earlier this year and it was nerve-wracking as fuck. I had to take a full antipanic pill ahead of time because I am notorious for talking faster and faster when I get nervous and I wanted to sound intelligible as well as intelligent! (I run a website for a rare miscarriage condition.)

  30. You Are Here is the only one I don’t have. (evadarcy@yahoo.com.au)

I found your conversation on THWOD wonderful and relateable. Thank you for doing it.

  31. I don’t need a thing from you, other than your continued existence– I have all your books. Just wanted to tell you I adore you. Not in a creepy way, promise. In a “we’re members of the same weirdo alien tribe” way. Happy Everything! And thanks for being you. ♡

  32. How to choose? Let’s Pretend this Never Happened or You are Here? I am already the (very) proud owner of Furiously Happy. Btw, you totally rocked the podcast. I listened at work today and really did laugh and cry. Thank you for the feels, always. Mtsk@live.ca

  33. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. It’s been quite a year in school and I could use a laugh. Last time I read this book, I laughed out loud in a crowded room and attracted lots of stares. Thank you so much for the laughs and giggles, Jenny; God knows we need them more than ever these days.

  34. I would freaking pee my pants if I got copy of any of the books, especially if it welcomed me to the motherfucking Double Unicorn Success Club!!!!

  35. Also, Jenny, there’s a book called “Undying Love,” and if you haven’t read it, I would be delighted to send a copy to your e-reader. Or a hard copy to your next-door-neighbor’s boss’s daughter’s hairdresser’s if you think I might be a creepy stalker. I am maybe creepy, but not so much stalkery.

Anyway, “Undying Love” is a book that I think would be right up your alley. And no, I didn’t write it. I heard about it on NPR, and I had to buy it because it’s so incredibly weird.

  36. I would love You Are Here….my latest med my dr. has me trying has had me in a fog for the last 2 days!

  37. I would love kto win a copy of Furiously Happy. I am the reader that posted a detailed travel recommendation for Central and Northern California. Did you ever get to take a family vacation, or is that when you got so sick?
    Love ya!
    Tina in San Diego

  38. Lets Pretend This Never Happened. I am finishing finals this week and I need something funny to read over break. You are awesome. Cheers!

  39. I remember having anxiety when we met you at a book-signing for Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, and my wife took a picture, and then I felt anxiety about having taken the picture and never uploaded it, but then a year later I met Robert “Surely You Can’t Be Serious” Hayes, and I was fine, so I don’t know… what the point of this comment was.

  40. Well, I have all of your books, but I had to comment anyway because anything that makes depression fun has got to be awesome. Cheers!

  41. YOU ARE HERE!!! Pretty please! It would be the best birthday present ever since I have to share my day with Jesus. Who can compete with that???!!!

  42. I would really like a copy of Let’s Pretend this Never Happened, if there is a spare one/if it’s not too late/if people in Canada can take part in the giveaway. I think it’s lovely that you do this! 🙂
    marli.tharn@hotmail.com

  43. Furiously Happy! This is the first thing I read that you wrote and it was great. It also “hooked me up” to your blog and other books. Keep writing and narrating your own books on tape you are wonderful.
    email: thepigsx3@yahoo.com

  44. I would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I lent it to a friend and never got it back. I almost never read books more than once, but yours are the rare exception.

  45. Hi Jenny; I empathise completely because I had a flare of anxiety today while writing about anxiety in a personal essay I’m planning on sharing with friends & fellow writers. If I’m chosen foe the book giveaway, I would love to have a copy of You Are Here. Thank you for bringing such joy to me even through your struggles. Much love & happy holidays to you & yours!

  46. I considered asking for a book for a friend, but I’m going to be selfish today cuz my week has been shit and ask for one for me instead – the Dangerous Minds one… 🙂 In case I don’t reply to another post before then – wishing you a happy Christmas!

  47. I am SO GLAD you let us know that Book People has the Lost & Found print. I just ordered one. If you’re signing those that would be wonderful, if not, I am still thrilled to be able to have one. I truly thought I’d missed out.

I have a copy of You Are Here, but I can’t bring myself to color in it. I think I need a pristine copy and one I can color, paint, draw in. If you have an extra copy for this slightly uptight fan, I’d appreciate it.

  48. I’d love a copy of either Let’s Pretend This Never Happened or Furiously Happy for one of my youth who has anxiety and a bevy of debilitating health issues no doctor can quite figure out. She’s had the “We don’t actually know what’s wrong” diagnosis too many times to count :/ . (sestasik@gmail.com)

  49. I already have both your books, so I won’t ask for one, but I do hope I can order your calendar when (if, ha!) I get $ again.
I LOVE the Hosts World of Depression! I’ve been listening for months. Can’t wait to listen to you on there!!

  50. Let’s Pretend, please!! I lent my copy out and never got it back. I’ve purchased it several times, but always as a gift. I want my own copy!

  51. I would love a copy of Furiously Happy, if only to know if there was money on the hard copies after all! (Or was it on Let’s pretend it never happened? See? I need refreshing on the concept) 😂😄

  52. YOU gave me one last year and I love it!!! I have both, so I don’t need one, but I am hoping to get your calendar when I have some spending $! I love the Hilarious World of Depression, can’t wait to listen to it!

  53. You are here, and incidentally, if you could actually help me figure out where I am in his mess, I’d surely appreciate it! Love the smiles you share with us! Happy KwanzMasHanuStivus!

  54. Ermegerd! I’m in such a quandary. Jenny, you are an answer to prayer and by that I mean James Garfield the Boar.

See, my boyfriend has 2 sisters, 2 brothers-in-laws (however the plural of that word works), 1 niece and his parents AND every year we spend insane amounts of money on each other… because
    1) we love to shop AND
    2) we love to give the people we love stuff they need (or think they need. Yes I DO need that Nerf Gun and extra Nerf balls, Brad!)

Anyway, usually it’s a lot of money… well not like Billions but certainly hundreds and this year, it all came to a screeeeeching halt. The madness came to an end… rather than buying for everyone, we picked a name scribbled on bits of a used napkin from a hat at a restaurant we had never been at before. MADNESS, I tell you.

So anyway, back to prayer and James G. In order to properly afford buying all the gifts, I would save money every month… every month. Special envelope with Penguins even. So this year, I found out that I had horribly over saved and by horribly, I mean ANNUS HORRIBLUS.

And I had no idea what to do with the money? Put it in the special envelope for a new used car? I do need one but I’m saving, I’m saving. Put it in the special envelope for my brother’s cancer treatments? I have a monthly budget and a lot of envelopes but God and the Universe has always provided… hence my quandary… so I did what I always do when I need something… I asked God and the Universe what I should do with that money… and you popped up.

I still have no idea HOW I got to your blog. I’m not a social media person. My cat is on Facebook so I can look at friends’ pictures when they tell me I have to look at them!!. And she’s blind so there’s no way that she pointed me to your blog. None. Whatsoever.

Nonetheless, there I was… on your blog, I mean…. reading and laughing for about a week AND THEN IT HAPPENED, James Garfield the Boar.

I actually went back and read ALL about his hoary boar-i-ness and BAM! VIOLA! Christmas money to be used… for… KIDS WHO NEED IT!! Holy crap, who comes UP with this serendipity… evidently God and the Universe, natch.

So yes I would most definitely LOVE one of your books… but that’s the quandary I mentioned way back at the beginning, I don’t really know which one. I mean I haven’t been with you on this whole-journey-blog-thing from the beginning. I’m really rather late…so I have no idea which would be the perfect-non-nerf-book for me?

So I’m doing what I do best and asking God, the Universe and You to pick out the book… if I’m chosen of course… duh Thank you for the Merriest of Christmases! Karen-One-of-Santas-Elves@nym.hush.com

  55. I would love Let’s Pretend This Never Happened 🙂

Thank you for being you ❤️❤️

No matter what you always put a smile on my face 😊

  56. I don’t have a copy of “You Are Here” yet, so it seems only right that I receive it from your personally. I mean, we did bond in Raleigh earlier this year and all…at that book signing…with 9000 other people around us. PS – you didn’t sound anxiety ridden on the podcast today.

  57. I would love a copy of You Are Here, but you don’t have to write anything in it of you don’t want to. Unless you feel like writing “Knock Knock, Motherfu[cat face].”

  58. I would love a copy of Furiously Happy because the first two copies I had were loaned to friends who then loaned them to friends and let’s face it, they’re never coming home. 🗑 🐼 ❤️ Hillearymia@yahoo.com

  59. I’d appreciate another copy of “You Are Here” because I fucked up the one I bought. On second thought, I’m not a responsible book owner, so giving me one might be unproductive.

  60. Would LOVE a copy of “You Are Here….” Everything you do is awesome Jenny. Wish you could do a book signing in Canada (Toronto). We Canadians are a welcoming people and would love to entertain you here.

  61. My son survived a suicide attempt a few weeks ago. One of the therapies is coloring. I sent him all three books and he loves then, but a personalized spaghetti monster color book would make his day. If he’s chosen, you can email me for his info. Your devoted moose hat wearing, Garfield gift giving fan.

  62. Thanks for the Cha-noo-kah (no one spells it the same, so I figured I’d get creative!) greetings. You’re extraordinarily generous! 😀

  63. I suppose You Are Here in that is the only one i havent read. But i LOVE the other two as well. Is it possible for you to hire a graphic artist to make a series of your blog going back to the beginning because i would totally buy that.

  64. I would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. It’s been an absolute shit 6 months for me and your blog/twitter always make me laugh and laughing at outrageously inappropriate things makes me feel arm and fuzzy and not so terrible. My hope is to read the book at work and make others wonder why coffee is shooting out of my nose. A hug from Dorothy Barker would be great too. Or you. myoung1@gpstrategies.com

  65. Thanks for the heads up about the podcast, I don’t normally listen but will head over to listen to that one.

I would LOVE a copy of Furiously Happy. I work at a bookstore and am always recommending Let’s Pretend and Furiously Happy to customers who say they need something to cheer them up.
    Thomasbmurtland@gmail.com

  66. Just wanted to say. Last year you did this and you sent me a copy of Let’s Pretend this Never Happened, which I passed along to a friend who has passed it along and so on. It continues to travel along to others and I just wanted to say Thank You! You make me feel like I am not the only one and you have helped me and many others become closer friends through our love of your books. Happy Holidays and best wishes for you and yours in the coming year.

  67. THANK YOU so much for getting a calendar out this year! I absolutely love this year’s and was hoping there would be one for next year. I would love a copy of “You Are Here.”

Thank you for everything that you do for us.

  68. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a copy of You are here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds. I bought your two other books, but haven’t been able to purchase your latest book…
    keejah (a) gmx (dot) de

  69. I love your writing! I would love a copy of. “You are here”. It’s the only one I don’t have. When I was going through cancer treatment, your other two books made me laugh my butt off to the point I was crying while listening in the car. You are good therapy! Hugs.

    (Check your email. ~ Jenny)

  70. I would love to have a copy of You Are Here. I recently stumbled across your other two books and devoured them. (Not that I ate them, that would be silly, I just read them quickly.) Your sense of humor and I am totally a member of your tribe.
    My email is Luckylefty22.js@gmail.com

  71. I have all you books. Give it to someone who doesn’t because they will make their lives a little more furiously happy! Just wanted to say thanks, I’ve had a really tough week but your audio books gave been getting me to work on the morning because I know I can start the day with a good laugh! I’ve given your books to so many people and we all want to enjoy your company (though likely via electronic media because were all shy introverts unless there is booze or costumes or booze in costumes…so that would work!) Much love to you and yours. Thanks for being you!

  72. I would love a coy of let’s pretend and if you sign it please please please write knock knock motherfucker

  73. Any of your books. I have both Audiobooks and I love listening to them. The paper books would be great to have!!

  74. I would love a copy of You are here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds! Thank you for being you!

  75. I’d love a copy of Let’s pretend this never happened. I loaned mine out to someone a while back & haven’t seen it since!
Although, I can’t blame them. It is pretty epic 😉
    mmschimmel@att.net

  76. I would love a copy of You are here. I have all of your other books & highly recommend them to my friends. Thank you so much for everything you say & do to make it okayer to be a little insane. Misery does company & it helps to laugh at it all.

    (Check your email. ~ Jenny)

  77. You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds! (csampson1014@gmail.com)
    You’re my hero!

  78. My first time commenting but would love a signed copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I️ have & love all your books but that is my favorite! scurleygodfrey@gmail.com It has to be knock knock motherfucker – nothing else would feel right! Thank you for being such a guiding light for those of us who are unsure and afraid – Susan

  79. Furiously happy, please.

Small Town library amazingly had this, and I read it there and would love love love a copy of my own!

  80. I fell in love with you and your humor when I read Furiously Happy ❤️❤️❤️

But I borrowed it from the local library and would love to own my own copy! 🙂 (brennatowery@gmail.com)

  81. Loved you on THWOD! And I don’t have a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. (jmfaas@gmail.com)

  82. I listened to you on my way home from work tonight and it made me furiously happy. I love John’s podcast. Thank you for showing up (I was wondering if you would). If you have more, I’d love a copy of “Let’s Pretend.” I read “Furiously Happy” while waiting around for my husband at MD Anderson last year. I laughed out loud and people looked at me strange but hey, if there is ever a place you need to laugh, it’s there. Hang in there. Chris – buildalife@gmail.com

  83. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. If possibly, I would love to get it personalized for myself. Anything where you swear is my favourite. “Knock knock Motherfucker”, etc. 😛 (candice_in_da_house@hotmail.com)

  84. I would love You are Here! I haven’t been able to get it for myself because life and responsibilities…

  85. I have a signed copy of each of your books, and have already given a few away so I’m not going to ask for more here. I just wanted to say thank you for being you. If you hadn’t come out to Vromans in Pasadena I wouldn’t have been able to conquer one of my personal demons and make it out there to meet you. All by myself in room full of weirdo’s who were throwing of so much energy I ended up having a panic attack anyway but whatever. I’ll leave my email in case you want to say hi, lol, but I don’t want anything. 🙂 CassieSteger@gmail.com

  86. “I sound completely insane”

Welcome to the club. Good to have you! Have a beer.

Hilarious World of Depression is also one of my favourite podcasts. Haven’t listened to your episode yet, though. I have about 80 other podcast episodes to listen to first. For seriously; I just discovered about half a dozen new podcasts lately and have downloaded shitloads of past episodes from those and I have to listen to them in date order, so yours is near the bottom, at the moment.

  87. I’d love a copy of Furiously Happy or Let’s Pretend This Never Happened!!! I had copies, let friends I thought needed them borrow them, and never saw them again! Replacing one, especially with a signed copy, would make my holiday. It’s not within my means to replace books right now….because kids… love everything you do! Rebeccaann@bellsouth.net

  88. So my sister had surgery 5 days ago; she is really bummed or loopy on narcotics or something.
One Christmas she gave me a Beyoncé Knock Knock Mother Fucker ornament.
It would be super cool awesome if you could engulfed her in her delirium by sending a Let’s Pretend or something.

The tube is out of her nose, but still ……
    Cheridtipton@gmail.com

  89. Hello, Jenny! I listened to the podcast and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think that, if anything, the editing made you sound a bit scattered, but you’ve got the “pretending to be good at it” down. Am I the only one to get anxiety listening to something that I enjoy, but watching the counter and seeing that it’s going to end sooner than I want? Anyhow, I’m good with purchasing your books for myself and my friends – I’m sure that you’ll make some very happy people in the messages. Cheers!

  90. I think it’s awesome that you do so many book giveaways! I’d love to get my hands on a paperback copy of Furiously Happy!
    (sarahccheers@yahoo.com)

  91. I would love a copy of Furiously Happy! You brighten my day with every blog post you write!!

  92. Ok
    So quid pro quo
I will write you a poem or send you a pic of Snuggles my chicken (She is a naughty chicken) or send you a poem about Snuggles the naughty chicken
As it would make my sister super duper happy as she recovers from her surgery
And IF YOU INSIST I will pull out the big guns and send you a video of my clogging.
Perhaps I could hold Snuggles while clogging. Or good gracious maybe I could teach Snuggles to clog (caveat – no binding promise there.)

    Just sayin’

    (Check your email. ~ Jenny)

  93. Furiously happy pleeeeezee! It would make my day and start the upcoming year with something to look forward to.

  94. I would love to share a copy of Furiously Happy for a co-worker. I think I got her totally addicted to your humor. I think her husband would love it as well since he struggles with mental health as well. (chosen.dedicated@gmail.com)

  95. I would love to give a copy of Furiously Happy or You are Here to my co-worker. I may have her addicted to your humor now. I also think her husband would very much enjoy it as well.
    (chosen.dedicated@gmail.com)

  96. The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis has a giant blue chicken statue, and every time I drive past it, I mutter, “Knock, knock, motherfucker.”

I would love a copy of You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds!

  97. I have all your books… LPTNH is signed, FH is TRIPLE signed, and you wrote “Knock, Knock, Mother Fucker on my metal chicken when you were in STL. Clearly; I already win without you sending me anything.

  98. I definitely need Furiously Happy in my library. Also, you are pretty much the most amazing person in the history of amazing persons. You totally inspire so many people on many different levels. summerloman@gmail.com

  99. You Are Here, because it’s the only one I don’t have. I don’t have anything signed though, sadly.

  100. It makes me happy that you live in the area and support BookPeople. I like to imagine that I have sat next to you at a coffee house and not known it was you (and you didn’t know it was me). I don’t need any of your books, but I want you to know that you make me furiously happy. It is easier to live in Texas knowing that you are in it.

  101. You are here! Thank you for your books. I am a counselor and I recommend your books to my clients all the time. Although mental health issues are serious, we don’t have be serious about it all the time.

  102. I listened to the podcast. Loved it! You were great! Just received my copy of Furiously Happy and You Are Here , yesterday! I started reading Furiously Happy at the library and couldn’t put it down. Had to order my own copy.

  103. Furiously Happy has my 12 yo bipolar daughter cackling in her room at 3 AM. Thank you.<3 I’ve read and bought copies of both, but I would love to give LET’S PRETEND THIS NEVER HAPPENED to my daughter, Katie! Thank you!

  104. I would love a copy of Furiously Happy to give a friend. They are struggling with depresssion after the death of her spouse.

  105. thanks very much for the link to the hilarious world of depression. i needed to listen to that today.

i had anxiety on your behalf because i find it awful to listen to the sound of my own voice when it is recorded and i imagined how terrible/wonderful it would be to record a podcast like you did. you were fabulous.

i am hankering after a copy of You Are Here!

  106. I would love a copy of “Let’s Pretend this Never Happened.” I am just finishing Furiously Happy and I love it!

  107. I realllllyyy would like You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds for christmas, it’s the only coloring book left on my list that I don’t have and bills prevent christmas shopping :c (kayla.bee.hein@gmail.com)

  108. I would love a copy of Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. I’ve always wanted to read it, but have always been too lazy to pick up a copy!!

  109. Please ignore my post (#207) and gift your books to some of the people in the posts who seem to need your generosity more than I do at the moment! Keeping all of Jenny’s crew in my thoughts and sending out lots of love.

  110. I would be so grateful for a copy of You Are Here… I can’t colour worth a damn, but would love to look at the pictures and read your words. I have both your other books already. karenann@live.ca

  111. Thank you for doing the podcast. I had never heard of it until you mentioned it, Jenny and last night, when I couldn’t sleep I put it on and I drifted off. Not that you’re boring, but somehow your voice was JUST soothing enough that I was able to fall asleep.

  112. Well, if I win a book (since I’ve read your books), what I want is for you to give “my” book to someone else! You choose the person! : )

I had your calendar, but my very conservative (I wrote that instead of “up-tight”) husband had a problem with the month that told how many fucks I give and asked me to take it down. So the rest of the year, I just was “Living the Dream!” which made me smile every time I looked at it.

I recently started calling him “dear.” He asked why all of a sudden did I start calling him that. I told him it was nicer than calling him “ass hole.”

Actually, overall, he is a good guy….

  113. Thank you so very much!
In the spirit of disclosure, I really cannot clog in any way that resembles dance.
So, well played on not forcing my hand.
    Again, thank you.
I feel so grateful that I made a connection with “the real deal Bloggess.”
I really think your tip of the hat to her overcoming tube nose will lift her spirits way more than I could.
Please know you have an open invitation to come meet Snuggles and the other hens if you are ever in this neck of the woods.
Sigh – the universe provides ……

  114. Since I’m commenting, Furiously Happy (I assume WordPress is giving you my email)

I don’t usually do calendars these days, but the April image.. April (and May) are my hell months. There will be no fucks. No fucks at all. I might have to get it.

  115. “Let’s Pretend” made me laugh out loud in an otherwise VERY quiet bookstore. I would wish for a copy of that. Well, if I was wishing, it would probably be for someone to show up on a regular basis and clean the animal hair off of only EVERYTHING I OWN. Except, now I would have strangers coming into my home, so I’d have to clean first, and they’ll feel like, “Why am I even here? Is this SERIOUSLY the life I have chosen for myself? Why does this lady keep talking to me?…” so maybe that’s not a great idea either.

Maybe I should wish that once I become a therapist I won’t want to become besties with all of my clients because they’re mostly FINE, but no one has ever given them the chance to be both completely off-the-wall with deep, dark issues (like me) and still be loved and fully accepted. Yeah, I’ll wish for that.

Wait, is that not what you asked?

  116. When I think I’m going crazy I can read your blog for a few minutes and realize that I am not alone. In the best way.

  117. Let’s pretend this never happened b/c I loved Furiously Happy & bought myself the coloring book!

  118. I don’t see my reply so I’m shooting for fucking idiot double poster and hoping not too late for a chance to win anything! Thank you for making cry because I’m laughing not because invisible illnesses fucking suck!!

  119. Didn’t get to read the blog until too late for the book giveaway…..so….let’s just pretend this never happened! Lol! 😉

  120. Furiously Happy!!!! It’s such an amazing book! It has kept me sane while dealing with all my craziness!! That sounds weird… oh well! Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your stories! I was recently Baker Acted for harming myself and wanting to end everything. I have listened to your audiobook of Furiously Happy about 9 times since I got discharged last month. I have it on repeat. I’m waiting for my scars to heal, and when they do, Rory is going over some of my scars to keep me smiling and a silver ribbon is going around other scars so I have a constant reminder to not give up. Thank you, Jenny! Your words brought my heart back to life… along with meds, but you know what I mean!! Love you face!!!

  121. I don’t know if you’re finished sending out books, but if you’re not I’d love a copy of You Are Here. It looks amazing and I haven’t gotten my hands on it yet. I’m at hstorm799{at}gmail{dot}com. Merry Flying Spaghetti Monster Day!

  122. Not asking for a book – just wanted to say I really enjoyed listening to you on the podcast! I opened it the minute I saw it in my queue (and I am so behind on SO MANY podcasts). <3

Also I’m not a bot – I only have twitter to follow other people.

  123. Did you know both January and March have double full moons in 2018? And Easter falls on April Fools Day, It’s gonna be an interesting year.

  124. Realized I haven’t gotten my copy of Let’s Pretend… back from loaning it out, when I went to send it to my BIL & SIL in Vieques, Puerto Rico. They still have months to go without power so we send books and things to occupy time, sent You Are Here to them already. =)
Excited to hear the podcast tomorrow on my way to work!

  125. I’m so late with everything.

I would like the coloring book. If possible.
    I also.live in Austin.

  126. Podcast dude incorrectly named your FIRST book “You Are Here” and completely neglected to even mention that you’d authored a coloring book by that exact title. Or else I misheard him, because I was listening whilst bathing. Hmm.

While I wish to make my next career out of READING audiobooks (i.e. recording them), I have to agree that there is no one better than YOU to read YOUR books. I love your voice.

  127. I would be grateful for anyone of the three. Is there one I could share with my oldest son? He is an teen who struggles with anxiety like me and also has panic disorder + social phobia. Dealing with my own struggles has been challenging as I battle to get him what he needs. A book even for just myself would be amazing, I haven’t been able to get 1 so I’m grateful for any 1 of them.

I may be to late for this, but I thought why not and give it a try.

  128. Let’s Pretend This Never Happened because someone failed to return my copy to me the laughter stealing bastards!

  129. I would LOVE a copy of Furiously Happy!!! I am reading Let’s Pretend right now. I pretty much want you to be my best friend 😆

  130. I definitely could use An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds. Lately I have noticed a few leaks in mine and I can’t find duct tape that will stick to brain matter. Took a bit of trial and error to even find the the right dipstick.

  131. AH!! I need Furiously Happy! Still haven’t read it, and my life is lacking because of it! I read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened on a plane, and I was laughing so hard I was afraid they were going to kick me off…

  132. Jenny, I’m an beyond excited that you responded to me. However, I found out the book I asked for I already have so I used the money for James Garfield requests AND I feel good about doing that. You are a wonderful person.

  133. Hi Jenny, I’d love to have a copy of your book let’s pretend this never happened. It’s one of my favourite books of all time and definitely one of the must humourous ones i’ve read. I actually did s book ralk on it in grade 9 and recommended that everyone read it many years ago in english class. Anyways, even if you get back to me or not i hope you have a wonderful christmas/holidays/ blitz

    xoxo ellen

  134. Just a comment for anyone who’s thinking about the limited posters- I was in Savannah a month ago and saw a few in person. Couldn’t buy them because we had very limited car space, but they look REALLY nice. That’s not a ‘poster.’ It’s a high-quality print.

  135. Furiously Happy, please!
My son (who lives with anxiety and depression) and I both read and adored this book.

  136. Just got done reading Let’s Pretend… snorting with laughter and shaking my head in complete understanding at the chaos with your family. Our humor and rambling seem very much aligned! On my wish list is Furiously Happy, please!

  137. Is there a word for “bowdlerize” that doesn’t imply the result is inherently weaker?

My precocious reader loves what I read out loud to her from your books & blog — and she’s an extremely shy child with a mother fighting depression, so it would be excellent for her to learn about mental health issues. But she’s one who uses the new vocabulary she learns from books — and the shitstorm would be huge if she started quoting KnockKnockMF around her teachers and her grandmother.

Anyway, I’d love to be able to buy PG-rated editions.

  138. You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds! (Katerinabudinsky@yahoo.com) I gifted one to my friend and I am totally jealous!

  139. I would loveee a copy of You are Here!
P.S. Your blog has been such an inspiration to me and I want to thank you for your words. 🙂

  140. Please make a T-shirt of “Be nice or I will stab you” (in blood red?), with maybe Happy Holidays written on the back! Please, please, please, please, please, please, please….unless you already have, then just send another link so I can buy it. Or else!…. Well, you know the rest ; ) Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah everyone!

  141. Let’s pretend changed my world. I also live with depression and ra. I love to laugh with you. Omg, my phone typed I love you. Good thing I saw that, or I would be that awkward stalker in the comments.

  142. Oh Miz Jenny,
Your words and pics are a magic touchstone of sanity in this anxiety-ridden year. Thank you!

I have a request: The image of Rory and Rory II on the vespa always makes me laugh out loud. Seriously, ALWAYS. I would love a small fridge magnet of that image with the caption, “Look, ma! No hands!” It’s a clear violation of safety rules, but are you going to tell him that? IT’S HIS BIRTHDAY, YOU MONSTER.” My fridge magnets are a little morning reset for my nightly depressive state as I reach for the milk for my coffee. So obviously, this magnet would completely eradicate all my mental health issues. ;-b

  143. Anxiety can cripple like a mothertrucker. Hope it’s getting better. That was truly one of my fears that I had to literally face… like daily for two years… now I’m a little better!!

badparentingwebs recently posted https://badparentingweb.wordpress.com/2017/12/13/moore-loses-election-sensible-folks-lose-faith-in-republicans-the-rest-dont-give-a-shit/, and it’s pretty fucking impressive. Critics are like throwing accolades left and right.

  144. Hello Ms. Bloggess,

I emailed you but you may not have had time to see it read it yet. I know you are a busy lady!

I was hoping you would share my GoFundMe page, as my family is facing the hardest time we have ever faced before. I will include the link here, if anyone feels moved to help or share the link. Our family would be eternally grateful. Thank you!

  145. I would love to have a copy of You Are Here, but I blew our Christmas budget already on the kids! (Pick me! Pick me!) mrs.soule(at)gmail(dot)com

  146. Love you! Happy Holidays to you and I would take either book you would care to gift me as I have them both, but am a selfish person and want one to share!. Yes, I am hoarding my books.

    Tlcfree@ aol.com
(Don’t judge that I still have AOL)

  147. We drove through Austin when we moved. I never want to go through that experience again. Holy hell.
I would LOVE a copy of You Are Here, as it’s the only one I don’t have yet.
Happy/Merry/Congratu-Christmas/Hanukkah/Flying Spaghetti Monster to you and yours!

  148. I’m sure it’s too late anyway but I’d like a copy of anything you still have lying around…even an old One Pot Recipes book that you have gathering dust (and grease) in the kitchen.

    hokeybutt@gmail.com

  149. That moment they give away free books and you realise you have all of the books…

On the other hand, I have all of the books,
    Guess I’m fine ^^

  150. I have already ready Furiously Happy ( and bought a few for friends and family!) , so I would like be any other noon !!

  151. I gave away my copy of Furiously Happy to a friend of mine who really needed to lighten up. She had been at a Dead Sea level of Salty. So far she’s enjoying it. I would love another copy to share with my Mother who could benefit from a good laugh, and someone too relate too. Love your work and your personality, thank you for the laughs

    brandonelkins33@gmail.com

  152. I’ve listened to that podcast for ages and was wondering if you’d ever be on it. Just because your episode SOUNDED insane, doesn’t mean YOU’RE insane, but it was, and maybe you are but that’s for the authorities to decide, and if they DO decide that you are NOT insane, be sure to get it in writing and have it notarized because that shit can come back and bite you in the ass.

  153. I’m number #282 from the huge holiday gift giving post, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU. Guys, my boys have presents and someone even sent them a basketball which they are gonna flip out over. Thank you thank you thank you I cried a lot you guys are the most wonderful. <3 <3 <3

  154. I have the other 2 but still need You are here! I battle depression so would be amazing to hear your take on it

  155. Hello. I am not sure how this really works. Are you supposed to redo your post after a few days? I hope so, because I don’t want to appear to be asking too much. I hate the thought of begging and I never thought I’d find myself asking for help. I have often said that I am greatful that I had my children during an easier time, but well, the grandchildren have me rethinking that! I am concerned that I may have set my hopes too high. IIt has been a really rough year. I am sure there are many others hit by the crunch of the current economy, and I should feel blessed. Well, I do feel blessed in one aspect. I was given the gift of three beautiful grand babies this past year. Two girls and one boy. I have received several gifts for the boy, but am still hoping above hopes that something can be done for the girls. There is also a 3 year old sweet little angel girl who I could also use some help with. My children are struggling to make ends meet and I am only working 20 hours a week now and barely surviving myself. They shop at moms and I help them when I can, but right now, Christmas is not a priority. Anything that can be given would be greatly appreciated. The boys things have been removed since he now has three things, and I thank you for that, from the bottom of my heart! Hopefully, next year will be better and we can be on the giving end of this! Love and many blessings this holiday season, Michelle L.

  156. I would LOVE a copy of YOU ARE HERE!! I have read (well actually listened because I work on a chicken farm and 1)have kids and work on a chicken farm and dont get much time to read and 2) I’ve got to drown out the sounds of squaking chickens!!) regardless I would be ecstatic to get this book and would hide in my bathroom with a bottle of wine to read it while the kids binge watched whatever the hell the newest cartoon is these days!

  158. I did not get the email notification for this post. 🙁 boo! I can’t wait to listen to your podcast though. I’m sure it’s great! 🙂 Your calendar is great. (why can’t I use something other than ‘great’ lol!) I love the Be nice or I’ll stab you. Hope you are having a wonderful (almost put great, not even kidding) day!

  159. You were awesome on Hilarious. I listen to that when I walk and look like a dork walking around my neighborhood laughing and crying.

Thanks for following me on Twitter today – it made my otherwise crappy day a little bit better.

  160. Just listening to you wrapping up that “Hilarious World of Depression” podcast. -You totally aced it. What a gift to hear you speak so candidly.

  161. Happy Hanukkah.
You shine brightly in the dark, a human light for all to see. Thank you. Seriously.

Oh, and before I forget again… You Are Here: An Owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds

    7.nettles@gmail.com

  162. How awesome is this. I’d love a copy of one of your books. How about “Let’s pretend this Never Happened.” I love your blog. You’re very funny with a tremendously big heart. <3

  163. I love you. You are my spirit animal. I am originally from San Angelo, so I am very familiar with Wall.. I would love a copy of you are here: Owners manual of a dangerous mind.

  164. Saying “thank you for working through anxiety to talk on that podcast” doesn’t do justice to how grateful I am that I got to spend an hour listening to you; the reassurance that I’m not alone in this, and the “holy-fuck-that’s-how’d-I-say-it” moments made my day/month/year. It also made me start looking at roadkill in a completely different way and has planted the seed for a possible knee hobby.

  165. Ehn, I missed the deadline. But I already have one of the books. What I need is a raccoon cutout; or to crochet one for myself. Maybe that.

Anyhow, heard you on the podcast (which is one of my current favorites). You did great! I can get on board with Neil Gaiman = cocaine.

    Sending you love.

  166. Jenny, I feel you! I wanted to send everyone I know suicide goodbyes instead of Christmas cards which was actually an improvement for me because finally I felt connected to other people enough to want to send them something so I’m making progress. My therapist gave me such a funny look, like, “Well, that’s pretty twisted but, well, OK, I guess if you say that’s progess then…well…hmmm….”

  167. Ms Bloggess… my sympathies and empathies on your current depression. I too am struggling and am even going through shock theraphy (seriously…) treatments. Just finished my fourth of about 12 to 15 sessions. I think it it actually helping! I’m hopeful.

Anyway – I would so love a copy of “Let’s Pretend it Never Happened”. I LOVED Furiously Happy!!!! Busted a gut and a depression over it. Thank you. You are a love and a genius!

Hang in there wild woman. You and the raccoons got this!
    Best wishes,

  168. You are so great! You are one of the reasons i got into blogging. You and my friend Laura. I text her before going into therapy to try to get out my crazy thoughts do my therapist doesn’t think I’m crazy but then i tell my therapist to put away the cracks she’s hiding under her couch and i realize that i have failed.
I cant wait to get your new book: You Are Here: An owner’s Manual for Dangerous Minds. I listened to your other two books via my library app and now I’m going to buy them because i need to see the pictures you described. Dont worry, i haven’t forgotten the secret word. Ok. I have but maybe I’ll reread it and remember?
Wow. This was a lout longer than i meant and now I’m babbling because you’re my hero and I’m gonna stop.

  169. Hey Jenny I wanted to thank you your book that got me Jenny I wanted to thank you your book that got me through one of the darkest periods in my life and showed me that being somewhat happy is. I don’t have a whole lot of money right now so I was able to read your first two books at the library but I don’t think that you are here is going to come there since it’s billed as a coloring book

  170. I’m very late to the game, but I just listened to you on the HWOD podcast. Your words were great and moving and I cried.

  171. I happened to listen to you on the Hilarious World of Depression podcast yesterday which was also my brother’s 40th bday, only he committed suicide so it wasn’t much of a celebration.
Your candour helped me write this blogpost: https://charisselouw.blogspot.co.za/2018/03/on-depression-in-memoriam.html
Thanks for keeping it real and inspiring me to be frank about my own struggles with the “little dogs I carry around with me in my purse, not that I carry little dogs around with me because I’m not that kind of person” (paraphrased despite the inverted commas pretending it’s an exact quotation, although I have quite an accurate memory so maybe it is a direct quote after all…anyway, loved the image).
